A Study on the Operation of the Reading Guidance Program for the Youth According to Personality Type (성격유형을 적용한 청소년 독서지도 프로그램 운영 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of the reading guidance for the youth among personality types. This presented the desirable way of the reading guidance through the differences. For this study, the data was collected through observation and focus group interview while reading guidance was implemented among senior year elementary school students and middle school students. This study revealed the possibility of the reading guidance based on personality type. As a result of the reading guidance, this showed the differences between personality type and reading attitude; and between reading tendency and product writing of the youth.

  • The purpose of this study is to research and determine a systematic operating method for analyzing vacation reading guidance programs in school library systems and, thereby, suggesting ways of operating a reading guidance program both effectively and efficiently. Analyses of questionnaires going out to hundred of school libraries in Gyeonggi Province will be performed for this purpose. Specifically, the study will analyze the following 1) the current operation status of each program, 2) their initial purposes and focus, 3) targeted children groups, 4) program instructors, and 5) the actual content design of the programs. As a result, the vast majority of the school libraries operation of vacation reading guidance program and purpose of inspire of reading interest. Finally this study suggests the 5 directions to support operation of vacation reading guidance program in School Libraries. The results of this study will likely suggest the need to re-align or shift current vacation reading guidance programs to be more inclusive for all participants.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop teaching-learning method for reading guidance librarians in Korean Library and Information Science. Even though it was an increase of needs for reading guidance librarians in libraries, reading education courses provided by LIS in Korea lacked. Also, most reading education courses of LIS stressed knowledge-oriented education than the practice of reading program design or reading experience. So this study developed the teaching-learning method of the self-directed learning for the activities of post-reading portfolio, management of reading program for motivation, and the team-projected learning for the design of reading program.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze tasks of the librarians manning reading guidance at public library in order to enhance the professionalism of reading instruction required by librarians. For this purpose, we used the study method such as literature study and FGI analysis. As a result, The duty and task for Special Librarians in Reading Guidance was organized with 15 duties and 55 tasks.

  • The purpose of this study is to see if reading guidances using the happy point books are effective. In this study, reading guidances were carried out to the 6th grade students of J Elementary School who have Enneagram Personality type 2. Books were selected as a source of reading guidance. These are self-growth theme books preferred by Enneagram Personality Type 4 students, a happy point of Enneagram Personality Type 2 students and books containing psychological functions of Enneagram Personality Type 4 students. A reading guidance was conducted in 14 sessions over a period of 5 weeks. Pre and post test using a measurement tool was implemented to measure the effectiveness of reading guidance in terms of emotional intelligence and self-esteem. And, written observation record cards and learning logs of the attendants were also made. As a result, the emotional intelligence and self-esteem of attendants appeared to be improved, and they are satisfied with reading guidance of applying to happy point books.

A Study on Effect of the Elderly Reading Education Activity in Local Child Care Center (지역아동센터에서 노인의 독서교육 활동 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate on the effect of the elderly reading education activity for the children in local child care center. For this study, the data was collected, based on questionnaires by children who participated in the elderly reading assistant education activity program in 14 local child centers. And The study employs a survey observation of reading guidance lesson and individual interviews with the workers at the local child care center. As a result, this shows that the elderly reading guidance activity effects on draws children' interest in reading effectively, and that the workers' opinions about the elderly reading education activity are positive.

An Analytical Study on Reading Behavior of School Children (아동의 독서실태조사)

  • The purpose of present study is to investigate children's attitude toward reading, reading method, reading environment, reading volume, and then to compare the results obtained by sex, area and grade. The tool used in this survey was a questionaire designed specially by the investigator. The questionaire was distributed to 1339 children selected at the descretion of the investigator with due consideration of sex, area(large city, medium city and rural community) and grade (from 2nd grade of primary school to 2nd year of middle school). The results of this study are summerized as follows : 1) Regional difference was observed in respect of the followiug : Awareness on reading, motivation for reading, reading method, activity after reading, number of books collected, reading guidance, how to obtain books to read, monthly reading volume, and reading tendency. 2) Also difference by grade was observed in respcet of the following ; Activity after reading, reading guidance, monthly reading volume and reading tendency. The following conclusions have been made based on the results of the survey: 1) The children's attitude toward reading and reading method may be considered favorable while reading environment is not satisfactory yet. Especially, reading environment of school children in medium cities and rural communities is worse than that of large cities. 2) No difference by sex was observed in respect of attitudes toward reading, reading method, reading environment and reading volume while difference by sex was observed in respect of reading tendency. The followings are recommended based on the results of survey: 1) To establish and carry out a comprehensive program for the improvement of reading environment of the school children in medium cities and rural communities. 2) To improve and substantiate school library facilities and design a proper guidance program to have children utilize school library to the maximum extent. 3) To contemplate on the consolidated measures for reading behavior survey.

A Study on the Plans of Efficient Reading Guidance through a Studying Cartoon (학습만화를 활용한 효율적인 독서지도 방안)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest effective reading guidance using studying cartoons for the reading motivation. We conducted a survey at 3 junior high schools in Chung-Nam province, consisting of 182 students in 6 classes in an attempt to analyze what motivates reading. We propose strategies that can encourage students to read using cartoons, books, and multimedia guides.

  • The purpose of this study is for the investigation into the education program and the reading guidance activity program of the Elderly Reading Assistant Program, which is operated by GyeongGi-Do. It is surveyed by material cooperation with the person in charge of the program in the GyeongGi-Do and by questionnaire the elderly who had participated in the GyeongGi Reading Assistant Education Program in 2011. The questionnaires are gathered based on general background, the participation object of education, the satisfaction of program, the improvement of the program by the elderly who had participated in the 138 beginner and the 166 intermediate course. As a result, it showed that the participation goal of the Elderly Reading Assistant Program is individual cultural activity or self-realization meaning such as the pleasure of working and the volunteer work, and the satisfaction in the education program and the reading guidance activity is high. It also presents the improvements of the program like professional education, the extension of activity period and the active cooperation from regional children's center etc.

Development and Evaluation of a Parent-Child Reading Interaction Program (부모-자녀 독서상호작용 프로그램 개발 및 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a parent-child reading interaction program. Based on the importance of the parent-child relationship and the home literacy environment vis-a-vis the extent to which reading is encouraged, and with regard to the existing empirical research in this field, a five-session parent-child reading interaction program has been developed, targeting 18 parents with children enrolled in th lower grades of elementary school. The effectiveness of this program has been evaluated by a pretest and post test and then analyzed by a paired t-test. The findings are as follows: 1) Following the implementation of this program, there were improvements in scores related to the home literacy environment, the encouragement of reading, and the attitude of the child toward reading. 2) In addition, there was an increase in the level of the mother's "rational guidance" parenting while tendencies toward overprotective and hostile parenting traits declined. The importance of the parent-child relationship and home literacy environment concerning reading guidance was discussed.
