Recently, there are environmental issues for sustainable transportation system to pursue the energy-efficient and environment-friendly public urban transit. These transportation system needs to offer demand-oriented high-quality service being on the same level with cab service for urban space. PRT(Personal Rapid Transit), small track-guided vehicle, is repeatedly mentioned as a possible alternative for the new urban public transportion system, but but there are not many researches on the operational optimal routing for PRT network. In this paper, the concept of PRT and general optimal routing methods are reviewed. And we suggest the optimal routing method for city-wide PRT network with multi-vehicles and stations, junctions and directional arcs. Futher research directions for PRT routing are presented.

Recent social needs for promoting traffic safety increased and the demand social security in economic, increasing the demand for environmentally friendly rail transport. In particular, when train express such as to secure reliability KTX(Korea Train eXpress) from potential disaster(fire) in the train operation caused by the train express running has been very important. Railroad fire extinguishing system is operated to fire exploding before reaching the flashing point more important than early to quickly detect because of CAN(Controller Area Network) communication to fire suppression and fire receiver, interface, fire fighting equipment from HMI((Human Machine Interface) and fire high-performance to research and development for intelligent composite fire receiver is required.

The bogies of railway vehicles are one of the most critical components for service. Fatigue defects in the bogie can be initiated for various reasons, such as material imperfection, welding defects, and unpredictable and excessive overloads during operation. To prevent the derailment of a railway vehicle, it is necessary to evaluate and detect the defect of a connection weldment between the car body and bogie accurately. The safety of the bogie weldment was checked using an ultrasonic test, and it is necessary to determine the occurrence of defects using a learning method. Recently, studies on deep learning have been performed to identify defects with a high recognition rate with respect to a fine and similar defect. In this paper, the databases of weldment specimens with artificial defects were constructed to detect the defect of a bogie weldment. The ultrasonic inspection using the wedge angle was performed to understand the detection ability of fatigue cracks. In addition, the convolutional neural network was applied to minimize human error during the inspection. The results showed that the defects of connection weldment between the car body and bogie could be classified with more than 99.98% accuracy using CNN, and the effectiveness can be verified in the case of an inspection.

In the train system, railway vehicles are connected in a line. Therefore, this feature should be considered in composing network topology in a train system. Besides, inter-car communication should be distinguished from in-car communication. As for the inter-car communication, the hybrid topology was proposed to use rather than the conventional ring, star, daisy-chain, and bus topologies. In the hybrid topology, a number of cars are bound to be a group. Then star topology is used for the communication in a group and daisy-chain topology is used for the communication between groups. Hybrid topology takes the virtue of both star and daisy-chain topologies. Hence it maintains communication speed with reducing the number of connecting cables between cars. Therefore, it is important to choose the number of cars in a group to obtain higher performance. In this paper, we focus on the optimization of hybrid topology for railway cars. We first assume that the size of data and the frequency of data production for each car is identical. We also assume that the importance for the maximum number of cables to connect cars is variable as well as the importance of the communication speed. Separated weights are granted to both importance and we derive the optimum number of cars in a group for various number of cars and weights.

The basic way to charge vehicles for using road and public transport networks is the entry-exit toll system. This system works by reading Hi-Pass and public transportation cards of the vehicles using card readers. However, the problems of navigating a route in consideration of entry-exit toll systems include the non-additive costs of enumerating routes. This problem is known as an NP-complete task that enumerates all paths and derives the optimal path. So far, the solution to the entry-exit toll system charging has been proposed in the form of transforming the road network. However, unlike in the public transport network where the cards are generalized, this solution has not been found in situations where network expansion is required with a transfer, multi-modes and multiple card readers. Hence, this study introduced the Link Label for a public transportation network composed of card readers in which network expansion is bypassed in selecting the optimal path by enumerating the paths through a one-to-one k-path search. Since the method proposed in this study constructs a relatively small set of paths, finding the optimal path is not burdensome in terms of computing power. In addition, the ease of comparison of sensitivity between paths indicates the possibility of using this method as a generalized means of deriving an optimal path.
CAN communication can minimize the interfacing lines between equipments because it is composed of only the input and output lines, also is used for automatic system including vehicle, aircraft, railway vehicles and robot because the reliability of data is high by the capability of data-related error detect and correcting function. It can also improve the low-reliable and inefficient system which is composed of the existing Wiring Harness(W/H), so in case of vehicle, it is used in place of the present ECU as the new electro-control unit. In this paper, we constructed the electro-control unit of vehicle by using CAN communication and implemented system that could monitor the condition of vehicle through the web or mobile by connecting the electro-control unit to imbedded system. Such a system is expected to be helpful to the intelligent vehicle and the adoption of ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control).

Several countries such as Japan, France and so on gradually operate double deck trains as efficient, reliable and comfortable mass transportation systems. However, the double deck trains have relatively big cross sectional areas and high mass centers that cause unsafe vehicle running performances and interface problems between the vehicles and infrastructures, and do not have enough spaces for electric equipments. Therefore, prior to operate double deck trains on the existing lines in Korea, careful investigations should be performed. In this study, we have roughly designed a double deck EMU train system for the existing lines around Seoul metropolitan area.
Since 2003, state transportation study core technology development is being promoted as part of the bimodal trams operating in accordance with the development of refractive vehicle as research infrastructure for building high-tech road transport system has been the research and development. Bimodal trams of refraction as the vehicle for him to introduce domestic first ever operation management system also developed in Korea according to case-based technology system, but most of the country, and, in this study, mainly those based on technology integration building management system and the bimodal trams of refraction of a vehicle operated was to highlight the features and benefits. Bimodal tram station itself is the way the exclusive properties and to operate the route with large transport capacity has the characteristics of the railway, but the only routes such as railroad lines is not of closed roads under certain circumstances, the flexibility to use has to be integrated operations management system of bimodal trams characteristics of the railroads and public transportation by combining the characteristics of a flexible, convenient and secure services to users with the aim of providing research and will denote the system developed. In this study, bimodal integration system required for the operation of the tram station around the wired and wireless network management center, applying the organic integration into one system so that you have to be centrally managed. In addition, the existing traffic management system operates as a unidirectional rather than monitoring all system-wide management via the interactive network through real-time requests and responses were configured to allow management and control. These findings of the existing traffic operation management system that you can jump step can be based on future unmanned vehicles and related systems through control of the operation management system will be offered as a basis.
In this paper, we propose an efficient seamless handoff scheme to minimize packet loss and unnecessary packets on the Internet using the peculiar mobility characteristics of public vehicles such as trains. MR (Mobile Router) in a train visits each AR (Access Router) in the fixed order. As the MR detects reachability to the NAR (Next Access Router) on the new link, the PAR (Previous Access Router) can directly deliver packets from MR's HA (Home Agent) to the NAR according to the HML (Handoff Mobile router List). Then. the NAR buffers them until the MR finishes L3 (Layer 3) handoff procedure with the NAR. Therefore, our scheme can support a seamless handoff without the packet loss and unnecessary packets on the Internet. The result of our performance evaluation has shown that the proposed scheme could provide excellent performance, compared with the NEMO basic support protocol and the Bi-casting protocol.

This study focused on developing strategies of cyber-compact city, combining compact city with information and communications technologies(ICTs), in order to enhance sustainable transportation. The cyber-compact city development is defined as a development that is able to reduce travel by ICTs and encourage people to use transit or non-motorized vehicles such as bicycles for ICT-induced travel (especially, discretionary travel) by compact and mixed land use. It can be achieved with combining cyber and compact strategies with respect to network, node, and area. For example, ICT network may use transit network facility, a transfer station may be a hub of ICTs, and transit influenced zone may work with ICT service area. We proposed three cohesive strategies for the cyber-compact city based on literature review and case studies on cyber and compact cities. The first strategy is a cohesion between public transportation and telecommunication network by centering on the two for national and urban spatial linkage structure. That is, cities or urban centers and its peripheral areas can be connected by rail network, and extra space of railway network can be used for constructing telecommunication network infrastructure. The second strategy is a cohesion between public transportation node and telecommunication node by building up regional and urban telecommunication centers near to or at main railway stations. For this strategy, telework centers and communication service centers should be established mainly at transfer stations. The third strategy is a cohesion between public transportation impact zone and telecommunication impact zone as transit oriented development.
