  • The present paper aims to examine how prospective teachers' experience of creating UCC materials affects their teaching expertise and creativity. The group of subjects consists of a group of 19 students majoring in Japanese under the teacher certificate curriculum at N University located in Cheonan. The collected data was analyzed using a set of statistical methods including frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test using SPSS WIN 21.0. It was found that there was a positive correlation between their UCC experiences and their teaching subject expertise/creativity. It was also found that the former exerted a statistically significant effect on the latter. The results of the current research might suggest that teachers' teaching methods in the field are very important. It is hopeful that innovative teaching methods and activities will be introduced and expanded in the filed to produce more effective education. The Korea Convergence Society.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the curriculum of major subjects by constructing and applying design thinking centered 'early childhood language education' for prospective kindergarten teachers, and to cultivate their teaching ability in the classroom. As a result of the study, it is as follows. First, in the improvement of 'early childhood language education' subjects centered on design thinking, the "plan" stage recognizes the problem of interest in language education and the execution of language areas. In the "action" step, they created a interesting stationery for plays that can be actively expressed for young children who are hard to write. In the "re-action after reflection" steps, they have developed creative writing based on the diverse experience of the who have been working on a kindergarten field practice, Second, The meaning of the implementation for the major classes based on the design thinking is listening to young children than given practice, and self-reflection and growth through sympathy and cooperation. The implications of this study are needed to change the various major classes and the experience of problem solving is that it is also helpful for the autonomy and expertise of prospective kindergarten teachers.

  • The rapid development and progress of information and communication technology are bringing about changes in the field of education, and innovative methods in teaching-learning have been introduced and applied a lot in the actual field starting with the pandemic. Reflecting this trend, the purpose of this study is to examine the perception of prospective elementary school teachers on the use of edutech, which is widely used in the educational field after COVID-19. To this end, I analyzed the results of 7 major ideas selected at the Edutech Utilization Competition held by K University of Education and the focus group interview conducted with 2 pre-service teachers. As a result of the analysis, it was found that prospective elementary school teachers valued the necessity and importance of edutech-based classes. In addition, they were positively aware of the educational effect of edutech-based classes. To sum up, it could be predicted that edutech classes are also linked to the policies and plans of the Ministry of Education, and will play an important role in effectively guiding future learners while achieving the goals set by the curriculum.

  • This study investigated the teaching practice of students attending a three-year early childhood education course in K City, Gyeonggi Province, as well as the educational environments of 72 kindergartens and child care centers where they received field training and which were located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Incheon Metropolitan City, Bucheon, and Ilsan. After four weeks of teaching practice, those prospective teachers were surveyed for their objective opinions and current state regarding the practice guidance for students, teachers' working hours and wages, and female dominance in number among early childhood educators and heads of early childhood education institutions. Those data were collected to understand the operations of early childhood education institutions and the current teaching practice. According to the analysis results, the students of the early childhood education major said the four-week teaching practice was very helpful for them to understand the field and thus had positive receptions of it. Most of the prospective teachers felt the heaviest burden and experienced the biggest shortcomings in practical skills such as music, art, and hand play during class. They also felt a partial need for male counterparts. Those findings will help prospective teachers understand the field further before going out on the field and the teaching bodies have specific ideas about what kind of guidance is provided by kindergartens or child care centers. In addition, they will hopefully serve as basic data to form organic connections between the educational institutions and the field to produce more talented early childhood education teachers.

  • Vietnam is a country where the largest number of Korean companies have branched out, and calibers who can speak Vietnamese are on great demands. In the multicultural classroom, students of Vietnamese background occupy the first or second largest composition among students with multicultural backgrounds; therefore, if teachers can teach in Vietnamese, the positive effects can be promising. This study presents and evaluates a Vietnamese language class developed and operated for the first time in Korea by a university to raise prospective teachers' global-multicultural competences. Two series of the classes were conducted during two vacations of 2018, and 20 students participated. As a results, the groups showed a significant increase in the global-multicultural competences; About 95 percent of the participants demonstrated improvement in the competences. The participants stated opinions: the classes should expand to offer opportunities for many other students who may want to acquire Vietnamese; the participants had better understandings of the Vietnamese cultures, envisioned their role as a Vietnamese speaker and suggested extended opportunities for contacts with Vietnamese cultures. The study hopes that other universities apply the educational model and the case study and that, as a result, teachers can contribute to building harmonious Korean-Vietnamese relations using Vietnamese.

To achieve the purpose, data were collected using on- and off-line surveys containing questionnaires developed by the researchers. The survey items were categorized into 11 groups such as operation capability, computer use and communication, word processing, ethics, computer fundamentals, understanding of educational IT, information instruments use, application s/w use, work processing with computer, and internet use capability. Major findings were as follows: (1) Female teachers rated their IT literacy level higher than male teachers. (2) Teachers with longer teaching experience rated their IT literacy level lower than those of shorter experience. (3) There were no signigicant differences among sex, school, job grade of teachers at the present level of literacy, but there were significant differences among sex, age, carreer, job grade, and subject matter at the expectation level except for school grade.

  • This paper presents a case study in which a lesson was designed and applied to enhance preservice home economics teachers' instructional design competence using the metaverse. For 15 weeks from March 6 to June 14, 14 students enrolled on the course 'Multimedia Home Economics Education' for preservice home economics teachers used the metaverse to engage in problem-based learning to solve instructional design problems in home economics classes. In accordance with the ADDIE design model, in the analysis stage, we assessed preservice home economics teachers' level of knowledge of lessons using the metaverse, and their perceptions of the possibility, necessity, and usefulness of using the metaverse in home economics lessons. In the design and development stage, lesson plans, questions for problem-based learning, assessment tools, and teaching and learning materials were developed. The implementation was conducted in parallel with training on understanding multimedia and the metaverse, and instructional design competence was evaluated through pre- and post-testing and reflection journals. The results revealed that the preservice home economics teachers acquired a good understanding of lessons using the metaverse, learned how to design lessons for self-directed learning by applying the metaverse to their home and classroom, and gained confidence in applying it to their teaching practice or in-service work. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as support materials for prospective and current home economics teachers to design home economics lessons using the metaverse, thereby expanding the horizons of home economics education.

  • This study analyzed the perception of prospective elementary school teachers in relation to using the history of Korean mathematics. The results of this study showed that the pre-service teachers realized using the history of Korean mathematics more importantly than the history of mathematics. They thought that the contents of the history of Korean mathematics should be increased in mathematics education and pre-service teacher education. The participation experience in teacher education about the history of Korean mathematics had a positive effect on the perception of pre-service teachers. Finally, this paper asserted that teacher education is the key to the teacher perception on and using of the history of Korean mathematics.
