Analysis of discussion and dispute on the future library model in Korea (도서관의 미래상에 대한 담론 및 쟁점의 분석과 형상화)

  • The purpose of this paper is to overview a recent dispute of the library of the 21st century in Korea and to suggest a desirable model of the future library. There are two visions of the future of library. The first is an access based library model(digital library) emphasizing the digital resources that are networked and browsable electronically. The second is an ownership-based library model(paper library) which emphasize the use of traditional print collections stored locally and physically browsable. A points of dispute between the paper library as storehouse and the digital library as gateway are an electronic informations versus printed materials, access versus ownership, information professional versus librarians. The idea that library as physical place and as cyberspace are diametrically o n.0, pposed is a fallacy and surrealistic opinion. Future library has to acquire, organize, preserve, and make accessible the collections that users want and need. In other words, future libraries need both ownership and access. Access to remote electronic resources must serve as a reasonable substitute for holdings of older material. Therefore, it is a balanced solution that the more heavily used or important materials be considered for ownership and selective information resources for access. No doubt, the traditional library and the digital library will be coexist in the 21 century.

  • Nozzle printing technology has been usually used for adhesive patterning to encapsulate electronic devices. Film formation of functional materials by nozzle printing is a great challenge. The characteristics of nozzle printing of organic ink were investigated systematically in this paper. TAPC as an organic emitting material was used as an ink for nozzle printing experiment to form the patterns in this study. Printed pattern width was increased as the ink flow rate and the printed substrate temperature were increased. The patterns showed a coffee-ring shape.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of an inverted-F antenna for the 2.4GHz(ISM) Bluetooth system have been analysed in terms of the variation of design parameters. The antenna can be integrated on printed circuit board, and the characteristics in terms of the variation of the gap between feed line and shorting stub, gap between antenna's leg and ground plane, antenna leg's width, substrate's height and dielectric constant are analysed By using these characterization plot of design parameter, the tuning techniques are proposed to design optimum antenna. The designed antenna has 6.3%(150MHz) frequency bandwidth for VSWR under 1.5, and 3dBi gain.

Design of PIFA type Spiral Antenna for Vehicle RKE Reader (차량 RKE 리더기용 PIFA형 스파이럴 안테나의 설계)

  • In this paper, the spiral antenna with the center frequencies of 315MHz, 433MHz, and 447MHz for RKE system of a vehicle is designed on PCB. The antenna is microstrip line-fed, and applied PIFA concept near the feeding part to easily tune center frequency and input impedance. The PIFA-type spiral antenna with the size of $30mm{\times}20mm$ is designed on printed PCB by considering the effect of circuits and components on PCB, ECU case and vehicle body. Also chip inductor inserted dual-band spiral antenna of 315MHz and 447MHz is designed. We found that the antenna designed on PCB satisfied the antenna specifications through measurement and field test.

  • Recently, roll-to-roll printers are being developed actively by various research teams such as research institutes, universities and companies for the application of printed electronics. The printing methods that are widely used in the roll-to-roll printing equipments are gravure, gravure and flexo, which depend on the inks used and electronic devices produced. In general, a single printing unit of roll-to-roll printing equipment adopts only one printing method and this method is not changeable, which limits the application fields of the developed printing equipments. In this paper, the roll-to-roll printer, in which the printing unit has the novel design concept, is described.

  • This paper presents the inkjet-printed flexible temperature and humidity sensor(F-TH sensor) using PEDOT:PSS. The series, mesh and parallel type sensing element using PEDOT:PSS ink was printed on the overhead projector(OHP) film. The fabricated sensor of each structure has the temperature sensitivity of $140{\Omega}/^{\circ}C$, $29{\Omega}/^{\circ}C$ and $1.4{\Omega}/^{\circ}C$ with linearity, respectively. Also the fabricated sensor was not only possible to measure a temperature, but also to detect humidity. The humidity sensitivity of $400{\Omega}/%RH$, $3.4{\Omega}/%RH$ and $3{\Omega}/%RH$ with linearity, respectively. The fabricated F-TH sensor is expected for the various applications such as electronic devices, bio-healthcare, industrial field.

  • In this paper, a frequency selective surface(FSS) with bandstop operation for radio-frequency spectrum management is presented. The proposed FSS is composed of patterns of fractal-based miniaturized unit cells for stable performance for angles of incidence and polarizations. For practical applications requiring high productivity and environmental compatibility, we fabricated a film-type FSS by screen-printing using Ag ink, rather than a conventional manufacturing method using a printed circuit board. To validate this study, we measured the transmission characteristics of the proposed FSS using the free-space measurement method, and observed the received strength of signal penetrating the FSS film applied to a wall.

Multi-layer Front Electrode Formation to Improve the Conversion Efficiency in Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell (결정질 실리콘 태양전지의 효율 향상을 위한 다층 전면 전극 형성)

  • Resistance of the front electrode is the highest proportion of the ingredients of the series resistance in crystalline silicon solar cell. While resistance of the front electrode is decreased with larger area, it induces the optical loss, causing the conversion efficiency drop. Therefore the front electrode with high aspect ratio increasing its height and decreasing is necessary for high-efficiency solar cell in considering shadowing loss and resistance of front electrode. In this paper, we used the screen printing method to form high aspect ratio electrode by multiple printing. Screen printing is the straightforward technology to establish the electrodes in silicon solar cell fabrication. The several printed front electrodes with Ag paste on silicon wafer showed the significantly increased height and slightly widen finger. As a result, the resistance of the front electrode was decreased with multiple printing even if it slightly increased the shadowing loss. We showed the improved electrical characteristics for c-Si solar cell with repeatedly printed front electrode by 0.5%. It lays a foundation for high efficiency solar cell with high aspect ratio electrode using screen printing.

Design of Electromagnetic Band Gap Structure for Global Navigation Satellite Service (Global-Navigation Satellite Service를 위한 Electromagnetic Band Gap 구조체 설계)

  • In this paper, a mushroom typed electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure to be inserted in the printed circuit board (PCB) inner layer in order to stabilize the PCB power line is proposed for global-navigation satellite service (GNSS). In designing the proposed EBG structure, the target stop-bandwidth was designed from 1.55GHz to 1.81GHz including GNSS and mobile communication-related frequency bandwidth. In this bandwidth, the insertion loss(S21) was observed below about -40dB. From the simulation results, it is expected that the stabilization of power delivery network (PDN) structure in the PCB circuit design should be improved and the effective correspondence to EMI will be helpful.

  • This paper introduces the reduction design technique of the resonance phenomenon of the inner PCB based on power integrity from the analysis about the inner power supply line generating RLC resonance. With the technique, the resonant frequency resulted from the structural characteristics of the PCB can be analyzed and allows to predict and the capacitor for resonance phenomenon reduction can be decided as a decoupling capacitor. From the simulation result, it was confirmed that the PCB's resonance phenomenon reduction design technique should have the reduction effect in the inner motherboard of the industrial controller. This research will be contributed to the improvement of the safety of a PDN (Power Delivery Network) structure in the layout design technique of the PCB.
