In this study, PEBAX/ZIF-8 and PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membranes were prepared according to the content of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), amine-modified ZIF-8 (amineZIF-8), the gas permeability properties of N2 and CO2 were investigated for each composite membrane. In the case of the PEBAX/ZIF-8 composite membrane, the permeability of N2 and CO2 increased as the ZIF-8 content increased, and in the case of the PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membrane, the permeability of N2 and CO2 increased up to 20 wt% of amineZIF-8, but decreased at the higher content. CO2/N2 ideal selectivity increased up to 20 wt% of ZIF-8 and amineZIF-8 contents in both PEBAX/ZIF-8 and PEBAX/ amineZIF-8 composite membranes, and then decreased thereafter, in the case of PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membrane was less decreased. The reason for the highest CO2/N2 ideal selectivity at 20 wt% of amineZIF-8 is that amine modification improved the compatibility between PEBAX and amineZIF-8, and thus amineZIF-8 was evenly dispersed in PEBAX, resulting in the greatest effect of the porous ZIF-8 with a 3.4 Å pore size and the amine with affinity for CO2.
In this paper, it has been discussed on the relation between the anatomical features of woods and the penetration of methyl methacrylate monomer system into major Korean tree species, especially the Pinus koraiensis, Larix leptolepis, Quercus mongolica and Tilia amurensis. 1. There was some differences in penetration of polymers among different tree species, but generally the penetration of ring porous woods seems to be larger than that of diffuse porous woods and it was very difficult to penetrate to Larix leptolepis, especially to the that of heart wood. 2. The penetration on transeverse surface was relatively easy but radial and tangential impregnation were somewhat hard and differences between them were negligible. 3. The penetration of sapwood was larger than that of heartwood and its differences varied according to the existence of tyloses or contents in vessel. 4. Generally the polymer penetration of earlywood was larger than that of latewood in ring porous woods, but on the contrary, penetration of earlywood was small than that of latewood on diffuse porous woods. 5. Vessel diameter of wood had nearly no relation to polymers penetration. This seems to come from the reason that effective vessel diameter varies with the existence of tyloses or contents in vessel. 6. The penetration of ray tracheids was larger than that of ray parenchyma cells in softwoods, but penetration of hardwood rays seems to be small in comparison with softwood ray parenchyma cells. 7. Specific gravity and annual ring width had no relation to the penetration of polymer.

A porous material which can contain liquid perfume was manufactured by adding 1~4 wt% of polysiloxane into a composite containing 20 ㎛ Ag powder and 30 wt% of 53 ㎛ salt, sintering for 60 min at 750℃, and melting salt selectively. The changes in pore, hardness, and microstructure were confirmed according to the polysiloxane content both before and after sintering. The manufactured silver liquid container was formed with open pores both before and after sintering, and the container shrunk by 2~7 % in both perpendicular and parallel directions after sintering. Vickers hardness was increased after sintering and was doubled when 2 wt% of polysiloxane was added. In case of the microstructure, the surface condition of the silver liquid container became darker according to the polysiloxane content, and the pore size was decreased from 50 ㎛ to under 10 ㎛. The composition distribution result revealed an even distribution when 2 wt% of polysiloxane was added but uneven distribution when over 3 wt% of polysiloxane was added due to decreased hardness by cluster. Therefore, the addition of an appropriate amount of 2 wt% polysiloxane reinforced the porous silver with open pores to offer application for jewelry usage.

This study was a preparatory experiment aimed the development of membrane scaffolds for tissue engineering. A PCL composite solution contained sodium chloride(NaCl). PCL porous membrane scaffolds were formed on a glass casting plate using a film applicator and immersed in distilled water to remove the NaCl reaching after drying. NaCl was used as a pore former for a 3 dimensional pore net-work. The dry condition parameters were $4^{\circ}C$, room temperature (RT) and $40^{\circ}C$ for each different temperatures in the drying experiment. SEM revealed the morphology of the pores in the membrane after drying and evaluated the in vitro cytotoxicity for basic bio-compatibility. The macro and micro pores existed together in the scaffold and showed a 3-dimensional pore net-working morphology at RT. The in vitro cytotoxicity test result was "grade 2" in accordance with the criterion for cytotoxicity by ISO 10993-5. The dry condition affected the formation of a 3 dimensional pore network and micro and macro pores. Therefore, these results are expected provide the basic process for the development of porous membrane scaffolds to control degradation and allow drug delivery.

A Pd-Cu-Ni alloyed hydrogen membrane has fabricated on porous nickel support formed by nickel powder. Porous nickel support made by sintering shows a strong resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and thermal fatigue. Plasma surface modification treatment is introduced as pre-treatment process instead of conventional HCl wet activation. Nickel was electroplated to a thickness of $2{\mu}m$ in order in to fill micropores at the nickel support surface. Palladium and copper were deposited at thicknesses of $4{\mu}m$ and $0.5{\mu}m$, respectively, on the nickel coated support by DC sputtering process. Subsequently, copper reflow at $700^{\circ}C$ was performed for an hour in $H_2$ ambient. And, as a result PdCu-Ni composite membrane has a pinhole-free and extremely dense microstructure, having a good adhesion to the porous nickel support and infinite hydrogen selectivity in $H_2/N_2$ mixtures.
Porous nanofibers comprising hollow ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanospheres were prepared by applying both template method and Kirkendall diffusion effect to electrospinning process. During heat-treatment processes, the solid Fe nano-metals formed by initial heat-treatment in the carbon matrix were converted into the hollow structured ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanospheres. In particular, PS nanobeads added in the spinning solution were decomposed and formed numerous channels in the composite, which served as a good pathway for Kirkendall diffusion gas. The resulting porous nanofibers comprising hollow ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanospheres were applied as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The discharge capacities of the nanofibers for the 30th cycle at a high current density of $1.0A\;g^{-1}$ was $776mA\;h\;g^{-1}$. The good lithium ion storage property was attributed to the synergetic effects of the hollow ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanospheres and the interstitial nanovoids between the nanospheres. The synthetic method proposed in this study could be applied to the preparation of porous nanofibers comprising hollow nanospheres with various composition for various applications, including energy storage.
In this article, free vibration behavior of electro-magneto-thermo sandwich Timoshenko beam made of porous core and Graphene Platelet Reinforced Composite (GPLRC) in a thermal environment is investigated. The governing equations of motion are derived by using the modified strain gradient theory for micro structures and Hamilton's principle. The magneto electro are under linear function along the thickness that contains magnetic and electric constant potentials and a cosine function. The effects of material length scale parameters, temperature change, various distributions of porous, different distributions of graphene platelets and thickness ratio on the natural frequency of Timoshenko beam are analyzed. The results show that an increase in aspect ratio, the temperature change, and the thickness of GPL leads to reduce the natural frequency; while vice versa for porous coefficient, volume fractions and length of GPL. Moreover, the effect of different size-dependent theories such as CT, MCST and MSGT on the natural frequency is investigated. It reveals that MSGT and CT have most and lowest values of natural frequency, respectively, because MSGT leads to increase the stiffness of micro Timoshenko sandwich beam by considering three material length scale parameters. It is seen that by increasing porosity coefficient, the natural frequency increases because both stiffness and mass matrices decreases, but the effect of reduction of mass matrix is more than stiffness matrix. Considering the piezo magneto-electric layers lead to enhance the stiffness of a micro beam, thus the natural frequency increases. It can be seen that with increasing of the value of WGPL, the stiffness of microbeam increases. As a result, the value of natural frequency enhances. It is shown that in hc/h = 0.7, the natural frequency for WGPL = 0.05 is 8% and 14% less than its for WGPL = 0.06 and WGPL = 0.07, respectively. The results show that with an increment in the length and width of GPLs, the natural frequency increases because the stiffness of micro structures enhances and vice versa for thickness of GPLs. It can be seen that the natural frequency for aGPL = 25 ㎛ and hc/h = 0.6 is 0.3% and 1% more than the one for aGPL = 5 ㎛ and aGPL = 1 ㎛, respectively.

In this study, compression analyses of sandwich composites with porous core were carried out. Finite element models of aluminum foam and honeycomb core sandwich composite material were applied solid element. In the case of aluminum foam core, valid equivalence damage model was applied. In the in-plane compression analysis, the maximum load of aluminum foam core sandwich was similar with that of aluminum honeycomb core sandwich. But in case of aluminum honeycomb core sandwich, the load support region becomes longer in comparison with aluminum foam core sandwich. In the out-plane compression analysis, compression maximum load of aluminum honeycomb core sandwich was higher than that of aluminum foam core sandwich. Through these Simulation analysis, obtains the behavior of sandwich composites.
The principal objective of this study is to assess the hierarchical effects of defects on the elastic stiffness properties at different levels of observation. In particular, quantitative damage measures which characterize the fundamental mode of degradation in the form of elastic damage provide quite insightful meanings at the level of constitutive relations and at the level of structures. For illustration, a total of three model problems of increasing complexity, a 1-D bar structure, a 2-D stress concentration problem, and a heterogeneous composite material made of a matrix with particle inclusions. Considering a damage scenario for the particle inclusions the material system degrades from a composite with very stiff inclusions to a porous material with an intact matrix skeleton. In other damage scenario for the matrix, the material system degrades from a composite made of a very stiff skeleton to a disconnected assembly of particles because of progressive matrix erosion. The trace-back and forth of tight bounds in terms of the reduction of the lowest eigenvalues are extensively discussed at different levels of observation.

Carbon fiber fabric-silicon carbide composites were fabricated by liquid silicon infiltration (LSI) process. The porous two-dimensional carbon fiber fabric performs were prepared by 13 plies of 2D-plain-weave fabric in a three laminating method, [0/90], [${\pm}45$], [$0/90/{\pm}45$] lay-up, respectively. Before laminating, a thin pyrolytic carbon (PyC) layer deposited on the surface of 2D-plain weave fabric sheets as interfacial layer with $C_3H_8$ and $N_2$ gas at $900^{\circ}C$. A densification of the preforms for $C_f-Si-SiC$ matrix composite was achieved according to the LSI process at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. in vacuum atmosphere. The bending strength of the each composite were measured and the microstructural consideration was performed by a FE-SEM.
