COVID-19, Remittance Inflows, and the Stock Market: Empirical Evidence from Bangladesh

  • This study's motivation is to investigate the association between the stock market, remittance, and the pandemic of COVID-19 for the period from March 3, 2020, to December 14, 2020. For evaluating the impact of COVID-19 and remittances on stock market behaviour during the pandemic, the study applies Autoregressive Distributed lagged (ARDL) for magnitudes estimation and directional association through the Toda-Yamamoto causality test. Study findings from ARDL estimation revealed that COVID-19 measured by detecting new cases negatively influences the stock market both in the long-term and short-term. Remittance positively influences the stock market behaviour, particularly in the long-term. Furthermore, the directional causality test disclosed unidirectional causal effects between COVID-19 and the stock market behaviour, which establishes all proxy measures for the equation's stock market. The hypothesis results explain the causal relationship between remittance inflows and the stock market in Bangladesh. The study's application will help policymakers rethink the policies for channelizing remittances for productive investment areas. Furthermore, the study's findings will reinstate the widely perceived notions, which is the critical role of remittance in the economy even though the economy passes through a great pandemic.

Perceptions of preservice teachers on AI chatbots in English education

  • With recent scientific advances and growing interest in AI technologies, AI-based chatbots have been viewed as a practical learning aid for English language development. The purpose of this study is to examine preservice teachers' perceptions on the potential benefits of employing AI chatbots in English instruction and its pedagogical aspects. 28 preservice teachers majoring in English education were asked to use Kuki chatbots for a week with a guidance of a researcher and then report on their perceptions of AI chatbots in terms of perceived usefulness after use, applicability, and educational benefits and drawbacks. Emerging codes and themes were identified and evaluated using Thematic Analysis(TA) based on qualitative data from surveys and interviews. The findings show that six emerging themes were identified, encompassing perspectives on teacher, learner, communication, linguistic, affective, and assessment. The overall findings of this study revealed that AI-based chatbots can play a significant role as learning tools for stimulating interactive communication in a target language. Most preservice primary teachers acknowledge that AI chatbots can be useful as teaching and learning aids for both teachers and students. Furthermore, when applying various learner data to chatbot technology, such as learner assessment and diagnosis, a guided approach is necessary to perform a conversation appropriate for the learner's level and characteristics. Finally, as chatbots have a variety of benefits in terms of affective aspects, they may improve EFL learners' confidence in speaking English and learning motivation.

척수손상환자의 사회적 지지와 재활동기 (The Rehabilitation Motive and Social Support by Spinal Cord Injury Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between rehabilitation motive and social support perceived by spinal cord injury patients. Method: Data were collected by the questionnaires from 83 patients with spinal cord injury in a hospital. It was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Peason's correlation coefficients. Result: The social support score was 3.51 of 5 in average. The connectedness of subordinate portion was the highest as 3.57. The rehabilitation motive was 2.93 of maximum 4.00 in average. Among sub-dimensions of the rehabilitation motive, the mean score of change oriented motivation was 3.27 as the highest. The higher the direct support, the higher the indirect support(r=.663, p=.000). The higher the rehabilitation motive, the higher the direct(r=.282, p=.010) and indirect support(r=.397, p=.000). Conclusion: According to this study, the social support had the significant relationship with the rehabilitation motive. The social support was the key factor to enhance the rehabilitation motive psychologically. Finally, there is a need to develop the nursing intervention improve the social support for the spinal cord injury patients.

Comparing the Effects of Two Methods of Education (Online versus Offline) and Gender on Information Security Behaviors

  • The importance of information security is increasing, and various efforts are being made to improve users' information security behaviors. Among these various efforts, information security education is mainly aimed at providing users with information security knowledge and improving information security awareness. This study classified the types of information security education into offline and online to examine the effects of each education method on attitudes toward information security (perceived severity, vulnerability, self-efficacy and response-efficacy) and information security behaviors. A survey was conducted for users with information security education experiences. The results obtained by comparing the differences in the path coefficients of personal information security behaviors according to information security education experiences showed that security behaviors were more significant in the online experience group than the offline group. In addition, gender differences were analyzed, and it was found that females had a greater impact on information security attitudes than males. This study also found that among Internet users with online information security education experience, females tend to have more information security behavior than males, but there were contrasting results among users with offline information security education experiences. The results of this study finally address the necessity of reflecting users' personalities in the systematic design of information security education in the future. Furthermore, the results of this study support the need for an appropriate education system that sufficiently understands education types to maximize the effects of information security education.

보육교사의 평가인증 경험에 따른 평가인증제에 대한 인식비교 -2차 평가인증지표를 중심으로- (Childcare Teacher's Perception of the Accreditation System Based on Accreditation Experience -Focused on the Second Accreditation Index of Childcare Centers-)

  • 본 연구는 1차 평가인증지표를 토대로 평가인증을 받은 어린이집에 근무하는 보육교사를 대상으로 평가인증 경험에 따라 평가인증의 운영과 제2차 평가인증 지표의 실현성에 대한 인식에 차이가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 1차 평가인증에 통과한 40인 이상 어린이집에 근무하는 보육교사 193명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였으며, 빈도분석, $X^2$ 검증, t-검정을 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 보육교사의 평가인증 경험에 따른 평가인증제 운영에 대한 인식의 차이는 평가인증통과 후 사후 유지관리에 중요하다고 생각하는 사항에서만 나타났다. 인증경험이 없는 교사는 '시설장 및 보육교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 지속적인 교육'을, 인증경험이 있는 교사는 '보육교사의 의지 및 지속적 근무'를 가장 중요하게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 교사의 평가인증 경험에 따른 인증지표의 실현성에 대한 인식은 보육환경 영역의 '예술활동자료', 운영관리 영역의 '보육시설의 운영방침 및 정보 안내', '원아에 대한 관리', '종사자의 근로계약', 건강과 영양 영역의 '식자재, 조리 및 배식과정의 위생적 관리', '아프거나 다친 영유아의 보호', '영유아와 종사자의 건강관리', '영유아를 위한 간식', 안전영역의 '영유아의 안전한 인계과정' 항목에서 평가인증 경험이 있는 보육교사가 경험이 없는 교사에 비해 실현성이 높다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났으며, 전반적으로 모든 영역에서 평가인증 참여경험이 있는 교사가 제2차 평가인증지표의 실현성을 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다.

중학교 과학영재학생과 일반학생들의 직업가치관 구조분석: 사회네트워크적 접근 (Analyzing the Structure of Science Gifted and General Middle School Students' Values of Career: Social Network Approach)

  • 직업가치관은 학생들의 직업동기 형성에 핵심적인 역할을 한다. 특히 지속가능한 미래 과학기술인력 공급과 육성을 위해서 과학영재들의 이공계 직업에 대한 직업가치관 형성은 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 이 연구는 사회네트워크 분석법을 통하여 중학교 과학영재와 일반학생들의 자신의 희망 직업과 관련된 직업 가치관을 비교 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 학생들이 희망하는 직업과 그 직업을 선택한 이유에 해당하는 직업가치관으로 구성된 네트워크를 구조화한 후, 사회 네트워크 분석법을 통해 산출된 네트워크의 구조적 지표들을 바탕으로 두 집단의 인식 네트워크의 특성을 확인하였다. 과학영재 학생들과 일반학생들의 네트워크를 비교분석한 결과, 첫째, 과학영재학생들은 창의성을 가장 중요한 직업가치관 요소로 생각하고 있었다. 둘째, 과학영재들은 직업선택 과정에서 일반학생들보다 다양한 직업가치관 요소들을 고려하고 있었다. 셋째, 과학영재들은 이공계열과 의약계열 직업 모두에 대해서 능력발휘와 같은 자아실현 관점을 중심으로 직업가치관을 고려했으나, 일반학생들은 사회봉사를 가장 큰 직업가치관 요소로 보고 있었다. 이 연구는 과학영재학생들의 희망 직업에 대한 직업가치관 구조가 일반학생과 많은 차이가 있음을 확인하고, 과학영재학생들의 진로 직업을 지도하는데 있어 직업가치관과 관련된 네트워크적 기초자료를 제공했다는데 그 의의가 있다.

소비자의 블록체인 기반 저작권 유통 플랫폼 수용의도와 이용행위에 관한 연구 (A Study on User's Acceptance of Blockchain-based Copyright Distribution Platforms and Its Usage)

  • Purpose - Blockchain technology, which has the characteristics of credibility, security, integrity and decentralization, has brought innovation to internet platforms that mediate peer to peer transactions, as well as changes to the contents distribution services. Blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms can solve problems which have been articulated on prior internet social networks: increased market dominance of platform business because of centralization with no reward to creators who upload on platforms, and lack of fairness, such as unfair profit distribution between the copyright holder and businesses. With this background, the current research confirmed the factors that affect the intention of usage and behaviors, targeting potential users of blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms. Research design, data, and methodology - Centered around the UTAUT2 Model, the research model was designed with 'Perceived Security' added as Construct, and 'Age' and 'Knowledge Level' added as moderating variables. For data, 607 responses were collected by an online survey, and 601 responses were included in the final analysis. We analyzed the research model and sample by using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 on the collected responses. Results - First, results of research on whether Constructs make positive effects on Intention of use is: social influence, facilitating conditions, habit, and perceived security had positive effects on intention of use, and performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and economic value did not. Second, results of the research on whether facilitating condition, habit, and intention of use made an impact on using behaviors, it was shown that only habit and intention of use made positive effects. Third, in two groups divided by age above or under 40, group effort expectancy, intention of use, habit, and intention of use had controlling effects, and facilitating condition, intention of use, perceived security, and intention of use had effects in both groups. Conclusions - The research shows that no matter how great a blockchain-based platform is, if advantages of blockchain are not proved in various industries and utilized in real life like the internet, blockchain-based distribution systems will develop slowly. Rather than a short-term inducement emphasizing technology, there is a need for a strategic approach that can foster the environment.

인터넷 구매결정과정에서의 관여도의 조절효과에 관한 연구 (Examining the Moderating Effect of Involvement in the Internet Purchase Decision Process)

  • With the explosive growth of the Internet, Internet shopping malls have become recognized as one of the major purchasing channels for consumers, as well as one of the competitive distribution channels for companies that allow them to contact with customers without intermediaries. It has motivated information systems(IS) researchers to examine the factors influencing consumer behavior and the purchase decision process in the context of Internet shopping malls. Despite the extensive research that has been conducted on the purchase decision process of consumers in online shopping malls, the results have demonstrated a need for further understanding of consumer behavior due to the unique features of virtual space and the characteristics of online consumers. Previous studies from marketing and consumer behavior domains have suggested that the concept of involvement plays an important role in explaining consumers' purchase behavior. Despite the critical role of involvement and the explosive growth of e-commerce, little research has examined the role of involvement in the Internet shopping mall context. With this motivation, this study has two research objectives. First, it introduces and tests an theoretical model capable of better explaining consumers' intention to purchase in the Internet shopping mall context. The proposed model extends and integrates existing models on purchase intention by incorporating purchase experience, innovativeness, and perceived self-control as the consumer factors, along with perceived risk, information provision, and perceived price as the Internet shopping mall factors. Second, this study examines how involvement differences may affect consumers' intention to purchase. For this purpose, two factors from involvement theory, involvement type and involvement level, are introduced into the research model as moderating variables. In order to test the proposed model, the overall approach employed was a field study using the structural equation model. We developed our data collection instrument by adopting existing validated questions wherever possible. All question items were measured with a seven-point, Likert-type scale, with anchors ranging from 'strongly disagree' to 'strongly agree.' Two IS researchers reviewed the instrument and checked its face validity. We collected empirical data for this study over a period of two weeks from subjects who had purchase experiences through Internet shopping malls. A total of 473 complete and valid responses were obtained. We carried out data analysis using a two-step methodology with AMOS 4.0. The first step in the data analysis was to establish the convergent and discriminant validity of the constructs. In the second step, we examined the structural model based on the cleansed measurement model. The empirical results partly support the proposed model and identify the moderating effect of involvement differences. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed, along with its limitations.

창업교육이 중국대학생의 창업의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Entrepreneurship Education on the Entrepreneurship Intention of Chinese University Students)

  • 최근 몇 년 사이 대학생들이 중국 혁신과 창업의 주역으로 부상하고 있다. 본 논문은 TPB 이론을 바탕으로 창업 교육 변수를 도입하고 대학생을 대상으로 한 창업 교육이 창업 의욕에 미치는 영향 모델을 구축하였다. 본 논문에서는 행동 태도, 주관적 규범, 인지적 행동조절, 기업가정신 교육 및 기업가적 의도 등 5가지 변수가 포함된 설문을 활용하여 중국 길림성에 소재한 6개 대학의 학생들을 대상으로 조사하였고 SPSS23.0을 사용하여 통계분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과 계획된 행동 이론의 세 가지 요소인 행동 태도, 주관적 규범, 인지적 행동조절과 비교했을 때 대학생들의 기업가정신 교육이 기업가적 의도에 가장 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 논문은 대학에서 창업 교육을 강화하는 데 선도적 의의가 있다. 본 연구는 길림성 소재 6개 대학 학생들만을 대상으로 한 것으로 연구결과를 일반화하기위해서는 향후 중국 전역으로 연구범위를 확장할 필요가 있다.

모바일 메신저 보안인식과 보안의도를 통한 개인정보 보호행동에 미치는 영향 - 자기결정성 이론을 중심으로 - (The effects on privacy protection behavior through mobile messenger security awareness and security intention - Focus on Theory of Self-Determination -)

  • 최근 모바일 어플리케이션을 기반으로 하는 모바일 메신저 산업이 빠른 성장세에 있다. 그리고 단순히 메신저를 공유하던 형태를 넘어 개인에게 맞춤형 정보를 제공하는 다양한 형태의 서비스를 제공하게 되면서 혁신적인 변화를 일으키고 있다. 또한 메신저 보안이 개인화되고 지능화된 기능을 통해 더 다양한 모바일 어플리케이션의 보안에 대한 중요성이 증가되고 있다. 본 연구는 국내 모바일 메신저 이용자들이 어플리케이션 서비스 이용요인들에 대해 파악하고 이들 요인이 모바일 보안에 대한 보안인식과 보안태도를 통해 개인정보보호행동에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 인과관계를 실증 연구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 인간의 본연적인 내재적 동기를 강조한 자기결정성(SDT: Self-Determination Theory) 이론의 주요 변수들을 적용한 연구모형을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 연구모형을 실증적으로 검증하기 위해 모바일 메신저를 이용한 경험이 있는 일반인과 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 지각된 자율성은 보안인식과 보안의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지각된 유능성은 보안의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 지각된 관계성은 보안인식과 보안의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 보안인식과 보안의도는 개인정보 보호행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 개인의 메신저의 보안의 중요성을 강조하고 소비자들에게 필요한 보안지침 개발을 위한 긍정적인 역할을 하는데 기여하고자 한다.
