  • The relationship between education and work is of the greatest concern to individuals and society because they are the key drivers of growth and development. In the context of Industry 4.0, labor and educators are facing the challenges of big changes in the workplace. How to prepare undergraduate students for the world of employment has become the most important mission of higher education providers. This paper explored the competency gap in the labor market in Vietnam from the perspective of employees who have been dissatisfied with the current status. First, a qualitative method with the Delphi technique was applied to confirm this consensus in an employees' competency model. Then, the satisfaction level for each competency criterion was explored by applying the advance quantitative method, namely, best non-fuzzy performance approach. Lifelong learning was ranked first, followed by creativity and innovation, foreign languages, expertise and digitalization, adaptability, and finally, organizing and managing ability. Critical thinking and problem-solving were perceived to have the biggest gap. The order of competency satisfaction is useful in explaining the mismatch between education quality and labor market demand. The findings provide valuable guidelines for education managers who seek to bridge the competency gap and improve education quality.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relation between factors related to the clinical performance competency of dental hygiene students and their clinical learning environment. Methods: The study conducted a survey of dental hygiene students from October 18 to 30, 2023. The data were analyzed using one way analysis of variance, t-test, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The total practicum lasted ≤10 weeks, 11-15 weeks, and ≥16 weeks for 41.7%, 33.5%, and 24.8% of the students, respectively. Half of them had experience at only one clinical institution. Clinical learning environment had an average score of 3.46 points, whereas the average clinical performance competency of the participants was 3.60 points. The major influencing factors on clinical performance competency were identified as preceptor' s guidance (β=0.277), work participation opportunities (β=0.213), and perceived importance of clinical practice (β=0.136). Conclusions: Efforts are required to provide students with prior education on the importance of clinical practice, improve the clinical learning environment with a focus on preceptor's guidance and work participation opportunities. And standardize various elements to resolve differences in the practice of clinical institutions across regions.

Method: The subjects of this study were 327 nurses who were working at seven hospitals. The data were collected by structured questionnaire from Feb. 12 to Mar. 5 of 2006. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression on SPSS/PC 12.0 program. Results: The mean score of self-efficacy was 3.75, empowerment was 3.68, perceived organizational support(POS) was 2.87, and organizational citizenship behavior(OCB) was 3.64. The POS had statistically significant differences according to position(F=3.207, p=.013). The self-efficacy and empowerment were positively correlated with POS and OCB. The self-efficacy(7.0%), meaning(8.5%), competency(12.4%), self-determination(1.9%), and impact(4.8%) explained 34.6% of the variance for POS. The self-efficacy(17.1%), meaning(1.0%), competency(2.8%), self-determination(3.2%), and impact(13.2%) explained 37.3% of the variance for OCB. Conclusion: The findings showed that self-efficacy and empowerment were important factors for enhancing POS and OCB in nursing organization. Therefore, the nurse manager must establish the strategies to improve the self-efficacy and empowerment of the nurses in order to promote the POS and OCB.

  • The purpose of this study was to observe the difference and patterns of relationship between parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law based on the perceived agreement of quality of relationship and communication. A total of 138 dyad relationships between parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law from Seoul, Kyunggi-Do, and Cholla-Do were analyzed. The study results showed that parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law perceived their relationship as an average and above and parents-in-law perceived their relationship more positively than daughters-in-law. A total of 4 clusters were categorized by cluster analysis based on the agreement of perceived relationship and communication: parents-in-law perceived their relationship positively but daughters-in-law were not(cluster 1), daughters-in-law perceived their relationship positively but parents-in-law were not(cluster 2), both parents-in-law and daughters-in-law perceived their relationship positively(cluster 3), both parents-in-law and daughters-in-law perceived their relationship negatively(cluster 4). In order to observe the characteristics of relationship patterns, ANOVA were performed. Cultural competency of parents-in-law appeared to relate to their relationship with daughters-in-law. Acculturative stress of daughters-in-law who have good relationship with their parents-in-law was low and marital satisfaction of them was high. In addition, life satisfaction of parents-in-law who have good relationship with their daughters-in-law was high. Implication of this study was discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to research how a teaching personality and ethics in teaching affect the competence of students majoring in early childhood education. Questionnaires were distributed to 211 early childhood education students residing in I-city. For this study, frequency analysis, averages, and standard deviation were calculated by using SPSS 22.0, with Cronbach's alpha for the reliability test. To determine the relevance of each variable, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were done, with results as follows. First, the teaching personalities perceived most by the students were morality and educational principles. Ethics for infants and ethics for households were most perceived in the ethics of teaching; for competency, understanding of the curriculum, understanding infant protection, and learning support were perceived the most. Second, there is a statistically significant correlation among a teacher's personality, ethics, and competence. Third, the sub-factors of both personality and ethics have a positive effect on competence. The above results indicate that there should be multilateral research into students majoring in early childhood education to ensure they have correct and positive competency so they can provide high-quality early childhood education services, recognizing the importance of competence.
