Purpose: This study examined the needs for asthma education programs as perceived by school-age children, parents, and teachers and investigated parents' and teachers' expectations for incorporating augmented reality (AR) in asthma education. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study included 339 participants: 125 school-age children, 132 parents, and 82 teachers. Data were collected from children, parents, and teachers on the need for asthma education, the requirements for asthma education, and the expectations of parents and teachers for incorporating AR in asthma education. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, and the Scheffé test. Results: Asthmatic children and their peers, parents, and teachers all felt there was a significant need for education about asthma, with education on how to deal with an asthma attack being needed the most. The incorporation of AR programs in asthma education was viewed positively by both parents and teachers. Conclusion: An AR children's asthma education program should be developed in which children with asthma and their peers, parents, and teachers can participate together. Furthermore, it is expected that children with asthma will independently undertake more effective disease management after attending an AR asthma education program.
Objective: The goal of this study is to examine child care center teachers'awareness of parents through a metaphor analysis. Methods: Metaphorical expressions and reason-statements were collected from 276 teachers. Metaphor analysis was used through categorizing and assorting by meanings. Results: The teachers' metaphorical image expressions of parents were analyzed by using 13 metaphorical expression words and 3 categories which included, influence on teacher's attitudes, parent-teacher relationships, and parents' attitudes. Metaphorical image expressions that had a high ratio were 'a companion' and 'a client.' First, child care center teachers had images of parents that parents provide courageous energy to them, and images of clients who demand service instead of being parents. Second, child care center teachers had images of parents that parents cooperate with teachers for the sake of their children. Third, child care teachers had images of parents that parents need help with their children. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests that teachers will be able to positively correct their awareness of cooperative parent-teacher relationships by reviewing their metaphorical expressions of parental images.

This study is conducted to analyze the parents' perceptions of policy and needs of the elementary SW education. We surveyed in targeting 273 parents who did not participate living in big and small cities and 74 parents participated in the SW-related event. And we analyzed the differences in policy and the need of the SW education of the groups. Analysis showed that parents who participated in the SW-related events were considered to be positive about education than parents who non-participated in the SW-related events. They who participated in the SW-related events also recognized that the SW education needs for the child' s future. Based on these results, in order to include the SW education in formal education curriculum in elementary education, we have to conduct a variety of SW-related events aimed at parents. And we could see the effort required for the promotion of the general public people.
This study aims to classify parents by considering important factors in the management of foodservice for children. An offline survey was conducted by enrolling 583 Korean parents whose children attended public or private kindergartens in Seoul. The important factors required for managing foodservice for children are meal service resources, menu management, and food allergy. Considering these factors, parents were grouped into 3 clusters: the allergy important group, environment important group, and high concern group. Evaluation of the demographic characteristics revealed a significant difference between clusters with respect to type of kindergarten. Parents perceived that a private kitchen is more required than a private dining room, and perceptions about the need for a private kitchen and dining room were significantly different among the clusters. Furthermore, the results reveal significant differences between clusters, when considering the need to support meal service. Therefore, the government needs to consider characteristics of the parent cluster if they plan to support the kindergarten foodservice. We believe that this study can be used as supportive data to establish a working policy.

The purpose of this study was to examine the demand of parents and teachers for a children's library and analyze the need in consideration of their age and children's library-using frequency. The subjects in this study were 1,500 parents and teachers in the region of Gwangju, on whom a survey was implemented to find out the necessity of a children's library, what should be considered in terms of design and program development and what forms of materials should be provided. As a result of checking their needs for the functions of a library, the parents and teachers investigated attached importance to culture, welfare and hands-on culture/art programs as what a library should focus on. Second, as for design, they gave top priority to comfortableness(sanitary facilities, ventilation, humidity and temperature) and safety(sofas, cushions and carpets for children). Third, as to program preference, both of the parents and teachers considered activity, performance and educational programs necessary among multiple kinds of ongoing programs. Specifically, performance programs ranked first among the parents and third among the teachers. Activity programs ranked first among the teachers and third among the parents. Fourth, concerning the importance of materials possessed by a library, they placed the most emphasis on the kind of materials that could foster creativity and instill the right personality.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the recognition of the parents of scientifically gifted children of the need for parent education. In order to attain this goal, questions were developed about their recognition for the need of a parent education program. A sample of parents (N=121) was selected. Data analysis indicated that the instruments developed in this study had proper validity and reliability measurements (Chronbach ${\alpha}=0.93$ for parent questionnaire). The results showed that parents want parent education, but they don't have the opportunities for it. Parents want information on courses, creativity development and counselling. Parents are especially anxious to obtain information on their children's courses. Finally, results revealed positive correlations between parents' needs and experiences in parent education. The results of study give some implications for developing parent education programs.
Congenital heart disease is the most frequently shown congenital disease among children, most of them can be corrected with operation. However, Patients and their parents need nursing intervention when they face this risky incident of operation. Therefore, parents' experiences are absolutely needed to plan nursing intervention to give practical help to the patients and their parents. The purpose of this study is to provide basic resources to develop a feasible intervention program for the parents by understanding the experiences related to the informed consent of cardiac surgery of their child. From January to June 2003, 10 parents of children patients with congenital heart disease were interviewed who filled out Operation Agreement before the primary operation after they are diagnosed as congenital heart disease in pediatric chest surgery of A hospital in Seoul. They were asked to give opinion regarding pre-operation needs and the interviewed information was analyzed. The results of this study are as follows : Firstly, they were asked what they felt before they were told about the operation of their children from the doctor before filling out the informed consent of operation. They felt 1) vague, 2) confusion of choose, 3) risky, 4) resented, 5) uneasy, 6) guilty, and 7) the burden of operation. Secondly, they were asked what they felt after they filled out the informed consent of operation and the doctor gave them detailed information on the operation of their children. They felt 1) confused, 2) responsible, 3) rejected, 4) angry, 5) plain, 6) to have hope, 7) trying to trust medical people, 8) that consolation is needed, and 9) conditional reduction of the burden of operation. Thirdly, followings are the categories of congenital parents' demand before operation based on the analysis of experiences related to the preparation of the informed consent of operation. 1) Information Demand (1) Anticipatory information (2) Concrete and precise information (3) Individual information 2) Support (1) Empathy (2) Parental supporting (3) Support of parents in the same situation 3) Education and consulting (1) Children-oriented Education (2) Consultation Considering the results of this study, parents of the child with congenital heart disease seem to have various emotional experiences related to filling out the informed consent and they need concrete and practical helps before cardiac surgery. This study proposes that systematic nursing intervention is needed according to the needs of the parents who have the child with congenital heart disease before operation in the field of child health nursing.
This study had the following four objectives: a) to measure the quality attributes of school foodservice based on responses of students, parents, and faculty members, b) to compare the quality attributes by city and province, c) to analyze the overall satisfaction of the respondents, and d) to identify the effects of the quality attributes on overall satisfaction by city and province. Questionnaires were distributed to 5,560 students, 1,920 parents, and 1,920 faculty members, and were collected using on/off-line mail (collection rate: 100%). The data were analyzed using SPSS for descriptive analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis. From the quality attributes analysis, 'providing information on foodservice' was perceived as being performed well by the students (78.8), parents (76.0), and faculty (87.7). However, 'pleasant foodservice environment' was given low scores by the students (62.4), and 'entertains suggestions offered to foodservice' was perceived as low by 66.1% of the parents and 74.9% of the faculty. Upon comparing the quality attributes by city and province, the majority of scores by students and parents in Busan were significantly higher than those of students and parents in others geographical areas. The overall satisfaction levels (scores) were as follows: 66.4 for students, 70.0 for parents and, 76.8 for faculty. Finally, in the regression results, which showed the effects of the quality attributes on overall satisfaction by city and province, improvements of 'food taste', 'kindness offered by employees', and 'menu variety' would increase satisfaction in most cities and provinces. However, other identified attributes were significantly different among the 16 cities and provinces that were examined. Therefore, these regions will need to make different efforts to improve customer satisfaction for school foodservice.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess the dietary behaviors of preschool children using the nutrition quotient for preschoolers (NQ-P) and analyzed the difference in the scores of the children's dietary behaviors in regards to the parents' health consciousness. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The subjects were 257 children aged 3-5 years and their parents residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The questionnaire is composed of demographic characteristics, the NQ-P questions, and health consciousness. All data were statistically analyzed by SPSS program (ver. 25.0) and the statistical differences in variables were evaluated by χ2 test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, 1-way analysis of variance and Tukey's multiple comparison test. RESULTS: There was a significant difference on the intake frequency of processed meat by region and fast foods by age, region, and weight status (P < 0.05). There was also a significant difference in not moving around while eating by weight status and parents' effort to have healthy eating habits by sex (P < 0.05). The mean score of NQ-P of the total subjects was 59.47, which was within the medium-low grade. The mean score of balance was 61.62, and the boys were significantly higher than girls (P < 0.05). As the age of children increased, the mean score of the moderation was significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The scores of NQ-P (P < 0.05), balance (P < 0.01), and environment (P < 0.05) were significantly higher in the high group of parents' health consciousness than the low group. CONCLUSIONS: According to the results of the evaluation by NQ-P, the dietary behaviors of preschoolers residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do need to be improved. For improving their eating behavior and nutritional health status, parents and children need customized nutrition education programs based on sex, age, region and weight status of preschool children as well as the degree of parents' health consciousness.
This study sought to understand the requirements of registered institutions and parents of beneficiary children's through a satisfaction survey conducted at Center for Children's Foodservice Management (CCFSM) and to improve quality to create a model example of site-based meal safety management in accordance with population trends. In 2019, the comprehensive satisfaction level of the director and parents rose 2.4 points and 2.9 points, respectively, compared to the previous year, and the comprehensive satisfaction level of the director and parents continued to rise from 2015 to 2019. The gap between the highest and lowest institutions is narrowed to 13.5 points year-on-year from 21.4 points. National Institute of Food and Nutrition Service will need to make efforts to upgrade regional centers through (Human Resource Development(HRD) training to strengthen their job-specific capabilities and minimize the standard deviation of each center. Since local centers are distributed across the country and have field-oriented service support systems, CCFSM will need to manage the healthy eating habits of the underprivileged, provide information necessary to establish proper eating habits, strengthen education, and establish a customized food safety service system.
