This study focuses on the differences in family values, which is a cause of family dissolution and conflicts of marriage immigrant women. This study was conducted on 441 women in Vietnam. It was done to explore their family values. Specifically, the following were examined: the overall family values and martial status of Vietnamese women; differences in their family values by region (northern, central, southern). The survey questionnaire consists of the following content: 'family perception'; 'gender-role values'; 'elderly parent support value'. The characteristics of family values of Vietnamese women are as follows. First, the scope of family perceived by them was relatively narrow. In particular, most of them didn't perceive the parents of a spouse as a familymember. Second, in terms of gender-roles, they perceived men and women as equal and didn't have strong perception of traditional gender roles. Third, they felt strongly about supporting elderly parents. The perception of supporting elderly parents is based on equal gender roles, instead of the paternalistic approach. They preferred financial support to living with parents. There were also differences in family values by region. Also, their values seemed to be the opposite of the ones well-known by region. In addition, their values were changing amid economic growth and modernization. Residents in Can Tho in the south - known to have open-minded Southeast Asian values - had the most patrilineal, traditional values with strong perception towards supporting elderly parents. Residents in Hanoi in the north - known to have heavy influence of Confucian culture - had non-traditional values with positive attitude towards liberal sex culture, divorce, and remarriage. Residents in Da Nang, a central region, had a mixture of northern and southern characteristics in terms of family values.
The main purpose of this research is to investigate the qualitative nature of Korean adolescents and their parent's perception of elderly parents care. In addition, this research exams the quantitative differences between the two generations in term of their elderly parents care self-efficacy and attitude towards caring for their elderly parents. Further, an examination of the parental influence upon their children's elderly parents care self-efficacy and attitude towards caring for their elderly parents. There were 2,460 participants in this study, with 820 adolescents, and 820 fathers and 820 mothers. The results of the study were as follows: First, in terms the participants perceptions of "the most difficult aspect of caring for elderly parents", the most representative response for adolescents was financial difficulties, while for parents differences in opinions. When it came to "the best aspect of caring for elderly parents" the most representative response for adolescents was harmonious family, while for parents good for children's upbringing. When it came to "actual acts (behavior) of elderly parents care" the most representative response for adolescents was living together with their elderly parents, while for parents looking after their elderly parents. When it came to "the best method of caring for their elderly parents" the most representative response for both adolescents and parents was providing a peace-of-mind for their elderly parents, followed by the second most frequent response of adolescents living together with their elderly parents, and for parents talking with their elderly parents. When it came to "how one feels when not caring for their elderly parents" the most representative response for both groups was a feeling of indebtedness. Second, for the quantitative analyses of the differences between the two generations, the parents showed a lower level of elderly parents care self-efficacy and a higher level of negative attitude towards caring for their elderly parents, when compared to the adolescents. Third, for the parental influence upon the adolescents' elderly parents care self-efficacy and attitude towards caring for their elderly parents, the only significant influence found was the mothers' elderly parents care self-efficacy.
In this study, 354 college students responded to questionnaires on parental roles, and their parents' and their own attitudes about childrearing. Data were analyzed by SPSS. Findings were that most college students perceived instrumental reasons for becoming a parent, and the parental role as consultant and provision of financial support. Most college students thought that mothers and fathers gave equal responsibility for raising children, that information on childrearing is to be found among friends and other adults, and that pre-parenthood education is important. They perceived their own parents to be satisfied with their parental roles, and they perceived both their patents and themselves to hold favorable attitudes about childrearing. Students' attitudes about childrearing correlated positively with their perceptions about their parents' childrearing attitudes.

In this study, a survey was carried out on 150 parents who have regular children attending integrated childcare centers in J area, through March 2 to March 10, 2012, with the purpose of figuring out the Effects of Attitudes toward Disabled Children on Integrated Childcare Attitudes in Regular Parents. The results are summarized as follows. First, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on regular integrated childcare attitudes showed that cognitive and emotional factors had a statistically significant positive effect on regular attitudes. Second, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on children's activities and teachers' concerns for integrated childcare showed that cognitive and behavioral factors had a statistically significant positive effect on children's activities and teachers' concerns. Third, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on behavioral problems of integrated childcare showed that cognitive, emotional and behavioral factors had a statistically significant positive effect on behavioral problems. As for findings stated as above, there was a difference in integrated childcare attitude depending on regular parents' attitude toward disabled children. This implies that there is a difference in cognitive and emotional attitudes toward disabled children in regular parents, acting as positive factors that raise the integrated childcare attitude for the improvement of perception on these factors. Consequently, for the integrated childcare, both disabled children and regular children should admit each other's diversity and accept different each other's existence, and the perception change of parents, who try to respect and learn together, should be preceded.
This study is about the working mother's parental attitude and the psychological well-being of children. This investigation also analyzed the differences in the psychological well-being of children according to socio-demographic variables and whether there was a percieved affective nurturing attitude and monitoring of the mother. To study such differences, 437 second and third grade children with both parents working were chosen as the subjects of this investigation. The data was analyzed according to frequency, percentage, averages, standard deviation, Cronbach's alpha, t-test, one way ANOVA, and Duncan's mutiple comparison. The major finding were as follows: First, the results of examining the differences of the psychological well-being of children according to socio-demographic variables showed significant differences in the area of anxiety with respect to children's genders, maternal educational levels and maternal occupations. In the area of loneliness, the differences came only from the differences in the grade levels. Second, there were significant differences between loneliness and self-perceived competence in the psychological well-being of children according to the subjects' perception of an affective nurturing attitude and monitoring of mothers. In other words, it revealed that the group of children that strongly perceived an affective nurturing attitude and monitoring by their parents showed a lower level of loneliness and a higher level of self-perceived competence.
Purpose: This study was done to identify sexual knowledge and perception and current status of sex education among parents of first and second grade elementary school age children. Methods: Participants in the study were recruited from parents with a child in the lower grades and who resided in Seoul. From January 1 to February 28, 2011, data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using McNemer test, paired t-test, ANONA, and Scheffe test. Results: Mean sexual knowledge scores for fathers and mothers were $27.74{\pm}4.94$, and $28.62{\pm}4.70$ respectively. Parent's sexual knowledge correlated with their occupation, education level, and family's monthly income. Conclusion: Study results showed that both parents are aware of the need for sex education. However, at home, mothers have a more active attitude towards sex education and conduct the education more often than fathers.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the perception and expectation made by parents, regarding the goal, methods and management of kindergarten education. The study is designed to identify social needs for the early childhood education and to produce some important information necessary for the development of education programs for kindergarteners and for the management of a kindergarten. As subjects of the study, 623 mothers of kindergartens were sampled from kindergartens. The researcher constructed a questionnaire of multiple-choice type for surveying opinions of the subjects, based on the analysis of curriculum materials published by Korean Ministry of Education. In data analysis, frequency of response on each item of the questionnaire was tabulated, and chi-square test was applied for testing the difference between independent samples. The results of the study are summarized as followings: First, parents feel kindergarten education necessary because 'interaction with peers' itself must be an important condition for socialization of younger children. For an 'ideal personality' to be pursued in kindergarten education, parents place 'moral personality' in the first priority.' And for educational objective of kindergarten they select 'development of cooperative attitude' as the most important one. Second, 'play method' is emphasized by parents as the most desirable educational method for kindergartener. Third, they think it is necessary for parents to participate in the management of kindergarten. And they also feel that parents of kindergartener should be educated on the early childhood education. Fourth, parents emphasize that the early childhood education should be integrated into a public educational system in order to provide equal educational opportunity for all preschoolers.
This study investigated parents' attitude about children's unbalanced diet. The subjects were 1,309 parents that their children attended at kindergarten or child care center in Kyoung-Ki province. The order of dislikes in 'vegetables and fruits' was as follows: all kinds of vegetables (56.6%), beans (17.6%), fruits (5.2%). In 'meat, fish, poultry', the order of dislikes was meats (38.2%), fishes (21.8%), milk (16.4%), eggs (10.0%). In 'cerelas', the order of dislikes was rice (31.0%), rice cakes (14.3%), noodles (11.9%). The several rationalizations for dislikes are 'taste' (19.1 %), 'food habit from younger age' (18.4%), 'lack of chances for trying new food' (16.0%) etc. To compared children's rationalizations for dislikes to their age group, the percentage of 'lack of chances for trying new food', 'strange food shape', 'lack of nutrition education' was significantly higher in 'below 5 years old' (<5) group than other groups (<6, <7) and 'sweety food' was significantly higher in 'below 7 years old' (<7) group than other groups (<6, <7)(p <0.05). In parents' attitude about children's unbalanced dietary habit, subjects answered that they try to make children understand to eat dislike food (73.9%), develop new recipe for children (14.0%), neglect children's food habit (6.2%). To compared parents' attitude for children's unbalanced diet by parents age, the percentage of 'try to make children understand to eat dislike food' was significantly higher in 'below 30 years old' (<30) group than other groups ($30{\sim}35,\;35{\sim}39,\;{\geq}40$) and 'developing new recipe' was significantly higher in 'over 40 years old' (${\geq}40$) group than other groups ($<30,\;30{\sim}35,\;35{\sim}39$)(p < 0.05). To compared parents' attitude for children's unbalanced diet by parents' occupation, the percentage of 'neglecting' was higher in employed group and 'developing new recipe' was higher in unemployed group than the other group. According to the results of the survey, it is necessary to make new educational materials for employed parents and young children and develop new recipes to use various kind of foods instead of forcing unpleasant foods on the children for the sake of unbalanced diet.
This study was carried out to investigate the perception of body image, the dietary attitude, the nutrient intake and the dietary self-efficacy of middle school students in Kyoung-Nam. The survey was conducted from April 8 to April 22 in 2002. The results are summarized as follows. Twenty three point nine percents of the underweight group,24.5% of the normal weight group, 57.1% of the overweight group and 62.5% of the obese group had correct perception about their body image. Most of the students were concerned about their body image and weight control. The obesity of the parents correlated significantly with the obesity of the subjects. The higher the obesity rate, the lower the dietary attitude and dietary self-efficacy. There was a significant positive correlation between the education level of their mothers and the dietary attitude of the subjects and a significant negative correlation between the obesity rate of the subjects and their. dietary attitudes. Dietary attitude scores showed no significant difference among the groups. Intakes of calories, protein, calcium and iron were lower than those of the Korean recommended dietary allowances (RDAs).
