Develoment of the Control System against Shrimp Viral Disease (바이러스성 새우질병 방제법의 개발)

  • In order'to reduce loss of shrimp productivity by viral diseases on the cultured shrimp, we were develope the effective shrimp virus control system. Virus is inactivated by above 5 ppm of chloride and treatment of 50% fresh water. Mortality of infected shrimp is decreased by feeding of immunostimulants such as peptidoglycan and schizophyllan. Mg(OH)$_2$ was one of improvement agents which have best effect on pH, ignition loss(IL), chemical oxidation demand(COD) and total sulfide of water and sediment of shrimp farm.

  • 국내의 토양오염 공정시험방법에서는 Zn, Ni 추출시 산분해법에 가까운 방법을 사용하는 반면, Cd, Cu, Pb, $Cr^{6+}$ 추출시 0.1N HCl용액으로 산처리하여 1시간을 진탕한 후 이를 필터로 여과하여 분석용액을 추출하는 용출법을 사용하고 있다(환경부, 2001). 시료내에는 완충 물질이 존재하기 때문에 용출법 사용시 초기 pH 인 1(0.1N HCl)이 유지되지 않아 완충능력이 높은 토양의 경우 현재 국내 공정법상의 용출법이 중금속 오염정도를 추정하는데 적절치 않을 수 있다. (중략)

Effects of Simulated Acid Rain on Mineral Nutrient Movement in Soil (인공산성비 처리가 토양의 무기양분 이동에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the effects of simulated acid rain(SAR) on the downward movement of mineral nutrients, SARs of different pH were applied to the soil. SAR of pH 2.0 decreased the soil pH greatly, while SAR of pH 4.0 and 6.0 did not change the soil pH to compare to that of SAR of pH 2.0. Decrease in soil pH was in the order of sandy loam > loam > clay loam. The amoumt of leached exchangeable and soluble bases from the soil due to the penetration of SAR was in the order of Ca >Mg > K. After application of 1200mm SAR of pH 2.0 in to the soil downward mean movements of the exchangeable and soluble bases was in the order of Mg > Ca > K in sandy loam and loam soil and Ca > Mg > K in clay loam soil. Downward movements of the those bases under pH 4.0 into the soil was in the order of Mg > K > Ca in sandy loam and clay loam, and K > Mg > Ca in loam soil. Available phosphorus moved slightly downward with increasing acidity of the SAR.

  • The effects of the crude saponin extracted from ginseng leaves on carbon dioxide evolution, alcohol fermentation, and cell production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae were investigated. The results were summarized as follows : 1) In the process of fermentation, $CO_2$ evolution by yeast was faster in the order of 3%, 1.5%, 0.7%, 5%, 7%, 0.3% than in control in concentration of the crude saponin extracts. 2) In the course of fermentation, the content of alcohol increased in the order of 0%, 0.3%, 7%, 1.5%, 3%, 5%. Among all these concentration, the production of alcohol was remarkably much in 5% and 3%. 3) In the process of fermentation, pH in the low content (0-0.7%) of the crude saponin extracts was gradually decreased as tine goes by and in the high content (1.5-7%) dropped suddenly between 24 hrs. and 48 hrs., and after 48 hrs., increased. 4) Dried yeast cell weight increased more in all the above concentration than control (0%) and among these it increased visibly in 3%.

Analysis of Pile Head Lateral Load-Deflection Behavior of Steel-Concrete Composite Drilled Shafts (강관합성 현장타설말뚝 머리의 수평하중-변위 거동 분석)

  • To analyze the lateral load-deflection behavior of steel-concrete composite drilled shafts, a series of lateral pile load tests were performed. The test results were compared with the results from various analytical methods for lateral pile behaviors using the coefficients of subgrade reaction ($k_h$) estimated by pressuremeter test (PMT) and standard penetration test (SPT). As a result, it was found that the analytical methods using the $k_h$ estimated by SPT N value were not suitable for evaluating the pile head lateral load-deflections of the piles within the allowable deflection. However, the methods using the $k_h$ calculated from PMT were able to represent the initial lateral behavior at the head of the piles fairly well. Also, the method by the pressuremeter curve, which was applied directly to the p-y curve of the piles, offered a reasonable lateral behavior estimation by applying the correction factor to the pile materials.

Effect of Microbial Phytase in Low Phosphorus and Calcium Level Diet on the Performance and Nutrient Digestibility in Laying Hens (인과 칼슘의 수준이 낮은 산란계 사료 내 미생물 Phytase의 첨가가 생산성 및 영양소 소화율에 미치는 영향)

  • This Study was conducted to investigate the effects of microbial phytase in low phosphirus and calcium level diet on the performance and nutrient digestibility in laying hens. One hundred ninety two, 50 wks old, ISA brown commerical layers were used for 12 weeks feeding trial after 7-d adjustment period. Four dietary treatments included CON(control; Co.), P2 ($0.06\%$ Natuphos, BASF) and P3 ($0.06\%$ PHOSMAX, GENOFOCUS). Ca and available P concentrations of P1, P2 and P3 were 90 and $50\%$ of NRC recommecdations to accentuate difference in response to phytase availability. In whole period, egg production was not affected by treatments. At 12 weeks, egg weight was significantly increased in adding phytase treatments (P<0.05). Egg shell thickness was increased in P1, P2 and P3 treatments compared with control (P<0.05) at 9 weeks. Ca concentration of serum tended to decrease in P1 treatment without significant difference (P>0.05). Ca and P concentrations of tibia were higher in layers fed dietary phyrase than those fed control diet without significant difference (P>0.05). Digestibilities of DM, N and ash were improved in P1 treatment compared with P2 and P3 treatments (P<0.05). Ca and P digestibilities were the highest in P2 treatment (P>0.05), but was not significant difference between control and P1 treatments.

  • This study was divided into experiment 1(191 g egg-albumen plus 150g sucrose) and experiment 2(222g egg-albumen plus 150g sucrose)which were subdivided into groups treated with 0, 8.71, 17.43 and 26.149 egg yolk. These experiments were incubated in a shaking water bath($50^{\circ}C$ ) with a speed of 92(turnaround) per minute (or a period of times. The pH and specific gravity were measured after 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 hours incubation. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The pH and specific gravity were steadily increased by shaking time, but decreased by the amount of egg yolk. 2. In the groups treated with egg-albumen, egg yolk, and sucrose of experiments 1 and 2, PH was increased by shaking time and reached highest value at 10 hours shaking time. However, after 12 hours shaking time pH slightly decreased though not significantly. 3. In the experiment 1 and 2, specific gravity had a higher correlation with pH and the regression equation between specific gravity and pH (X) were Y=0.1081x+0.272(r=0.899n) and Y=0.083X+0.476(r=0.825$^{* *}$), respectively.y.

  • This study provides basic materials about setting pH standard of recycle aggregate by analysing pH change from elution time, type of solvent and ratio of solvent with existing experiment methods about recycle aggregate. Also it has purpose of evaluating impact of recycle aggregate outflow's pH on actual environment by building a model that is similar to condition of recycling recycle aggregates. pH of recycle aggregates seemed to not change a lot by time with each experimental method. To evaluate degree of generation by recycle aggregates in natural state, natural water with distilled water seemed be useful to use as solvent. Also it was possible to confirm that there is a difference between actual pollution in natural state by only pH of recycle aggregates.

Effect of Tumbling Time on Quality Characteristics of Ham From Retail Cuts of Hind Leg (텀블링 시간이 돈육 뒷다리 소분할부위로 제조된 햄 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of tumbling time(0, 1, and 2hr) on quality characteristics of cured-smoked pork retail cuts (Bolgi, Seolgit, Boseop, Dogani, Satae) of hind leg was investigated. Quality analyses indicated the retail cuts of pork hind leg are variable except for proximate composition. The Satae ham had the lowest (P<0.05) lightness (L) and highest redness (a). The Bolgi and Seolgit ham had higher hardness than the other hams. Tumbling time(0, 1, and 2hr) had no significant(P>0.05) effect on proximate composition, pH, color, texture properties, and sensory properties of ham. However tumbling decreased cooking loss for Satae ham tumbled for 2hr(P<0.05). Tumbling time was required for more than 2hr to improve quality and obtain maximum yield of retail cut hams. Further study is necessary to improve quality and obtain maximum yield of pork retail cuts of hind leg.

Evaluation of Vi-Passive Hemagglutination, SD$^{(R)}$ Kit, and Widal Test for Serological Diagnosis of Typhoid Fever (장티푸스의 혈청학적 진단을 위한 Vi-수동혈구응집법, SD$^{(R)}$ Kit 및 Widal 시험에 대한 효용성 평가)

  • In this study, we evaluated Vi-passive hemagglutination (Vi-PHA), SD Salmonella Typhi IgG/IgM ($SD^{(R)}$ kit) and Widal test for the rapid laboratory diagnosis of typhoid fever patients. A total of 36 serum samples from febrile patients in Korea from 2005 to 2006 were used. Among 36 patients, 27 were fever patients without typhoid, 9 were typhoid fever. Vi-PHA showed 8 positive results out of 9 typhoid fever patients (sensitivity 88.9%) and 1 positive and 26 negative results out of 27 febrile patients without typhoid (specificity 96.3%). The sensitivity and the specificity of $SD^{(R)}$ kit were 100% and 92.6%, respectively. However, the sensitivity and the specificity of Widal O & H tests were 88.9%, 100%, and 77.8%, 70.4%, respectively. Consequently, Widal H and $SD^{(R)}$ kit showed higher sensitivity and Vi-PHA showed higher specificity. To efficient diagnosis, Vi-PHA may be sufficient diagnosis method in acute cases and $SD^{(R)}$ kit and Widal test may be sufficient in sporadic area and high risk group.
