Data were collected using the participatory rural appraisal method based on interviews, informal meetings, open and group discussions, and overt observations with semi-structured questionnaires. Field investigations were conducted at 19 sites from July 2008 to April 2010. Interviews included 37 key informants (16 men and 21 women) who lived more than 50 years in the area. The average age of the informants was 83 (range = 60 to 96). The analysis recorded seven species, namely Albizia julibrissin Durazz., Juglans mandshurica Maxim., Perilla frutescens var. japonica (Hassk.) H. Hara, Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn., Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Spach, Zanthoxylum piperitum (L.) DC., and Styrax japonicus Siebold and Zucc..
Since 2005 KICE-TLC has focused on the development of supporting programs for teaching consultation and pedagogical content knowledge(PCK). The purpose of this year's research was to explore types of pedagogical content knowledge(PCK, hereafter) for effective teaching mathematics topics drawn from the amended national mathematics curriculum announced in February, 2007. Based on this year's PCK research, we will develop mathematics teaching consulting program from 2009 research by field testing of developed mathematics PCK. The major source of data for this study was transcripts of audiotapes of the group discussions that took place during the regular weekly meetings where we compared and analyzed three teachers' classes. We also conducted open-ended interviews with the three teachers and collected reflective notes written by participants. This research provided teachers with an opportunity to think about what is important in the teaching of a topic and why, and to consider possibilities for future development. This research highlights the importance of teacher meetings where teachers share their expertises and insights through reflection and dialogue. By introducing the concept of PCK, examining, analyzing and modelling it in pre-service and in-service teacher education practice, we can contribute to extend teachers' professional learning. Finally, just like quality student learning, quality teaching and teacher education practices require critical reflection and careful scaffolding.

The objectives of this study were to identify the phenomena of school health nursing at schools in Korea and to contribute to building a school health domain of International Classification for Nursing Practice. A retrospective method was used in this study to develop ICNP during the period from July to October 200l. The procedure of the study involved choosing nursing phenomena using preliminary terms from the reports on the field of school health nursing practice documented by nursing students in 10 different nursing colleges. The detail procedures of the study were as follows. 1) Choosing nursing phenomena by using preliminary terms 2) Choosing the characteristics of school health nursing practice from the selected nursing phenomena 3) In order to make a consensus regarding the appropriate characteristics of phenomena. 15 study group members re-categorized the nursing phenomena through 5 times of cyber meetings and 3 times of formal meetings. 4) To verify each characteristic, 5 community nursing faculties and 25 school health nurses participated in the procedure to give scores on nursing characteristics. 5) Classification of the definite nursing phenomena and characteristics. Following the 5 step procedures, school health nursing phenomena were categorized into human and environmental domains. Human domains were classified into human behavioral and functional domains. Environmental domains were classified into physical and psychosocial domains. The essential characteristics of each phenomena were selected when it obtains the mean score of 3.0 or over at the related characteristics. The human behavioral domain consisted of 7 phenomena including risk for spinal disorder, inadequate dietary habit, inadequate weight control, smoking and substance abuse, inadequate stress management, inadequate sex related coping strategies and inadequate accident management. The human functional domain consisted of 6 phenomena including inadequate eye care and visual management, risk for respiratory disorder, inadequate dental health care, inappropriate infectious disease control, risk for gastrointestinal disorder, and lack of sexual identity. The physical environmental domain consisted of 6 phenomena including risk for incident at inside classroom, risk for incident at outside classroom, risk for incident around school, risk for exposure to hazardous facilities around school. inadequate garbage and disposal management, and inadequate physical environment for learning. The psychosocial domain included impaired social interaction at school. Each phenomenon was composed of 2 to 8 characteristics and all phenomena will include a total number of 85 characteristics. The phenomena of school health nursing in Korea partially confirmed school health architecture of ICNP. Further study on verification of school health nursing phenomena in Korea needs to be done to support the findings of this study through review of literature on nursing classifications or field studies.

The certification of occupational health nurse will be available to the nurses who have the careers more than three years, graduate the education program for certified occupational health nurse, and pass the certified occupational health nurse examination. 2. Two types of education program will be needed, one will be the one-year program for diploma nurses and the other will be master program for baccalaureate nurses. 3. The plan was made for 2000 occupational health nurses to be certified by 2010. By 2007, annually 200 occupational health nurses will graduate from one-year program and 40 occupational health nurses will graduate from master program. After than, 260 occupational health nurses will graduate from master program and 40 or 80 occupational health nurses will graduate from one-year program. 4. Purpose: An emerging trend in Asian higher education is English-medium instruction (EMI), which uses English as the primary instructional language. EMI prepares domestic students for international leadership; however, students report difficulty in learning, and educators have raised questions concerning the effectiveness of EMI. The flipped learning model (FLM), in which lecture and homework activities for a course are reversed, was applied to an English-medium course offered by a college of nursing in Korea. The aims of this study were to: 1) revise an existing English-medium nursing course using the FLM; 2) explore students' learning experiences and their acceptance of the FLM; and 3) identify key factors in the success of FLM. Methods: We used a descriptive, cross-sectional, mixed-methods design and the participants were students at one nursing school in Korea. A series of course development meetings with faculties from the nursing school and the center for teaching and learning were used to develop the course format and content. We conducted course evaluations using the Flipped Course Evaluation Questionnaire with open-ended questions and focus group interviews. Results: Students (N=75) in a 15-week nursing course responded to a survey after completing the course. Among them, seven students participated in one of two focus groups. Overall, students accepted and favored the flipped learning strategy, and indicated that the method enhanced lecture content and their understanding of it. Factors associated with effective instruction included structured monitoring systems and motivational environments. Conclusion: The FLM requires sufficient preparation to facilitate student motivation and maximize learning outcomes.

(1) The various spaces and facilities that make up the traditional market show a synergistic effect through linkage. (2) Various public spaces for traditional market users have been made in market buildings and open spaces. (3) Food and beverages sold in traditional markets can be eaten in public spaces, and meetings, breaks, performances and events are held in public spaces. (4) A company or non-profit organization with unified executive power is in charge of or participating in market operation.
This paper tries to analyze how the governance institutions of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey overcome agent problems in public agencies based on the Principal-Agent Theory, and find the implications that will be helpful to the governance of port authorities in Korea. The Port Authority's governance is characterized by decentralization of personnel rights, open meetings policy, freedom of information policy, public hearings, and fiscally self-supporting system. Those characteristics are helpful in overcoming the agent problems of public agency, such as adverse selection, moral hazard, and complicated external structure, through reinforcing of monitoring agent by principal, easing of information asymmetry between principal and agent, and clarification of organizational ownership structure. Those characteristics may give many implications for the design of governance structures of port authorities in Korea.
