  • Many procedures for deriving the Moore-Penrose invese $X^+$ have been developed, but the explicit forms of Moore-Penerose inverses for design matrices in analysis of variance models are not known heretofore. The purpose of this paper is to find explicit forms of $X^+$ for the one-way and the two-way analysis of variance models. Consequently, the Moore-Penerose inverse $X^+$ and the shortest solutions of them can be easily obtained to the level of pocket calculator by way of our results.

  • The techniques about the analysis of variance for quantitative variables have been well-developed. But when the variable is categorical, we must switch to a completely different set of varied techniques. R.J. Light and B.H. Margolin presented one kind of techniques for categorical data in their paper, where there are G unordered experimental groups and I unordered response categories.

  • It is well understood that a paired comparison (paired t test) provides better precision than a group comparison (two-sample t test), when the pairing is effective (the variation within a pair is small). However, when the variation among the pairs is sufficiently small, the group comparison is likely to yield a better result. To get a statistical explanation of this, we examine the two methods through an analogy to one-way and two-way analysis of variance. We introduce a new measure, R statistic, which is the ratio of their confidence interval lengths, as a quantitative criterion for comparing the two methods. The distribution of the Rf statistic is described by t and F distribution functions. Through this characterization, we show that the paired comparison can be better than group comparison when the variation among the pairs is statistically significantly large.

  • Variance components model appears often in designing experiments including time series data analysis. This paper is investigating the properties of the various procedures in estimating variance components for the two-way random model without interaction under normality. In this age of computer-oriented computations, MINQUE is found to be quite practicla because of the robustness with respect to the design configurations and parameters. Also adjusted AOV type estimation procedure is found to yield superior results over the unadjusted one.

  • An attemption was made to estimate the effect of menopause on the mental health of climacteric women. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) were questioned to 278 premenopausal women and 302 postmenopausal women. Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance in each variable of menopause, age, educational level, religion and partnership of husband, and two-way analysis of variance in two variables of menopause and one of other variables. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Menopause increased the scores of validity, psychopathic deviate, hypomania and paranoia scale, but conversely decreased the score of masculinity-femininity scale. 2. The older the climacteric women were, the lower scores of masculinity-femininity scale were observed. 3. The older the premenopausal women were, the higher scores of depression, hysteria, psychopathic deviate, psychasthenia and schizophrenia scale were observed, on the contrary, all scores of the postmenopausal women were decreased by the increment of their ages. 4. The higher the educational level of climacteric women were, the higher scores of correction and masculinity-femininity scale were observed, but the scores of hypochondriasis, hysteria, schizophrenia and social introversion scale were decreased by the increment of their educational level. 5. The scores of hypomania scale were higher in women of Buddhism than other religions. 6. The scores of validity, paranoia, psychasthenia, schizophrenia and social introversion scale were higher in widows than women with husband.

  • Measures are very useful tools for comparing the shape variability in statistical shape analysis. For examples, the Procrustes statistic(PS) is isolated measure, and the mean Procrustes statistic(MPS) and the root mean square measure(RMS) are overall measures. But these measures are very subjective, complicated and moreover these measures are not statistical for comparing the shape variability. Therefore we need to study some tests. It is well known that the Hotelling's $T^2$ test is used for testing shape variability of two independent samples. And for testing shape variabilities of several independent samples, instead of the Hotelling's $T^2$ test, one way analysis of variance(ANOVA) can be applied. In fact, this one way ANOVA is based on the balanced samples of equal size which is called as BANOVA. However, If we have unbalanced samples with unequal size, we can not use BANOVA. Therefore we propose the unbalanced analysis of variance(UNBANOVA) for testing shape variabilities of several independent samples of unequal size.

  • The central focus of this research paper is to explore the recent structural core empirical unemployment reason of IT new professional manpower who graduated in higher education level in Korea. The final goal of this issue is to estimate and analyze rambling impediment in IT manpower labor market between 26 detail occupations and between detail occupations and 3 educational levels of new graduates and entrants who entered in IT 6 occupational groups composing 26 particular occupations. This study uses the 2004 data published by the Ministry of ICT and relies upon both one-way analysis of variance and two-way analysis variance to tackle the issue. According to the ANOVA results, 2 main points were delineated In the one-way analysis of variance method. the total sum of squares (SST) is decomposed into two major components: within sum of squares (SSW) (6 detail occupations, 85%) and between sum of squares (SSG) (26 detail occupation, 15%) The other major finding is that total sum of squares (SST) is decomposed into three major components: between detail occupations (SSG) (19.3%), between educations (SSB) and errors (SSE) (56%) in IT SIW development design group.

  • The purpose of this study was the examination of delinquency according to, narcissism, self-esteem, hostility and alienation of juvenile. For this, setting 172 students of an academic high school and 366 students of a vocational school(total 538) as the object of this study, the measures of Narcissistic Personality Scales, Self-Esteem Scales, Alienation Scales, and Delinquency Scales were inquired. The method of statistical analysis about these materials was composed of Two-way Analysis of Variance, One-way Analysis of Variance, and Multi-regression Analysis by using SPSS 10.0. The result, when delinquency was examined according to narcissism and self-esteem, in the case that narcissism was highest, self-esteem was lowest, delinquency was highest. When delinquency was examined according to narcissism and hostility, in the case that narcissism was highest, hostility was highest, delinquency was highest. When delinquency was examined according to narcissism and alienation, in the case that narcissism was highest, alienation was highest, delinquency was highest. And, when Multi-regression Analysis about the effect of narcissism, self-esteem, hostility and alienation on delinquency was administrated, the variation that affected delinquency significantly was narcissism, hostility and alienation. That is, we could look forward that the more narcissists feel hostility and alienation, the higher they have delinquency.
