모델의 타당성 평가에 기초한 로바스트 동정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Robust Identification Based on the Validation Evaluation of Model)

  • In order to design a stable robust controller, nominal model, and the upper bound about the uncertainty which is the error of the model are needed. The problem to estimate the nominal model of controlled system and the upper bound of uncertainty at the same time is called robust identification. When the nominal model of controlled system and the upper bound of uncertainty in relation to robust identification are given, the evaluation of the validity of the model and the upper bound makes it possible to distinguish whether there is a model which explains observation data including disturbance among the model set. This paper suggests a method to identity the uncertainty which removes disturbance and expounds observation data by giving a probable postulation and plural data set to disturbance. It also examines the suggested method through a numerical computation simulation and validates its effectiveness.

피라미드 구조 및 국부 오차 보상을 이용한 물체지향 부호화 (Object-oriented coder using pyramid structure and local residual compensation)

  • In this paper, we propse an object-oriented coding method in low bit-rate channels using pyramid structure and residual image compensation. In the motion estimation step, global motion is estimated using a set of multiresolution images constructed in a pyramid structure. We split an input image into two regions based on the gradient value. Regions with larte motions obtain observation points at low resolution level to guarantee robustness to noise and to satisfy a motion constraint equation whereas regions with local motions such as eye, and lips get observation points at the original resolution level. Local motion variations and intesity variations of an image reconstructed by the golbal motion are compensated additionally by using the previous residual image component. Finally, the model failure (MF) region is compensated by the pyramid mapping of the previous displaced frame difference (DFD). Computer simulation results show that the proposed method gives better performance that the convnetional one in terms of the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), compression ratio (CR), and computational complexity.

  • In this paper, a neural disturbance observer(NDO) is developed and its application to the control of a nonlinear system with the internal and/or external disturbances is presented. To construct the NDO, a parameter tuning method is proposed and shown to be useful in adjusting the parameters of the NDO. The tuning method employes the disturbance observation error to guarantee that the NDO monitors unknown disturbances. Each of the nodes of the hidden layer in the NDO network is a radial basis function(RBF). In addition, the relationships between the suggested NDO-based control and the conventional adaptive controls reported in the previous literatures are discussed. And it is shown in a rigorous manner that the disturbance observation error converges to a region of which size can be kept arbitrarily small. Finally, an example and some computer simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and the applicability of the NDO.

Deletion diagnostics in fitting a given regression model to a new observation

  • A graphical diagnostic method based on multiple case deletions in a regression context is introduced by using the sampling distribution of the difference between two least squares estimators with and without multiple cases. Principal components analysis plays a key role in deriving this diagnostic method. Multiple case deletions of test statistic are also considered when a new observation is fitted to a given regression model. The result is useful for detecting influential observations in econometric data analysis, for example in checking whether the consumption pattern at a later time is the same as the one found before or not, as well as for investigating the influence of cases in the usual regression model. An illustrative example is given.

Ethical Conducts in Qualitative Research Methodology :Participant Observation and Interview Process

  • Purpose: Ethical behaviors become more salient when researchers utilize face-to-face interviews and observation with vulnerable groups or communities, which may be unable to express their emotions during the sessions. The present research aims to investigate ethical behaviors while conducting research have resonance due to the deep nature of observation and interview data collection methods. Research design, data and methodology: The present research obtained non-numeric (Textual) data based on prior literature review to investigate Ethical Conducts in Qualitative Research. Non-numeric data differs from numeric data in how the data is collected, analyzed and presented. It is important to formulate written questions and adopt them what the method claims for the researcher to understand the studied phenomenon. Results: Our findings show that while conducting qualitative research, researchers must adhere to the following ethical conducts; upholding informed consent, confidentiality and privacy, adhering to beneficence's principle, practicing honesty and integrity. Each ethical conduct is discoursed in detail to realize more information on how it impacts the researcher and research participants. Conclusions: The current authors concludes that five ethical conducts are important for realizing extensive and rich information during qualitative research and may be exploited in implementing research policies for researchers utilizing observation and interviews methods of data collection.

  • In this study, a vortex visualization method based on the vorticity magnitude is developed. One of the simplest models for a vortex is a vortex filament with the maximum vorticity on its center. The proposed method is based on the observation of this ideal distribution of vorticity magnitude. Laplacian and Hessian matrix of vorticity magnitude are tested for detecting the local maximum of vorticity magnitude. These ideas were applied to wake flow past a sphere. It was found that the Laplacian method is not able to distinguish vortices from the underlying shear layer clearly, while the Hessian matrix method does not suffer from this problem.

음소변동규칙의 발견빈도에 기반한 음성인식 발음사전 구성 (Generating Pronunciation Lexicon for Continuous Speech Recognition Based on Observation Frequencies of Phonetic Rules)

  • The pronunciation lexicon of a continuous speech recognition system should contain enough pronunciation variations to be used for building a search space large enough to contain a correct path, whereas the size of the pronunciation lexicon needs to be constrained for effective decoding and lower perplexities. This paper describes a procedure for selecting pronunciation variations to be included in the lexicon based on the frequencies of the corresponding phonetic rules observed in the training corpus. Likelihood of a phonetic rule's application is estimated using the observation frequency of the rule and is used to control the construction of a pronunciation lexicon. Experiments with various pronunciation lexica show that the proposed method is helpful to improve the speech recognition performance.

Investigation into SINS/ANS Integrated Navigation System Based on Unscented Kalman Filtering

  • Strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) integrated with astronavigation system (ANS) yields reliable mission capability and enhanced navigational accuracy for spacecrafts. The theory and characteristics of integrated system based on unscented Kalman filtering is investigated in this paper. This Kalman filter structure uses unscented transform to approximate the result of applying a specified nonlinear transformation to a given mean and covariance estimate. The filter implementation subsumed here is in a direct feedback mode. Axes misalignment angles of the SINS are observation to the filter. A simple approach for simulation of axes misalignment using stars observation is presented. The SINS error model required for the filtering algorithm is derived in space-stabilized mechanization. Simulation results of the integrated navigation system using a medium accuracy SINS demonstrates the validity of this method on improving the navigation system accuracy with the estimation and compensation for gyros drift, and the position and velocity errors that occur due to the axes misalignments.

감압비등 분무의 역광이미지 후처리 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Post Processing of Flash Boiling Spray Image from Shadowgraphy)

  • When investigating the droplet, spray, and impact of liquid on a solid plate, backlight imaging has been widely used to understand these phenomena. However, some previous studies have suffered from poor image quality. In this study, various combinations of image processing algorithms, such as white image correction, histogram equalization, CLAHE, Otsu's binarization, and multi-Otsu's binarization, have been applied to flash boiling spray images to enhance image quality for qualitative observation and semi-quantitative spray angle evaluation. To acquire images with high contrast for qualitative observation, applying CLAHE was effective, making small droplets and detailed shapes of the jet noticeable. However, when images were averaged to determine spray angle or penetration length based on intensity, this method induced artifact unphysical patterns, thus requiring careful consideration. Based on the algorithm proposed in this study, the spray angle variation according to injection pressure and temperature has been calculated, showing a reasonable trend.
