중년여성 골다공증과 체질량지수와의 관계 분석 (Relationship Analysis of Osteoporosis and Body Mass Index(BMI) in the Middle-Aged Women)

  • 일반적으로 중년여성의 골다공증은 저체중에서 발생률이 높은 것으로 보고되었으나 비만인 경우에도 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 골밀도 검사에서 골다공증으로 진단받은 중년여성 120명을 대상으로 골다공증과 체질량지수의 상관관계를 비교하고자 하였다. 체질량지수가 18.5 미만을 저체중, 18.5 ~ 22.9를 정상, 23.0 ~ 24.9를 과체중, 25.0 ~ 29.9를 비만, 30.0 이상인 경우를 고도비만으로 하였다. 연구 결과 대상자의 체질량지수 분포는 저체중이 2명(1.7%), 정상이 18명(15.0%), 과체중이 19명(15.8%), 비만이 75명(62.5%), 고도비만이 6명(5.0%) 이었다. 또한 체질량지수와 골다공증의 상관관계는 체질량지수가 정상인 경우 18명 중 13명(72.2%)이 골다공증이었으며 과체중의 경우 19명 중 14명(73.7%), 비만의 경우 75명 중 63명(84%), 고도비만의 경우 6명 중 5명(83.3%)로 나타나 체질량지수가 비만인 경우에서 골다공증 발생률이 높았다. 결론적으로 중년여성의 골다공증은 체질량지수가 비만일수록 골다공증 환자가 많다는 것을 알 수 있었으며 대부분 골감소증보다는 골다공증이 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구는 다양한 강도의 자전거 운동이 비만 중년 여성의 신체구성, 혈중지질 및 지방대사에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 35~55세의 비만중년여성 17명을 대상으로 저강도 그룹 5명, 중강도 그룹 6명, 고강도 그룹 6명으로 무선 배정하여 주 3회(월, 수, 금) 1일 20~50분의 다양한 강도별 자전거운동이 신체구성과 혈중지질, 지방대사에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 비교·분석한 결과, 신체구성의 변화에서는 그룹 간 유의한 차이를 나타나지 않았으며, 혈중지질의 변화에서 글루코스의 그룹별 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 지방대사의 변화에서 그룹별 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며, 또한 시기, 시기×집단의 상호작용 효과에서도 모두 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 이상의 내용을 종합하면 통계적으로 유의미한 효과를 나타내지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 다양한 각도에서 관련 전공 분야의 연구와 개선을 위한 기초적인 자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

중년여성의 체중관리 실태와 성인병 위험도 (Weight Control and Cardiovascular Risk in Middle-Aged Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate weight control practices and cardiovascular risk in middle-aged women. 304 middle-aged women were selected as subjects from thirties to fifthies living at J city in Chung-Buk Do. Data were collected using a questionnaire, anthropometric measurements, BP & total cholesterol level in serum from April 1, to June 30, 2003. The results of this study were as follows: The middle-aged woman's age is average $43.95{\pm}7.09yr$ and mean BMI(body mass index) was $23.54{\pm}3.09\;kg/m^2$. Underweight, normal weight, overweight, obese women were 3.0%, 39.5%, 27.9% and 29.6%respectively. Subjects perceived own as 'Slim' 5.9%, 'ordinary' 45.7%, 'Fat' 48.4%. Their weight perception coincide their own actual body weight but as many as 41.8% of overweight and 9.0% of obese perceived themselves as being 'ordinary'. Middle age women with past weight control experience were 55.6%, and only 35.5% was doing weight control at present. Of these subjects, 71.4% reported wanting to lose weight and the primary reason of weight control was to improve their appearance(39.53%). The most frequently reported weight control behavior was 'exercise' followed 'dieting', but 39.6% reported using 'diet food', 12.4% 'behavior modification', 12.4% 'fasting', and 'diet-drug'(3.6%) or 'smoking'(3.6%). Effective weight control methods were thought regular exercise(97.1%) & dieting (79.3%). And behavior modification(71.4%) or diet camp(60%) were effective, too. An average waist circumference was $79.80{\pm}9.47cm$, waist/hip ratio was $86.63{\pm}6.78$, waist/height ratio was $50.43{\pm}6.10$. In the index of abdominal obesity, 79.7 % of middle-aged women was waist/height ratio over 0.46, 65.3% was waist/hip ratio over 0.85, 28.4% was waist circumference over 85cm. There were significant differences in the degree of abdominal obesity according to age and BMI. In the index of cardiovascualr risk, 10.9% of middle aged women was systolic hypertension over 140mmHg, 18.7% was diastolic hypertension over 90mmHg and 10.6% was hypercholesterolemia over 200mg/dl. There was significant difference in systolic hypertension ratio according to age. There was significant difference in diastolic hypertension ratio according to age and obesity. There were significant differences in hypercholesterolemia accorting to obesity. The abdominal obesity indices and the levels of T-cholesterol in the serum, systolic and diastolic BP increased significantly according to age. T-cholesterol in serum was predicted 2.6% by waist/height ratio. And systolic BP was predicted 15.2% by waist/height, add BMI to 16.8%. Subject's diastolic BP was predicted 12.1% by BMI. Therefore waist/height ratio and BMI were significant factors for the predictors of cardiovascular risk. There was significant correlation between index of obesity and cardiovascular risk. T-cholesterol in serum had correlation with waist/eight ratio(r=0.174) and waist circumference(r=0.48). Systolic BP had correlation with waist/height ratio(r=0.387), and BMI(=0.371). diastolic BP correlation had correlation with BMI(r=0.343) and waist/height ratio(r=0.327). In conclusion, The prevalence of obesity was 29.6% in 304 cases, and increased as age after menopause increased. Middle-aged women's weight perception and actual BMI coincide but some of them did not. Trial to reduce weight was attempted. But most of them did not actually. Undesirable weight control method such as using drugs, fasting, smoking was used by some women. It is important to educate about health weight control methods and raise their awareness of exact body figures. High frequency of abdominal obesity in middle-aged women had correlation with hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Abdominal index such as waist/height ratio, waist circumference, waist/hip ratio was used. Women's hypertension, hypercholesterolemia significantly related to body mass index and abdominal obesity.

군산시 중년여성의 체지방률에 의한 비만도 분류에 따른 체중조절 행동, 식습관 및 건강관련 생활습관에 관한 연구 (A Study on Weight Control Behaviour, Eating Habits and Health-related Life Habits according to Obesity Degree by Body Fat Percentage among Middle-aged Women in Gunsan City)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare weight control behaviour, eating habits and health-related life habits according to the obesity degree by body fat percentage (%Fat) among middle-aged women. The subjects were 170 middle-aged women who lived Gunsan City, and they were assigned to one of the following groups based on their %Fat; normal weight group (18% - < 28%), overweight group (28% - < 33%) and obesity group (over 33%). The height, body weight, %Fat, the circumference of waist and hip of them were measured. Eating habits and health-related life habits were evaluated based on questionnaires. The results were as follows. Their weight, %Fat, body mass index (BMI), relative body weight (RBW), waist, hip, and waist-hip ratio (WHR) were significantly higher in the obesity subjects when compared to the normal and overweight subjects. Self-perception for weight (p < 0.001), desire for weight control (p < 0.01), and reasons of weight control (p < 0.05) were different among three groups. The main skipped meal was breakfast (67.9%), reasons of skipping meals were different among three groups (p < 0.05), and main reasons were "lose one's appetite" and "have not enough time". Food habits score for each food was not significantly different among three groups, but eating the meal on thinking with food combination in normal group was higher than overweight and obesity group (p < 0.01). Correlation coefficients of food habits score and anthropometric measurements were that salty of food was negative and food habits scores were positive correlation for anthropometric measurements and obesity index (p < 0.05 - p < 0.001). Frequency of exercise and fitting exercise for body were different among three groups (p < 0.05). Obesity group was lower frequency of exercise than the other groups. Regular diet was positive correlation with food combination (p < 0.01), taking fish (p < 0.05), taking vegetables (p < 0.01), taking bean products (p < 0.01) and food habits score (p < 0.01), frequency of eating out and snacks were negative correlation with taking fruits and fishes. Therefore, proper nutritional education for middle-aged women in obesity group is recommended regular diet, good food habits and exercise. The middle-aged women must decrease the frequency of eating out, snack and the salty foods, and increase the fruits and vegetables. They must have healthy life styles for exercise, smoking, and drinking.

태권에어로빅이 중년 비만여성의 비만지표 및 심혈관질환 위험인자에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Taekwon Aerobic Exercise on Obesity Indices and Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Middle-Aged Obese Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of taekwon aerobic on obesity indices and cardiovascular risk factors in middle-aged obese women. Method: Data were collected from 19 middle-aged obese women who participated in taekwon aerobic exercise. This research adopted one-group pretest-posttest design. Taekwon aerobic was applied 3 times in a week for 12 weeks, and the obesity indices and cardiovascular risk factors were checked before and after the program. Body weight, BMI and % body fat for obesity indices were checked, and total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol and the ratio of total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol for cardiovascular risk factors were measured. The data was analyzed by paired t-test using SPSS/win 10.0. Results: There were significant differences in body weight, BMI and % body fat after the taekwon aerobic exercise. There was a significant difference in total cholesterol. However, there were no significant differences in triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol and the ratio of total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol after the taekwon aerobic exercise. Conclusion: This study showed that taekwon aerobic exercise decreased obesity indices and lowered total cholesterol in the cardiovascular risk factors. The results of this study show that taekwon aerobic exercise is effective in enhancing the health of middle-aged obese women.

농촌 거주 중년 비만여성을 위한 비만관리 프로그램의 효과 (Effects of a Primary Healthcare Post Obesity Management Program for Middle-Aged Obese Women Living in Rural Areas)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze changes in body weight (kg) and body mass index (BMI) in middle-aged women following a 12 week exercise program. Methods: The obesity management program for primary health care posts, which consists of exercise therapy and dietary counseling, was provided for obese women aged 40 to 64 (N=15). General characteristics of the women and differences in body weight and BMI before and after the program were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Results: The major findings of this study are as follows; Average body weight before the program was 65.7 kg, and it was significantly reduced to 63.9 kg after the program (z = -3.41, p = .001). The average level of BMI decreased considerably from 27.9 kg/m2 to 27.2 kg/m2 (z = -3.41, p = .001). Conclusion: The findings from this study show a significant decrease in body weight and BMI after the program. Continuous study is needed to develop a variety of obesity management programs for middle-aged obese women. When developing programs regional characteristics need to be considered and there is a need to confirm the effectiveness of the programs.

중년 여성 대상의 지역사회 참여형 비만 중재 프로그램의 효과 (Effects of Community Based Participatory Obesity Intervention Program in Middle-Aged Women)

  • Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the effects of a community based participatory program in obese middle-aged women. Methods: One-group pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects were 35 middle-aged women. Data were collected at public health centers in Chungcheongnam-Do from March to May, 2013. To evaluate the effect of the program, physiological indexes(body mass index, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, visceral fat area) and health behavior indexes(dietary practice guidelines score, moderate physical activity, drinking frequency) were measured. Analysis was performed using a Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: After the program, physiological indexes (BMI, BFM, SMM, VFA) and health behavior indexes (dietary guidelines scores, frequency of physical activity, drinking frequency) were significantly improved. Conclusion: The community based participatory obesity program by public health centers is considered to be effective. Therefore, greater effort is needed for better participatory program development of several health promoting fields, and more research is needed in order to examine a continuous effect.

Exploring Incidence and Potential Risk Factors of Sarcopenic Obesity Among Middle-Aged Women Residing in a Community

  • PURPOSE: This study evaluated the incidence of sarcopenic obesity (SO) and examined the specific risk factors in a community-dwelling middle-aged population of women. METHODS: The present study involved analyzing data from a cross-sectional study that included 1,693 community-dwelling women aged between 40 and 49 years. Various risk factors were investigated, including age, height, weight, body mass index, waist circumference, skeletal muscle mass index, smoking and drinking behaviors, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, fasting glucose levels, as well as triglyceride and cholesterol levels. To ensure the accuracy and validity of the results, a complex sampling technique was employed for data analysis. Each sample weight was calculated through a three-step process by estimating base weight, adjusting it for non-response, and modulating it for post-stratification. RESULTS: The incidence of SO was 4.26% (95% CI: 3.20-5.67%). The clinical risk factors for SO were age, height, weight, body mass index, waist circumference, skeletal muscle mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and levels of fasting glucose, triglycerides, and total cholesterol (p < .05). CONCLUSION: This study explores the prevalence and risk factors of SO among community-dwelling women. It adds to the existing literature on SO and identifies potential risk factors in middle-aged women.

전기근육자극 훈련이 복부비만 중년 여성의 복부지방, 체간 근 두께와 활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation Training on Abdominal Fat, Trunk Muscle Thickness and Activity in Middle-Aged Women with Abdominal Obesity)

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of low frequency neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) training on abdominal obesity in middle-aged women through electromyography and ultrasound. METHODS: Twenty-two middle aged women with abdominal obesity participated in the study. A low-frequency NMES device was used on the abdomen and waist of each subject for 20 minutes each (a total of 40 minutes) three times a week for eight weeks. The waist-hip ratio (WHR), weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) were measured. Electromyography (EMG) and ultrasound measurements were performed three times in total (pre-intervention, four weeks into the intervention, and eight weeks post-intervention) to examine the effects of low-frequency NMES on the abdominal muscle activity, muscle thickness, and subcutaneous fat. RESULTS: The results indicated a difference in the WHR and waist circumference before and after intervention (p<.05). The external oblique muscle (EO) showed a significant increase in muscle activity during all measurements taken post-intervention (p<.05). The abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness also showed a significant decrease between each measurement (p<.05). The test results showed that the abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness values taken eight weeks post-intervention were significantly lower than those taken pre-intervention and four weeks into the intervention (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These findings show that low-frequency NMES device training can be applied to middle-aged women with abdominal obesity to improve their body shape and exercise performance.

일부 폐경 전 , 후 중년 여성의 철분 영양상태에 관한 연구 - 강릉지역을 중심으로 (Nutritional Iron Status in Pre - and Postmenopause Middle - Aged Women in Kangnung Area)

  • The purpose of this study were to assess iron status and obesity in 82 middle aged women living in Kangnung area. Anthropometric measurements were taken for body weight, height, percentage of body fat and circumferences of waist and hip. Venous blood samples were drawn from subjects for measurement of hemoglobin(Hb), hematocrit(Hct), serum iron(Fe), total iron binding capacity(TIBC), transferrin saturation(TS) and serum ferritin. Dietary intakes of iron(heme iron and nonheme iron), the amounts of MPF(meat, poultry and fish) and ascorbic acid were assessed by modified 24-hr recall method. The results obtained are summarized as follows : Postmenopausal women had more body fat than premenopausal women. That is, postmenopausal women tend to be obeser than premenopausal women. There was no difference in Hb, Hct, Fe, TIBC and TS between pre- and postmenopausal women. But the serum ferritin concentration of postmenopausal women(83.7$\pm$42.1ng/ml) was significantly (p<0.05) higher than premenopausal women(56.4$\pm$41.0ng/ml). Prevalences of iron deficiency (20%, 20.0% and 17.1% respectively) of postmenopausal women. The mean daily intakes of total iron in pre- and postmenopausal women were 17.5$\pm$9.3mg and 15.6$\pm$6.9mg, respectively. Bioavailabilities of dietary iron were 6.5% and 4.5% in pre- and post-groups. These results indicate that individual dietary guidelines should be used to educate middle-aged women different in status of menopause. For example, premenopausal women should increase nutritional iron status and postmenopausal women should try to prevent obesity.
