This study was performed to identify the relationships between parents' nurturing behavior and preschoolers' creativity. The differences of parents' behavior and children's creativity by children's sex were also analyzed. The subjects were one hundred and four children(54 boys and 50 girls) and their mothers. Parents' nurturing behavior was assessed by a nurturing behavior questionnaire administered to the mothers, preschoolers' creativity was rated by the author through observation of the children's responses. The reliability of observation was calculated from 10 among the 104 children. The reliability coefficient was .96. The results were as follows: First, there were significant differences in parents' behavior according to the child's sex. Girls' parents showed more affective and achievement oriented attitude compared to the boys' parents. Second, there were also significant differences in .children's creativity according to sex. Girls' originality and flexibility were higher than boys, however, significant differences between girls and boys in fluency and imagination were not found. Third, parents' nurturing behavior and children's creativity were strongly related to each other. Children's imaginations were strongly related to the mothers' behavior. Children's originality and flexibility were also significantly related to their parents' behavior, but children's fluency did not show relations with their parents' behavior.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among children's ADHD symptoms, parenting stress and behavior regarding nurturing. The data were provided by 59 mothers of children with ADHD who is aged between 4 and 12. Mothers of children with ADHD were recruited through 3 departments of child psychiatry. The Korean version of Parenting Stress Index-Short Form, the Korean version of revised Maternal Behavior research Instrument(MBRI) and ADHD Rating Scale(K-ARS) was used to assess parenting stress, behavior regarding nurturing and ADHD symptoms respectively. Significant correlation was found between parental distress and warmth, rejection behavior. Parental distress is significant influence on behavior regarding nurturing through multiple regression analysis. Significant correlation was found between ADHD symptom and rejection behavior. ADHD symptom is significant influence on behavior regarding nurturing through multiple regression analysis. Behavior regarding nurturing is related to ADHD symptom, parental distress. Therefore, it is needed for not only treatment related to ADHD symptom but also interventions for behavior regarding nurturing for mothers of children with ADHD.
Factor analysis of data collected from 336 elementary school children provided difficuitness and susceptibility as the temperament factors, and affect and control as the nurturing factors. Results showed that non-susceptible children with low controlling mother perceived their cognitive competence positively while highly susceptible children showed no differences in their self-competence by mothers' controlling behavior. Perceived cognitive competence of susceptible boys and of susceptible 3rd graders were low when their mothers asserted low control. Thus, mothers' controlling behavior supported perceived cognitive competence in highly susceptible boys and 3rd graders. That is, the effect of mother's behavior on child's self-competence was moderated by child's characteristics. These results partially supported the Conditional Model.
Objective: The study looked at the relationship between the mother's adult attachment, the children's problematic behavior and the mother's nurturing attitude. In doing so, this study tried to determine whether the mother's nurturing attitude would play a moderating role in the context of the effect of mother' adult attachment on the children's problematic behavior. Methods: we surveyed 352 mothers of 3~5 year old infants who were financially dependent on day care centers. Results: The problematic behavior of being daunted is high when mothers' adult attachment of avoidance is high and when mothers have low level of controlling pattern in their nurturing of their children. The problematic behavior of anxiety and depression was observed when adult attachment of anxiety was high and low level of controlling pattern in their nurturing. Meanwhile, when the externalized problematic behaviors were examined, no interaction effect of mothers' adult attachment and nurturing pattern was observed in all sub-levels of the children's externalized problematic behaviors. Conclusion/Implications: We could see how the influence of parenting attitude appears in mothers with unstable adult attachment. In addition, mothers with unstable adult attachment may be able to confirm that the quality of the interaction of the parent-child relationship and the form of the child's problem behavior differ according to the level of the mother's parenting attitude in the child's problem behavior. The results of this study showed that mothers with unstable adult attachment differed in the form of problem behaviors of infants according to mother's parenting attitude in infant problem behaviors.

The purpose of this study is to find out the explanatory power of the mother psychological characteristics (self-efficacy, self-esteem, depression, parenting stress), infant temperament, parenting look at how the variables affect the infant development. Study is an infant born in 2008, 1802 mothers name. Child Policy Research Institute Korea Children's Panel 3rd year data were used for the study. Analysis of the data was analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 correlation evaluate the direct and indirect effects between the path and the effect of each variable on infant development through Amos 16.0. The results were as follows. First, the mother significant indirect effect of mothers had a positive impact due to the influence of positive parenting Infant Development Psychological variables were mother and mediating role of parenting behavior was completely mediated in the path to infant development. Second, infant temperament and parenting mothers showed a complete mediating effect on the path to the Infant Development were significant indirect effects mediated by parenting mothers on infant development. Third, the direct effects on the mother parenting infant development showed a statistically significant result.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of children's daily stress and employed mothers' nurturing attitude on children's problem behavior, as well as the mediating role of employed mothers' nurturing attitude. 160 children (aged 3-6, in city "D") and their mothers participated in this study. The SPSS 18.0 program was used to conduct a regression analysis to examine the correlation between the children's daily stress, their problem behavior and the employed mothers' nurturing attitude, depending on the gender of the children. The results were as follows : First, in the case of the boys, their aggression and attention have effects on their coercive attitude, and their anxiety and depression have effects of decreasing magnitude on their logical attitude, blaming / offensive stress and pride-hurt stress in that order. Secondly, in the case of the girls, their aggression has effects on their coercive attitude, and their attention has effects of decreasing magnitude on their anxiety / frustration stress and coercive logical attitude in that order. On the other hand, their anxiety / depression have effects of decreasing magnitude on their accused/offensive stress and coercive attitude in that order. Third, the employed mothers' nurturing attitude had mediating effects between the children's daily stress and their problem behavior. However, no such mediating effects were observed in the case of the boys. Therefore, the mothers tend to foster complementary and logical parenting, rather than coercive or negligent parenting. It is thought that children need to reduce their stress levels in everyday life (in order to?) reduce their problems.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of conflict and nurturing factors for the divorced parent on the behavioral adaptation of their children. The participants in this study include 216 children in divorced families nationwide. Structural Equation Modeling with LISREL8 was used for statistical method. In order to achieve the purpose, researchers firstly tried to test a construct validity of conceptual variables(parental conflict, negative attitude of parental nurturing, child's belief about parental divorce, child's aggression and child's delinquence) by employing exploratory factor analysis(EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA). Result showed that all the five conceptual variables were discriminated. It was identified as the fit index of path structure was good(CFI=.955, NNFI=.947, RMSEA=.046). The specific result were as follows: 1. the parental conflict(${\xi}1$) was directly related to the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) and the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$). 2. the parental conflict(${\xi}1$) was indirectly related to child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$), the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). 3. the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) was directly related to the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$). 4. the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) was indirectly related to the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). Lastly, and, the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$) was directly related to the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). Researchers also identified the mediating effect of the parental nurturing between parental conflict and child's belief about parental divorce. On the basis of these results, this article provided some suggestions for promoting of children welfare.

Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a mother/infant-toddler health program developed to enhance parenting knowledge, behavior and confidence in low income mothers and home environment. Methods: A one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was used. Sixty-nine dyads of mothers and infant-toddlers (aged 0-36 months) were provided with weekly intervention for seven session. Each session consisted of three parts; first, educating to increase integrated knowledge related to the development of the infant/toddler including nutrition, first aid and home environment; second, counseling to share parenting experience among the mothers and to increase their nurturing confidence; third, playing with the infant/toddler to facilitate attachment-based parenting behavior for the mothers. Results: Following the programs, there were significant increases in parenting knowledge on nutrition and first aid. A significant improvement was found in attachment-based parenting behavior, but not in home safety practice. Nurturing confidence was not significantly increased. The program led to more positive home environment for infant/toddler's health and development. Conclusion: The findings provide evidence for mother-infant/toddler health program to improve parenting knowledge, attachment-based parenting behavior and better home environment in low income mothers. Study of the long term effectiveness of this program is recommended for future research.

Upbringing requires an active intervention in the process of children growing up. Convergence in technology and media makes it possible to augment nurturing by making blended infrastructures with new digital resources available in learning environments at schools. A game-based provision of educationally-valuable content within a collective, virtual environment combined with an analysis of events in the game after it has been played (blended nurture environment) may help to better communicate human values especially where old-fashioned discussion methods fail or do not fulfill the promise of effective, educational institution-based methods of bringing up. This is where life sciences, psychology, media, pedagogy and technology (need to) converge.
Concept analysis is a strategy that examines the attributes or characteristics of a concept. It is a formal linguistic exercise to determine those defining attributes. The basic purpose of concept analysis is to clarify ambiguous concepts in theory, and to propose a precise operational definition which reflects the theoretical base of the concept. The concept of maternal role is too broad and variable in expression, therefore there has been no authentic definition nor standard opinion for this concept. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of maternal role which in turn will help in the development of a theory of maternal role attainment. In order to analyze the concept of maternal role, much effort was extended to look up "maternal role" in various dictionaries and literature, but only a few cases were found which listed this terminology. Consultation on the meaning of "mother" and "role" separately was then done and consequently a definition of "maternal role" was obtained through concept analysis of these two words independently, finding their attributes and unifying them. The attributes of the concept of maternal role which was analyzed based on the steps of concept analysis by Walker & Avant (1988) are : 1) Women who have pregnancies 2) Women who have a child 3) Women who rear a child 4) Expected behavior according to social status 5) Learning through social cultures 6) Social interrelationships. The antecedents of the maternal role are : 1) women who are pregnant and deliver a baby, must keep in contact with their child. 2) Circumstances for childrearing must be provided. 3) Formation of self-concept as mother should be developed, cognitive activity, which is necessary for the nurturing activity, financial support and preparation of childrearing should be provided. And the consequences of the maternal role are : 1) Improvement 2) Changeability 3) Ambiguity 4) Stability Through this concept analysis, the concept of the maternal role is defined as "expected behavior by social interrelationships and learned nurturing behavior through social cultures."
