Robust Image Watermarking via Perceptual Structural Regularity-based JND Model

  • A better tradeoff between robustness and invisibility will be realized by using the just noticeable (JND) model into the quantization-based watermarking scheme. The JND model is usually used to describe the perception characteristics of human visual systems (HVS). According to the research of cognitive science, HVS can adaptively extract the structure features of an image. However, the existing JND models in the watermarking scheme do not consider the structure features. Therefore, a novel JND model is proposed, which includes three aspects: contrast sensitivity function, luminance adaptation, and contrast masking (CM). In this model, the CM effect is modeled by analyzing the direction features and texture complexity, which meets the human visual perception characteristics and matches well with the spread transform dither modulation (STDM) watermarking framework by employing a new method to measure edge intensity. Compared with the other existing JND models, the proposed JND model based on structural regularity is more efficient and applicable in the STDM watermarking scheme. In terms of the experimental results, the proposed scheme performs better than the other watermarking scheme based on the existing JND models.

엘리뇨/라니냐와 정상 기간 동중국해 북부해역의 자치어의 군집구조 비교 (Comparison of Community Structure of Fish Larvae in the Northern East China Sea in Normal and El Niño/La Niña Periods)

  • The aim of this study was to compare community structure of larval fish species in the northern East China Sea during normal meteorological conditions in autumn 2009, during the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o period in 2009-2010, and during the La Nina period in 2010. Fifty taxa were recorded during the study period; the most dominant species were Benthosema pterotum and Gobiidae spp. In October 2008 during the normal period, warm water from the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) intruded more into the surface and middle layers, and cold water affected by the Yellow Sea Cold Water (YSCW) intruded into the bottom layer. In October 2009 during the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o period, intrusion of the China Coastal Water (CCW), which has low salinity (<32.2 psu), was more apparent than intrusion of the TWC or YSCW. In October 2010 during the La Nina period, intrusion of the TWC and CCW was relatively weak, resulting in the lowest temperature and highest salinity observed during the study period in the eastern part of the study area. Hierarchical cluster, one-way ANOSIM (analysis of similarities), and SIMPER (similarity-percentages procedure) analyses provided two main results. First, the abundance of the most dominant larval fish species in autumn of the normal period was greater than that in autumn of the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o/La Nina periods, resulting in a significant difference in ichthyoplankton community structure between the periods. The abundance of Benthosema pterotum increased in the normal period, possibly influenced by the intrusion of cold water from the YSCW; the abundance of species residing in Korean waters (e.g., Gobiidae spp.) probably decreased during the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o/La Nina periods. The second finding was that the abundance of subtropical larval fish in autumn of the normal period was generally larger than that during autumn of the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o/La Nina periods. This could have been induced by the stronger intrusion of warm water from the TWC during the normal period. Although differences in oceanographic conditions between El Ni$\tilde{n}$o and La Nina periods were observed, the differences in ichthyoplankton community structure between the two periods were not significant.

  • Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold of codimension 3 with almost contact metric structure (𝜙, 𝜉, 𝜂, g) in a complex space form Mn+1(c). We denote by A, K and L the second fundamental forms with respect to the unit normal vector C, D and E respectively, where C is the distinguished normal vector, and by R𝜉 = R(𝜉, ·)𝜉 the structure Jacobi operator. Suppose that the third fundamental form t satisfies dt(X, Y) = 2𝜃g(𝜙X, Y) for a scalar 𝜃(≠ 2c) and any vector fields X and Y , and at the same time R𝜉K = KR𝜉 and ∇𝜙𝜉𝜉R𝜉 = 0. In this paper, we prove that if it satisfies ∇𝜉R𝜉 = 0 on M, then M is a real hypersurface of type (A) in Mn(c) provided that the scalar curvature $\bar{r}$ of M holds $\bar{r}-2(n-1)c{\leq}0$.

An experimental study on shear mechanical properties of clay-concrete interface with different roughness of contact surface

  • In order to understand the shear mechanical properties of the interface between clay and structure and better serve the practical engineering projects, it is critical to conduct shear tests on the clay-structure interface. In this work, the direct shear test of clay-concrete slab with different joint roughness coefficient (JRC) of the interface and different normal stress is performed in the laboratory. Our experimental results show that (1) shear strength of the interface between clay and structure is greatly affected by the change of normal stress under the same condition of JRC and shear stress of the interface gradually increases with increasing normal stress; (2) there is a critical value JRCcr in the roughness coefficient of the interface; (3) the relationship between shear strength and normal stress can be described by the Mohr Coulomb failure criterion, and the cohesion and friction angle of the interface under different roughness conditions can be calculated accordingly. We find that there also exists a critical value JRCcr for cohesion and the cohesion of the interface increases first and then decreases as JRC increases. Moreover, the friction angle of the interface fluctuates with the change of JRC and it is always smaller than the internal friction angle of clay used in this experiment; (4) the failure type of the interface of the clay-concrete slab is type I sliding failure and does not change with varying JRC when the normal stress is small enough. When the normal stress increases to a certain extent, the failure type of the interface will gradually change from shear failure to type II sliding failure with the increment of JRC.

  • In this paper, we characterize some semi-invariant submanifolds of codimension 3 with almost contact metric structure (${\phi}$, ${\xi}$, g) satisfying 𝔏ξ∇ = 0 in a nonflat complex space form, where ${\nabla}$ denotes the Riemannian connection induced on the submanifold, and 𝔏ξ is the operator of the Lie derivative with respect to the structure vector field ${\xi}$.

U-FLATNESS AND NON-EXPANSIVE MAPPINGS IN BANACH SPACES

  • In this paper, we define the modulus of n-dimensional U-flatness as the determinant of an $(n+1){\times}(n+1)$ matrix. The properties of the modulus are investigated and the relationships between this modulus and other geometric parameters of Banach spaces are studied. Some results on fixed point theory for non-expansive mappings and normal structure in Banach spaces are obtained.

  • In 1994, Lim-Xu asked whether the Maluta's constant D(X) < 1 implies the fixed point property for asymptotically nonexpansive mappings and gave a partial solution for this question under an additional assumption for T, i.e., weakly asymptotic regularity of T. In this paper, we shall prove that the result due to Lim-Xu is also satisfied for more general non-Lipschitzian mappings in reflexive Banach spaces with weak uniform normal structure. Some applications of this result are also added.

  • For high quality DTP products, it is important to optimize the parameters of media, pre- and after-treatment, ink, printer, etc. This study investigated the effect of types of fabrics(media) as a DTP parameters. Especially, the effects of media properties such as yarn twist and knitted fabric structure, on printability and color difference were examined. Two types of cotton yarn twist(830 and 1630 twist/meter) and five knitted structures of media were prepared with a single circular knitting machine. The K/S values of hard-twist samples were higher than those of normal-twist samples in every media structures. It is more effective to use the knitted fabrics of a hard-twist yarn to obtain dark color in the printing above input level value 60 where the printability improvement was most pronounced in case of plain structure. Among the five media structures a plain structure was the highest and that of corduroy was the lowest in terms of K/S values. Also ${\Delta}E$ values and lightness of the hard-twist yarn samples were smaller than that of normal-twist yarn samples when ${\Delta}E$ values were tested by using a standard of a normal twist yarn sample with a plain structure, which was increased in the case of corduroy structure.

  • A group G is said to satisfy the minimal condition on normal subgroups of infinite index if there does not exist an infinite properly descending chain $G_1$ > $G_2$ > ... of normal subgroups of infinite index in G. We characterize the structure of locally nilpotent groups satisfying this chain condition.
