  • The purpose of this paper is to develop methods for the dynamic analysis of multibody system that consist of interconnected rigid and deformable component. The equations of motion are derived by using the Lagrange's equation and finite element theory for the elastic mechanism systems. The type of equation of motion is the differential algebraic equation included kinematic nonlinear algebraic equation. The generalized coordinate partitioning method is used for solving this equation. To show the validity of this analysis solver, couple of models were canalized and those results were compared with the commercial package(ADAMS).

  • Dimensional synthesis of planar and spatial mechanisms mostly requires solution-finding, procedure for a system of polynomial equations. In case the system is nonlinear, numerical techniques like Newton-Raphson are often used. But there are no logical ways for finding all possible solutions in such iterative methods. In this paper, algebraic elimination is used to get all solutions for the synthesis of 5-SS spatial mechanism with seven prescribed positions. The proposed algorithm is more suitable for computer implementation and takes less time than existing one. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the implemented algorithm.

  • In this study, the describing function is adopted to represent nonlinearity in the system equations. The compliance can be obtained by solving nonlinear simultaneous algebraic quations for multi-degrees-of-freedom system with multinonlinearities. When the technique is applied, the nonlinearity of the system can be identified from the compliance which is obtained from the sinusoidal excitation of the system. By employing the describing function in the Building Block Analysis, we can extensively develop the BBA into investigation of the continuous systems with nonlinearities. The evaluated compliance can quantitatively show the effects of nonlinearity such as the transfer of the natural frequency, the variance of the compliance at the natural frequency, and the jump phenomena which occur during sweeping of the excitation frequency.

  • Here, we consider the existence and uniqueness solution of nonlinear integral equation of the second kind of type Volterra-Hammerstein. Also, the normality and continuity of the integral operator are discussed. A numerical method is used to obtain a system of nonlinear integral equations in position. The solution is obtained, and many applications in one, two and three dimensionals are considered.

  • We propose the robust nonlinear controller design methodology, the $H_{\infty}$ constrained quasi - linear quadratic Gaussian control (QLQG/ $H_{\infty}$), for the statistically-linearized multivariable system with hard nonlinearties such as Coulomb friction, deadzone, etc. The $H_{\infty}$ performance constraint is involved in the optimization process by replacing the covariance Lyapunov equation with the Riccati equation whose solution leads to an upper bound of the QLQG performance. Because of the system's nonlinearity, however, one equation among three Riccati equations contain the nonlinear correction terms that are very difficult to solve numerically. To treat this problem, we use simple algebraic techniques. With some analytic transformation for Riccati equations, the nonlinear correction terms can be so eliminated that the set of a linear controller to the different operating points are designed. Synthesizing these via inverse random input describing function (IRIDF) technique, the final nonlinear controller can be designed.

  • The forced vibrations of nondissipative nonlinear two-degree-of-freedom system, subjected to periodic forcing functions, are investigated by use of the method of slowly changing phase and amplitude. The first order differential equations are derived for nonrationally solutions and the coupled nonlinear algebraic equations for stationary solutions. Through investigating the response curves of the system, which are obtained numerically by using Newton-Raphson method, it is found that the resonances can occur at more than the number of degree-of-freedom of the system depending on the relation between the nonlinear spring parameters, which has no counterpart in linear systems.

  • The recent trend toward increased use of the once-through supercritical boiler worldwide is mainly due to its rapid response. The transient behavior of the steam generator are essential in the study of the system performance of power plants as well as for the design of their appropriate control systems. In this paper, a mathmatical model of the once-through supercritical pressure boiler is obtained by simulating a set of nonlinear differential and algebraic equations.

  • The EKF(Extended Kalman filter) method which is the state estimation algorithm of nonlinear stochastic system depends on the initial error and the estimated states. Therefore, the divergence of the estimated state can be caused if the initial values of the estimated states are not chosen as approximate real state values. In this paper, the demerit of the existing EKF method is improved using the EKF algorithm transformated by STWS(Single Term Walsh Series). This method linearizes each sampling interval of continous-time system through the derivation of an algebraic iterative equation without discretizing continuous system by the characteristic of STWS, the convergence of the estimated states can be improved. The validity of the proposed method is checked through comparison with the existing EKF method in simulation.

  • This paper focuses on optimal tuning of nonlinear parameters of a dual-input power system stabilizer(dual-input PSS), which can improve the system damping performance immediately following a large disturbance. Until recently, various PSS models have developed to bring stability and reliability to power systems, and some of these models are used in industry applications. However, due to non-smooth nonlinearities from the interaction between linear parameters(gains and time constants of linear controllers) and nonlinear parameters(saturation output limits), the output limit parameters cannot be determined by the conventional tuning methods based on linear analysis. Only ad hoc tuning procedures('trial and error' approach) have been used. Therefore, the steepest descent method is applied to implement the optimal tuning of the nonlinear parameters of the dual-input PSS. The gradient required in this optimization technique can be computed from trajectory sensitivities in hybrid system modeling with the differential-algebraic-impulsive-switched(DAIS) structure. The optimal output limits of the dual-input PSS are evaluated by time-domain simulation in both a single machine infinite bus(SMIB) system and a multi-machine power system in comparison with those of a single-input PSS.

  • A general procedure for the numerical solution of coupled, nonlinear, differential two-point boundary-value problems, solutions of which are crucial to the controller design, has been developed and demonstrated. A fixed-end-points, free-terminal-time, optimal-control problem, which is derived from Pontryagin's Maximum Principle, is solved by an extension of Davidenko's method, a differential form of Newton's method, for algebraic root finding. By a discretization process like finite differences, the differential equations are converted to a nonlinear algebraic system. Davidenko's method reconverts this into a pseudo-time-dependent set of implicitly coupled ODEs suitable for solution by modern, high-performance solvers. Another important advantage of Davidenko's method related to the time-optimal problem is that the terminal time can be computed by treating this unkown as an additional variable and sup- plying the Hamiltonian at the terminal time as an additional equation. Davidenko's method uas used to produce optimal trajectories of a single-degree-of-freedom problem. This numerical method provides switching times for open-loop control, minimized terminal time and optimal input torque sequences. This numerical technique could easily be adapted to the multi-point boundary-value problems.
