The purpose of this study was to analyze the design sensitivity of an independent driving system for disaster response. The research procedure was as follows. First, an analysis model based on the circuit diagram of the driving system was developed. Second, to ensure the reliability of the analytical model, the load-free test results and analysis results were compared. Even if different loads acted on four independent motors, the system was confirmed to be implemented according to the design intent. Finally, the design variables of the analysis model were analyzed to obtain design variables with a significant impact on system performance and stability. The analysis program used simulation X.
The nonlinear stage of the evolution of free boundary between a light fluid and a heavy fluid driven by an external force is studied by a potential flow model with a source singlarity. The potential flow model is applied to a bubble and spije evolution for constantly accelerated interface (Rayleigh-Taylor instability) and impulsively accelerated interface (Richtmyer-Meshkow instability). The numerical results of the model show that, in constantly accelerated intergace, bubble grows with constant velocity and the spike falls with gravitational acceleration at later times, while the velocity of the bubble in impulsively accelerated interface decay to zero asymp flow model for the bubble and spike for constantly accelerated interface and impulsively accelerated interface.
Recently, in proportion to the increase of earthquake occurrence-frequency and its strength in the countries within the circum-pan Pacific earthquake belt, a concept of earthquake-proof design for huge structures containing liquid has been growing up. This study deals with the refinement of classical numerical approaches for the free vibration analysis of separated structure and liquid motions. According to the liquid-structure interaction, LNG-storage tanks exhibit two distinguished eigenmodes, the sloshing mode and the bulging mode. For the sloshing -mode analysis, we refine the classical rigid-tank model by reflecting the container flexibility. While, for the bulging-mode analysis, we refine the classical uncoupled structural vibration system by taking the liquid free-surface fluctuation into consideration. We first construct the refined dynamic models for both problems, and present the refined numerical procedures. Furthermore, in order for the efficient treatment of large-scale matrices, we employ the Lanczos iteration scheme and the frontal-solver for our test FEM program. With the developed program we carry out numerical experiments illustrating the theoretical results.
In the present paper a transient three-dimensional thermo-mechanical model for concrete is presented. For given boundary conditions, temperature distribution is calculated by employing a three-dimensional transient thermal finite element analysis. Thermal properties of concrete are assumed to be constant and independent of the stress-strain distribution. In the thermo-mechanical model for concrete the total strain tensor is decomposed into pure mechanical strain, free thermal strain and load induced thermal strain. The mechanical strain is calculated by using temperature dependent microplane model for concrete (O$\check{z}$bolt, et al. 2001). The dependency of the macroscopic concrete properties (Young's modulus, tensile and compressive strengths and fracture energy) on temperature is based on the available experimental database. The stress independent free thermal strain is calculated according to the proposal of Nielsen, et al. (2001). The load induced thermal strain is obtained by employing the biparabolic model, which was recently proposed by Nielsen, et al. (2004). It is assumed that the total load induced thermal strain is irrecoverable, i.e., creep component is neglected. The model is implemented into a three-dimensional FE code. The performance of headed stud anchors exposed to fire was studied. Three-dimensional transient thermal FE analysis was carried out for three embedment depths and for four thermal loading histories. The results of the analysis show that the resistance of anchors can be significantly reduced if they are exposed to fire. The largest reduction of the load capacity was obtained for anchors with relatively small embedment depths. The numerical results agree well with the available experimental evidence.

There are the free space model, the direct-path and ground reflected model, Egli model, Okumura-Hata model in the representative propagational models. The measured results at the area of PNG area were used as the experimental data in this paper. The new proposed partial interval analysis method is applied on the measured propagation data in the cellular band. The interval for the analysis is divided from the entire 30 Km distance to 5 Km, and next to 1 Km. The best-fit propagation models are chosen on all partial intervals. The means and standard deviations are calculated for the differences between the measured data and all partial interval models. By using the 5 Km- or 1 Km- partial interval analysis, the standard deviation between the measured data and the partial propagation models was improved more than 1.7 dB.
In this paper, the simple way to evaluate the value of the activation energy for the overall rate of free radical polymerization by using DSC thermograms was studied using free radical polymerization or butylacrylate as a model. Activation ehergies were determined at heating rates of 1, 2, 5, and $10^{\circ}C/min$ by applying the multiple scanning-rate methods of Kissinger, Osawa, and half-width methods as well as the single rate method of Barrett. The value of the overall activation energy measured was closely matched with the values calculated from individual data. This work also demonstrated that the use of the isoconversional method was a simple and effective way to estimate the activation energy for the overall free radical polymerization.

Impedance and electrical conduction studies of $Ba(Nd_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ ceramic prepared using conventional high temperature solid-state reaction technique are presented. The crystal symmetry, space group and unit cell dimensions were estimated using Rietveld analysis. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the formation of a single-phase cubic structure with space group $Pm\bar{3}m$. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis and scanning electron microscopy studies were carried to study the quality and purity of compound. The circuit model fittings were carried out using the impedance data to find the correlation between the response of real system and idealized model electrical circuit. Complex impedance analyses suggested the dielectric relaxation to be of non-Debye type and negative temperature coefficient of resistance character. The correlated barrier hopping model was employed to successfully explain the mechanism of charge transport in $Ba(Nd_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$. The ac conductivity data were used to evaluate the density of states at Fermi level, minimum hopping length and apparent activation energy.
In this paper, free vibration finite element analysis of axially moving laminated composite beams subjected to axial tension is studied. It is assumed that the beam has a constant axial velocity and is subject to uniform axial tension. The analysis is based on higher-order theories that have been presented by Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF). In the CUF technique, the three dimensional (3D) displacement fields are expressed as the approximation of the arbitrary order of the displacement unknowns over the cross-section. This higher-order expansion is considered in equivalent single layer (ESL) model. The governing equations of motion are obtained via Hamilton's principle. Finally, several numerical examples are presented and the effect of the ply-angle, travelling speed and axial tension on the natural frequencies and beam stability are demonstrated.
Various government-based consulting techniques are being adapted to increase competitive power and to achieve management innovation of Korean farms. These business consulting services are offered by free or paid consulting. This study focuses on what socio-economic characteristics are affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting services, based on 169 surveyed data from Chunchungnam-do. Logit Model is used to identify the relationship between the probability of consulting intent and factors representing farm characteristics. The model was applied on each of free and paid consulting. According to the results, degree of consulting recognition, age, education, raised crop are significant factors affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting service in the case of free consulting at 10% of significance level. In the case of paid consulting, level of farming, age, income, insufficiency of farming, and education were identified as significant factors. In terms of elasticity of each variable, most variables for free consulting service are inelastic to consulting intent, whereas age, level of farming, and education are elastic for paid consulting service. Overall results implies that more public relations are required to activate free consulting services for the farms with moderate level of farming. In the case of paid consulting, it is effective to adapt consulting services for younger farms with higher level of farming and education.

The viscous free surface flow around KRISO container ship (KCS) is computed using the finite volume based multi block RANS code, WAVIS developed at KRISO. The free surface is captured with the Level-Set method and the realizable k-$\varepsilon$ model is employed for turbulence closure. The computations are carried out at model scale. For accurate free surface solution and its stable convergence the computations are performed with a suitable grid refinement around the free surface by applying an implicit discretization method based on a finite volume method to the Level-Set formulation. In all computational cases the numerical results agree well with experimental measurements.
