  • This paper presents a stability proof for the nonlinear feedback linearization-observer/sliding mode model following controller (NFL-O/SMMFC). The separation principle is derived, and the closed-loop stability is proved by a Lyapunov function candidate using an addition form of the sliding surface vector and the estimation error.

  • A variable structure control (VSC) based model following control system that possesses fault detection and isolation (FDI) capability as well as fault tolerance property is proposed. The nonlinear part of the proposed control law. whose magnitude is determined by sliding variables, plays the role of suppressing fault effect. Thus, approximate fault reconstruction is also possible via the analysis of sliding variables. The proposed algorithm is applied to an active suspension system of pound vehicles to verify its applicability.

  • Currently, existing car following models among several basic systems of advanced vehicle systems are almost developed related to the physical relation between two vehicles except for the driver's behavior or environmental factors. But the consideration of driver's character and environmental factors on driving are very essential factors for actual application. Hence, we suggested calibrating the degree of driver's discomfort on driving that is the former study to develop a new car following model of advanced vehicle to use in actuality. The degree of driver's discomfortness (Measure-of-Alarmness; MOA)is measured related to the relationship between the following vehicle and the preceding vehicle, the environmental factors and driver's characters in ubiquitous traffic. We made up questions to drivers to obtain the general and the objective measurement of driver's MOA. And the fuzzy logic model for measurement of MOA was constructed based on the results of survey. We verified the suitability of fuzzy logic model through the computation of MOA with several scenarios. And we measured the quantitative degree of driver's discomfortness on car following related to several factors which affect drivers. In accordance with this study, development of car following model applying driver's MOA will promote the actual application of advanced vehicle more effectively than the existing models. Finally, we thought the measurement of driver's MOA will be applied significantly to evaluate safety and comfort of drivers on driving.

  • Generally PI controller is used in the servo system, But the time response of the system which is designed by the PI control scheme is deviated from the desired time response by the system parameter variation or the perturbation like the torque disturbance. LMFC(Linear Model Following Controller) is used to make the response of the system follow that of the model even though the parameter variation or the perturbation exists. In this paper, the design method which uses auxiliary model to construct the robustness enhancer in LMFC is proposed. And this robustness enhancer is designed by robust control theory. The proposed method has facter convergence time against low frequency torque disturbance than LMFC. The results are verified by SIMULINK simulation and experiments.

  • This paper considers the linear multivariable model following servo system synthesis method in which linear optimal regulator problem is used to design controllers that make the response of the plant should be kept close to a specified ideal response of the model. The characteristics of this system is that the constructed system is robust in the presence of the constant disturbances or the parameter perturbations of the plant. Especially, the steady state offset is excluded for the ramp response of the model by direct feedforward compensator from the reference input.

  • In this paper a model following flight control system design using the discrete time quasi-sliding mode control method is described. The quasi-sliding mode is represented as the sliding mode band, not as the sliding surface. The quasi-sliding mode control is composed of the equivalent control for the nominal system without uncertainties and disturbances and the additive control compensating the uncertainties and disturbances. The linearized plant on the equilibrium point is used in designing a flight control system and the stability conditions are proposed for the model uncertainties. Pseudo-state feedback control which uses the model variables for the unmeasured states is proposed. The proposed method is applied to the design of the roll attitude and pitch load factor control of a bank-to-turn missile. The performance is verified through the nonlinear six degrees of freedom flight simulation.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to construct a model to estimate the delay that vehicles arriving randomly will be experienced at an isolated singalized intersection. To do this the following objectives are set in this study: (i) An what distance a random arrival pattern occurs after a platoon of vehicles are dis-charged from the stop line; (ii) A model which estimates the average delay per through-vehicle with respect to the de-gree of saturation; and (iii) The relation between the stepped delay and average approach delay per vehicle. The following are the findings of this study: (i) A random arrival pattern on the first second and third lanes occur 300,400 and 300m downstream from stop line rdspectively. A random arrival pattern on lane group occurs 500m downstream from the stop line ; (ii) A model for the estimation of approach delay has been developed in such a way that up to x=0.7 the delay increases linearly and beyond 0.7 the delay increases rapidly in a form of second order polynomial due to high degree of saturation : and (iii) Approach delay equals approximately 1.21 times of stopped delay.

  • Frequency is the unique physical value for all the interconnected systems. Therefore. the load frequency control is in the responsibility of all members in the interconnection power unbalance in one of the interconnected system can cause the problems in others. In the following text a brief description and the role of frequency in an interconnected system will be presented. Following is the short description of the Balkan Interconnection (UCTE Second Synchronous Zone) with schematic diagram. A Power-Frequency (P-f) dynamic model of a control area wil1 be shown. Model gives the analytical solution for frequency change versus a time after outage of a generator in the power system. This model will be applied to the Balkan Interconnection and compared with numerical approach. Advantages and drawbacks of the analytical method will be discussed Purpose of using this model is to investigate if the pumps in reversible hydropower plant will be underfrequency shed after the outage of the biggest generator unit in the interconnection, according %o (n-1) security postulate.
