전남대학교 졸업생의 취업구조와 지역발전 (Employment Structure of University Graduates and Regional Development: A Case Study of Chonnam National University)

  • 오늘날 대학은 지역발전에 여러 가지로 기여하지만, 특히 대학에서 육성된 인재의 지역노동시장으로의 이전은 인적자본의 축적과 함께 지역경제의 경쟁력 확보에 중요하게 작용한다. 본 연구는 전남대학을 사례로 졸업생의 졸업에 있어 구조적 특성과 취업지의 분포, 그리고 취업전략을 규명하고자 한다. 전남대학 졸업생의 취업률 추이는 우리 나라 전체 대졸자 취업률을 경향적으로 좇아가지만, 지역의 취약한 산업구조로 인하여 전국 평균에 미치지 못하고 있다. 졸업생 가운데 취업자의 취업지 분포는 (대)도시로의 집중과 광주.전남지역 및 수도권으로의 양극화 현상을 뚜렷이 보여주며, 또한 이들 졸업생의 취업전략에 있어서는 직업적 유연성을 통해 노동시장의 요구에 대처하기보다는 공간적 이동성을 통한 적응을 선호하는 측면이 부각되고 있다. 전체적으로 전남대학 졸업생의 취업과 관련하여 이른바 두뇌유출 양상이 나타나며, 따라서 전남대학이 졸업생을 통하여 지역경제 발전과 국지적 노동시장의 자질개선에 기여하는 정도는 제한적임을 알 수 있다.

Dimensions of Smart Tourism and Its Levels: An Integrative Literature Review

  • Smart tourism is seen as a revolution in the tourism industry, involving innovative and transformative theoretical-practical approaches for the sector. As a result of its application in the tourist context, benefits can be seen such as more sustainable practices, greater mobility and better accessibility in destinations, evolution of processes and experiences of tourists. Much of this is achieved through the support of technological solutions. However, despite the immense expectations, and the many researches carried out on it, a literature summary regarding the dimensions that can be observed in each application of this smart tourism has not yet been proposed. Therefore, supported by the PRISMA recommendation, this research proposed to carry out an integrative review of the literature on smart tourism (in its different levels of application, such as the city, the destination and the smart tourism region), with the objective of mapping the dimensions that underlie it. Thus, from an initial scope of 833 intellectual productions obtained, inputs were found for the dimensions in 363 of them after a thorough analysis. The compilation of data obtained from these productions supported the proposition of 14 operational dimensions of smart tourism, namely: collaboration, technology, sustainability, experience, accessibility, knowledge management, innovation management, human capital, marketing, customized services, transparency, safety, governance and mobility. With this set of dimensions, it is envisaged that the implementation of smart tourism projects can present more comprehensive and assertive results. In addition, shortcomings and opportunities for new research that support the evolution of the theory and practice of smart tourism are highlighted.

Do Roads Enhance Regional Trade? Evidence Based on China's Provincial Data

  • We investigate the impact of roads and highways within the provinces on the regional trade of China using the augmented Gravity Model and theory of modeling trade. We take a panel data covering 31 provinces of China over 20 years period (1998-2017) for the estimations. We apply ARMA-OLS model, fixed and random effects, and robust findings by Hausman test. The results imply that road and highway lengths within the provinces have a significantly positive impact on the value of the province-wise exports. The positive impact is due to the fact the increased coverage of roads and highways increase accessibility to resources and mobility of goods and services within the regions. Moreover, employment in the transportation sector, per capita GDP and population of the provinces also illustrate positive and significant influence on regional exports and trade. The impact of China's WTO accession on regional exports has been positive, while the financial crisis has had a negative impact. The year dummies show that, in the years following the financial crisis, China was able to regress from the external shock as trade within the provinces increased. The increase in exports after financial crisis is mainly due to the government policies and support to every province.

Geographical Imbalances: Migration Patterns of New Graduate Nurses and Factors Related to Working in Non-Metropolitan Hospitals

  • Purpose: To examine geographical imbalances by analyzing new graduate nurses' migration patterns among regions where they grew up, attended nursing school, and had their first employment and to identify factors related to working in non-metropolitan areas. Methods: The sample consisted of 507 new graduates working in hospitals as full-time registered nurses in South Korea. Migration patterns were categorized into 5 patterns based on sequential transitions of "geographic origin-nursing school-hospital." Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with working in non-metropolitan hospitals. Results: Nurses who grew up, graduated, and worked in the same region accounted for the greatest proportion (54%). Sixty-five percent had their first employment in the region where they graduated. Nurses tended to move from poor to rich regions and from non-metropolitan to metropolitan areas. Working in non-metropolitan hospitals was related to older age, the father having completed less than 4 years of college education, non-metropolitan origin, non-capital city school graduation, and a diploma (vs. baccalaureate) degree. Conclusion: Admitting students with rural backgrounds, increasing rural nursing school admission capacities, and providing service-requiring scholarships, particularly for students from low-income families, are recommended to address geographical imbalances.

A Study of Fronthaul Networks in CRANs - Requirements and Recent Advancements

  • One of the most innovative paradigms for the next-generation of wireless cellular networks is the cloud-radio access networks (C-RANs). In C-RANs, base station functions are distributed between the remote radio heads (RHHs) and base band unit (BBU) pool, and a communication link is defined between them which is referred as the fronthaul. This leveraging link is expected to reduce the CAPEX (capital expenditure) and OPEX (operating expense) of envisioned cellular architectures as well as improves the spectral and energy efficiencies, provides the high scalability, and efficient mobility management capabilities. The fronthaul link carries the baseband signals between the RRHs and BBU pool using the digital radio over fiber (RoF) based common public radio interface (CPRI). CPRI based optical links imposed stringent synchronization, latency and throughput requirements on the fronthaul. As a result, fronthaul becomes a hinder in commercial deployments of C-RANs and is seen as one of a major bottleneck for backbone networks. The optimization of fronthaul is still a challenging issue and requires further exploration at industrial and academic levels. This paper comprehensively summarized the current challenges and requirements of fronthaul networks, and discusses the recently proposed system architectures, virtualization techniques, key transport technologies and compression schemes to carry the time-sensitive traffic in fronthaul networks.

International Cooperation of Uzbekistan in Labor Migration

  • Uzbekistan has been gradually integrating into the world economy since gaining its independence back in 1991. The need to integrate stems from the desire to advance the national economy and social well-being of population through importing advanced technologies or stimulating exports. However, opening up the country also meant exposure to increase in the mobility of its human capital. As a result, Uzbekistan has witnessed labor migration in and out of the country in the past couple of decades, driven by various causes, which is having inevitable social and economic implications for the country. Intensifying processes in contemporary international labor market make migration as a mechanism, which has a back-to-back impact onto and from economic development of a country. From developing countries' perspective, international labor migration is an instrument for reducing tension in national labor markets, decreasing high rates of unemployment and expanding sources of income. From developed countries' perspective, international labor migration helps solve demographic problems like decreasing number of population, aging of population and shortage of labor force. Thus, this processes turned into a mechanism or a system, which is not possible to ignore. Uzbekistan, in particular, is increasing its participation in the international labor market due to its high rates of population growth and young population.

장애인들의 편의를 증진시키기 위한 환경디자인의 세부요소에 관한 연구 - 스톡홀름.오슬로 교통시설을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Environmental Elements Supporting the People with Disabilities - Focused on the Transportation Facilities of Stockholm and Oslo -)

  • 본 연구는 장애인의 이용도가 높은 환경을 개선하고자 하는 궁극목표를 위한 단계적 연구 중 '국외법규 고찰 및 사례분석'에 관한 것이다. 이를 위해 장애인 복지에 관한 규범과 기술적인 기초를 북구에서 가장 먼저 미련하였던 스웨덴을 연구대상으로 하여 건축법규와 장애인 관련 지침을 고찰하고 스톡홀름과 오슬로의 교통시설의 환경디자인 요소를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 스웨덴의 건축법규(BBR 94)는 그 기본 개념이 접근성 안정성 효율성에 있으나, 의무사항으로 규정된 항목이 매우 적고 구체적인 세부지침도 미흡하였으며, 국립 스웨덴 장애인 연구소에서 더욱 상세한 세부지침을 제공하고 있었다. 사례분석 결과,4개의 대상시설이 정도와 방법의 차이는 있으나 건축법규에서 의무화하거나 권장하고 있는 사항보다 실내 환경에서의 접근성 적용성 안정성 이동성 지원성에서 치수 색채 재료 조명 등의 세부요소를 이용하여 다양하게 해결안을 모색하고 있는 것으로 평가되었다.

Feldstein-Horioka Puzzle in Thailand and China: Evidence from the ARDL Bounds Testing

  • This study aimed to investigate the existence of the Feldstein-Horioka (1980) puzzle in international macroeconomics by applying the conditional Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to examine the long-run relationship between national savings and investments in Thailand and China. The input of this study relied on annual national savings and investments as a fraction of GDP during 1980-2019 which was collected from China National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and Thailand National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC). Hypothetically, Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips-Perron (PP) unit root tests were applied to test the stationary properties and to investigate the integration level of selected time series. The empirical results, confirmed by cumulative sum (CUSUM) and cumulative sum square (CUSUMSQ), maintained no serial correlation and structural break problems. The finding of this study suggested that the Feldstein-Horioka puzzle in Thailand did not exist significantly. Thailand's national savings and investments nexus was independent, following the classic economic idea that financial liberalization, or perfect capital mobility, allowed national savings and investments to flow freely to countries with better interest rates. Whereas, a strong significant correlation was found in the case of China during the fixed exchange rate regime switching in 1994 and post WTO participation after 2001-2019.

이중양분선택형 질문법을 이용한 CVM에 의한 지하철 역사 Barrier-free 시설의 가치분석 (Value Analysis of Barrier-free Facilities at Subway Stations Using CVM with a Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice Question)

  • 향후 장애인과 고령인구의 지속적인 증가로 인해 교통약자의 통행수요는 확대될 것이며, 이에 따라 고령자, 장애자들이 안전하고 쾌적하게 생활할 수 있도록 지원하는 사회간접자본의 정비가 요구되고 있다. 무엇보다도 대중교통관련 시설의 Barrier-free화(무장애화)는 시급한 사안이라 보아진다. 본 연구의 목적은 공공재의 가치추정에 있어 효율적인 방법론인 이중양분선택형 질문법에 의한 CVM(조건부가치측정법)을 이용하여 지하철 역사의 Barrier-free 시설의 가치를 추정하고, 생존분석을 통해 지하철 이용자들의 지불의사금액에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과, 에스컬레이터와 엘리베이터에 대한 평균지불의사금액이 장애인개찰기나 단차해소시설의 평균지불의사금액에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나와 실제 Barrier-free 시설의 확충에 있어서 이용편의시설보다는 이동편의시설을 먼저 시급히 설치해 나가야 함을 시사하고 있다. 또한 각 Barrier-free 시설에 대한 교통약자의 평균지불의사금액이 일반인의 평균지불의사금액에 비해 훨씬 높아 일반인과 비교할 때 교통약자들이 Barrier-free 시설의 가치를 상대적으로 높게 평가하고 있었다.

동태CGE모형을 이용한 한·일FTA와 한·중FTA의 경제적 효과 비교분석 (A Comparative Study on Economic Impacts of a China-Korea FTA and a Japan-Korea FTA using a Dynamic CGE Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA가 한국 경제에 미치게 될 영향을 "동태(動態)CGE모형"을 이용하여 비교 분석하였다. 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA가 한국 경제에 미치는 영향에 관한 기존연구는 대부분 정태(靜態)CGE모형을 이용한 것이다. 주요 분석 결과를 보면, 한 중FTA가 한 일FTA보다 한국의 총수출을 더 크게 증가시키면서 한국 경제성장에 더 많이 기여할 것으로 전망된다. 또한 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA가 한국에 무역수지 적자를 가져올 것으로 전망되지만 무역적자 규모는 한국의 교역규모에 비하면 문제가 되지 않을 것으로 분석되었다. 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA가 한국의 산업별 생산 및 교역에 미치는 영향을 보면, 주요 산업에서 보완적인 관계를 보이고 있어 상호 부정적 효과를 상쇄시키거나 긍정적 효과를 배가 시킬 것으로 전망되어 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA를 동시에 추진하는 것이 보다 바람직하다고 판단된다. 차후 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA 협상이 진행되고 FTA의 이행안이 확정되는 경우, 한 일FTA와 한 중FTA의 영향분석에 관한 연구에서는 이행안의 시기를 명시적으로 고려할 수 있고 또한 국제자본의 이동과 자본의 소유를 반영하면서 국내투자는 물론 외국투자가 개별 국가의 투자에 영향을 주고 이를 통해 자본축적과 생산간의 관계를 명시적으로 설명할 수 있는 동태CGE모형을 이용하는 것이 바람직하다는 것을 강조하고자 한다.
