  • The efficiency and robustness of the scale estimator based on the Gini's mean difference are well known in Nam et al.(2000). In this paper we propose use of robust control limits based on the Gini's mean difference for the control of the process deviation. To compare the performances of the proposed control chart with the existing R-chart or S-chart, some Monte Carlo simulations are performed. The simulation results show that the use of the Gini's mean difference in construction of the control limits has good performance.

  • AIn this paper we introduce and study a multivariate notions of mean inactivity time (MIT) functions. Basic properties of these functions are derived and their relationship to the multivariate conditional reversed hazard rate functions is studied. A partial ordering, called MIT ordering, of non-negative random vectors is introduced and its basic properties are presented. Its relationship to reversed hazard rate ordering is pointed out. Finally, using the MIT ordering, a bivariate and multivariate notions of IMIT (increasing mean inactivity time) class is introduced and studied.

  • For estimating the mean of a finite population, three classes of estimators using multi-auxiliary information with unknown means using two phase sampling in presence of non-response have been proposed with their properties. Asymptotically optimum estimator(AOE) in each class has been identified along with their mean squared error formulae. An empirical study is also given.

  • Kim and Kim (1997) developed a method of estimating the mean lifetime based on the augmented data after imputing censored observations. Assuming the linear relationship between lifetime and covariates, and then introducing the procedure of Buckley and James (1979) to estimate the mean lifetimes of censored observations, they proposed a mean lifetime estimator and its consistency under the regularity conditions. In this article, the Kim and Kim's estimator is compared with the estimator introduced by Gill (1983) through simulations under the various configurations. Also, their estimator is illustrated with two real data sets.

  • It is well known that every invariant harmonic function on the unit ball of the multi-dimensional complex space has the volume version of the invariant mean value property. In 1993 Ahern, Flores and Rudin first observed that the validity of the converse depends on the dimension of the underlying complex space. Later Lie and Shi obtained the analogues on the unit ball of multi-dimensional real space. In this paper we obtain the half-space analogues of the results of Liu and Shi.

  • In this paper, we give an upper bound for the fundamental tone of stable constant mean curvature hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. Let M be an n-dimensional complete non-compact constant mean curvature hypersurface with finite L2-norm of the traceless second fundamental form. If M is weakly stable, then λ1(M) is bounded above by n2 + O(n2+s) for arbitrary s > 0.

  • In this paper, we define the one-sided fuzzy set and we calculate the mean value and variance, defined by C. Carlsson and R. $Full{\acute{e}}r$, of this fuzzy set. And we obtain a result that, in some special case, the mean of the product of two fuzzy sets is the product of means of each fuzzy sets. This result can be considered as the similar result which is well-known in the independence of events in probability theory.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to study the hybrid mean value problem involving generalized Dedekind sums, generalized Hardy sums and Kloosterman sums. Some exact computational formulas are given by using the properties of Gauss sums and the mean value theorem of the Dirichlet L-function. A result of W. Peng and T. P. Zhang [12] is extended. The new results avoid the restriction that q is a prime.
