The purpose of this study is to analyze manifestation examples and effects of group creativity in mathematical modeling and to discuss teaching and learning methods for group creativity. The following two points were examined from the theoretical background. First, we examined the possibility of group activity in mathematical modeling. Second, we examined the meaning and characteristics of group creativity. Six students in the second grade of high school participated in this study in two groups of three each. Mathematical modeling task was "What are your own strategies to prevent or cope with blackouts?". Unit of analysis was the observed types of interaction at each stage of mathematical modeling. Especially, it was confirmed that group creativity can be developed through repetitive occurrences of mutually complementary, conflict-based, metacognitive interactions. The conclusion is as follows. First, examples of mutually complementary interaction, conflict-based interaction, and metacognitive interaction were observed in the real-world inquiry and the factor-finding stage, the simplification stage, and the mathematical model derivation stage, respectively. And the positive effect of group creativity on mathematical modeling were confirmed. Second, example of non interaction was observed, and it was confirmed that there were limitations on students' interaction object and interaction participation, and teacher's failure on appropriate intervention. Third, as teaching learning methods for group creativity, we proposed students' role play and teachers' questioning in the direction of promoting interaction.

These days, the importance of the mathematics interaction is strongly emphasized, which leads to the need of research on how the interaction is being practiced in the math class and what can be the desirable interaction in terms of mathematical thinking. To figure out the correlation between the mathematical interaction patterns and mathematical thinking, it also classifies mathematical thinking levels into the phases of recognizing, building-with and constructing. we can say that there are all of three patterns of the mathematics interactions in the class, and although it seems that the funnel pattern is contributing to active interaction between the students and teachers, it has few positive effects regarding mathematical thinking. In other words, what we need is not the frequency of the interaction but the mathematics interaction that improves students' mathematical thinking. Therefore, we can conclude that it is the focus pattern that is desirable mathematics interaction in the class in the view of mathematical thinking.
The purpose of this study was to explore status of mathematical interactions between parent and child and use of mathematical materials at home. For this purpose, questionnaires were developed. The framework of the questionnaires consisted of mathematics education content domains. 276 parents(4-5 year old children) in J Province responded to the questionnaires, which were analyzed according to the level of home income, the mother's work conditions and the mother's level of education. The results were as follows: First, between parent and child mathematical interaction at home showed a 2.84 score in average and frequency of mathematical interaction expressed in the domains of 'Understanding of regularity', 'Measurement', 'Growing number sense', 'Space and shapes', 'Organizing data and showing results'. The domains of 'Growing number sense', 'space and shapes', and 'measurement' showed significant difference only by mother's level of education. The higher the mother's level of education, the more frequent the mathematical interaction between parent and child. Second, the use of mathematical materials showed an average score of 1.18, which means mathematical materials were practically not used at home. Also, the use of mathematical materials showed a slightly significant difference when measures against the levels of home income and the mother's level of education. The results showed a significant difference in parent-child mathematical interactions, and the possession and use of mathematical materials when measures against by level of home income and the mother's work conditions. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that the parent education program for mathematical interaction to apply at home and mathematics curriculum to be connected early in childhood education institution and home should be developed for parents.
The research was aimed at finding the dynamic aspects of the linguistic and social interaction with mathematical concept development using a graphing calculator in collaborative learning. This study was broadly divided into two categories: "Knowledge Construction Statement" for understanding how the verbal interaction works when a graphing calculator is used, and "Teacher's Instructional Role" for the research on the reaction of the students and on the teacher's role as a guide in helping students to construct their knowledge. This research used a case study in a collaborative learning environment. An attempt was made to show clearly how the students interacted with one another in a technology environment using a graphing calculator as a tool. A graphing calculator promoted the students' linguistic interaction and changed the characteristics of the linguistic interaction. Although it didn't show the different aspects completely, some changes of the linguistic traits were perceived.aits were perceived.
This study helps infant teachers practice a constructivism-based teacher education program that supports infant mathematical inquiry activities and examines improvements in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiatives, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. Twenty two experiment group infant teachers and twenty two comparison group infant teachers were chosen at two workforce educare centers. The experiment group infant teachers participated in 18 sessions of a constructivism teacher training program for 8 weeks, but the comparison group infant teachers did not take part in the program. Pretest and post-tests were implemented for the mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiatives, mathematical interactions, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy in the experiment group. Independent sample t-test and ANCOVA were tested using Windows SPSS statistics 21.0. The homogeneity test for the experiment and comparison group revealed significant differences. ANCOVA was carried out after the pretest score was controlled as a co-variance. Significant differences were indicated in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiative, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. The results indicated that a constructivism-based teacher education program to support infant mathematical inquiry activities influenced improvements in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiative, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. This study proved the effects of the program based on constructivism theory content for the knowledge, skills and attitude about infant teaching of mathematical initiatives and practiced a program of exploration, investigation, application and assessment for infant teachers. The results can help infant teachers teach mathematical exploration activities and help activate infant mathematical exploration activities.
In this paper, we consider an interaction energy with attractive-repulsive potential. We survey recent results on the structure of global minimizers for the mildly repulsive interaction energy. We introduce a theorem which is important to the proof of the above results, and give a detailed proof of the theorem.
Objective: The purpose is to verify that whether there are significant correlation between parent-teacher cooperation, quality of home environment, and mathematical interaction of parents and cognitive development of 3-year-olds, and the quality of home environment and mathematical interaction mediate the relationship between the parent-teacher cooperation and the cognitive development. Methods: A test was performed on 110 3-year-olds enrolledin a daycare center located in city S, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on their parents. We analyzed our data using SPSS WIN 21.0 and pearson's correlation, tested the mediating effect using regression, and used the Sobel test to check significance of the mediating effect. Results: Cognitive development of 3-year-olds was correlated with the parent- teacher cooperation, the quality of home environment, and mathematical interaction of parents. The quality of home environment showed complete mediating effect on the relationship between the parent-teacher cooperation and the cognitive development, and the mathematical interaction showed complete mediating effect on the relationship between the parent-teacher cooperation and the cognitive development. Conclusion/Implications: The parent-teacher cooperation indirectly predicts the cognitive development through the quality of home environment and the mathematical interaction. This research can contribute to the development of the family- institution connection program to facilitate the parent-teacher cooperation.
Objective: This study aimed to develop and apply the home connection program for promoting the mathematical interaction of parents of 3-year-olds. Methods: We surveyed questionnaires for 36 parents and interviewed 3 parents of 3-year-olds for the development of the program. Twenty-one 3-year-olds were selected as participants in the program. Quantitative data from a checklist for parent's mathematical interaction were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA. Qualitative data from self-evaluation of teachers and parents were categorized and analyzed in terms of meaning. Results: Based on the home connection program, the session were provided in the following order [educare center activities ${\rightarrow}$ home-linked activities ${\rightarrow}$ home+educare integrated activities] and in each session, the three-step course [sharing of thinking ${\rightarrow}$ gathering of thinking ${\rightarrow}$ broadening of thinking] was applied. Implementation of this program led to promoting parental mathematical interaction. Conclusion/Implications: This study will lead to follow-up studies that reveal positive effects of our program.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in perceived importance of mathematical education (perceived importance) and mathematical interaction of 5-year-olds' mothers according to contents of mathematical education. Second, we intended to examine whether mothers' understanding of purpose of mathematical education predicted on their perceived importance and mathematical interaction. Third, we analyzed relative influence between mothers' perceived effectiveness of concrete materials and worksheets on their perceived importance and mathematical interaction. The subjects consisted of 151 mothers of 5-year-olds lived in D city and K province in Korea. The results were as follows: First, mothers' perceived importance and mathematical interaction were higher in 'number and arithmetic'. Second, mothers' understanding of purpose of mathematical education predicted their perceived importance in all contents and mathematical interaction in 'number and arithmetic', 'geometry', and 'algebra'. Third, mothers' perceived effectiveness of concrete materials predicted better in most contents of mathematical education. Meanwhile, in 'number and operation', mothers' perceived effectiveness of worksheets did a predictive role in their importance awareness. These results were discussed in terms of necessity of a parent education program to provide practical information about contents and methods of mathematical education for their 5-year-old children.
Teaching and learning mathematics in a classroom setting is based on the interactions between the teacher and her students. Using classroom observations and interviews of students and the teacher, this research examines a first-year teacher and her students' interactions in the mathematics classroom. In this mathematics classroom, teacher and students interaction had inconsistency between mathematical topics and non-mathematical topics. For non-mathematical topics, their interactions were very active but for mathematical topics their interactions were very limited. This paper ends with raising questions for future research and calling for the opportunities for first-year teachers to reflect on their interactions with their students, in particular about mathematical topics.
