초등학교 3학년 학생의 기초수학 능력과 읽기 능력의 상관 분석 (An analysis of the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability of the elementary 3rd graders)

  • The purpose of this study is to extract some suggestions in developing the elementary students' abilities to solve the fundamental mathematical problems by analyzing the degree of the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability of the elementary 3th graders. In order to achieve this goal, this article analyzed the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability on the basis of the studying result about the diagnostic evaluation conducted on 20,556 elementary 3th graders by the KICE as a national level basic scholastic achievement evaluation. The coefficient of correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability was .621. As such, it shows that the reading capability plays an important role in solving the fundamental mathematical problems. Particularly, the coefficient of correlation between the corollary arguments and the problem solving ability and the reading capability was the highest among the sub-capabilities of fundamental mathematical capability. In addition, judging from the result that the coefficient of correlation between the practical understanding capability and the solving capability of the fundamental mathematical problems was .528, it informs that the practical understanding capability takes an' important part in developing the fundamental mathematical capability of the elementary students. The results of this study support the hypothesis that the understanding capability plays the very important role in solving the fundamental mathematical problems. In particular, the results suggest that it is necessary that the pupils should be simultaneously supported not only by the capability of the mathematical basis, but also by the reading capability, especially the practical understanding capability about the problems, in order to develop the capability to solve the fundamental mathematical problems.

전문대학생의 NCS기초능력군과 진로준비행동과의 관계에 관한 연구 : 의사소통능력과 수리능력을 중심으로 (A Study on the Relationships between College Students' NCS Basic Capability Group and Career Preparation Behavior : Focused on Communication Capability and Mathematical Capability)

  • The importance of the NCS(National Competitiveness Standards) is growing as the job market shrinks and more institutions require hiring based on NCS. Of the ten domains of NCS', the most relevant one with the performance of all tasks is basic capability group. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of college students' basic capability group(communication capability, mathematical capability) on their career preparation behavior. In this study, we set up a process model to comprehend the effect of college students' basic capability group on career preparation behavior based on social cognitive career theory. For research model testing, 561 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis through structural equations modeling. Empirical analysis showed that communication capability positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. But, mathematical capability don't influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. Next, career self-efficacy and career outcome expectation each positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. Also, interest in the major positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. The academic implications are as follows: Career self-efficacy and interest in the major were important factors in the communication capability. The process of communication capability affecting career preparation behavior and interest in the major was explained through social cognitive career theory and self-efficacy. The practical implications are as follows: Administrative assistance should be provided to improve the career self-efficacy of college students.

An Investigation of the Visual-Mental Capability of Pre- and In-Service Mathematics Teachers: A Tale of Two Cones and One Cube

  • This study investigated the visual-mental capability of pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers as well as academicians making a career change to mathematics teachers with regard to manipulations of two geometric shapes (from 2- to 3-dimensional). Moreover, it investigated whether there are differences between the visual-mental capability of these participant groups. Findings illustrate that most of the participants demonstrate an adequate visual capability relating to the task dealing with a cube. Conversely, very low percentage of participants manifested a visual-mental capability in a task requiring the identification of a solid resulting from rotation of a square page, whose diagonal serves as the rotation axis. The study indicates that learners' high visual view should be developed in order to enhance their visual-mental capability.

  • A mathematical model has been developed to evaluate the capability of sea water exchanges under tidal and diffusive environments and has been verified through comparison with numerical experiments. From the mathematical analysis, this study presents the rates of sea water exchanges due to the tidal inflow and diffusion process. The port characteristic length $L_p$ is the most significant evaluation index.

  • In this paper, we investigate the possibility of $2{\pi}$-periodic continuous function approximation by periodic neural networks. Using the Riemann sum and the quadrature formula, we show the capability of a periodic neural network approximation.

Using Mathematician's Creativity Methods in Mathematics Education

  • Students not only learn mathematics knowledge, but also have the capability of mathematical creativity. The latter has been thought an important task in mathematics education by more and more mathematicians and mathematics educators. In this paper, mathematicians' methods of creating mathematics are presented. Then, the paper elaborates on how these methods can be utilized to enhance mathematical creativity in the schools.

  • 최근 각국은 복잡하고 변화가 많은 안보 환경 하에서 국방 예산의 효율성과 작전의 효과성을 극대화하기 위해 능력기반 전력 건설 및 운용에 집중하고 있다. EA는 엔터프라이즈 범위의 구성요소를 정의하고 그들 간의 관계를 제시함으로서, 엔터프라이즈 범위의 관점을 통합하고, 변화와 복잡도등을 관리한다. 따라서 전장의 변화와 복잡도 관리를 위해서 EA를 구축하고, 국방 예산의 효율성과 작전 효과성을 증대를 위해서 능력중심의 우선순위 결정 및 자원의 대안수립이 중요하다. EA 사상아래 조직, 업무(작전), 기능, 통합능력, 체계, 자원, 전략 등 주요 엔터프라이즈 구성요소들을 통합능력을 중심으로 프레임워크내에 정의하여 복잡한 그들간의 연관관계를 함께 산출물로 제시하므로서 구성요소간의 정렬, 통합 및 상호운용성이 가능하게 하고, 현재의 전력운용 관점과 미래의 전력개발 관점을 동시에 포함하여 전환계획이 가능한 RTM기반 EA2I프레임워크를 이미 개념적 수준으로 제안한바 있다. 그러나 통합능력을 중심으로 보다 정량적이고 적용 가능하도록 EA2I프레임워크의 구성요소와 구성요소간의 관계, 특히 능력 및 능력우선순위 방법론을 구체적인 수학적 모델로 제시하여 보다 정량적이고 적용 가능하게 하였다.

  • [ $T_EX$ ] is a typesetting system created by Donald E. Knuth for producing publication-quality scientific books and journals. It is famous for the line breaking algorithm, the formatting of complex mathematical formula, and the powerful macro programming capability. Recently $T_EX$ plays a new role of an automatic typesetting engine. The paper describes $T_EX$ in the framework of typography by comparing with DTP softwares and word processors.

  • 본 연구는 교사의 수업 성찰이 담론 역량 변화에 작용하는 양상을 분석하여 교사 수업 전문성 개발에의 시사점을 얻는 데 목표를 두었다. 이에 중학교 수학 교사가 실제 수업을 실행한 다음, 연구자와의 협의회를 통해 수업을 성찰하는 과정에서 학생의 참여를 촉진하는 담론 역량이 어떻게 변화하는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서 교사는 수업 실행과 성찰을 통해, 수업 중 학생의 발표와 반응을 다루는 2가지 국면에서 자신의 담론 역량에 문제가 있음을 인식하였으며, 이를 개선하기 위한 시도를 수업에서 실행하고 재성찰하는 과정을 반복함으로써 담론 생산성과 개방성을 높여 학생의 참여를 촉진하는 변화를 보였다. 이상의 연구 결과는 교사의 수업 성찰이 담론 역량 개발과 관련되는 수업 전문성 신장에 기여함을 보여준다.
