The purpose of this study was to examine the life satisfaction of adolescents in the ecological contexts of their individual, family, school, and social-cultural experiences. The participants were 1,099 middle and high school students in Chungnam-do. Instruments were the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory, the School Life Satisfaction Scale, and Social-Cultural Satisfaction Scale. Data analysis involved the use of descriptive statistics, t- and F-tests, Duncan's multiple range test, product-moment correlations, multiple regression, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, and factor analysis. Results were as follows: Firstly, middle school students showed the highest levels of life satisfaction, and vocational high school students reported the lowest levels. Also, life satisfaction was inversely related to school grades. Secondly, for all the students, life satisfaction was positive correlated with self-esteem, open communication with parents, school life satisfaction, and social-cultural satisfaction. Lastly, open communication with parents and overall satisfaction with life at school explained more of the variance in adolescent life satisfaction than any other factors.
The primary purpose of this study was to employ an ecological model to analyze relative magnitudes of significant predictors affecting school life satisfaction in Korea Science Academy. The instruments used for this study were school life satisfaction Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, Relationship Skill Scale, Internal Control Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale, and FACE IV Scale. Data were collected by purposive sampling of 180 students of the Korea Science Academy in Busan, Korea. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, Pearson's productive correlation, hierarchical regression and stepwise regression, using SPSS 15.0+WIN program package. The results were as follows: 1. The level of school life satisfaction in Korea Science Academy was found to be high(Mean = 4.24, SD = 0.57). 2. Model IV was the most powerful. It explained 49.7% of the school life satisfaction. 3. Relationship with friends(${\beta}$ = .443), with teachers(${\beta}$ = .273), and self-efficacy(${\beta}$ = .201) were significant factors in explaining the school life satisfaction. The three variables explained 49.9% of school life satisfaction.
Purpose: The present study was conducted to identify the relations between self-esteem. self-care and life satisfaction in the home-dwelling elderly. Methods: The subjects were 106 persons aged over 65 in J city. Data were collected from April to June 2005 by a questionnaire survey. The instruments used in this study are the self-esteem scale developed by Rosenberg(1965), the self-care scale by Hwang (2000) and the life-satisfaction scale by Choi (1986). Data were analyzed through t-test, ANOVA. least significant difference, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis using SPSS-Win 10.0. Results: Self-esteem and self-care were in a positive correlation with each other (r=.464, p=.000). Self-care and life-satisfaction showed a significant correlation with each other (r=.222 p=.031), and a significant correlation was found between self-esteem and life-satisfaction (r=.506, p=.000). The most significant predictors influencing life-satisfaction were self-esteem, self-care and perceived health condition, and the three factors accounted for 47.7% of variance in life satisfaction in the home-dwelling elderly. Conclusion: These results suggest that self-esteem, self-care and life-satisfaction can be important factors the quality of life of the elderly in long-term care. Therefore nurses can plan nursing interventions to promote self-esteem, self-care and life satisfaction of the home-dwelling elderly.
Purpose. The number of elders in institutions has increased as family supporting systems have changed in Korea. The purpose of this study were to understand the life satisfaction among elders in institutions and to identify the factors influencing on life satisfaction. Methods. The instruments used were Yun(1982)'s scale modified Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale for Happiness(MUNSH) in life satisfaction, ADL and IADL in activity level, Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS) in depression and Norbeck Social Support Questionnaire(NSSQ) scale in social support. Also, Perceived health status was measured by Visual Graphic Rating Scale. The subject of this study is 107 cognitively intact and ambulatory elders in 7 institutions in Daegu city and Kyungpook province. The data have been collected from May 1 to June 30, 2001. For the analysis of collected data, frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used for statistical analysis by SPSS win(version 9.0) program. Results. Life satisfaction for the elders in institutions showed negative correlation with SDS, and positive correlation with activity level. The regression form of the stepwise multiple regression analysis to investigate the influencing factors of life satisfaction for the elders in institutions was expressed by y =90.988-0. 733x1-0.188x2-0.069x3-0.565x4 (xl: SDS x2: Social support x3: Activity level x4: Monthly pocket Money) and 57.9% of varience in life satisfaction was explained by the model. Conclusion. The factors influencing on life satisfaction among the elders in institutions were SDS, social support, activity level and monthly pocket money. According to the results of this study, depression, social support and activity level are considered the prime causal factors for life satisfaction.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to the relationship between life satisfaction, health behaviors, and successful aging and factors associated with successful aging. Methods: Participants in this study included 159 elders living in one city. Data on life satisfaction (Choi's Life Satisfaction Scale for Korean elderly, 1984), health behaviors (Choi & Kim's Health Behaviors Scale for Korean elderly, 1997), and successful aging (Kim & Shin's Successful Aging Scale for Korean elderly, 2005) were collected by trained interviewers. For analysis of collected data, the PASW 18.0 program was used, which included descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Multiple regression. Results: Results showed a positive correlation between life satisfaction, health behaviors, and successful aging. Life satisfaction, self-perceived health status, and health behavior explained 60.8% of successful aging. Conclusion: There is a need to help improve health behavior and self-perceived health status of elders. We should also understand life satisfaction over their life span and establish a program that encourages healthy behavior in the community. Accordingly, these efforts will allow for achievement of a more successful aging process for the elderly.

This study develops a scale for consumer clothing satisfaction based on Lee et al. 's (2002) five stages of the consumer life cycle (acquisition, possession, consumption, maintenance, and disposal). Data were gathered by surveying college students using convenience sampling, and 419 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing the data, an exploratory factor analysis and a confirmatory factor analysis using a structural equation modeling were conducted. The proposed scale, which identified various sources of satisfaction and dissatisfaction associated with the 5 consumption cycles of clothing, suggests some guidelines for marketers in enhancing consumer clothing satisfaction across consumption stages. The model test for the scale also identified that consumption satisfaction had the greatest effect on consumer clothing satisfaction showing the strongest loading and squared multiple correlation.
Objective : This study investigated the effects of time-use intervention, conducted during 8 weeks, on the life satisfaction and self-esteem of stroke patients. Methods : Twenty-one stroke patients who were divided into an experimental group (n=10) and a control group (n=11), participated in this study from July 2019 to October 2019. Life satisfaction changes were measured using the Life satisfaction scale. Self-esteem changes were measured using the Self-esteem scale. Results : First, comparison between pre and post intervention showed a statistically significant difference in life satisfaction and self-esteem (p<.05). Second, comparison between post intervention groups showed a statistically significant difference in life satisfaction and self-esteem (p<.05). Conclusion : Based on the results from this study, we found that time-use intervention has a positive impact on life satisfaction and self-esteem. Therefore, participating in meaningful occupation performance will improve the mental health and quality of life of stroke patients.
This study assessed the manner in which social activities, religious experiences, and spiritual practices related to depression and life satisfaction among 217 Korean elderly individuals, aged 65 to 80. The Social Activities Scale and Brief Multidimensional Measure of Religiosity/Spirituality were employed to assess social activities and six domains of religiosity/spirituality: daily spiritual experiences, values, forgiveness, private religious practice, religious/spiritual coping, and religious support. In addition, depression was assessed with the Geriatric Depression Scale, and life satisfaction with the Satisfaction with Life Scale. After controlling for demographic variables, lower depression scores were predicted by higher levels of religious and spiritual coping, social activities, higher income, and ower daily spiritual experiences. In addition, identifying as female, advanced old age, and lower social activities predicted lower life satisfaction in this study. The implications of this study's findings on social work practice are also discussed, along with some future research directions.

This study examines health and life satisfaction of the married female production workers(Mfpw). The data of 370 Mfpw in manufacturing sector in Taegu are collected by using questionares in August, 1995. Health scale measured by Todai Health Index is composed physical health and mental health. There are three satifsfaction areas-individual life satisfaction, family life satisfaction, and job satisfaction-in the overall life satisfaction scale. The findings of this study are as follows: 1) Mfpw’s total health conditions are poor. Especially physical health is worse than mental health. Physical health is influenced by age and purpose of attaining job, while mental health is influenced by purpose of attaining job. Mfpw who get the job for family financial needs have poor physical and mental health. 2) The overall life satisfaction level of Mfpw is lower than middle point : their family life satisfaction level is the heigest and their individual life satisfaction level is the lowest. Family income, purpose of attaining job and work place environment have effect on the level of overall life satisfaction. Mfpw who have the higher family income, get the job by non-economic motivations and work in good work place environment show the higher life satisfaction level.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the factors influencing quality of life and difference of quality of life in a postmenopausal group compared to premenopausal women. Method: The subjects consisted of 213 women from 40 to 64 years old. The data were collected from June 1, 2003 to June 31, 2004 using structured questionnaires which included questions relating to demographic and obstetric background and 4 scales(climacteric symptoms scale, marital satisfaction scale, sex-role attitude scale, quality of life scale). Result: Comparing pre- and postmenopausal women, significant statistical differences were demonstrated in climacteric symptoms and sex-role attitude. However, quality of life was not different between pre- and postmenopausal women. In premenopausal women, marital satisfaction($32.7\%$) and educational level($8.0\%$) were significant predictors to explain quality of life. Marital satisfaction($12.9\%$) was significant predictor to explain quality of life in postmenopausal women. Conclusion: No difference of quality in life between pre- and postmenopausal women provides information for changing traditional approaches of menopause according to physiological changes as illness. In addition the study showed that it is necessary to use marital satisfaction information when developing nursing interventions to promote the quality of life.
