CFRP chip is the byproduct from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) processing. CFRP chip is not simply a waste mainly composed of fine carbon fiber and epoxy resin. CFRP chip keeps matrix to maximize their reinforcing effect. To obtain a uniform length of carbon fiber in CFRP chip, chip was chopped ina mortar. CFRP chip should be purified to get better interface adhesion. Epoxy resin on the carbon fiber was removed by $H_2O_2$ surface etching treatment. Optimal dispersion and fabrication conditions of CFRP chip embedded in phenolic resin were determined by thermal stability for fire retardant applications. CFRP chip-phenolic composite exhibits better mechanical and thermal properties than neat phenolic resin. Surface condition of CFRP chip-phenolic composite was evaluated by static contact angle measurement. Contact angle of CFRP chip-phenolic composite was greater than neat phenolic due to heterogeneous condition of fine carbon fibers. From the evaluation for fire retardant (ASTM D635-06) test, thermal stability of CFRP chip-phenolic composite was found to be improved with higher concentration of CFRP chip.
In this study we calculate discharge by slope-area method using continuously observed water level data and analyse the results. This study is performed in the Dalcheon river reach of 960 m length including riffles and a pool, which is located downstream of the Goesan Dam. Three values of roughness coefficient are applied to discharge calculation, which are established using bed material size analysis. Another roughness coefficient value obtained from the river improvement plan is also used. Calculated discharges by slope-area method are compared with dam discharges. Relative difference from dam discharges appears to be largely affected by roughness values and a value of 0.042 or more seems most suitable for the entire study reach. Smaller roughness value is suitable to the reach which has gentler water surface slope than mean channel slope of the entire study reach, while a larger value to steeper reach. In case roughness value is set considering overall slope of the channel, it is desirable to select the entire calculation reach including both gentler and steeper sub-reaches. Since relative difference becomes nearly constant at over 500 cms, in case that verification of applied roughness is conducted with other directly measured discharge, accuracy of measurement by slope-area method for larger discharge may be improved.

In this study, the Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM) was investigated to utilize the bottom ash and fly ash generated in the Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustor (CFBC). It was confirmed that the CFBC fly ash (CFBC-F) and CFBC bottom ash (CFBC-B) had an irregular particle shape through SEM measurement. According to the results of the hazard analysis, it was also confirmed that they were environmentally safe. In the case of mixing with CFBC-F, the unit quantity was increased. Regarding the rate of change of length, shrinkage in the range of -0.05~0.50% occurred in the air dry curing condition and expansion in the range of 0.1~0.6% in the sealed curing condition. Compressive strength was increased in the sealed curing condition compared to the air dry curing condition because there was enough moisture for hydration reaction in the long term. Therefore, the results of this study are likely be used as basic research data of mine filler materials.

In this paper, the implementation and embedding method of the existing air-filled waveguide-filters at millimeter-wave on general PCB substrate is introduced by systematically inserting the vias inside waveguide and mathematically manipulating the simple equations obtained ken the classical circular-post waveguide filter design. All the metal structures placed vertically such as side wall fur perfect ground plane and circular-post for signal control in the air-filled WR-22 waveguide are replaced with several types of via for constructing the bandpass-filter. Side wall and poles inside waveguide are realized by placing a series array of via and tuning the via diameter. The lengths of x, y, z axis are reduced in proportion to root square of employed substrate dielectric constant and especially the length of z axis can be more reduced due to the characteristics of the wave propagation. Because the mass production on PCB is possible without fabricating a large-scaled metal waveguide of WR-22 as input/output ports at millimeter-wave regime, the manufacturing cost is reduced considerably. Finally, when using multilayer process like LTCC for small-sized module, it is one of advantages to use only one layer f3r the filter fabrication. To evaluate the validity of this novel technique, order-3 Chebyshev BPF(Bandpass-Filter) centered at 40 GHz-band with a 2.5 % FBW (Fractional Bandwidth) were used. The employed substrate has relative dielectric constant of 2.2 and thickness of 10 mil of Rogers RT/Duroid 5880. Accroding to design and measurement results, a good performance of insertion loss of 2 ㏈ and return loss of -30 ㏈ is achieved at full input/output ports.

In present, the Seoul City is undergoing traffic congestion problems caused by rapid urbanization and population growth. Thus the City government has reorganized the mass transportation system since 2004 and the subway has become a very important means for public transit. Since the subway system is typically a closed environment, the indoor air quality issues have often raised by the public. Especially since a huge amount of PM (particulate matter) is emitted from ground tunnels passing through the subway train, it is now necessary to assess the characteristics and behaviors of fine PM inside the tunnel. In this study, the concentration patterns of $PM_1$, $PM_{2.5}$, and $PM_{10}$ in the Seoul subway line-2 were analyzed by real-time measurement during winter (Jan 13, 2015) and summer (Aug 7, 2015). The line-2 consisting of 51 stations is the most busy circular line in Seoul having the railway of 60.2 km length. The the one-day average $PM_{10}$ concentrations were $148{\mu}g/m^3$ in winter and $66.3{\mu}g/m^3$ in summer and $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations were $118{\mu}g/m^3$ and $58.5{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The $PM_{2.5}/PM_{10}$ ratio in the underground tunnel was lower than the outdoor ratio and also the ratio in summer is higher than in winter. Further the study examined structural types of underground subsections to explain the patterns of elevated PM concentrations in the line-2. The subsections showing high PM concentration have longer track, shorter curvature radius, and farther from the outdoor stations. We also estimated the outdoor PM concentrations near each station by a spatial statistical analysis using the $PM_{10}$ data obtained from the 40 Seoul Monitoring Sites, and further we calculated $PM_{2.5}/PM_{10}$ and $PM_1/PM_{10}$ mass ratios near the outdoor subway stations by using our observed outdoor $PM_1$, $PM_{2.5}$, and $PM_{10}$ data. Finally, we could develop pollution maps for outdoor $PM_1$ and $PM_{2.5}$ near the line-2 by using the kriging method in spatial analysis. This methodology may help to utilize existing $PM_{10}$ database when managing and control fine particle problems in Korea.
Accurate correction of surface effect from back scattered solar radiance is one of key issue to retrieve aerosol information from satellite measurements. In this study, two different methods are applied to retrieve surface reflectance by using single visible channel measurement from meteorological imager onboard COMS. The first one is minimum reflectance method, which composes the minimum value among previously measured reflectances at each pixel over a certain search window length. This method assumes that the darkest pixel corresponds to the aerosol-free condition, and deduces surface reflectance by correcting atmospheric scattering from the measured visible reflectance. The second method, named as the "atmospheric correction method" in this study, estimates the result by correcting aerosol and atmospheric scattering with ground-based observation of aerosol optical properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the retrieval accuracy of the widelyused minimum reflectance method. Also, the retrieval error caused by the loading of background aerosol is mainly estimated. The comparison between surface reflectances retrieved from the two methods shows good agreement with the correlation coefficient of 0.87. However, the results from the minimum reflectance method are slightly overestimated than the values from the atmospheric correction method when surface reflectance is lower than 0.2. The average difference between the two results is 0.012 without the background aerosol correction. By considering the background aerosol effect, however, the difference is reduced to 0.010.
With expanded and extended coverage of the national medical insurance and fast growing health care expenditures, appropriateness of health service utilization and quality of care are concerns of both health care providers and insurers as well as patients. An accurate patient classification system is a basic tool for effective health care policies and efficient health services management. A classification system applicable to Korean medical information-Korean Diagnosis Related Groups (K-DRGs)-was developed based on the U.S. Refined DRGs, and the performance of the developed system was assessed in this study. In the process of the development, first the Korean coding systems for diagnoses and procedures were converted to the systems used in the definition of the U.S. Refined DRGs using the mapping tables formulated by physician panels. Then physician panels reviewed the group definition, and identified medical practice patterns different in two countries. The definition was modified for the differences in K-DRGs. The process resulted in 1,199 groups in the system. Several groups in Refined DRGs could not be differentiated in K-DRGs due to insufficient medical information, and several groups could not be defined due to procedures which were not practiced in Korea. However, the classification structure of Refined DRGs was retained in K-DRGs. The developed system was evaluated fur its performance in explaining variations in resource use as measured by charges and length of stay(LOS), for both all and non-extreme discharges. The data base used in this evaluation included 373,322 discharges which was a random sample of discharges reviewed and payed by the medical insurance during the five-month period from September 1990. The proportion of variance in resource use which was reduced by classifying patients into K-DRGs-r-square-was comparable to the performance of the U.S. Refined DRGs: .39 for charges and .25 for LOS for all discharges, and .53 for charges and .31 for LOS for non-extreme discharges. Another measure analyzed to assess the performance was the coefficient of variation of charges within individual K-DRGs. A total of 966 K-DRGs (87.7%) showed a coefficient below 100%, and the highest coefficient among K-DRGs with more than 30 discharges was 159%.

We have obtained a topographical image nondestructively for a Cu thin film in liquid using a near-field scanning microwave microscope (NSMM), its operating frequency was 3.5 to 5.5 GHz. We have kept a distance of 10 nm between tip and sample using a quartz tuning fork shear force feedback system. As an end of tip was attached to one prong of the quartz tuning fork has a length of 2 mm, the only tip of tuning fork was immersed in water tank. A loss cause by evaporation in water tank is regulated with actuator was connected to a supplementary tank. Moreover, using a revise program of LabView, we could increase the accuracy of a measurement in liquid.
This study evaluated the influence of light quality and intensity during healing and acclimatization on the $CO_2$ exchange rate, growth, and morphogenesis of grafted pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) transplants, using a system for the continuous measurement of the $CO_2$ exchange rate. C. annuum L. 'Nokkwang' and 'Tantan' were used as scions and rootstocks, respectively. Before grafting, the transplants were grown for four weeks in a growth chamber with artificial light, where the temperature was set at $25/18^{\circ}C$ (light/dark period) and the light period was 14 hours $d^{-1}$. The grafted pepper transplants were then healed and acclimatized under different light quality conditions using fluorescent lamps (control) and red, blue, and red + blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs). All the transplants were irradiated for 12 hours per day, for six days, at a photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) of 50, 100, or 180 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. The higher PPF levels increased the $CO_2$ exchange rate during the healing and acclimatization. A smaller increase in the $CO_2$ exchange rates was observed in the transplants under red LEDs. At a PPF of 180 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, the $CO_2$ exchange rate of the transplants irradiated with red LEDs was lowest and it was 37% lower than those irradiated with fluorescent lamps. The $CO_2$ exchange rates of transplants irradiated with blue LEDs was the highest and 20% higher than those irradiated under fluorescent lamps. The graft take was not affected by the light quality. The grafted pepper transplants irradiated with red LEDs had a lower SPAD value, leaf dry weight, and dry matter content. The transplants irradiated with blue LEDs had longer shoot length and heavier stem fresh weight than those irradiated with the other treatments. Leaves irradiated with the red LED had the smallest leaf area and showed leaf epinasty. In addition, the palisade and spongy cells of the pepper leaves were dysplastic and exhibited hyperplasia. Grafted pepper transplants treated with red + blue LEDs showed similar growth and morphology to those transplants irradiated with fluorescent lamps. These results suggest that high-quality grafted pepper transplants can be obtained by healing and acclimatization under a combination of blue and red lights at a high PPF level.
This study describes the development of a long-distance hose for ultra-high pressure operation, which can be used in conjunction with an ultra-high pressure pump and can be effectively applied to the fire suppression of high-rise buildings and a long, large tunnels. Also, it has phosphorescent properties, which can help to secure the withdrawal route of the fire-fighters when they are threatened by the fire. We developed an ultra-high pressure hose aiming at a pressure of 3 MPa and a flow rate of 2000 lpm and developed an ultra-high pressure fire hose that can withstand this very high pressure by using a double jacket, triple polyurethane coating and warf (Wp) of 52. In order to ensure the performance of the developed ultra-high pressure hose, its structure, appearance, leakage at high pressure, length and elongation were inspected by a certified certification agency, who also subjected it to a peeling test, friction test, breaking pressure test and free fall test. Also, it was studied in addition to the luminescent high-pressure hose for fire-fighting. In the phosphorescence test, the luminance measurement value was more than the reference value of the luminance test after 40 minutes, which confirmed that its performance was satisfactory for fire-fighting products. In the future, if such an ultra-high pressure fire hose were commercialized and applied in the field, it could contribute to securing improved fire suppression and safer exit from fires, as compared to the fire hoses currently used in the suppression of fires in skyscraper buildings and long tunnels.
