This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the bleeding times(30sec., 90sec., 150sec.) at slaughtering process on meat quality and storage properties of broiler. The redness$(a^{\ast}\;value)$ of skin, wing, leg muscle decreased at high bleeding time(150sec.). However, there was no significant difference in breast muscle. WHC(water holding capacity) of breast muscle decreased from $63.64\%$ at low bleeding time(30sec.) to $61.06\%$ at high bleeding time. TBARS(thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance) values were 0.18 mgMA/kg at the low bleeding time, 0.16 mgMA/kg at the middle bleeding time(90sec.) and 0.21mgMA/kg high bleeding time on 3 days of storage. Total aerobic plate counts(TPC) were $6.25logCFU/cm^2$ at the low bleeding time, $6.25logCFU/cm^2$ at the middle bleeding time and $6.53logCFU/cm^2$ at the high bleeding time. The TPC was increased as the bleeding time increased. In conclusion, meat color of chicken were acceptable when the carcasses were slaughtered at the high bleeding time.

The aim of this research is to evaluate the effects of cooking time and storage temperature on the quality of home-made retort pouch packed Chuncheon Dakgalbi. The leg meat of broiler is being cut into cubes and is mixed with the Dakgalbi sauce and vegetables. Around 200 g of Chuncheon Dakgalbi is being stuffed into a retort pouch and then vacuumed. The retort pouch packed Chuncheon Dakgalbi is subjected to cooking (autoclaving) at $110^{\circ}C$ and 0.75 Kgf for 10, 20 or 30 min and then transferred to the chilling room at $2^{\circ}C$ for rapid cooling procedures. Subsequently, the samples are stored at $4^{\circ}C$ or $25^{\circ}C$ for 4 wk. According to results of sensory evaluation, the highest sensory scores were found in Chuncheon Dakgalbi which was cooked for 30 min (p<0.05). Prolonged cooking time tends to decrease the pH, CIE $L^*$ and CIE $a^*$ levels, and slightly promote the lipid oxidation and protein deterioration. The Chuncheon Dakgalbi being cooked for 10 min promoted the lipid oxidation and protein deterioration during storage at $25^{\circ}C$. Moreover, the total aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in Chuncheon Dakgalbi being cooked for 10 min started to grow after 3 wk of storage at $25^{\circ}C$. Cooking (autoclaving) at $110^{\circ}C$ for 30 min is able to maintain the quality and shelf-life of retort pouch packed Chuncheon Dakgalbion the market.

This study aimed to identify the asymmetry observed in the electromyography (EMG) activity patterns of selected trunk and thigh muscles between the affected and unaffected sides during the sit-to-stand movement in ambulatory patients with post-stroke hemiparesis. This study included 20 patients with post-stroke hemiparesis. The differences between stroke fast walkers (${\geq}8m/s$, 11 subjects) and stroke slow walkers (<8 m/s, 9 subjects) were compared. The activation magnitude and onset time of the multifidus, lumbar erector spinae, hamstrings, and quadriceps during the sit-to-stand movement were recorded through surface EMG. Moreover, the EMG activation magnitude and onset time ratios of each bilateral corresponding muscle from the trunk and leg were measured by dividing the relevant values of the unaffected side by those of the affected side. In all the subjects, the activation magnitudes of the multifidus, hamstring, and quadriceps on the affected side significantly decreased compared to those on the unaffected side (p<.05). The onset time of muscle activity in the affected side was markedly delayed for the multifidus and quadriceps during the task (p<.05). The activation magnitude ratios of the quadriceps were markedly decreased in the stroke slow walkers as compared to those in the stroke fast walkers. These findings indicate that the asymmetry in the multifidus, hamstring, and quadriceps muscle activation patterns in patients with post-stroke hemiparesis may be due to the excessive muscle activation in the unaffected side to compensate for the weakened muscle activity in the affected side. Our findings may provide researchers and clinicians with information that can be useful in rehabilitation therapy.
Thirty two Omani sheep with eight animals each of; intact males (INT), males castrated with rubber rings immediately after birth (RR), males castrated with a burdizzo at 8 weeks of age (BC) and intact females (IF) were fed ad libitum a concentrate diet (CP 16%) plus chopped Rhodesgrass hay (8% CP) from weaning until slaughter at 28 kg. INT lambs grew faster from 9 to 20 weeks of age (p < 0.05) thus they were significantly heavier at 20 weeks of age than BC and IF, but not RR lambs. INT consumed more total feed than other sex groups over the period from 9 to 20 weeks of age. There were no significant differences between lambs of all experimental groups in feed per gain ratio. INT lambs had lower (p < 0.01) dressing percentage (DP) than RR, BC and IF. As a percentage in the empty body weight (EBW), INT had higher proportions of head, feet, empty gut (p < 0.001), liver (p < 0.05) and genitals (p < 0.05) but lower proportions of lungs and trachea (p < 0.05) than BC and IF lambs. INT males had a significantly higher (p < 0.05) proportion of bone than RR and IF lambs but lower (p < 0.05) proportion of fat than RR and IF. As a percentage in EBW, IF had the highest protortion (p < 0.001) of total body fat (TBF) followed by BC and RR whereas INT males had the lowest proportion. There was a general trend of IF having the highest proportion of individual and total non-carcass fat (TNCF) and total carcass fat (TCF) followed by BC and RR lambs whereas INT lambs had the lowest protortions of individual carcass and non-carcass fat depots. There were only few sex or castration effects on carcass tissue distribution. IF had higher proportions of intermuscular fat in the chuck, plate, leg and flank than INT and BC. The current study demonstrated that castration of intensively-raised male Omani native sheep especially at weaning using a burdizzo retarded growth rate and reduced carcass quality by increasing fat content.

Humanoid robot is the most suitable robot platform for effective human interaction and various intelligent services. The present work addresses development of real time wireless control application of humanoid robot's forward and backward walks, and turning in walking. For convenience of human users, the application is developed on Android OS (Operating System) working on his or her smartphone. To this end, theoretic background on various-directional biped walking is proposed based on joint trajectories for forward walking, which have been shaped with a global optimization method. In this paper, backward walking is scheduled by interchange of angles and angular velocities and additional change of signs in angular velocities at all the via-points connecting cubic polynomial trajectories. Turning direction in walking is also implemented by activating the transversal hip joint initially located in the support leg in two stages. After validation of the proposed walking schemes with Matlab simulator, a smartphone application for the omnidirectional walking has been developed to control a humanoid robot platform named DARwIn-OP interconnected via Wi-Fi. Experiment result of the present wireless control of a humanoid robot with smartphone is successful, and the application will be released in application market near future.
Considering the fact that the fit for men's clothes is important for the sizing system modern ready-made pants, an analysis of obese middle-aged men is required at this period of time to determine the appropriate fit for obese men. The following research focused on 635 middle-aged obese men who had a BMI index of at least 25 and a waist circumference from the belly-button level of 34 inches or more. This research deals with the articles of circumference, thickness and other major physical changes that happen during the 30s, 40s, and 50s. According to the analysis of these body measurement articles with specific regard to age, men's height and the height of their waist seemed to decrease as their age increased. This demonstrates that as these men grow older, the waist and stomach slowly curved into a circular and flat body type due to their obesity. In this study, the first factor figure was the height and leg length. The second factor figure was the waist form. The third factor figure was the center thigh circumference. The fourth and fifth factor figures were the hip length and shape. Lastly, the sixth factor figure was the calf circumference. These 6 factor figures construct 80.57% of the volume explanation and showed 3 patterns through a cluster analysis that showed different patterns of obesity forms for waist circumferences in key figure 1, waist and thigh circumferences in key figure 2, and waist and buttocks circumferences. Therefore, it was worthwhile to consider the circumferences of the waist, buttocks and thigh according to the body type category to enhance the drafting of well-fitting pants.

PURPOSE: Gait disturbances in patients with hemiplegic stroke involve asymmetry of stance time. Step box training is used to supplement the limitations of stair walking training and increasing the torque value of the paralyzed lower leg's strength. This study aimed to investigate whether step-up training on unstable support could change walking ability in patients with chronic stroke. METHODS: Thirty stroke patients were randomly assigned to the step-up training group (experimental group), that performed training on an unstable surface, and the control group, that performed training on a stable surface. Walking speed, step length, and cadence were measured before and after training. Paired t-tests were used to compare pre- and post-intervention data, while the independent samples t-test was used to determine intergroup differences. Values of p < .05 were considered statistically significant. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in walking ability before versus after the intervention in both groups, although the experimental group showed greater differences than the control group (walking velocity by 8.1%; step length of the non-paralyzed side by 6.9%, respectively; p<.05). CONCLUSION: Step-up training might be more effective on an unstable surface than on a stable surface for increasing walking speed and step length of the non-paralyzed side.
Purpose: This study was done to determine whether muscle strength training programs have an impact on improving symptoms of urinary incontinence (UI) and physical function among elderly women with UI who reside in long-term care facilities. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted. Participants had to be over 65 years, score over 15 score on the mini-mental state examination, and be able to walk alone or with an assistant. Seventy residents were randomly allocated to either the training group (n=35) or control group (n=35). The program consisted of 50 minutes, twice a week for 8 weeks, and included Kegel's exercise, Thera-band training and indoor walking. Main outcomes were UI symptoms, peak vaginal pressure and physical functions measured with timed up and go test (TUG), one leg standing test (OLST), activities of daily living (ADL) and grip strength. Changes in outcome measurements were calculated from baseline to 4 weeks and to 8 weeks using repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There were significant differences in peak vaginal pressure (p<.001), TUG (p<.001), OLST (p=.012) and grip strength (p<.001) in the interaction between groups and time. Conclusion: Future studies are suggested to confirm the effect of muscle strength training in long-term care facilities where elderly women with UI reside.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to identify how the body composition changes after jump-roping exercise. METHODS: The subjects are 40 college students, 20 females and 20 males. The subjects were selected among college students who had not taken any drug for more than 4 weeks before the experiment started. The experiment was performed for 4 weeks, from May 23rd to June 13rd, 2012. To collect the data, the vital signs such as pulse, blood pressure, weight), and the body composition were measured before and after the experiment. The data on the body composition were analyzed by the electrical resistance analyzer. RESULT: Muscle mass was increased and body fat was decreased for both females and males after the exercise. In particular the increase of the muscle mass and the decrease of the body fat for the females were statistically significant. The result that the body fat of the females was decreased significantly more than that of males is interpreted that the body fat of females are comparatively higher than that of males. Additionally the muscle mass of the left arm and leg of the subjects were significantly increased(p<.05). Correlation analysis between general characteristics such as body composition, abdominal obesity and specific muscle areas for both men and women showed generally positive between before and after the jump-roping exercise (p<.05, p<.01). However the correlation between sleeping time and each variable showed negative. CONCLUSION: A according to the result of this study, jump-roping exercise had a very positive effect on the body composition. The study suggests that college students keep jump roping for a long period to change their body composition favorably.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinetical variables of the lower extremity joints when performing uchimata(inner thigh reaping throw) by uke(receiver)'s two posture(shizenhon tai), jigohon tai), by voluntary resistance level(VRL) in judo. The subjects, who were for 3 male Korean national representative judokas(elite group : EG) and 3 male representative judokas of Korean University(non-elite group: NEG), and were filmed 4 DV video cameras(60fields/sec.), that posture of uke were shizenhon-tai (straight natural posture), jigohon-tai(straight defensive posture), VRL of uke was 0%. The selected trials were subject to 3-dimensional film motion analysis and ground reaction force(MRF) analysis. The kinetical variable of this study were temporal, postures( ankle and knee angle of attacking leg), that were computed through video film analysis, MRF at events were obtained from the ground-reaction force analysis by AMTI force plate system. When performing uchi-mata according to each posture and by VRL, from the data analysis and discussion, the conclusions were as follows : 1) Temporal variables : total time-required(TR) when performing uchi-mata was shown EG 0.13sec the shorter than NEG(o.77sec.) in shizenhon-tai. and EG 0.17sec the shorter than NEG(o.76sec.) in jigonhon-tai. Also, all of two groups' jigohon-tai(0.68sec.) were faster than shizenhon-tai(0.71 sec.). 2) The posture variables : The angle of ankle in attacking when performing were plantar flexion in EG, and dorsi flexion in NEG by shizenhon-tai and jigohon-tai posture. The angle of knee in attacking when performing were extension in EG and NEG, but range of extension in EG were larger than in NEG. 3) MRF : Vertical MRF when performing uchi-mata was shown the strongest in the 2nd stage of kake phase(2.23BW) by EG in both posture, and it was same value by NEG(2.23BW), but shizenhon-tai (2.28BW), jigohon-tai(1.64BW), respectively.
