This study is intended to reveal reading comic books helps improve creativity. Though the long-lasting negative recognition towards comic books has positively changed these days, we need a ground upon which the social recognition needs improvement in that children's comic books have been used as a learning tool. Its introduction points out that there has been shortage of empirical researches on comic book reading, and as one of the empirical research methods, presents a method of comparative analysis on comic book reading, school study, and creativity tests via survey. The theoretical background in the 2nd chapter, first, puts emphasis on the significance of the creativity theory among all the other theories related to creativity, which focuses on problem-solving capacity. Second, it theoretically reviews the meaning which 'fun' and 'interest' have in development of creativity in the context of developmental process of the modern educational theories. Third, it empathizes that traits of reading comic books start off with 'fun' and 'interest', that awareness of reality gets expanded via the process of characters making their way through a strange world with empathy and absorption, and that comic book reading has to do with creativity. Fourth, it presents a model questionnaire with which to study relationship between comic books and creativity in an empirical way. The analysis on the survey outcome in the 3rd chapter shows, first, that smart students read many comic books, not to mention that studying helps improve creativity, which indicates above all, comic book reading and improvement of creativity are not negatively related, but are mutually complementary. Second, that creativity enhanced by reading comic books is higher than that enhanced by studying, which may mean comic book reading is more effective than studying in developing creativity. It has drawn a conclusion based upon these results, that reading comic books bears positive efficacy on both studying and developing creativity. Standing on this conclusion, it proposes it necessary to develop methods by grades of educating how to read comic books and to provide a recommended list of comic books to read.

The findings of this study point out as follows: Teachers' professional development about mathematics implies the improvement of the quality of mathematics instruction following improving the quality of mathematics learning through well-structured mathematics teacher education programs. To do this, teachers need to have shared vision about how to teach mathematics, to have profound knowledge related to the mathematics subject, and to actively participate in teachers' professional development programs in mathematics. The results suggest the common characteristics of successful programs of mathematics teachers' professional development. The results of this study suggest that teachers need to have passion and efforts to improve teachers' professionalization about mathematics, and research on teacher professional development should be based on understanding about teachers. Also, more teacher-researchers to connect educational theories with educational practices are recommended, and a model for teachers' professional development program of mathematics appropriate to the context of Korea needs to be developed.
The purpose of this study was to ascertain high school student ideas on the motion of the Earth and moon by cognitive level. For this study, five students determined to be of high, middle and low cognitive level selected from 73 10th-grade students at a high school located in Suwon, Gyeonggido. The results of this study were as follows: first, students at the high cognitive level had comparatively more logical and scientific conception on the revolution and rotation of the Earth and moon. second, students at the middle cognitive level, generally had a passive learning attitude to unconditionally memorize learned contents, so they were apt to forget learned contents, also their recognized conception was not enlarged. In addition, they had native theories, intuitive ideas and misconceptions as well as made logical errors in the course of explanation for the motion of the Earth and moon. In the course of explanation for the phases of the moon and the cause of change of season, because of their scientific conception, the students made more and more errors in conception. finally students at the low cognitive level were not willing to think logically and positively and were very passive in the attitude to recognize conception. In addition, they have learned helplessness on the grounds that they have low scholastic achievement specially in science.

The purpose of this study is to critically review the skill-based approach to scientific inquiry in science education and to explore the meaning of science practices that are emphasized in recent science education reform movement. An extensive review of relevant literature was carried out, and the results were summarized according to the detailed themes of the study. In the skill-based approach of which Science-A Process Approach (SAPA) is a representative example, science process skills were presented as hierarchically connected with one another, they were believed to be transferable or generalizable, and science learning through discovery was stressed. These points of view are, however, contradicted with those of the modern philosophy of science which suggests the theory-laden nature of using the skills. The skill-based view has also been criticized by the fact that the use of inquiry skills is content-specific or context-dependent and that science theories or principles cannot be discovered by induction. In contrast, the recent view understands science practices holistically, emphasizes the diverse ways of doing the practices which vary with different contents or contexts, and considers student ideas importantly in the science classroom. The findings of this study can contribute to the development of a new science curriculum by providing implications for establishing a consistent view on scientific inquiry.
This study aims to develop strategies for improving the affective characteristics of Korean students based on results from international achievement tests. In pursuing the goal, different research methods are employed including a) analysis of the theories and literature regarding the affective domains included in PISA and TIMSS studies; b) analysis of the current situation and needs of Korean students with respect to the affective factors based on PISA and TIMSS results; c) case studies of best practices in relation to students' affective domains in Korea and abroad; and d) development of strategies for improving and supporting Korean students' affective characteristics. Especially, this paper deals with the analysis of the results from in-depth interviews and class observations, so as to identify the current situation and best practice cases of students' affective characteristics education in Korea. The results are classified into a) curriculum, which is in turn divided into national curriculum and reconstruction of curriculum school and classroom; and b) teaching, learning and evaluation, which is in turn divided into learner characteristics, motivation, teaching strategies, class grouping, activities and interaction, question and feedback, evaluation methods, and evaluation tools. Support plans in terms of school and social environments are also suggested based on the results.
As importance of English has been getting more important with globalization, English education for preschoolers has drawn more attention from parents who were born in 1970's and 1980's. Demands for English education are very intense mainly because parent generation has experienced importance of English through own career and they have only one or two children, resulting parents' willingness to invest more on children's education. In order to response high demands for English education, Korean public education system has introduced more intense English education curriculum for younger children and put more weights on English education even for preschoolers. Even though there are numbers of studies to support effectiveness of English education for pre-school age children, adaption of English education for them without through preparation may cause unwanted results on children's learning experience. Hence, it is imperative to develop guideline for English education targeting pre-school age children based on through studies. The purpose of this paper is to justify English education for preschoolers based on various theories for language acquisition, research effectiveness of edutainment animation for English education, and provide basic guideline to develop edutainment animation in the future. To achieve this goal, this study visits how each theory emphasizes importance of language education in preschool age children and analyzes well-known edutainment animation titles by comparing them per characteristics. Furthermore, specifically from participation-inducing animation for education, each component, such as characters, story structure, & story telling methods, has been discussed. Based on the findings from this paper, basic guidelines to develop edutainment animation are developed by suggesting teaching tools for English education for preschoolers.
It has been frequently pointed out that the established art history with the stylistic and iconographic interpretations and monographic analysis is fallen behind the currency of modern art. Among those who claimed the crisis in the discipline of art history, there is a suggestion that the art historical study should be fostered by other factors in the fields of the humanities. The so called New Art History or 'visual Culture Studies' insists that art history has to be restructured to integrate the broader study of culture and society, and by now, such an opinion is not a novelty at all. One of the most significant yet overlooked elements that induced the new currency of art history is properties of contemporary art that conflict the traditional claim of art historians. Although the idea that art is not purely aesthetic but that it has many other functions has been brought up by the art historians, it was the artists that provoked such a perception. When Arthur C. Danto and Hans Belting proclaimed the End of Art and Art History in the 1980s, the concept of art has been changed radically through the avant-garde tendency of Modernism and a new pluralism of Postmodernism. One dominant concern that strikes art historians is to find a new approach to art, since the traditional method and goal of analysis for past art and past art history seem unavailable. The perplexity arising from the situation is intensified in the field of teaching art, especially for those who teach art history in art school. Basically art history is a pursuit of learning of art in history, and its purpose is to reconcile the present with the past and the future as well. Since Modernism, as it is confusing sometimes because it implies the present state, somehow art became considered 'tradition-less'. It does not mean that a work of art stands aloof from the past attainments, hut modern art imposed itself on a task seeking after the new for its own sake, turning its back on the tradition. And now in the era of Postmodernism, an historians face the requirement to revaluate the whole history of art including modernism. The necessity of art history in art education is indisputable, but methods and contents in the academic courses should he reexamined now. Because artists' concept of history and past art has been altered, and art history as a humanistic discipline can only maintain its identity through incorporation with art itself. Academics teaching art history, or, strictly speaking, past works of art and history, to the student in art school, confront with the need to rethink the object of art history and its meaning to the artists.
Using theories of sectoral innovation system and supply chain management, this paper examines the status quo of Korean IT SoC industry's innovation system by comparing it with Taiwanese one. Taiwan IT SoC industry has accomplished a rapid growth on the basis of government policies that foster domestic firms after the establishment of Hsinchu Science Park. Cooperative networks between foundries firms and fablesses have been formed within the supply chain in this process. Therefore, Taiwan industry has possessed the possibility of the coevolution in sectoral innovation system. However, Korean IT SoC industry has failed to form cooperative networks, because of weak networks between related firms. In other words, there exists an interaction failure, which is a kind of the system failure, and it means a lack of linkage between actors as a result of insufficient use of complementarities and interactive learning. Therefore, Korean industry has little possibility of the coevolution in sectoral innovation system. The cooperative networks between actors are prerequisite towards evolution of innovation system of Korean IT SoC industry. Above all, the cooperative networks between fablesses and system companies need to be strengthened within the supply chain.

Modern organizations, both complicated and complex, operate in an economic climate of· turbulence and rapid change. And Today's healthcare environment is changing, driven by demographic, environmental. social, political and technological forces. In actual practice, the organization usually depend on several factors such as economic state of organization, managerial strategies, a synthesis of several theories that reflect individual biases, specific circumstances, and practical realities. These rapidly changing healthcare environment and professional nursing practice need a strategy for the organizational development and goal attainment. An understanding of organizational culture could help managers enhance or expand their management strategy, thus increasing the probability of their success in the organization. Organizational culture is an abstract, yet potent managerial concept. With roots in several disciplines, several perspectives and definitions of organizational culture have emerged. The concept of organizational culture has been rapidly introduced into the academic and organizational world, with the much attention to the excellent companies that have continued rapid grow th despite the overall world economic recession in the late of 1970s. Organizational culture is the combination of the symbols, language, assumptions, and behaviors that overtly manifest an organization's norm and values. It is the taken-for-granted and shared meanings people assign to their social surroundings that can have a profound effect on an organizaitonal decision making and performance. For attaining a organizational goal and developing organization, it is necessary to put emphasis on developing organizational culture. It has to set organizational culture well understood by its members as an instrument to achieve the organizational goals. Both Manager and staff can focus and act on the values identified. Also, managers will exhibit better decision making capabilities because they are guided by perception of the organizational values. Therefore, understanding of organizational culture could give a strategy for organizational development that assist hiring personnel, orienting new comers, facilitating organizational change and promoting learning and so on. But their is few study on nursing organizational culture in Korea. Moreover they have not had a clear definition of Korean nursing organizational culture. Therefore, it is necessary to lay down definition of Korean nursing organizational culture and fine out real factor of Korean nursing culture. This study reviewed the stuttering literature and reported the clinical experiment in stuttering intervention. There is still no single answer as to the cause of stuttering or to the most effective therapy for stutterers despite the vast amount of research. One certain thing is that we have come closer to a better understanding of the stuttering and to more effective therapy. There have been three main statements about the origins of stuttering ; biologic origins ; psychodynamic origins ; environmental-learning origins. There also have been various methods of the treatment of stuttering. Broadly, two major treatment approaches are attentive ; stuttering modification therapy and fluency shaping therapy. In this experiment, the researcher attempted to investigate complex elements that each child might have and to use an integrative approach rather than to keep the specific one. Individual subjects were evaluated by a multidisciplinary team. Initially, the subjects received individual therapy. They then were placed in group therapy. The purpose of the group therapy was to raise their fluencies to the higher communicative situation and to maintain improved fluency over time. All three subjects improved their fluencies in reading and in conversation and showed the better(SSI)scores in total stuttering behaviors. It was also discussed that it is necessary to have sensitive assessment tools to investigate each element of stuttering ; and to develop a therapy program reflecting current advanced stuttering theories.
