The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), including deep learning, has led to the development of technologies that may assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, prediction of disease risk and prognosis, health index monitoring, drug development, and healthcare management and administration. However, in order for AI technology to improve the quality of medical care, technical problems and the efficacy of algorithms should be evaluated in real clinical environments rather than the environment in which algorithms are developed. Further consideration should be given to whether these models can improve the quality of medical care and clinical outcomes of patients. In addition, the development of regulatory systems to secure the safety of AI medical technology, the ethical and legal issues related to the proliferation of AI technology, and the impacts on the relationship with patients also need to be addressed. Systematic training of healthcare personnel is needed to enable adaption to the rapid changes in the healthcare environment. An overall review and revision of undergraduate medical curriculum is required to enable extraction of significant information from rapidly expanding medical information, data science literacy, empathy/compassion for patients, and communication among various healthcare providers. Specialized postgraduate AI education programs for each medical specialty are needed to develop proper utilization of AI models in clinical practice.
Purpose:The present qualitative study explored adolescents' perceptions regarding effective strategies to prevent adolescents from using tobacco products (TP). Apart from the commercial TPs, there has been emerging use of alternatives such as vapes, e-cigarettes and shisha. This unfortunate phenomenon continues despite the currently available preventive strategies. Thus, understanding of the perceptions of the current generation would be valuable to provide new insights. Methods: Purposive sampling was utilized to recruit 40 adolescents between the age of 15 and 16 years old attending public daily secondary schools. Eight focus group discussions were conducted among the TP users, ex-users and non-users. Data were analyzed using a thematic content analysis procedure with NVivo. Results: Among barriers with the currently available strategies were having teachers who smoke tobacco, addiction to nicotine and self-perceptions of being healthy. The content of any program should include knowledge on negative outcomes of using tobacco products and awareness of the legislation together with ways to overcome peer and family influence including improving self-efficacy and refusal skills. Strategies were suggested to be delivered using information technology which provides interactive learning and visual effects. Conclusions: Adolescents agreed that the content and delivery of tobacco use prevention strategies need to be revised to suit the current generation to ensure sustainability.

Web-based instructional system gives us the greatest potential for supporting face-to-face classroom instruction in many ways. With the help of the Web in high school setting, all of the participants including teachers can share many different experiences, active interactions, and even learning outcomes. In this paper, web-based instructional strategy based on constructivism for extending the geographical thought is suggested. The results from the formative assessment, as well as the statistical results from regression analysis concerning the learners' satisfaction, are also provided.
This study identifies the necessity and importance of innovation in rural communities and highlights the role of rural revitalization support centers in facilitating the diffusion of community innovation. The study provides a literature review and employs the survey method to verify the arguments. There is an urgent need for rural communities to be distinct, attractive, and competitive in the wake of globalization. It is clear that they must recognize the need to facilitate innovation under growing trends toward trade liberalization, environment-oriented life styles, diversified consumer needs, and a knowledge-based society. The results provide support for the legitimacy of establishing rural revitalization support centers to help community leaders and local stakeholders develop their communities. More specifically, rural communities should employ R&D outcomes from diverse fields and capacity building by community members, leaders, and local governments to foster sustainable growth by overcoming limitations in spatial access and resources. The results suggest that rural revitalization support centers can be established as intermediary organizations that can be operated to facilitate community innovation in rural development. In addition, these centers should play key roles such as empowering communities, facilitating region-specific rural development policies, motivating R&D applications for rural development, encouraging rural development networks. Further, close attention should be paid to facilitate mutual learning by expanding networks and interactions between these centers.

The purpose of this study was to survey the status of the operation of site-based environmental education(EE) programs. This study surveyed 165 schools and organizations that operated site-based EE program in 2000 using a mail questionnaire and interviews. The response rate was 43%. The result indicated that awareness, participation, and attitude were considerably addressed, while knowledge and skills were addressed to a lesser degree. There were some difficulties in motivating students and in considering the developmental stage of participants. For programing the site-based EE, financial support and expert knowledge of EE were needed most of all. Learning materials for various and hand-on activities were also needed. The affective domain, such as awareness and attitude, showed marked improvement in the outcomes of the programs. Direct experience and sensitivity, connection with school education, regional characteristics were sufficiently addressed in the programs, while cultural aspects, fairness, originality, and accuracy were not. Flexibility in performing the programs and less rigidity of report on operations were needed. Through the discussion of the results, some improvements for the operation of site-based EE program were suggested.
Although each company is trying to develop an economic analysis model with its own particular style or format, the appropriate method is not yet developed because there are many problems to be solved such as uncertainity of outcomes and intangible benefits of technology. The purpose of tris paper therefore is to suggest an economic analysis methodology, which reflects the complexity and the risk of R&D investment, through a case study on the development of a superconductor fault current limiter. A self-developed Monte Carlo simulation program utilized as a main tool in this paper was very useful for risk analysis of R&D investment which could not be solved in the previous DCF(Discounted Cash Flow) model. We also introduce learning effect to consider the intangible benefits such as Know-How obtained from R&D execution. The expected value and its probability distribution for R&D investment can be obtained by combining the Monte Carlo method with the decision tree approach. This result is helpful in judging the priority and the resource-allocation of R&D projects. It is however necessary to develop more precise model for quantifying the technology stock and the simulation program using the continuous probability distribution in expected values to improve the reliability of economic analysis on R&D projects.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the effects of dynamic balance training on pain, physical function, and dynamic balance in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: Fourteen patients with knee osteoarthritis participated in this study. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group (n=7) or a control group (n=7). All the patients took part in a lower extremity strength program for 30 min. In addition, the experimental group participated in a 30-min dynamic balance program. Both groups performed the program five times a week for 3 weeks. Outcomes, including the numeric rating scale (NRS), Western Ontario and MacMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), and Community Balance and Mobility Scale (CB&M), were measured at baseline and after 3 weeks. Results: Both groups showed pre-to-post intervention improvements on all outcome measures (p<0.05). The experimental group showed a significant improvement in WOMAC (p = 0.00; Z = -2.82) and CB&M (p = 0.03; Z = -2.20) scores after the intervention as compared with those of the control group. Conclusion: The results revealed that dynamic balance training improved physical function, as well as balance ability, in patients with knee osteoarthritis as compared with that of a control group with no balance training.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate site-based environmental education(EE) programs. For the evaluation, an evaluation chart was developed. The chart was consisted of twenty evaluation items in the following six categories : 'goals & objectives', 'instructional planning', 'instruction', 'learning outcomes & evaluation', 'features of program', and 'program operation'. One hundred sixty five site-based EE programs, funded by the Korean Ministry of Environment in 2000, were evaluated. After the evaluation, the programs were also categorized and analyzed according to regions, organizations, and amount of funds. The results indicated that awareness, participation, and attitude were addressed in the purpose of the programs, while knowledge and skills were not. The diversity of activities and teaching strategies of the programs were insufficient. Cultural aspects, fairness, originality, and accuracy were also insufficiently addressed. Assessment and evaluation of such programs were needed to be considered to a larger degree. From the analysis of programs according to categories, Choongbuk province in the regional aspect and schools in the organizational aspect got higher scores than others. Overall, the more funding the program received, the higher score it got in evaluation. Some improvements and strategies for activating site-based EE were recommended based on the result of the evaluation.
