학교현장실습이 중등 예비수학교사들의 교사의 지식에 대한 인식 변화에 미친 영향 (Effect of teaching practicum for pre-service mathematics teachers' perception changes about teacher's knowledge)

  • In this study, 45 pre-service mathematics teachers were surveyed about how the perception of knowledge through teaching practicum have changed and how the knowledge learned in college and teaching practicum helped to format teachers' knowledge and analyzed survey's result. Pre-service mathematics teachers felt the knowledge for understanding students were needed the most and considered the experiences from teaching practicum were more useful than the knowledge learned from college classes. However, they had low appreciations on connecting knowledge on learned contents with real-life or other subjects and on necessity of knowledge of using various learning tools or mathematical materials in class. Also, they have answered the knowledges from college classes and teaching practicum were useless in those areas. Especially, they pointed out that guidance teachers during teaching practicum were insufficient in instructing. Therefore, we suggest the following two to improve the teaching ability of pre-service mathematics teachers through teaching practicum. First, college and secondary school cooperating programs such as class-observation and student-mentor system connected with local society should be developed. Second, the special re-training program for guidance teachers of teaching practicum is needed.

  • 본 연구는 수학과 중등학교 교사 임용후보자 선정경쟁시험이 예비 교사의 지식을 어떻게 평가하고 있는지 최근 8년간 시행된 임용시험 1차 180개의 문항을 지식의 영역과 수준의 차원에서 분석한 결과, 분야에 따라 특정 영역과 수준에의 편중성과 평가 외적 내용 요소의 출현 등이 나타나 이로부터 임용시험의 질 개선에의 시사점을 논하였다.

  • Using computer technology in teaching school mathematics creates new instructional environments. The emphases on the use of computer technology in the classrooms and in particular the use of computer-based exploration as a context of mathematics instruction have been reflected in the recommendation of the NCTM (Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics, 1989). Although the power of using computer technology in the exploration of mathematical problems has been recognized and stressed by many educators, we do not have many research studies on mathematics in computer-based explorations. Especially research has failed to clarify how computer technology can contribute to the construction of procedural and conceptual knowledge of mathematics. Up to now most researches on procedural and conceptual knowledge in computer environments have only focused on classifying programming languages which program language has more random access and rich interrelationship characteristic in relation to conceptual knowledge in humans, and which computer language has more characteristic flavor of procedural knowledge. How computer-based explorations affect the knowledge construction of mathematics, therefore, emerges as an issue of research on teacher education program for theoretical framework. This situation leads to do research on the effectiveness of using computer explorations in pre-service teacher education in terms of procedural and conceptual knowledge construction.

교사의 지식에 대한 중등 초임수학교사들의 인식 분석 (An Analysis on the Perceptions of Beginning Secondary Mathematics Teachers about Teacher Knowledge)

  • 본 연구에서는 교사의 지식에 대한 초임교사들의 인식을 알아보기 위해 초임교사들에게 설문을 실시하고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 초임교사들은 자신의 수업의 반성과 개선에 대한 지식을 가장 필요하다고 인식하고, 실제 수업에서는 수학적 개념과 학습 내용들 사이의 연계성과 위계성 등 상호 관계에 대한 지식을 가장 많이 활용한다고 인식한다. 이러한 교사의 지식은 주로 수업 경험과 교사 연수를 통해 형성된다고 인식한다. 또한, 초임교사들은 수학 수업에서 공학적 도구와 평가를 활용하는 지식에 대해 필요성을 낮게 인식하고 자주 활용하지 못하는 것으로 인식한다. 초임교사들이 교사의 지식을 형성하는데 도움을 주기 위해 교사 입문 프로그램과 멘토링의 활성화, 교원 양성기관의 교육과정의 개선, 다양한 교사 연수 프로그램의 개발과 보급 등이 필요하다.

초등교사와 예비교사의 수학 수업에 대한 신념 분석 (Analysis on the Belief about Mathematics Teaching of Elementary Preservice Teachers and Mathematics Teachers)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 학교에서 수학을 가르치고 있는 초등교사들과 교육대학교에 재학 중인 예비교사들이 수학 수업에서 수학 지도에 초점을 두는 지식과 수학적 활동에 대해 어떤 신념을 가지고 있는가를 조사 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 수학 지도에 초점을 두는 지식에 대한 15개 문항과 수학 지도에 초점을 두는 수학적 활동에 대한 19개 문항으로 구성된 설문지를 만들었고, 초등교사 114명과 예비교사 100명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 수학 지도에 초점을 두는 지식에서는 예비교사들이 개념적 지식에서 초등교사들보다 높은 점수를 나타내었고, 초등교사들은 절차적 지식과 메타 인지적 지식, 인식적 지식에서 예비교사들보다 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 그리고 수학 지도에 초점을 두는 수학적 활동에서는 지식의 표현, 지식의 생성, 지식의 심의, 지식의 발표에서 예비교사들이 초등교사들보다 높은 점수를 나타내었고, 지식(구문)의 사용에서 만 초등교사들이 예비교사들보다 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 초등교사들과 예비교사들 간에 차이가 있는가를 검증하기 위하여 독립표본 t-검정을 실시한 결과, 유의미한 차이가 나는 수학적 지식과 활동의 항목이 나타났지만, 전체적으로 예비교사들과 초등교사들은 다양한 수학적 지식과 활동을 강조하고 있었다.

수학교사의 확률과 통계에 대한 지식과 신념 (Mathematics teachers' knowledge and belief on the high school probability and statistics)

  • This work aims to investigate mathematics teachers' knowledge and belief on the high school probability and statistics. For this aim, two research questions are estabilished as follows. (1) How is mathematics teachers' knowledge on the main contents of the high school probability and statistics in the 7th mathematics curriculum? (2) What is mathematics teachers' belief on the high school probability and statistics? Survey and interviews were carried out to answer the above research questions. Subjects of the survey were 2 7mathematics teachers who were answered to questionnaire. Among them, 3 volunteers were chosen by provinces for in-depth interview. Research findings in mathematics teacher's knowledge are as follows. Firstly, mathematics teachers do not have much of mathematical knowledge on the newly added and changed contents of the high school probability and statistics in the 7th mathematics curriculum. Secondly, mathematics teachers do not change their teaching-learning method for probability and statistics. Thirdly, many teachers think that the use of technology and reconstruction of the textbooks are required in teaching and learning of the high school probability and statistics. But, they stick on their own way. Research findings in mathematics teachers' belief are as follows. Firstly, many mathematics teachers view the nature of statistics as a branch of the applied mathematics and put the value of high school probability and statistics on the practical usefulness, Secondly, many mathematics teachers think that understanding concepts and improving problem solving ability are the best method of the teaching and learning. Thirdly, many mathematics teachers think that high school probability and statistics textbooks should cause motivations and interests in order not to give up studying probability and statistics. It is expected that the above findings can be used to change teachers' teaching and learning methods and to improve teachers training program.

비형식적 수학적 지식과 형식적 수학적 지식의 결합에 관한 소고 (A Short Discussion about Connection of Informal and Formal Mathematical Knowledge)

  • The purpose of this paper is to try formulating a working definition of connection of informal and formal mathematical knowledge. Many researchers have suggested that informal mathematical knowledge should be connected with school mathematics in the process of learning and teaching it. It is because informal mathematical knowledge might play a important role as a cognitive anchor for understanding school mathematics. To implement the connection of them we need to know what the connection means. In this paper, the connection between informal and formal mathematical knowledge refers to the making of relationship between common attributions involved with the two knowledge. To make it clear, it is discussed that informal knowledge consists of two properties of procedures and conceptions as well as formal mathematical knowledge does. Then, it is possible to make a connection of them. Now it is time to make contribution of our efforts to develop appropriate models to connect informal and formal mathematical knowledge.

중등교사 임용시험 수학교과교육학 기출 문항 분석 (An Analysis of the Discipline of Mathematics Education in Secondary School Mathematics Teacher Certificate Examination)

  • This study aims at what is required knowledge and ability to pre-service math teachers in teacher certificate examination. First, the items are analyzed and among questions of discipline of mathematics education in the last five years are analyzed and classified. Second, an analytical framework suitable for item analysis is examined and the items are analysed by the analytical framework. Finally, helpful implications for discipline of mathematics education assessment can be drawn from this study. It is found that the discipline of mathematics education assessment has the following characteristics: 1) It assesses specific content of the assessment component; 2) It assesses a teacher's theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge and creative knowledge in terms of teaching ability; 3) There are six cognitive assessments; 4) There is an item for difficulty adjustment.

수학적 소양 (Mathematical Literacy)에 대하여 (Reconsidering Mathematical Literacy)

  • The purpose of this paper is to reconsider the meaning of mathematical literacy based on the investigation of the nature of mathematical knowledge communicated in university level mathematics classes. The analysis of classroom discourse has revealed three different kinds of mathematical knowledge circulated in mathematics class, which include 'factual mathematics', 'mathematical fantasy', and 'mathematical savior faire.' The fact that a mathematics teacher delivers diverse categories of mathematics knowledge suggests that the mathematical literacy is not confined to the development of technical competence. More specifically, the kinds of mathematical knowledge identified above tell that mathematical literacy developed through learning mathematics reflects the cultural norms and values of doing mathematics. This means that mathematical literacy is not merely involve with technical competence but rather with cultural competence. In this regard, this paper highlights the meaning of mathematical literacy as a cultural identity, which has been underestimated in the theory and practice of mathematics education dominated by technocracy of the twentieth century In particular, the notion of mathematical savior faire implies that teaching and teaming mathematics ultimately deals with a system of cultural meaning. Hence, through learning mathematics, a learner gets transformed as a whole person according to the cultural norms and values. In this regard, it is concluded that mathematical literacy can be considered as a necessary condition to become a competent member of mathematics community sharing cultural norms of doing mathematics as well as a repertoire of mathematical skills.

초등 수학 수업에서 발현되는 교사의 변환 지식 분석 (An Analysis of a Teacher's Transformation Knowledge in Elementary Mathematics Teaching)

  • 가르치는 데 필요한 교사 지식은 실제 해당 교과를 가르치는 중에 수업 맥락과 깊이 관련되어 나타나기 마련이다. 이와 같은 관점에서 최근 수학 교사 지식에 대한 연구는 실제 가르칠 때 발현되는 수학적 지식(Mathematical Knowledge in Teaching [MKiT])을 분석하려는 경향이 강하다. 본 논문에서는 효과적인 MKiT 분석틀로 알려진 '교사 지식의 사중주(Knowledge Quartet [KQ])' 중 '변환' 차원 및 관련 코드를 소개하고, 이를 중심으로 우리나라 초등 수학 수업을 분석한 사례를 제시하였다. 분석 결과 변환 차원의 관련 코드는 전반적으로 우리나라 초등 수학 수업에서 발현되는 교사의 변환 지식을 밝히는 데 유용한 것으로 드러났다. 그러나 보다 적합성을 높이기 위해서는 일부 코드를 보완할 필요성도 제기되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 본 논문은 초등 수학 수업에서 발현되는 교사 지식의 분석틀에 대한 시사점을 제시한다.
