  • Selectively excited photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy has been carried out on the ~1540 nm $^{4}$I$_{13}$ 3/ to $^{4}$I/wub 15/2/ emissions of the multiple Er$^{3+}$ centers observed in Er-implante undoped and Mg-doped GAN at temperatures ranging from 6K to 295K. The temperature dependence of the Er$^{3+}$ PL spectra selectively excited by below -gap light demonstrates different quenching rates for the distinct Er$^{3+}$ centers, and indicates that the PL spectra with the most rapid thermal quenching rats do not contribute to the room temperature, above-p-pumped Er$^{3+}$ spectrum. In addition, selective PL spectroscopy has ben carried out on the Er$^{3+}$ emission in Er-implanted undoped and Mg-doped GaN at temperatures ranging 6K to 295K. The results indicate that the previously reported enhancement of the violet-pumped centers contribution to the low temperature above excited Er$^{3+}$ PL in Mg-doped GaN is also evident at room temperature.temperature.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present an optimization scheme that aims at minimizing the expected cost per unittime. This study considers a linear connected-(r, s)-ouI-of-(m, n):f lattice system whose components are orderedlike the elements of a linear (m, n)-matrix. We assume that all components are in the state 1 (operating) or 0(failed) and identical and s-independent. The system fails whenever at least one connected (r, s)-submatrix offailed components occurs. To find the optimal threshold of maintenance intervention, we use a simulatedannealing(SA) algorithm for the cost optimization procedure. The expected cost per unit time is obtained byMonte Carlo simulation. We also has made sensitivity analysis to the different cost parameters. In this study, utility maintenance model is constructed so that minimize the expense under full equipment policy throughcomparison for the full equipment policy and preventive maintenance policy. The full equipment cycle and unitcost rate are acquired by simulated annealing algorithm. The SA algorithm is appeared to converge fast inmulti-component system that is suitable to optimization decision problem.

  • This paper presents the experimental study of the static stiffness for the BT shank(7/24 long taper) and the HSK tool shank(1/10 short taper) in the main spindle taper of machine tool. The static stif71ess test was performed under different experimental conditions. It is turned out that the effective axial drawing force is larger than 6kN in the 7/24 test tool shank and BkN in the 1/10 test tool shank. As a test result, considering that the actual drawing force of the machining center is about 1300k2f and axal drawing force 12kN is equivalent amount as a 1220kgf, it is turned out that 1/10 test tool shank superior to 7/24 test tool shank in the static stiffness.

  • Recently, Hou and others introduced a (2, n) block-based progressive visual cryptographic scheme (BPVCS) in which image blocks can be gradually recovered step by step. In Hou and others' (2, n)-BPVCS, a secret image is subdivided into n non-overlapping image blocks. When t ($2{\leq}t{\leq} n$) participants stack their shadow images, all the image blocks associated with these t participants will be recovered. However, Hou and others' scheme is only a simple 2-out-of-n case. In this paper, we discuss a general (k, n)-BPVCS for any k and n. Our main contribution is to give two constructions (Construction 1 and Construction 2) of this general (k, n)-BPVCS. Also, we theoretically prove that both constructions satisfy a threshold property and progressive recovery of the proposed (k, n)-BPVCS. For k = 2, Construction 1 is reduced to Hou and others' (2, n)-BPVCS.

  • Kinetic studies have been carried out on solvolyses and halide exchanges $(Cl^-,\;Br^-,\;I^-)$ of N,N-dimethyl-, N,N-diethylcarbamoyl chlorides, and solvolyses of N,N-diphenylcarbamoyl chloride. Kinetic results together with simple MO analysis indicated that: (a) N,N-dialkylcarbamoyl chlorides reacted via the $S_N2$ mechanism, while N,N-diphenylcarbamoylchloride reacted via the $S_N1$ mechanism; (b) in chloride exchanges, the bond-breaking appeared to be important, whereas in bromide and iodide exchanges, the bond-formation was shown to be important.

  • Functional residual capacity (FRC) is an important diagnostic parameter measured using $N_{2}$ analyzer. Since $N_{2}$ analyzer is expensive as well as cumbersome for use of noisy vacuum pump, the FRC measurement becomes possible only in large well-equipped hospitals. The present study introduced a new $TN_{2}$ wash-out technique to measure FRC by $O_{2}/CO_{2}$ analysis, which is relatively cheaper and much simpler to apply. Slower $O_{2}$ response was compensated for high frequency to be coincided with $CO_{2}$ response, thereby enabled indirect, but accurate $N_{2}$ concentration measurement. FRC was estimated by continuous integration of expired $N_{2}$ volume obtained with air flow signal. Experiment with 3 L syringe, a standard calibration device recommended by the American Thoracic Society, demonstrated less than 1% error at 0, 1, and 2 L. Correlation coefficient was almost ideal, guaranteeing linear estimation of FRC. The present technique is inexpensive and simple to apply, thus should he of great convenience.

  • TiN coating on tool steel has been widely used for the improvement of durability of tools. In this work, radical nitriding(RN) is carried out on SKD61 at $450^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours in the ammonia gas pressure $2.7{\times}10^3\;Pa$. The TiN coating is carried out by arc ion plating(AIP) with the process parameters: arc power 150 A, bias voltage -50V, coating time 40 minutes and nitrogen gas pressure $4{\times}10^3\;Pa$. Hardness, elastic modulus, friction coefficient and adhesion of TiN coating on substrates of both TiN/SKD61 and TiN/RN SKD61 coatings are investigated comparatively. The primary crystalline faces of TiN surface are(200) and(111) for TiN/SKD61 and TiN/RN SKD61 respectively. In addition to the primary phase, Fe phase exists in TiN/SKD61 coating, but not in TIN/RN SKD61. The hardness of TiN/RN SKD61 is about 700 Hv, 250 Hv(56%) higher than that of TiN/SKD61 at the near interface of TiN and substrates. At the TiN surface, hardness of TiN/RN SKD61 is 2,149 Hv, 71 Hv(3%) higher than that of TiN/SKD61. The elastic modulus of TiN coating is improved to 26.7 GPa(6%) by radical nitriding. The adhesion is improved by the RN coating showing no spalling. buckling and chipping on the scratch test track which are shown on the non-RN TiN/SKD61.

  • In this paper, we study dynamical Bifurcation of the Burgers-Fisher equation. We show that the equation bifurcates an invariant set ${\mathcal{A}}_n({\beta})$ as the control parameter ${\beta}$ crosses over $n^2$ with $n{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$. It turns out that ${\mathcal{A}}_n({\beta})$ is homeomorphic to $S^1$, the unit circle.

  • Ab initio calculations of the structure and the binding energies of K+(C2H5OH)n, (n=1~5) complexes were carried out with MP2/ full gen 6d and MP2/ 6-311G** methods. The stable structures of the complexes with n=2 to 5 were linear, trigonal, tetrahedral and trigonal bipyramid respectively. The binding energies of complexes were increased with the number of ligands, but the incremental binding energies were decreased. These results agreed well with the results of K+ complexes with other solvents.

  • The purpose of this study is to show the friction and wear characteristic behaviors of TiN and CrN coated SKD61 which is applied to Al 6xxx extrusion mold material. The friction and wear characteristic behaviors of both coating layers were investigated by the reciprocating friction wear tester under atmospheric pressure and un-lubricated state. The processing parameters in this study were temperature (50 and $120^{\circ}C$) and load (3, 5, and 11 kgf). This study was carried out while comparing the coefficient of friction and microstructure of TiN and CrN coating layers on SKD61. The coefficient of friction of CrN became lower than that of TiN at all conditions. Therefore, CrN was suggested to be more advantageous than TiN for extrusion mold.
