Skew Difference Algebras

  • We modify the definition of difference algebra given by J. Meng to obtain a structure which is a directoid with sectional switching involutions with respect to the given partial order. Moreover, we show that this is a representation of our skew difference algebras because every such directoid can be converted into a skew difference algebra.

Smooth structures on symplectic 4-manifolds with finite fundamental groups

  • In studying smooth 4-manifolds the Donaldson invariant has played a central role. In [D1] Donaldson showed that non-vanishing Donaldson invariant of a smooth closed oriented 4-manifold X gives rise to the indecomposability of X. For instance, the complex algebraic suface X cannot decompose to a connected sum $X_1 #X_2$ with both $b_2^+(X_i) > 0$.

  • We study relations between two descriptions of closed orientable 3-manifolds: as branched coverings and as Heegaard splittings. An explicit relation is presented for a class of 3-manifolds which are branched cyclic coverings of connected sums of lens spaces, where the branching set is an axis of a hyperelliptic involution of a Heegaard surface.

A NOTE ON FLIP SYSTEMS

  • A dynamical system with a skew-commuting involution map is called a flip system. Every flip system on a subshift of finite type is represented by a pair of matrices, one of which is a permutation matrix. The transposition number of this permutation matrix is studied. We define an invariant, called the flip number, that measures the complexity of a flip system, and prove some results on it. More properties of flips on subshifts of finite type with symmetric adjacency matrices are investigated.

  • In this paper we mainly establish a relationship between involutions of multiplicative Hom-Lie algebras and Hom-Lie triple systems. We show that the -1-eigenspace of any involution on any multiplicative Hom-Lie algebra becomes a Hom-Lie triple system and we construct some examples of Hom-Lie triple systems using some involutions of some classical Hom-Lie algebras.

산화마그네슘 첨가에 따른 나노컴퍼지트의 수명평가 (Life Evaluation of Nano-Composites According to the Addition of MgO)

  • Molded insulation materials are widely used from large electric power transformer apparatus to small electrical machinery and apparatus. In this study, by adding MgO with the average particle of several tens nm and the excellent thermal conductivity into molding material, we improved the problem of insulation breakdown strength decrease according to rising temperature in overload or in bad environmental condition. We confirmed the life evaluation by using the insulation breakdown and inverse involution to investigate the electrical characteristics of nano-composites materials. By using a scanning electron microscope, it is confirmed that MgO power with the average particle size of several tens nm is distributed and the filler particles is uniformly distributed in the cross section of specimens. And it is confirmed that the insulation breakdown strength of Virgin specimens is rapidly decreased at the high temperature area. But it is confirmed that the insulation breakdown strength of specimens added MgO slow decreased by thermal properties in the high temperature area improved by the contribution of the heat radiation of MgO and the suppression of tree. The results of life prediction using inverse involution, it is confirmed that the life of nano-composites is improved by contribution of MgO according to the predicted insulation breakdown strength after 10 years of specimens added 5.0 wt% of MgO is increased about 2.9 times at RT, and 4.9 times at $100^{\circ}C$ than Virgin specimen, respectively.

ARIA 암호 알고리듬의 하드웨어 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of ARIA Cryptic Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 2004년 12월 국내 표준(KS)으로 제정된 ARIA 암호 알고리듬의 하드웨어 구조를 처음으로 제안하고 있다. ARIA 암호 알고리듬은 알려진 공격에 대하여 안전하며, Involution SPN (Substitution Permutation Network)으로써 구조적 효율성도 높다. 1 cycle/round 구조로 갖는 제안된 ARIA 구조는 회로 크기를 줄이기 위해 s-box를 듀얼 포트 롬과 배럴 로테이터를 채택한 고속의 라운드 키 생성기를 포함하고 있다. 제안된 ARIA는 Xilinx VirtexE-1600 FPGA를 사용하여 구현하였고, 1,490 slices와 16 RAM 블록을 사용해서 437 Mbps의 성능을 낸다. 설계된 ARIA 블록을 검증하기 위해서 영상 데이터를 암호화(복호화)하여 통신하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 설계한 ARIA는 IC 카드뿐만 아니라 데이터 저장이나 인터넷 보안 규격(IPSec, TLS)과 같은 많은 데이터를 고속 처리가 필요한 응용에 적용될 수 있다.

중력 작용의 변경 효과가 무미양서류 Xenopus laevis 수정란의 축형성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Gravity Perturbation on the Axis Specification in the Egg of Xenopus laevis)

  • Xenopus 수정란을 중력에 대해 새로운 방향으로 기울이거나 연속회전시키는 일련의 방법을 통하여 배/복측 극성 (dorsal/ventral polarity) 형성에 관계되는 다음과 같은 사실을 알게 되었다. (1) 수정 후 난을 $15^\\circ, 30^\\circ, 45^\\circ 및 60^\\circ$ 각도로 기울인 채 발생시키면 원구배순부는 보통중력의 반대쪽에 형성되었으며, $15^\\circ에서 60^\\circ$로 기울이는 각도를 증가시킬수록 변경되는 율도 증가하였다. (2) 자외선을 조사한 수정란을 제 1 분열전 $15^\\circ, 30^\\circ, 45^\\circ, 60^\\circ$등의 각도를 유지한 상태에서 발생시킨 결과 자외선에 의한 축형성의 발생결함이 회복되었으며 이때 기울이는 각도가 클수록 그 회복율도 증가하였다. (3) 여러 속도의 정속회전대 (clinostat)상에서 수정란을 발생시킬 경우 비교적 저속인 $0.45 \\sim 9.0$ rph에서는 원구배순부의 형성 장소가 난의 회전방향에 의존하였으나, $40 \\sim 360$ rph에서는 무작위한 방향으로 나타났다. 한편 정속회전대를 경험한 embryo는 대부분 정상적인 발생을 보였으나 축형성상의 결함을 보이는 개체도 아울러 관찰되었다. 이상과 같은 결과들을 배/복측 극성 결정기작과 연관지어 논의하였다.

A prospective study to assess the efficacy and safety of oral propranolol as first-line treatment for infantile superficial hemangioma

  • Purpose: To determine the efficacy and safety of oral propranolol as a first-line treatment for superficially located infantile hemangioma (IH) and propose an assessment tool to measure treatment response. Methods: Patients with superficial IH under 1 year of age were prospectively recruited between May 2012 and December 2013 at the Department of Pediatrics of Chungbuk National University Hospital. Propranolol was administered to 12 infants (median age, 3.8 months) while monitoring cardiovascular and adverse metabolic effects. If a patient showed no adverse events, the dosage was gradually increased up to 3 mg/kg/day and maintained for 1 year. We used our own scoring system to assess treatment response using parameters like change in color, and longest diameter, and thickness of the IH. Results: Eleven out of 12 patients completed the protocol with consistent improvement of hemangiomas during therapy. Patients on propranolol showed a more than 50% involution in the first 3 months, with additional steady involution until 1 year. Patients with the highest scores at 1 month maintained their score and showed better responses until treatment termination. The patient with the lowest score at 1 month did not show any further regression and stopped propranolol treatment 4 months after initiation. In two children with recurrences after successful therapeutic regression, propranolol was effective after being reintroduced. Propranolol treatment was not interrupted in any patient due to adverse events. Conclusion: Oral propranolol at 3 mg/kg/day showed a consistent, rapid, and therapeutic effect on superficial IHs without significant adverse events.

Uterine Involution and Ovarian Follicular Growth during Early Postpartum Period of Murrah Buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis)

  • Ultrasonographic studies were conducted on eight Murrah buffaloes daily from day 6 postpartum (pp) onwards till day 77 pp to monitor changes in the cervix, uterine horn and ovarian follicular growth and development. The mean size of horn and cervix on day six ($9.07{\pm}0.74$ and $8.58{\pm}0.00cm$) decreased significantly to $4.09{\pm}0.09$ and $3.56{\pm}0.08cm$ by day 27 pp, respectively. Follicles in 50% of the buffaloes ovulated within 24 to 54 days pp and the size of the largest follicle on different days increased to more than 5 mm. The remaining 50 percent of animals ovulated after 65 days postpartum. Large size follicles (>8.5 mm) appeared in six out of eight buffaloes between 10 to 30 days pp and five animals had ovulated during early postpartum period. Waves pattern of follicular growth was observed during early postpartum period. Ovulatory follicles growth rate was more than the anovulatory follicles and increase in size was more as compared to the subordinate follicle. Anovulatory follicles persisted for longer period. Mean size of large follicle was more from day 6 to 41 pp and again from 50 to 65 pp in cyclic animals. Second large follicle were large during early postpartum (18days), thereafter, its size was more in acyclic animals. Small follicles population was less in cyclic animals upto day 50 postpartum. Mean medium size follicle growth pattern did not differ in cyclic and acyclic groups. Large size follicle number was more in cyclic group (5/8) during 14 to 20 days postpartum. Presence of large follicles (>8.5 mm) showed initiation of ovarian activity.
