  • This study evaluated the effects of physical touch play programs in children through a systematic literature review and meta-analysis. A literature search for journal articles published before August 2022 was conducted using KERIS, KISS, DBpia, and ScienceON. The keywords used for the search were 'child', 'infant', 'physical touch', 'physical touch play', 'physical touch activities' and 'physical touch play program'. For the study's purpose, seven studies were selected through a systematic process of using several databases and were used to estimate the effect size of physical touch play programs. A meta-analysis was performed using a random effects model, and the effect size on cognitive function was calculated. Hedges' g of the physical touch play program was 6.20 (95% CI: 3.74-8.66), indicating a large effect size. To determine heterogeneity (I2= 95.4%, Q = 417.30, p<0.001), moderator analysis was performed using the total number of times and intervention duration. The total number of times was statistically significant; the other moderators did not differ significantly. This study systematically analyzed the results of physical touch play programs on children in Korea. It also provides insights that can be applied to the design of physical touch play programs for children. To present more evidence that supports the effectiveness of physical touch programs, further research is warranted.

  • For the successful execution of an ODA project, it is necessary to know what areas are weak and necessary to the country of demand exactly. The health sector is also a top priority in most of developing countries. This study was carried out to introduce non-communicable disease (NCD) in Fiji for ODA projects planning. The major causes of death in Fiji in 2016 are diabetes, ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, lower respiratory infect, asthma in ranking. The major causes of death in Korea in same year are cancer, ischemic heart diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pneumonia, suicide, diabetes in the order of ranking. The chronic disease as non-communicable disease (NCD) has been increasing continuously due to changes in lifestyle and consumption patterns and population aging in prevalence rate. This global trend is also apparent in Fiji and Korea, reflected in increasing mortality and personal costs for the treatment and management of NCD. The need for a sustained comprehensive treatment tailored for individual patients has suggested from many studies and the development of a systematic program to manage NCD patients to provide such care have been recommended. The Fiji government developed Non-communicable Diseases Strategic Plan 2015-2019 and has tried to reduce the prevalence rate of non-communicable diseases by factors. The WHO global action plan guiding national-level NCD policies requires an NCD prevention and control model at the community level, presenting strategic goals and detailed options for the introduction and application of the approach to communities. It is necessary to develop an NCD prevention and control model, consisting of a strategy of community intervention, education for students and NCD patients, and the legal enactment of NCD that adequately meets the needs of community members.

  • This study was a meta-analysis of previous studies that subjected stroke patients to the whole-body vibration exercise, in an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of such exercise in improving their balance and walking ability. The electronic databases used for literature search were the National Assembly Library, Korean Educational Academic Information (RISS), Korean Academic Information (KISS), and Nuri Media (DBPIA). We also investigated a prior study of the whole-body vibration exercise applied to stroke patients from January 2010 to August 2020. In assessing the quality of the study, the RCT (randomized controls trials) study used the risk of bias 2 (RoB2) tool developed by the Cochrane group. Meta-analysis was performed using R software for statistical computing version 4.0.3. The results of the study confirmed that the overall effect size was 0.40, and the whole-body vibration exercise used had a moderate effect on the balance and gait of stroke patients, the effect size of balance was 0.44, and the effect size of gait was 0.36, showing a positive effect. These results indicated that the whole-body vibration exercise is an effective intervention for stroke patients, and further research is needed.

  • An abnormal object refers to a person, an object, or a mechanical device that performs abnormal and unusual behavior and needs observation or supervision. In order to detect this through artificial intelligence algorithm without continuous human intervention, a method of observing the specificity of temporal features using optical flow technique is widely used. In this study, an abnormal situation is identified by learning an algorithm that translates an input image frame to an optical flow image using a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). In particular, we propose a technique that improves the pre-processing process to exclude unnecessary outliers and the post-processing process to increase the accuracy of identification in the test dataset after learning to improve the performance of the model's abnormal behavior identification. UCSD Pedestrian and UMN Unusual Crowd Activity were used as training datasets to detect abnormal behavior. For the proposed method, the frame-level AUC 0.9450 and EER 0.1317 were shown in the UCSD Ped2 dataset, which shows performance improvement compared to the models in the previous studies.

  • This study was conducted with the aim of developing and validating a measure of the workplace bullying bystander behavior. For the purpose, items were developed by referring to previous studies related to workplace bullying, and behavior subtypes were defined as pro-bullying, defending, and bystander behaviors. After confirming the content validity with the help of experts, a total of 31 preliminary items were composed. The final 26 items were selected by conducting an exploratory factor analysis and verifying the validity and reliability of the scale with a survey of 288 office workers who have directly or indirectly witnessed workplace bullying over the past three years. In this process, it was confirmed that defense behavior was distinguished into two types: Active and supportive. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with data from 518 office workers who have directly or indirectly witnessed workplace bullying over the past year, and the validity and reliability of the developed scale were confirmed. As a result of comparing the competing models to reconfirm the subtypes, it was confirmed again that active defense behavior and supportive defense behavior were distinguished. The criterion-related validity of all subtypes was confirmed by setting the criterion variables for workplace bullying behavior, altruistic behavior, pro-social behavior, fear of intervention, moral disengagement, guilt, and moral identity. Based on the result of this study, follow-up research tasks related to workplace bullying bystander behavior scale were suggested and the methods to prevent and intervene in workplace bullying while utilizing workplace bullying bystander behaviors were discussed.
