  • A simply constructed and inexpensive amplifier that exhibits unusually low noise is studied. The high-performance differential amplifier combines high input impedence, adjustable gain, low in put noise and low output impedance. The amplifier is particularly useful in applications which call for large amplificaions of very low level signals.

  • Novel bipolar transresistance amplifier(TRA) for high-accuracy current-mode signal processing is described. The TRA consists of two current follower for the current inputs, a current summer for curent-differential, and a voltage follower for the voltage output. The simulation results show that the impedence of the current input and the voltage output is 0.5 $\Omega$ and the 3-dB cutoff frequency when used as a current to voltage converter extends beyond 40 MHz.

  • 무선통신 분야에서 다량의 정보전송과 CDMA, PCS 등의 상업화에 의해 광대역 고출력 증폭기의 요구가 증가하고 있다. 제품화된 파워 모듈에 비해 트랜지스터로 구성한 전력증폭기는 비용의 감소와 효율증대, 생산성 향상의 이점이 있다. 3단의 증폭기를 사용하여 VHF(148∼174㎒),UHF(440㎒∼470㎒)대역에서 5W이상의 전력과 45%이상의 효율을 얻었으며, 적정한 바이어스회로와 임피던스 정합회로망을 설계하여 제작, 실험함으로서 기존의 파워 모듈과 동일한 크기, 성능을 나타냈으며, 발진, 방열, 하모닉제거등 전력증폭기에서 요구하는 사항을 만족하였다. 또한 UHF트랜지스터를 사용하여 VHF의 증폭기를 임피던스 매칭을 이용하여 설계할 수 있음을 실험에 의하여 입증하였다.

  • This paper proved experimentally that the disc array microstrip antenna designed and manufactured at X-band is capable to use for wide band antenna. This antenna arrayed the discs to have different resonant frequencies log-periodically on printed circuit board. The experimental result of this antenna showed the flat gain and good impedence matching characteristics. The VSWR of this antenna is 2.2 below through the system band.

  • The impulse impedence of grounding system must be accurately evaluated for a safe grounding design. However, a calculation nettled of the impulse impendence of a horizontal grounding electrode has not been established yet. This paper presents a method to compute the impulse impedance of a rod type grounding electrode and deals with the analysis of the transient characteristics on the electrodes.

  • Based on the cyclic voltammograms, potentiodynamic polarizations, transient and steady state Tafel plots and electrochemical impedence spectroscopy, we proposed the copper redox mechanism of the corrosion and passivation in artificial sea water. The copper redox mechanism showed the dependence of the concentration of oxygen in artificial sea water and electrode potentials.

Investigation of Microwave GaN MESFETs for High-Power and High-Temperature Application (Microwave 대역에서의 고온 및 고출력용 GaN MESFET 소자에 관한 연구)

  • In this report the large-signal RF performance of GaN MESFETs at different operating temperatures is investigated using a harmonic balance modeling technique. The predicted device performance calculated by the large-si anal model of a GaN FET is shown to be in good agreement with experimen tar data. It is demonstrated that the optimal RF performance of a GaN MESFET amplifier is achieved by balancing the input impedence for a optimized de sign. A GaN MESFET with the optimized design is predicted to produce maximum RF output power of about 4W/mm and 1W/mm at room temperature and 773 K, respectively. The device produces a peak Power-Added Efficiency (PAE) of 52% and 32% at the two temperatures.

  • Surface impedance boundary condition(SIBC) concepts are introduced into the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. Lossy conductors are replaced by surface impedance boundary computations reducing the soluton space and producing significant computational savings. Specifically, a surface impedance boundary condition is developed to reduce a lossy dielectric half-space. Since Maxwell's eqations are solved directly, the reflected and transmitted pulse amplitude demonstrate how the reflection and transmision coefficient determine reflected wave amplitude. In this paper, two implementations of reflection coefficient are presented. One implementation is a standard FDTD technique and the other is a FDTD using surface impedence boundary condition(FDTD-SIBC) that are applicabIe over a very large frequency bandwidth. Particulary, an efficient way to transform the time domain results to frequency domain is presented. Thus, frequency domain results are presented in one dimension and are compared with exact results.
