Measurement and Prediction of the Lower flash Point for n-Propanol+n-Decane System Using the Tag Open-Cup Apparatus (Tag 개방식 장치를 이용한 n-Propanol+n-Decane 계의 하부인화점 측정 및 예측)

  • The lower flash points for the n-propanol+n-decane flammable mixture were measured by the Tag open-cup apparatus(ASTM D 1310). The experimental results of mixture exhibited the lower flash point than those of pure component in the flash point versus composition curve. The experimental value of the minimum flash point is $27^{\circ}C$ at a mole fraction of n-propanol of 0.71, and the flash point of n-propanol was $28^{\circ}C$. The experimentally obtained data were compared with the values that had been calculated by use of the prediction model, which assumes an ideal solution, and the flash point prediction models based on the van Laar equation were used to estimate the activity coefficients. The predictive curve based on an ideal solution deviated from the experimental data for this system. The experimental results demonstrate a close agreement with the predicted curves, which used the van Laar equation. The average absolute deviation(A.A.D.) from using the van Lau equation is $0.83^{\circ}C$. The methodology proposed here in this paper can thus be applied to incorporate an inherently safer design for chemical processes, such as determining safe storage and handling conditions for flammable solutions.

Study on the Generalization of the Equivalent Point Method for Thermal Evaluation (Equivalent Point Method의 일반적 이용을 위한 연구)

  • The existence of the equivalent point for a thermal processing system was demonstrated using arbitrarily chosen ideal direct heating curves. i.e. isothermal heating curves at $120^{\circ}C$ for 10min and at $135^{\circ}C$ for 10sec. Under these conditions, G-values and F-values were calculated at various values of Ea- and z-values by applying the Arrhenius and the Bigelow models respectively. The equivalent time and equivalent temperature were determined by both line intersection and linear regression methods. The equivalent points estimated by both the line intersection and the linear regression methods were consistent and their values were the same as the heating time and temperature of the ideal direct heating curves.

  • The main motivation of this article is to generalized the concept of fuzzy ideals, (${\alpha},{\beta}$)-fuzzy ideals, (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q_k$)-fuzzy ideals of semigroups. By using the concept of $q^{\delta}_K$-quasi-coincident of a fuzzy point with a fuzzy set, we introduce the notions of (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q^{\delta}_k$)-fuzzy left ideal, (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q^{\delta}_k$)-fuzzy right ideal of a semigroup. Special sets, so called $Q^{\delta}_k$-set and $[{\lambda}^{\delta}_k]_t$-set, condition for the $Q^{\delta}_k$-set and $[{\lambda}^{\delta}_k]_t$-set-set to be left (resp. right) ideals are considered. We finally characterize different classes of semigroups (regular, left weakly regular, right weakly regular) in term of (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q^{\delta}_k$)-fuzzy left ideal, (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q^{\delta}_k$)-fuzzy right ideal and (${\in},{\in}{\vee}q^{\delta}_k$)-fuzzy ideal of semigroup S.

  • This research studies socio-cultural hegemony change focused on male society through contemporary ideal masculine images of Asian men (especially Korean and Chinese men). Participants were: South Korean men in and around Seoul and Chinese men in Beijing and Shanghai. The youngest survey participants in their 20's and the oldest in their 40's were asked about their present men's appearance images and masculinity as well as asked to evaluate satisfaction with their own style, and interest in fashion trends on a 5-point Likert scale. In this research, an ideal masculinity was tested by 6 characters (traditional masculinity, macho masculinity, androgynous masculinity, adolescent masculinity, trendy masculinity, and general masculinity) as male avatars. Asian men's consciousness of an ideal masculinity image has moved gradually from traditional masculinity to trendy masculinity, leading to new roles in a socio-cultural agenda. Korean and Chinese men are more interested in appearance and notice fashionable styles to be trendy that follow the latest fashion because most other Asian men reflect a traditional masculinity as an ideal appearance image.

  • Three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers are usually designed under the assumption of ideal ac power supply and input inductance. However, non-ideal circuit parameters may lead to a voltage collapse of PWM rectifiers. This paper investigates the mechanism of voltage collapse in three-phase PWM rectifiers. An analytical stability boundary expression is derived by analyzing the equilibrium point of the averaging state space model, which can not only accurately locate the voltage collapse boundary in the circuit parameter domain, but also reveal the essential characteristic of the voltage collapse. Results are obtained and compared with those of the trial-error method and the Jacobian method. Based on the analysis results, the system parameters can be divided into two categories. One of these categories affects the critical point, and other affects only the instability process. Furthermore, an effective control strategy is proposed to prevent a vulnerable system from being driven into the instability region. The analysis results are verified by the experiments.

  • In this note, we shed new light on Krull domains from the point view of Gorenstein homological algebra. By using the so-called w-operation, we show that an integral domain R is Krull if and only if for any nonzero proper w-ideal I, the Gorenstein global dimension of the w-factor ring (R/I)w is zero. Further, we obtain that an integral domain R is Dedekind if and only if for any nonzero proper ideal I, the Gorenstein global dimension of the factor ring R/I is zero.

Repositioning Strategies Following Fast Food Brand Personality (패스트푸드 브랜드 개성에 따른 재포지셔닝 전략)

  • This study attempted to understand the fast food brand personality in the domestic dining market to present the repositioning strategies within the competitive market. Positive analysis results were as follows. First, the five brand individualities of 'familiarity', 'passion', 'professionalism', 'reliability', and 'refinement' were derived. Second, the deductions made on perceptions of the population using a Biplot based on the brand personality showed that there were significant differences among the brand personality images of the brands, which were the targets of comparison. Third, there were significant between-group differences in the comparisons of perception among the subgroups according to gender, brand reliability, and brand satisfaction. Fourth, there were significant between-group differences in the consumer fast food brand preferences and ideal point. Such studies can provide information useful for establishing marketing differentiating strategies by grasping the brand personality of competing brands in the market.

  • The dynamics of phase grating formation with visible light in an optical fiber is investigated. Adopting a simple two-photon local bleaching model, it is shown that the grating self-organize into an ideal grating, where the writing frequency is always in the center of the local band gap, as it evolves. The evolution at each point in the fiber is described in terms of a universal parameter that reduces the coupled partial differential equations describing the system to ordinary differential equatior~s. These equations are used to prove that there exists a fixed point of the grating growth process that corresponds to a perfectly phase-mached grating.

  • The concept of quasi-coincidence of interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy point with an interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy set is considered. By using this idea, the notion of interval valued (α, β)-intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals, (1,2)ideals in a semigroup introduced and consequently, a generalization of interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals and intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals is defined. In this paper, we study the related properties of the interval valued (α, β)-intuitionistic fuzzy bi-ideals, (1,2) ideals and in particular, an interval valued (Є, Є ∨q)-fuzzy bi-ideals and (1,2) ideals in semigroups will be investigated.
