개방 공간에서 발생하는 수소-공기 혼합 가스 폭연에 대한 실험적/해석적 연구 (Experimental and Analytical Study on Hydrogen-air Deflagrations in Open Atmosphere)

  • Experimental and analytical investigations are performed to explore the explosion characteristics of a hydrogen-air mixture in open atmosphere. A hydrogen-air mixture tent of total volume of 27 m3, with 40% hydrogen volume, is used to observe overpressure at a distance from the ignition source. Vapor cloud explosion analyses are performed using the TNO multi-energy model and Baker-Strehlow-Tang model. The results of these analyses are compared with experiment done from this study and references. The experimental results with and without obstacles indicate that the overpressure values measured at a distance of 4.5-21.5 m from the ignition source are about 9.4-3.6 kPa and 6.5-2 kPa, respectively. This implies that the overpressure with obstacles is approximately 1.7 times greater than that without obstacles. Analytical observation indicates that the results obtained with the Baker-Strehlow-Tang model with Mf = 0.2-0.35 are in good agreement with those of most of the previous studies, including that obtained from this study. Moreover, the TNO multi-energy model with a volume of 27 m3 well predicts the overpressure obtained from this study. Further studies should considered explosions in semi-confined spaces, which is more suitable for hydrogen refueling stations.

수소자동차충전소의 수소압축장치 성능평가를 위한 분류체계 및 RCM 전략수립 연구 (A Study on Taxonomy and RCM Strategy Establishment for Performance Evaluation of Hydrogen Compression System at Hydrogen Vehicle Refueling Stations)

  • 현재 국내 수소자동차충전소의 수소압축장치는 사업자의 자체 안전관리규정에 의한 유지관리가 되고 있으나 이는 기술기준이나 공학적 근거에 의한 것이 아니어서 신뢰성에 기반한 수소압축장치 유지관리 기준 수립이 필요하다. 본 고에서는 한국가스기술공사의 수소자동차충전소에서 운영하는 수소압축장치를 대상으로 ISO 14224 표준에 따른 수소압축기 분류체계를 검토하여 9단계의 분류체계를 확립하였고, 이에 대한 FMEA를 실시하여 SAE JA1011 및 SAE JA1012에 규정된 신뢰성중심 유지관리(RCM) 전략을 수립하였다. 수소압축장치 유지관리 분류체계 확립 및 전략수립 결과가 운영중 압축장치 성능검증기준 개발을 위한 기초자료 및 수소압축장치 유지관리기준 수립에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • In this study, economic analysis program was developed for economic evaluation of hydrogen production, storage/delivery, and utilization technologies as well as overseas import of hydrogen. Economic analysis program can be used for the estimation of the levelized cost of hydrogen for hydrogen supply chain technologies. This program include five hydrogen production technology on steam methane reforming and water electrolysis, two hydrogen storage technologies (high compressed gas and liquid hydrogen storage), three hydrogen delivery technologies (compressed gas delivery using tube trailer, liquid hydrogen, and pipeline transportation) and six hydrogen utilization technologies on hydrogen refueling station and stationary fuel cell system. In the case of overseas import hydrogen, it was considered to be imported from five countries (Austraila, Chile, India, Morocco, and UAE), and the transportation methods was based on liquid hydrogen, ammonia, and liquid organic hydrogen carrier. Economic analysis program that was developed in this study can be expected to utilize for planning a detailed implementation methods and hydrogen supply strategies for the hydrogen economy road map of government.

Radiation Exposure Reduction in APR1400

  • The primary contributors to the total occupational radiation exposure in operating nuclear power plants are operation and maintenance activities doting refueling outages. The Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) includes a number of design improvements and plans to utilize advanced maintenance methods and robotics to minimize the annual collective dose. The major radiation exposure reduction features implemented in APR1400 are a permanent refueling pool seal, quick opening transfer tube blind flange, improved hydrogen peroxide injection at shutdown, improved permanent steam generator work platforms, and more effective temporary shielding. The estimated average annual occupational radiation exposure for APR1400 based on the reference plant experience and an engineering judgment is determined to be in the order of 0.4 man-Sv, which is well within the design goal of 1 man-Sv. The basis of this average annual occupational radiation exposure estimation is an eighteen (18) month fuel cycle with maintenance performed to steam generators and reactor coolant pumps during refueling outage. The outage duration is assumed to be 28 days. The outage work is to be performed on a 24 hour per day basis, seven (7) days a week with overlapping twelve (12) hour work shifts. The occupational radiation exposure for APR1400 is also determined by an alternate method which consists of estimating radiation exposures expected for the major activities during the refueling outage. The major outage activities that cause the majority of the total radiation exposure during refueling outage such as fuel handling, reactor coolant pump maintenance, steam generator inspection and maintenance, reactor vessel head area maintenance, decontamination, and ICI & instrumentation maintenance activities are evaluated at a task level. The calculated value using this method is in close agreement with the value of 0.4 man-Sv, that has been determined based on the experience aid engineering judgement. Therefore, with the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) advanced design features incorporated in the design, APR1400 design is to meet its design goal with sufficient margin, that is, more than a factor of two (2), if operated on art eighteen (18) month fuel cycle.

부산시 수소시내버스 보급 활성화 방안 연구 (Plan to Promote the Supply of Hydrogen City Buses in Busan)

  • There are 2,517 buses on 143 routes in Busan. One company is operating 36 hydrogen city buses (1.4%) and two hydrogen charging stations. By 2030, the number of hydrogen city buses will be increased to 500 and 40 hydrogen charging stations. In the survey of city bus companies, 61.5% of respondents answered 'not reviewing (at all)' and 23.0% of respondents '(actively) reviewing hydrogen buses'. And as for the level of help that hydrogen city buses give to bus companies, 23.5% answered 'helpful'. In order to promote the introduction of hydrogen city buses, first, it is necessary to stipulate support for hydrogen bus purchase cost and hydrogen charging station construction cost in related ordinances so that bus companies do not increase their burden of purchasing hydrogen buses in the future. Second, identify the number of new city buses introduced, convert about 50% to hydrogen city buses by the mid-term, and build 50% of the chargers in public garages with hydrogen chargers. Third, expand hydrogen refueling stations in city bus garages.

상태방정식을 이용한 고압수소 저장을 위한 수소 열역학 물성 계산 및 비교 (Calculation and Comparison of Thermodynamic Properties of Hydrogen Using Equations of State for Compressed Hydrogen Storage)

  • One of the technical methods to increase the volumetric energy density of hydrogen is to pressurize the gaseous hydrogen and then contain it in a rigid vessel. Especially for automotive systems, the compressed hydrogen storage can be found in cars as well as at refueling stations. During the charging the pressurized hydrogen into a vessel, the temperature increases with the amount of stored hydrogen in the vessel. The temperature of the vessel should be controlled to be less than a limitation for ensure stability of material. Therefore, the accurate estimation of temperature is of significance for safely storing the hydrogen. In this work, three well-known cubic equations of state (EOSs) were adopted to examine the accuracy in regenerating thermodynamic properties of hydrogen within the temperature and pressure ranges for the compressed hydrogen storage. The formulations representing molar volume, internal energy, enthalpy, and entropy were derived for Redlich-Kwong (RK), Soave-Redlioch-Kwong (SRK), and Peng-Robinson (PR) EOSs. The calculated results using the EOSs were compared with literature data given by NIST. It was revealed that the accuracies of RK and SRK EOSs were satisfactorily compatible and better than the results by PR EOS.

지게차용 DMFC와 리튬배터리 하이브리드시스템의 혼합 적용에 대한 연구 (A Study on a Combined DMFC-Lithium Battery Hybrid System for a Forklift)

  • This paper explains a DMFC-Lithium Battery hybrid system applied to a forklift. A conventional Lead Acid battery forklift has several problems: long charging times, short operation times, and frequent battery replacements. As a result, hydrogen-powered forklifts are replacing Lead acid battery-powered forklifts due to their shorter refueling time and longer operation times. However, in doing so, we are confronted with the problem of a high hydrogen refueling infrastructure. A Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC), on the other hand, is an eco-friendly generator that directly converts the chemical energy of methanol into electricity. In general, DMFC is regarded as a small power generator under kW power. In this paper, a DMFC-Battery hybrid system is applied to a 1.5 ton forklift by increasing the power output of the DMFC stack and utilizing the high charge-discharge characteristics of a lithium battery.

수소에너지에 대한 ISO 표준화 동향과 시사점 (Current Status of Standardization of ISO TC197)

  • Commercial production line of FCEV was built in 2013 by Hyundai and followed by Toyota in 2014, with additional manufacturers planning to enter the market around 2017. Now there is limited hydrogen infrastructure over the world, but more hydrogen stations are planned, particularly in Japan, Korea, Germany, UK and USA. ISO TC 197 which was created in 1990 focused standardization in the field of systems and devices for the production, storage, transport, measurement and use of hydrogen. Total number of published ISO standards related to the TC and its SCs (number includes updates) is 17. Now there are 20 participating countries and 13 observing countries. The current status of activity of ISO TC197 was reviewed and particularly issues on hydrogen quality and hydrogen refueling station were discussed.

  • 본 연구는 수소경제 활성화에 따른 글로벌 수소경제 현황과 현재 사용 중인 에너지원들의 안전성을 분석하였다. 수소경제의 이해와 정부 정책 동향 파악, 기존 사용 에너지인 가솔린, 프로판, 메탄과의 특성 비교 분석 및 정량적 피해영향평가 프로그램인 PHAST를 활용하여 각 에너지원별 피해영향평가를 실시하였다. 분석 결과를 활용해 본 연구는 수소경제 활성화를 위한 수소에너지의 안전성을 분석하고 안전성 제고 방안에 대해 제시하고자 한다.

수소운송설비 안전성 강화 방안 고찰 (A Study on the Safety Enhancement of Hydrogen Tube Trailer)

  • 현재 수소운송설비는 2022년 10월 말 기준 787대가 운행 중이며, Type 1 이음매 없는 용기에 최대 200 bar의 압력으로 1회 최대 340 kg을 운송한다. 현재 안전관리체계 및 설비관리는 양호한 상태이나, 안전성 강화를 위해 제도 및 설비 구조개선이 필요한 실정이다. 이에 따라, 본 논문은 수소에너지 활성화 정책에 의해 수소운송설비 보급·운영의 확대 과정 중 지난 2021년 12월 28일 대전-당진간 고속도로에서 발생한 사고사례를 모사 및 해석을 진행하였으며, 사고 분석 및 해석 결과에 따라 수소운송설비의 안전성 향상 방안에 대해 제언하였다.
