  • This paper presents a new transient overvoltage blocking device (TOBD) for info-communication facilities with low power and high frequency bandwidth. Conventional protection devices have some problems such as low frequency bandwidth, low energy capacity and high remnant voltage. In order to improve these limitations, thehybrid type TOBD, which consists of a gas tube, avalanche diodes and junction typefield effect transistors (JFETs), was designed and fabricated. The TOBD differs from the conventional protection devices in configuration, and JFETs were used as an active non-linear element and a high speed switching diode with low capacitance limits high current. Therefore the avalanche dilde with low energy capacity are protected fromthe high current, and the TOBD has a very small input capacitance. From the performance test using combination surge generator, which can produce $1.2/50\mus\;4.2kV_{max}\; 8/20\mus\; 2.1kA_{max}$, it is confirmed that proposed TOBD has an excellent protection performance in tight clamping voltage and limiting current characteristics.

  • SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) drives require the accurate position information of the rotor. These informations are generally provided by a tacho generator or digital shaft-position encoder These speed sensors lower the system reliability and require special attention to noise. This paper describes a new approach to estimating SRM speed from measured terminal voltages and currents for speed sensorless control. The described method is based on the sliding mode observer. The rotor speed and position observers are estimated by the adaptation law using the real and estimated currents. However, the conventional adaptive sliding mode observer based on the variable structure control theory has some disadvantages that the estimated values including the high-frequency chattering and the steady state error generated due to the infinite feedback gain chosen and the discontinuous control input. To reduce the chattering and steady state error, an integrator is also inserted in the sliding mode observer strategy. The described adaptive sliding mode observer decreases the vibration to the switching hyper-plane of the sliding mode by adding integrator. The described methodology incorporates the Lyapunov algorithm to drive the rotor speed and the stator resistance such that it can overcome the problem of sensitivity in the face of SRM parameter variation. Also, without any mechanical information. The rotor speed of SRM is obtained form adaptive scheme. The described method is verified through the simulation and experiment.

A Study on Variable Speed Generation System with Energy Saving Function

  • This paper presents development of variable speed generation (VSG) system with energy saving function. The rubber tyred gantry crane (RTGC) requires the power from diesel-engine. Significant fuel savings by reducing the engine speed can be achieved, because all of operation modes except hoisting are required lower power than rated value of engine. When low speed operation output voltage of generator is decrease until acceptable range of motor driver inverters and auxiliary load supplier. According to power demand engine speed is varying from 20 to 60Hz, and voltage is varying between 210Vac and 480Vac. When idle mode or low power operation dc/dc converter operates by constant output voltage control and inverters dc site voltage is compensated by it. This paper proposed 3-phase interleaved boost converter which has the same structure as the commercially available 3-phase inverter and current sharing capability. 400kW interleaved converter is designed and a performance of converter is evaluated through several experiments with a RTGC system. Energy saving VSG system can cut down fuel consumption by 36% and 21.3% at idle and unidirectional load operations.

  • Telemetry processing system requires minimum bit transition level in data streams to maintain a bit synchronization while receiving telemetry signal. PN code has a capability of providing the bit transition and is widely used in the packet communication of CCSDS. CCSDS PN code that generator polynomial is $h(x)=x^{8}+x^{7}+x^{5}+x^{3}+1$, and the random bit sequence that is generated from this polynomial is repeated with the cycle of 255 bits. As the resolution of satellite image increases, the size and transmission rate of data increases. To process of huge and bulky size of satellite image, the speed of CCSDS PN Processing is very important. This paper introduces the way of improving the CCSDS PN Processing speed through processing 128 bits at one time using the feature of cyclic structure that repeats after first 255 bytes by grouping the random bit sequence with 1 byte and Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 2. And this paper includes the comparison data of processing speed between SSE2-applied implementation and not-applied implementation, in addition, the measured value of speed improvement.

고속 저잡음 PLL 클럭 발생기 (A High Speed and Low Jitter PLL Clock generator)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중 PFD(Phase Frequency Detector)와 적응 전하펌프 회로를 설계하여 지터 잡음 특성과 주파수 획득 과정을 향상시킨 새로운 PLL 클럭 발생기를 제안한다. 기존의 PLL은 넓은 데드존과 듀티 사이클 특성을 갖고 있기 때문에 지터잡음을 발생하고, 긴 지연시간 때문에 고속 동작에는 부적합하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여, TSPC(True Single Phase Clocking) 회로를 이용하여 다중 구조를 갖는 PFD를 설계하였다. 데드존 특성, 듀티 사이클의 제한조건을 개선할 수 있도록 회로를 설계하였으며, 탁월한 지터잡음 성능을 향상시킬 수 있었다. 또한 적응 전하펌프 회로를 사용하여 PLL을 설계하였으며 루프필터의 전하펌프 전류를 증가시킴으로써 주파수 획득 특성을 개선 할 수 있었다. Hspice 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과, 제안한 PLL은 데드존이 0.01ns 미만이고, 입력신호의 듀티 사이클에 무관하며, 50ns의 빠른 획득시간을 갖는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 제안된 회로는 고성능 마이크로프로세서 및 디지털시스템에 적용될 수 있다.

  • 본 연구는 최근 다양화, 대규화 되어가는 IoT시스템을 위한 시험기 개선에 관한 것으로 IoT성능시험기의 패킷 처리 성능개선, 트래픽 프로토콜 생성과 동작에 유연성을 확보하는 방안에 대한 것이다. 본 연구의 목표는 고도화되어 가는 대용량 IoT 네트워크 시스템에서 데이터 트래픽 전송의 안정성을 사전에 검증하고 성능을 측정하는 개방형 소프트웨어인 DPDK기반 고속 IoT 네트워크 성능시험 시스템을 설계하는 것이다. DPDK 기반 트래픽 발생기를 이용하여 고속 IoT 성능시험기의 기본 구성을 설계하였으며 실험을 통해 해당 시스템 적용시 트래픽 모델링하고 패킷생성능력의 기대효과를 제시하였다.

Stochastic Channel Modeling for Railway Tunnel Scenarios at 25 GHz

  • More people prefer using rail traffic for travel or for commuting owing to its convenience and flexibility. The railway scenario has become an important communication scenario in the fifth generation era. The communication system should be designed to support high-data-rate demands with seamless connectivity at a high mobility. In this paper, the channel characteristics are studied and modeled for the railway tunnel scenario with straight and curved route shapes. On the basis of measurements using the "Mobile Hotspot Network" system, a three-dimensional ray tracer (RT) is calibrated and validated for the target scenarios. More channel characteristics are explored via RT simulations at 25.25 GHz with a 500-MHz bandwidth. The key channel parameters are extracted, provided, and incorporated into a 3rd-Generation-Partnership-Project-like stochastic channel generator. The necessary channel information can be practically realized, which can support the link-level and system-level design of the communication system in similar scenarios.

하이브리드 타입 초소형 가스터빈엔진 개발 및 초도 시운전 (Preliminary Study of Hybrid Micro Gas Turbine Engine)

  • In this study, a 2W micro-gas turbine engine was designed using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, and experimental investigations of its potential under actual combustion conditions were performed. A micro-gas turbine (MGT) contains a turbo-charger, combustor, and generator. Compressor and turbine blades, and generator coil were manufactured using MEMS technology. The shaft was supported by a precision computer numerical control (CNC) machined static air bearing, and a permanent magnet was attached to the end of the shaft for generation. A heat transfer analysis found that the cooling effect of the air bearing and compressor was sufficient to cover the combustor's high temperature, which was verified in an actual experiment. The generator performance test showed that it can generate 2W at design rotational speed. Prototype micro-gas turbine generated maximum 1 mW electric power and lasted up to 15 minutes.

도로용 발전장치 최적화 설계를 위한 수치해석 (A Numerical Analysis for Optimal Design of Road Generator System)

  • 본 연구에서는 도로용 발전장치 최적화 설계를 위해 실험과 수치해석을 다루었으며, 도로용 발전장치는 패드, 축, 토셔널 댐퍼, 일방향 클러치, 기어, 발전기 등의 여러 가지 기계요소를 포함한다. 본 수치해석은 도로용 발전장치의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 개발되었으며 소프트웨어에 의하여 이론적으로 계산된 결과값을 사용하여 최적화 설계의 변수인자를 결정하게 된다. 이러한 변수는 장치의 용량, 길이, 각도 등이며, 차량의 운전상태에 따라서 토오크, 출력 및 생성된 에너지값 등의 결과값을 비교하여, 도로용 발전장치를 설계하기 전 수치해석을 통해 제안된 개념과 시스템이 효율성과 신뢰성을 갖도록 한다.

풍력용 동기발전기의 전기자 반작용을 이용한 전기 제동방식에 관한 연구 (A study on electronic braking system using wind power synchronous generator's armature reaction)

  • The mechanical parts of small windp ower generator less than 10kW are manufactured in the form of removing most of the accelerators. The braking system to protect blade from damages caused by high wind speed is manufactured in a manner having apparatus system(furling), manual brake or no brake. This study is on braking system in small size wind power generator, and carried out survey as following steps by applying electric braking system which uses armature reaction. We explained the principle of electric braking system and the principle of existing braking system. Also, this paper interpreted short circuit current through open circuit and short circuit, as well as checking brake system's action using armature reaction with real construction of control device.
