In this study, bacterial communities within the guts of several longicorn beetles were investigated by a culture-dependent method. A total of 142 bacterial strains were isolated from nine species of longicorn beetle, including adults and larvae. A comparison of their partial 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that most of the bacteria constituting the gut communities can typically be found in soil, plants and the intestines of animals, and approximately 10% were proposed as unreported. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the bacterial species comprised 7 phyla, and approximately half were Gammaproteobacteria. Actinobacteria were the second most populous group (19%), followed by Firmicutes (13%) and Alphaproteobacteria (11%). Betaproteobacteria, Flavobacteria, and Acidobacteria were minor constituents. The taxonomic compositions of the isolates were variable according to the species of longicorn beetle. Particularly, an abundance of Actinobacteria existed in Moechotypa diphysis and Mesosa hirsute, which eat broadleaf trees; however, no Actinobacteria were isolated from Corymbia rubra and Monochamus alternatus, which are needle-leaf eaters. Considerable proportions of xylanase and pectinase producing bacteria in the guts of the longicorn beetles implied that the bacteria may play an important role in the digestion of woody diets. Actinobacteria and Gammaproteobacteria were the dominant xylanase producers in the guts of the beetles.

The fungal genus Alternaria is comprised of many saprophytic and endophytic species, but is most well known as containing many notoriously destructive plant pathogens. There are over 4,000 Alternaria/host associations recorded in the USDA Fungal Host Index ranking the genus 10th among nearly 2,000 fungal genera based on the total number of host records. While few Alternaria species appear to have a sexual stage to their life cycles, the majority lack sexuality altogether. Many pathogenic species of Alternaria are prolific toxin producers, which facilitates their necrotrophic lifestyle. Necrotrophs must kill host cells prior to colonization, and thus these toxins are secreted to facilitate host cell death often by triggering genetically programmed apoptotic pathways or by directly causing cell damage resulting in necrosis. While many species of Alternaria produce toxins with rather broad host ranges, a closely-related group of agronomically important Alternaria species produce selective toxins with a very narrow range often to the cultivar level. Genes that code for and direct the biosynthesis of these host-specific toxins for the Alternaria alternata sensu lato lineages are often contained on small, mostly conditionally dispensable, chromosomes. Besides the role of toxins in Alternaria pathogenesis, relatively few genes and/or gene products have been identified that contribute to or are required for pathogenicity. Recently, the completion of the A. brassicicola genome sequencing project has facilitated the examination of a substantial subset of genes for their role in pathogenicity. In this review, we will highlight the role of toxins in Alternaria pathogenesis and the use of A. brassicicola as a model representative for basic virulence studies for the genus as a whole. The current status of these research efforts will be discussed.
TV has a very strong influence on various aspects of children's life and development. In view of this influence, various problems related to the content and production of TV programs for early - childhood deserve a careful study. Recognizant of this significance, this study aims to suggest the direction in which the production of TV programs for early childhood in Korea will steer by defining the concept of TV programs for early childhood and by analyzing the current status and trends of producting TV program for early childhood at abroad. In this study, attempts were made to suggest some strategies for the production of TV programs for early childhood based on an expansive literature review. 1. The running time of TV programs for early-childhood ages of 4-5 year old is suggested to be 15 minutes. 2. In the process of producing the programs, a group of professionals including in-service teachers, researchers specializing in child development, psychology and sociology, idea-creators, script writers, media experts, producers, and monitors should provide concerted efforts throughout the process. 3. The running time of TV programs for early-childhood should be less than 20 minutes and therefore should have simple learning objectives. 4. The contents of programs should be organized in such a way as to enable children to view themselves as well as the environment in more positive ways and to fester desirable values and beliefs in them based on various constructive activities and plays. 5. The programs should adopt various techniques including repetition, to ensure the maximum learning effect in full consideration of children's interest. 6. The programs should be continuously revised and supplemented based on the evaluation of the programs, children's responses and monitor's feedbacks.
The purpose of this study was to improve consumer sleeping life in quality and to suggest producers meet new consumer needs and demands, by examining the nationwide use of bedding, analyzing consumer sleeping life by category and age group, comparing the results with the findings of the nationwide studies by Sung Su-kwang (1992) and Lee Song ja (1995), and identifying the major trend of consumer sleeping life. Results and Discussion The findings of this study were as below: 1. The General Characteristics of the Subjects : Most of the housewives investigated were in their 30s and 40s, with 41.7% and 50.8% respectively. 2. Bedroom : When it comes to bedroom style, 47.8% put beds in their rooms with the Korean under-floor heating system, and 45.4% didn't place beds in their rooms with the same heating system. 3. The Purchase of Bedding : 49.0%, approximately half the homemakers, bought their current bed-clothes at bedding shops, and just 3.2% made them on their own at home. 4. The Use of Bedclothes : In summer, yam (flax, ramie fabric) and a single-layer bed sheet (41.9%) were in use most, followed by a single-layer quilt (34.5%). 5. Bedding Management The most common frequency of bedding disinfection by sunning was once a month (29.4%), followed by once per two weeks (23.9%) and once a week (19.0%) in the order named.
There are two aspects of digital trade: the digitalisation of goods/services being traded and the digitalisation of the transactional act. Digital data (i.e. machine-readable industrial data and transactional data) is the major driving force for both aspects of digital trade. Digital data is a non-rivalrous input, whether for production or marketing activities, and is thus able to be used by many firms or government agencies without limiting the use of others. Digital platforms provide online infrastructure for the interactions between groups, for instance, consumers and producers. The externality effect refers to the situation in which prosperity in one group on a given platform will improve the returns of other groups on the same platform. In the era of the data-driven economy, strategic trade policy can involve data-related policies. The major objective of these policies is to improve the competitiveness of domestic firms. For instance, firms may be subsidised if they use cloud services provided by specific platforms. This strand of strategic trade policies might be useful for increasing the competitiveness of small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) via the digitalisation of production/marketing processes. Alternatively, strategic trade policy may also exploit the externality effect via platform economy-related policies. Further, some countries may form data coalitions to facilitate cross-border data flow. This paper uses cases in Asian countries to illustrate which role these strategic trade policies can play in the digital economy.
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3) and ecosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3) have attracted increasing attention since the first epidemiological report on the importance of n-3 essential fatty acids. It is thought that DHA has important functions in brain and retinal tissues. Thraustochytrids, a group of marine protists, are capable of heterotrophic growth, and are potential omega-3 producers for industrial use, especially the members of the Schizochytrium and Thraustochytrium genera. The aims of this work were to isolate, identify and screen thraustochytrids from 17 different locations. Twenty-three isolates were screened for biomass, total fatty acid (TFA) and DHA content. Analysis of the fatty acid methyl esters revealed four distinct clusters biomass ranged from $8.68-9.36gL^{-1}$, and lipid and DHA contents ranged from $3.11-4.10gL^{-1}$ and $1.05-1.93gL^{-1}$ biomass, respectively. B-12 isolates were screened for biomass ($9.36gL^{-1}$), TFA ($4.10gL^{-1}$) and DHA (47.01%, w/w) content. C-6 isolates were also screened for biomass ($8.92gL^{-1}$), TFA ($3.30gL^{-1}$) and DHA (49.41%, w/w) content. The 18S rRNA gene sequencing results identified Schizochytrium mangrovei as B-12 and Crypthecodium cohnii as C-6.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate inhibitory activity of a bacteriocin mixture from lactic acid bacteria(LAB) against foodborne pathogens. Each bacteriocin solutions were prepared by growing nine strains of bacteriocin producers in MRS broth for 18~24 h followed by centrifugation(8000$\times$g, 20 min, 4$^{\circ}C$). Bacteriocins were purified from ammonium sulfate precipitation and were resuspended in 50 mM phosphate buffer(pH 7.0). Nine bacteriocins were mixed together and then allowed to freeze at -2$0^{\circ}C$. The mixture of nine bacteriocins showed enhanced inhibitory activity compared to each of bacteriocins and inhibited the Gram negative pathogens including Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas chlororaphis and Shigella sonnei. The mixture of bacteriocin solutions was significantly lower than controls when a freeze-dried bacteriocin mixture was added to frank sausage, Mozzarella cheese and pork loin. With addition of bacteriocin mixture, total mesophilic bacteria in pork loin were constant over storage period, whereas total mesophilic bacteria in Mozzarella cheese and frank sausang slightly increased. Total viable cells of control group increased during storage without bacteriocin treatment. Volatile base nitrogen content of pork loin during storage also increased significantly without bacteriocin treatment. The bacteriocin mixture was capable of inhibiting pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms and extending the shelf-life of cheese and meat products during storage.

In modern socity, online communication plays a vital role in social interaction of communicities. It is so common for online users to see display advertisements online while surting the Net. Specifically, most web banners diaplayed on portral sites consist of words, phrase, and sentences. Considering that the primary purpose of adversiting is persuation, the advertisement such as web banners is an examplary case to show the interaction among pragmatics, translation and advertising because the linguistic expressions employed in the banners represent its pragmatic use, leading to persuation and functioning as a communicative tool for the smooth communication between source text producers (adversisers) and target audience (online users). This can be part of the so-called translation process. In particular, we can easily witness the use of English words in web banners. Thus, this paper looks at web banners displayed on major four portal sites-Naver, Daum, Nate, and Zum, giving a special attention to the content contained in the web banners as well as the use of English words. As s result, we found that the frequencies of English words in each portal site were higher when the advertised products were targeting young online users, whereas the frequencies were lower when the users are older group than young people. The finding supports the prgramatic perspective that linguistic expressions are understood in social contexts and shows the so-called translation process which involves a shift from semantic meaning of words to their pragmatic use. Finally, we can conclude that the interaction is possible when we have the framework where translation, pragmatics, and advertising are all communitative components for social interaction within social contexts.
A survey on the understanding of environment-friendly certification system was conducted for certified operators. The survey included the necessity of certification system, difficulties in producing certified products, and general evaluation of the current certification system. Certified operators were generally satisfied with the certification system in terms of the certification standards, the public subsidy programs, and the farm management costs. Individuals with parallel production farms were relatively less satisfied than the group with full-time organic farmers. Analysis using the ranking probit model indicated that the longer the certification experience, the more highly aware the need for the certification system was. Our results indicated that policy strategies are needed to enlarge the marketability of environment-friendly agricultural products since economic factors of organic products were the most important factor for maintaining and expanding certification in overseas as well as in Korea. It seems to be necessary to implement economic triggers for certified operators to continue their certification programs by promoting the transition period certification for individual farms in parallel with conventional agriculture. Analysis of the variables correlated with the expansion of environment-friendly agriculture by the logit model implied that certified operators with the younger age and higher annual incomes were more likely to expand environment-friendly agriculture. Therefore, it might also be important to provide financial support and incentives for new entry farmers to participate in environment-friendly agriculture and establish a system to share the know-how of successful certified organic farmers.
