The change of the developed countries to highly technological societies continuously requires that they nurture and use the full potential of mathematically and scientifically talented people. As this is a process that should start early in order to be efficient, the main responsibility of identifying and addressing the specific needs of these people is assigned to public school systems and, in particular, to elementary teachers. In this regard, three significant areas of concern arise and are discussed in this paper: (a) The complexity in identifying mathematically promising and mathematically talented elementary students; (b) The highly responsible and difficult task for elementary teachers to differentiate and serve the mathematically promising students within an inclusive classroom; and (c) The need of teachers with specialized training and mathematics knowledge in pre-high school grades. The last one should be considered predominantly as a logical consequence of the first two. The main goal and, hence, the purpose of the paper is to promote understanding of this crucial necessity of mathematics specialists and to advocate for a change in this direction.
This paper deals with factors discriminating mathematically gifted and non-gifted students. Discussion of some characteristics of mathematically gifted students is done in the first session. Several factors distinguish mathematically gifted from the non-gifted students. High mathematical creativity, high intelligence and opinion of teachers are some of the key factors that can be used for discriminating mathematically gifted and non-gifted students. Research studies have revealed that cognitive as well as affective factors will enhance giftedness. In this study the investigator wishes to look in detail about the characteristics of mathematically gifted students and how they can be identified. Anyway, teachers can change environmental factors and maximum outcome of giftedness can be ensured."

This study investigated a case of a gifted Saudi student, X, who was early detected through Mawhiba (The Saudi Institution of Gifted) when he was eight years old. Then, the journey continued until he became a Tamayuz member and received a scholarship in 2022 to pursue his bachelor's at one of the prestige, high-ranking universities in the USA to study Mathematics and Economics. Lack of information about the status of Saudi verbal gifted maked X case a model to explore the roles of Mawhiba's programs in supporting Saudi verbal giftedness in general and particularly in learning the English language, plus seeking the opportunities Mawhiba provided for Saudi verbal gifted to enrich their giftedness in the English language through providing extended social networking and finally stating the sample's perspective about the opportunities and services Mawhiba provided him. The three core instruments to accumulate elaboration and interpret qualitative and quantitative data were academic records, writing samples, family observation, and a written interview.
In this study, the test that were used in entrance examination for chemistry class in a Science-Gifted Education Center for middle school students were analyzed by using criteria for identification and measurement of scientific giftedness and a classical test theory. The result of analysis exhibited that most of problems measured more than two elements of scientific giftedness and required applications of scientific knowledge of middle school level to solve problems. In the analysis of sub-elements of scientific giftedness, originality, fluency in creativity and finding problems/formulating hypothesis, planning inquiry, interpreting data in science process skills were dominant while drawing conclusion and generalization processes were lacking. In correlation analysis between total score and each type of problems, total score was most influenced by the problems measuring science inquiry linked with scientific knowledge. Item difficulty is moderately high and item discrimination is moderate.
Based on the qualitative analysis, 4 factors of dance giftedness were operationally defined and test items were initially developed accordingly. The preliminary test data obtained from 206 dancers was analyzed, using item analysis and a series of reliability analyses. In order to dancer the construct validity, four exploratory factor analyses were conducted for 54 items, resulting in 20 items of 4 factors; physique, dance attitude Expressiveness and creativity, movement ability. A confirmatory factor analysis conducted for 292 dancers to test the goodness-of-fit of 4 factor model revealed a satisfactory level of $x^2$, Q, root mean square residual(RMR), goodness of fit index(GFI), Tucker-Lewis index(TLI), comparative fit index(CFI), root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA). The concurrent and cross validity indices proved the validity of 20 items of 4 factors.
This study searched the perception of observational evaluation system in visual art which elementary and middle school teachers have in mind. As results, observational evaluation system in visual art is widely accepted as important and efficient to diagnose the artistic giftedness. At the same time, subjectiveness of the system might be advantageous for student for whom teacher get favor and in-service program related to observational evaluation system is insufficient comparing to the demand from field. In spite of this, the scale for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance are recognized as the most important and needed tools for evaluating artistic giftedness. Following the results, in order to raise up the validity and reliability of evaluation in visual art, the scales for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance should be developed first and foremost.
The purposes of this study were to develop and validate Korean MHBT for identification of giftedness. MHBT in this study consists of KFT-HB and MHBT-5. MHBT-S was composed of 1) space presentation and thinking ability, space perception,. physics/technic tasks 2) affective domain; creativity, achievement motivation, desire of knowledge, social competence questionnaire 3) performance attitude questionnaire 4) interest questionnaire. The subject were 489 middle school students (1 or 2grade) in the education centers for gifted youth and general classes. Except a few subscales, internal consistent reliability was considered good. Korean MHBT discriminated well gifted students from general students in KFT-HB and some subtests of MHBT-5. As results, Korean MHBT in this study was expected to be a reliable and valid instrument for identification of korean gifted students.
The purpose of this study was to compare the 5 OEs of Korean gifted elementary and middle school students and non-gifted, and to find out the gender differences and level of school differences to clarify the possibility of identification instrument of giftedness based on the 5 OEs as the affective factor of giftedness. Total subjects were 270 in this study. Among them, gifted group were 74, and non-gifted group were 196. Boys were 202, and girls were 168. Elementary students were 34, middle school students were 40 within the gifted group. OEQII (Kim, 2008) were modified and used for elementary students. The result of this study were as follows. First, the level of 5 OEs of gifted students was significantly higher than non-gifted students. Second, gender differences were found. Total OEs and sensory OE and emotional OE of girls were significantly higher than boys'. Third, there were significant interaction effects among gifted and non-gifted and gender factor in total OEs and psychomotor OE and sensory OE. Fourth, there was no significantly differences of 5 OEs between elementary and middle school gifted students, which may be interpreted that OEs were consistent affective factors of giftedness. OEs were discussed as the possibility of identification instrument of giftedness.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the conceptions toward ICT in students who are currently enrolled in giftedness in invention classes. A total of 147 students at the junior and high school level responded to a 33 item questionnaire. Results show that these students consider ICT as very important and that it will become more important in the future. They also indicated that they frequently use ICT in their studies and also in their work. But a majority of the students considered their level of expertise in the ICT area as 'moderate', and their application of the programs as 'elementary'. Thus it can be assumed that these students did not have enough opportunity to learn ICT related skills. These students also expressed the desire to receive systematic instructions in the ICT area beginning from simple application to program development. The students thought that ICT skills need to be incorporated into the invention education to lead to better inventions. Considering the fact that the ICT area is becoming increasingly important and that Korea is considered a representative country in ICT, the reality of ICT education does not stand up to expectations, and the creative software development capacity is relatively low. Therefore, there is a need to incorporate ICT contents into the education for the giftedness in invention classes, and also to form connections with software development and invention education.
According to Torrance, it is said that about 30% of feeble-headed children are bearing potential brilliant quality. Such potential gifted children exist really much more than children who appear to show their own brilliant quality. Nevertheless, research activity to reveal children's potential giftedness has not been relatively actively progressed. Renzulli, Smith and so on progresses research activity to reveal children's potential giftedness and strategies developed by them are being used widely all over the world, but these strategies show the defect that children can not overcome by themselves the interfered factors influenced negatively on their gift revelation. Russian scholar Babaeva made the effective education program to develop children's potential giftedness. Her program includes various activity methods or mental correct activity and psychological training activity and such training activity is realized through some steps and each step has it's own purpose and realization method. With the result that children discriminated as common children by the experimental study which is progressed by the present program participate, their standard of intelligence and originality showed the improved effect of the similar standard to children factors not a little influencing on children's giftedness development process but she also developed the leading concrete study method for the children to overcome this by themselves. In this paper, the present writer will examine potential giftedness development program researched in Russia and discuss their theoretic background and concrete activity course, activity result. Through this, children's have the excellent abilities in various spheres, this writer will obtain significant suggestions to educate the potential gifted children who do not display their own potentialities and do not receive a favor from gifted children program.
