  • The purpose of this study is to devise a model of career decision in the science-gifted by exploring factors of having influence upon career decision in the science-gifted undergraduates of our country, and by examining pattern and path of career decision. By suggesting a model of structure, which synthetically considered factors of parents (parental social support), school (stress of college life, adjustment to college life), and individual characteristics(problem solving ability, career decision-making self-efficacy, conviction for major selection)as for career decision in the science-gifted undergraduates through this study, the aim was to arrange the theoretical frame for career in the science-gifted undergraduates. The research subjects were 93(class of 2007~2009) students who completed education in 2002 and 2003 at the gifted education center affiliated with University, and 264 scholarship students(class of 2005-2008) by the President at home and abroad, who are receiving scholarship by being selected as a science scholarship student by the incumbent President. The measurement tools, which were used in this study for collecting data, are test of parental social support, test of problem-solving ability, test of stress in college life, test of adjustment to college life, test of efficacy in career decision, and test of having confidence in selecting a major. For statistical analysis of the collected data, SPSS Program and AMOS Program were used. As a result, the model showed a good fit to the present data in the science-gifted undergraduates, TLI=.928, CFI=.941, RMSEA=.059. It was confirmed to be a model that is accepted in the group of the science-gifted undergraduates. Also, hypotheses, which were established on the basis of a theoretical quest, could be known to have been all adopted except one path. The results of this study can be offered as basic data for developing program and implementing a system in order to broaden the width of understanding about career and to help the career decision in the science-gifted.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop learning materials and teaching model for the gifted, and to examine the improvement of creativity of them in middle schools. Subjects were 126 gifted students, who were the 7th or 8th graders and have been taught in gifted classes of the adjacent Education Institute for the gifted of Boryeong Education Districts, Chungnam Province Office Of Education. Divisions of gifted Classes were logical reasoning, mathematics, foreign language, science. After the instruction of project-based task, gifted students had improved creativity. Especially, instruction using project-based task was more effective on scientifically gifted students. Most gifted students were satisfied with the instruction using project-based task, and attractive in it. Finally, it was suggested that the instruction using project-based task should be actively used for the gifted students.

  • A new teaching-learning method is needed to improve creative problem-solving ability of the gifted students at mathematics. In response to this demand, I applied mentor-project studying to the mathematically gifted class students of Chungnam Science High School. The purpose of this monograph is to analyze in what situations they demonstrated mathematical creativity and whether the interactions among the gifted in the process of studying were of great help toward improving creativity. The effectiveness of mentor-project studying was especially verified by the analysis of creative problem-solving test results.

  • This study try to analyze feature of model creation and model developing process for gifted students and the activity of students and teachers affected those processes in scientific model constructing class for phase change of moon. For this, I teach scientific model constructing class for science gifted students. I shoot video and record the voice for whole class and each group activity, have a face-to-face talk for selected group members, analyze the paper of activities. I reconstruct model creation and model developing process for each groups and each students, draw a influence that activity aspects of the students and role of the teacher affected modelling process based on those data. After analyzing, I find that discussion in the group contribute model creation and model developing process and developing process of each model changed according to the similarity between target model and first model. The more the students actively participate group activities, the more first model is diversified and final model is more elaborated. Also, the teacher influence model creation and developing process.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze on the differences in perceptions of teachers and students for teaching and learning of the gifted in the elementary invention. The results are as follows. First, the result appears that although the majority of teachers & students are spontaneously joining in that learning course due to lots of interest, the response rate for how to come in that learning course has been higher in the case of a male teacher being obligatory and female students being recommend by their teacher or parents. Second, the teachers who take disjunction of teaching and learning think that they are dealing with the basic knowledge or necessity of the invention and the content of a class for how to create a clever idea. However, it has analysed that phenomenon of estrangement for teaching & learning occur because students meaningfully recognize that learning arise less than the recognition from teaching teacher statistically. Third, it has analysed that the intention of teaching from teachers such as, evaluation, debate, and presentation is not well reflected in student's learning. Finally, it has shown that the class satisfaction from students and teachers is generally higher. Hence, in order to minimize the phenomenon of estrangement, it needs to understand the interaction between teaching and learning. Moreover a variety of teaching methods should be studied to facilitate learning and systematically manage a invention of the gifted education efficiently.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of a Goldberg device learning program on primary gifted students' creative personality. Based on the concept of creative personality derived from a literature review, a learning program has been developed and applied to 18 primary gifted class students and 20 invention club students. Creative personality consists of eight components: patience/persistence, confidence, humor, curiosity, imagination, openness, adventurous spirits, and independence. Creative personality tests were conducted before and after Goldberg device learning program lessons. The results of the tests indicate that (1) the Goldberg device learning program affected all eight components of creative personality positively; and (2) the invention club students showed a greater improvement in creative personality than the gifted class students. These findings suggest that Goldberg device learning programs can be effective to learn various scientific principles and improve students' creative personality.

  • In order to foster talented people needed for the 4th Industrial Revolution, learner-centered classes that meet the characteristics and needs of students are needed. In particular, the learner-centered student-active class is more meaningful for gifted students who have diverse needs and interests. In order to meet these demands, this study developed a learner-centered science gifted education teaching-learning model based on flipped learning, and analyzed various results revealed after applying the developed program to the gifted class. Based on the results, we proposed a plan for more efficient operation of future learner-centered science gifted education programs.

  • The purposes of this study is to identify the professional knowledge of the three elementary teachers for science-gifted students in teaching method. All teachers have received in-service program in gifted education, and have been recommended by their colleagues. Two teachers have instructed the gifted for more than five years, one teacher have instructed the gifted for one year and the general students for eleven years. For for this study, each teacher's lesson plans were collected, videotapes were recorded during lessons, and in-depth interview for each participant were conducted. All recoded data were transcribed and analyzed. Some unique characteristics of teaching method for the gifted were identified from the class instruction of participants. They had knowledge of teaching model for the gifted, especially Renzulli's three pod enrichment model. And they mainly used the materials developed by KEDI for the gifted. Also they had capability to be able to reconstruct them, but their lesson plans did not be realized well in their class. Some implications from findings of this study were suggested, such as teaching methods to improve the quality in the classes of the gifted in science.
