This is a literature study about the concept of 'Division into Equal Parts' in middle school geometry. First, we notice that the concept of the division into equal parts in middle school geometry is given in four themes, which are those of line segments, angles, arches and areas. Second, we investigate and analyse the historical backgrounds of these four kinds of divisions into equal parts. Third, the possibility of extension in terms of method and concept was researched. Through the result of this study, we suggest that it is desirable to use effective utility of history in mathematical teaching and learning in middle school.
The teaching-learning methods of figures using computers make loose the difficulties of geometry education from the viewpoint that the abstract figures can be visualized and that by means of this visualization the learning can be accomplished through the direct experience or control. In this thesis, we present a teaching-learning method of figures using Cabri II so that the learners establish their knowledge obtained through their search, investigation, supposition and they accomplish the positive transition to advanced 1earning. So the learners extend their ability of sensuous intuition to their ability of logical reasoning through their logical intuition.

Modern technology offers many ways to enhance teaching and learning that in turn promote the development of tools for educational activities both inside and outside the classroom. Many educational programs using the augmented reality (AR) technology are being widely used to provide supplementary learning materials for students. This paper describes the potential and challenges of using GeoGebra AR in mathematical studies, whereby students can view 3D geometric objects for a better understanding of their structure, and verifies the feasibility of its use based on experimental results. The GeoGebra software can be used to draw geometric objects, and 3D geometric objects can be viewed using AR software or AR applications on mobile phones or computer tablets. These could provide some of the required materials for mathematical education at high schools or universities. The use of the GeoGebra application for education in Laos will be particularly discussed in this paper.

The purpose of this study is to lay the groundwork for effectively supporting mathematics learning for multi-cultural students by enhancing understanding of the cultural background regarding mathematics. In order to attain these purposes, this study compared to learning contents, deployment of contents, teaching method of the Korean and Vietnamese elementary mathematics textbooks. According to analysis, Vietnamese textbooks emphasize mathematical rigor and logic over Korean textbooks, and it integrate learning contents from various areas according to mathematical relevance. But Vietnamese textbooks do not present the connection between mathematical content, such as the combination, symmetry, and coverage of shapes. While Korean textbooks use teaching method that students find and define the concept of shapes themselves, Vietnamese textbooks present concepts of shapes and let students to learn about them. From this result, this study presented suggestions for supporting mathematics learning for multi-cultural students.
It has been always the issue to discuss 'how we teach mathematics' for the mathematical learning. As for an answer to this, it was suggested to use the history of mathematics. The reason is simple that is, the education of mathematics requires to understand mathematics and to know the history of mathematics is effective for mathematical understanding. In particular, the history of algebra was discussed to some extent as an illustration. This study focuses on the history of geometry from this point of view. We review the history of geometry by comparison in terms of three criteria from the origin of geometry to modem differential geometry in the middle of the 20th century, which are backgrounds (inner or outer ones), characterizations (approach, method, object), influences to modem mathematics. As an application of such historical data to the education of mathematics, we pose the problem to determine the order of instruction in mathematics.
This study looked at the deviation of each textbook, focusing on the detailed learning content related to the quadratic curve properties contained in high school geometry textbooks. Rather than criticizing the diversity of content elements covered in high school geometry textbooks and suggesting alternatives, it focused on analyzing the actual conditions of content element diversity. The curriculum specifies that the practical application of the quadratic curve should be emphasized so that student could recognize the usefulness and value. However, as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the purpose of the curriculum and the structure of the textbook did not match somewhat, the deviation of content elements for each textbook was quite large. In terms of acknowledging the diversity of teaching and learning, the diversity of each textbook on the methods of the introduction and the natures related to the quadratic curve can be fully recognized. But in our educational reality, which is aiming for the university entrance examination system through national evaluation such as CSAT, the results are too sensitive in society as a whole, so the diversity of expressions in mathematics textbooks is sometimes interpreted as a disadvantage of evaluation. It is time to reconsider the composition of textbooks that recognizes the diversity of content elements in textbook teaching and learning and at the same time reflects the aspect of equality in evaluation.
This study deals with the problem of proof education in the middle school geometry bby examining van Hiele#s geometric thought level theory and Freudenthal#s mathematization teaching theory. The implications that have been revealed by examining the theory of van Hie이 and Freudenthal are as follows. First of all, the proof education at present that follows the order of #definition-theorem-proof#should be reconsidered. This order of proof-teaching may have the danger that fix the proof education poorly and formally by imposing the ready-made mathematics as the mere record of proof on students rather than suggesting the proof as the real thought activity. Hence we should encourage students in reinventing #proving#as the means of organization and mathematization. Second, proof-learning can not start by introducing the term of proof only. We should recognize proof-learning as a gradual process which forms with understanding the meaning of proof on the basic of the various activities, such as observation of geometric figures, analysis of the properties of geometric figures and construction of the relationship among those properties. Moreover students should be given this natural ground of proof.
There have been a few mathematic education programs that based on operating activity considering cognitive development level of elementary student, although we can find a variety of computer-aided mathematic teaching methods for elementary school. The purpose of this paper was to examine the effect of mathematical program based on operating activity developed as teaching materials in plain figures. As results of the post-achievement test and attitude test, it was found that the math program has been improved the achievement positively. By a result that inspects mathematical learning attitude of the experiment group, it was found that variable factors such as interest, confidence, self-learning were changed significantly more important in statistics.

This research is about storytelling in middle school geometry. This study is basic research about actualizing mathematical teaching and learning based on storytelling that is raised for reforming school mathematics education. In order to develop the mathematics textbook model, development of procedures and methods were extracted from the literature. And mathematics textbook model were developed in accordance with the process and methods. Examples are presented in terms of the development of material with 'story as a communication tool', 'familiar story as a script' 'universality of the world or simulation of life as a story', 'story as a means to foster creativity: story making'. Through the results of this study, we are also able to check the possibility of storytelling in mathematics class. And this study will be the foundation for teaching and learning using storytelling.
In 2006 with the revised national curriculum, Elementary mathematics teaching and learning methods are presented in the following ways. Learners explore the way through the operational activities of the teachers and students with learning and learners' active learning activities, etc., and an active learning based on the principle of attention to learning how to maximize the effectiveness are required. In this study, from first grade through sixth grade elementary school mathematics textbooks for all learning activities presented in 10 different types were investigated This result of 5 contents area of number and operation, geometry, probability and statistics, measurement and patterns and problem solving and divided into low, middle, and hight three were intentional. In addition, teachers are looking forward to this result was compared with the type of activity.
