A Study of Learner-Centered Participatory Activities and Learner Satisfaction Using a 4-Cut Cartoon Creation in College Liberal Arts English Classes

  • This study proposes learner participatory activities for learner-centered college liberal arts classes. In addition, it analyzes learners' perceptions of and satisfaction with learner-centered classes and identifies the issues that must be considered when planning learner-centered activities for college liberal arts classes. The study used a learner-centered participatory activity in which participants created a 4-cut cartoon addressing a specific theme. An open-ended questionnaire was administered to identify learners' attitudes about and satisfaction with the learner-centered classes. It showed that most learners (87.5%) were highly satisfied with the 4-cut cartoon creation activities in the learner-centered participatory class. Learners identified the burden- free nature of the class activities, the fact that they improved their understanding of class content, and that they were fun (not boring) as the main reasons they found the class activities satisfying. In liberal arts English classes, more diverse participatory class activities should be developed to arouse interest and motivation of learners and encourage learners' participation.

영화 기반 교양교과 수업 활동 탐색 - 영화 「언터처블: 1%의 우정」 중심으로 (Recognition of General arts classes based on movie - Focused on the movie "Untouchables: 1% friendship")

  • 본 연구는 대학에서 영화를 기반으로 한 교양교과 수업에 실제 적용한 사례를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 이에 영화를 기반으로 교양교과 수업에 대한 인식을 알아보고자 하였다. 특히 영화 6편 중 '언터처블: 1%의 우정' 중심으로 수업 활동을 분석하여 전개하였다. 본 연구대상은 부산광역시에 소재한 D대학 2016년 1학기에 개설된 교양과목 '영화로 만나는 창의적 융합' 강좌에 수강한 대학생 44명을 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 전통적인 수업방식에서 탈피한 창의성 수업으로 영화를 감상하고 퀴즈를 온라인을 통해 선행학습한 이후 과제, 발표, 실험, 체험 등을 정규 수업시간에 수행하는 교육방법으로 15주 동안 진행하였다. 본 연구에서 영화를 활용한 교양수업에 대한 인식결과는 다음과 같다. '움직임이 살아있는 교양수업이다', '영화를 다양한 시각으로 보게 하는 교양수업이다', '나를 알게 하는 교양수업이다' 로 나타났다. 이는 일상생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 영화라는 교육매체와 틀에서 벗어난 공간에서 활동하는 교양수업이 대학생들에게는 호기심을 자극하고 재미를 더해주는 것으로 인식하고 있음을 시사하고 있다.

A Suggestion on Using Animated Movie as Learning Materials for University Liberal Arts English Classes

  • This study's purpose is to suggest a pedagogical method based on using animated movie in liberal arts English classes and to examine the direction that using animated movie as learning material should take. To this end, in this study, the content understanding and expression concentration stages using animated movie are presented. After students learned in class through animated movie, two tests were conducted to investigate the change in learners' acquisition of English expressions. As a result, subjects' learning of English expressions showed a significant improvement over time. An open-ended questionnaire was also conducted to ascertain learners' satisfaction level and their perceptions of classes using animated movie, with learners' satisfaction found to be high overall (77.1%). Students identified the reasons for their high satisfaction rate as the following: "fun and a touching story", "beneficial composition of textbooks", "efficient teaching methods", "sympathetic topics", and "appropriate difficulty". When using video media in class, instructors should maximize and leverage the advantages of video media, which are rich both in context and in their linguistic aspects.

포스트 코로나 시대 대학 교양영어 수업의 나아갈 방향 (The Future Direction of University Liberal Arts Classes in the Post-COVID-19 Era)

  • 본 연구는 코로나 19로 인한 사회적 거리 두기가 전면 해제됨에 따라 많은 교육 기관들이 대면 수업으로 다시 전환하는 이 시점에 포스트 코로나 시대를 맞이한 대학 교양영어의 나아갈 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 교양영어를 수강한 대학생 187명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사 결과 학습자들은 대면 수업보다는 비대면 수업에 대한 만족도가 더 높게 나타났으며(87.8%), 이에 대한 만족의 이유는 수업 내용에 대한 충분한 이해, 체계적 수업 진행, 학습의 효율성, 편의성으로 나타났다. 대면 수업, 비대면 수업과 혼합 수업, 이 세 가지 수업 형태 중학습자들은 비대면 수업을 가장 선호하는 것으로 나타났으며(54.4%) 이에 대한 이유로 공간적 편리성, 학습의 용이성, 집중도와 학습 효과가 나타났다. 대면 수업으로 전환되더라고 기존의 온라인 비대면 수업의 장점이 병행되고 적극 반영될 수 있는 학습 방안이 강구되어야 할 것이다.

The Effect of Lab Classes Satisfaction of Culinary-Related Majors on Academic Stress and Class Participation in Local Colleges

  • 본 연구는 조리 전공 관련 실습수업 만족도가 전공 학업 스트레스와 수업 참여도에 미치는 영향 정도를 조사하였다. 2023년 2학기에 광주·전남·전북 소재 6개 전문대학의 조리 전공 1학년 228명 학생을 대상으로 조사하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS Ver. 25.0을 이용하였다. 조사 자료의 일반적 특성, 신뢰도 분석, 탐색적 요인 분석, 상관관계 분석, 다중 회귀 분석을 진행하였다. 본 연구 결과는 첫째, 조리 관련 실습수업 만족도 하위 구성 요인과 학업 스트레스 및 수업 참여도 간 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조리 실습수업 만족도와 전공 학업 스트레스에 미치는 영향이 유의미하게 나타났다. 셋째, 조리 실습수업 만족도가 전공 수업 참여에 미치는 영향이 유의미하게 나타났다. 결론적으로 지방 전문대 조리 관련 전공 실습수업 만족도가 학업 스트레스와 수업 참여에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 향후, 대학 입학 전 조리 실습 경험이 실습수업 만족도와 학업 스트레스, 진로 및 취업 준비에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 관한 후속 연구를 기대한다.

지역주민(地域住民)의 중학교(中學校) 실(室) 이용(利用)에 관(關)한 모델 (A Model for the Use of Middle School Rooms by the Community)

  • This paper seeks to find out the policies of management and layout of middle school rooms for the community people's use. This paper surveys community's needs with respect to both the use of school rooms before, during, and after classes and preferences of use of school rooms. This paper adopts two experimental case studies to find out the models. It uses t-test analysis of the statistics to find out community people's preferences for the use of school rooms between two communities in an urban area, and uses simple and multiple regression analyses to develop models concerning community people's uses of school rooms before, during, and after classes. It also uses cluster analysis to find out the cluster among community people's preference of school rooms. It found, first, that community people's use of school rooms after class can be influenced by the uses of a play ground, a music classroom, an audio visual classroom, and a gymnasium. The use during regular classes is related to the uses of the fine arts classroom, a general classroom, a home economics classroom, a gymnasium, and a playground. The use before class is affected by the uses of a fine arts classroom, a playground, and a library. It also found that, with respect to community people's preferential use of school rooms, the rooms can be clustered as a cluster of laboratories such as a general classroom, a music room, a fine arts classroom, a science classroom, a home economics classroom, and a technique classroom, a cluster of athletic areas such as a gymnasium and a playground, and a cluster of supporting facilities such as a library, an audio visual classroom, and a computer classroom. Those clusters can also be clustered in more detail, i. e., that both a general classroom and playground can be apart from a cluster of laboratories or a cluster of supporting facilities; that an audio visual classroom can be fostered into a cluster with a home economics affairs classroom and a technique classroom. Finally this paper suggests policies of management and layout of school rooms.

Exploring Lecturers' Perceptions of Virtual University General English Courses

  • This research explored the impact the thoughts and opinions of lecturers teaching university general English courses have on their virtual classes and discussed the differences and similarities in their perspectives. As a research methodology, the Q-method was used, which usually consists of five steps: Q-population, Q-statements, Q-participants, Q-sorting, and factor analysis using PQMethod, a computer software program. A total of 30 statements were finally selected and 26 people directly involved in teaching online university general English courses were selected as participants in this study. Based on the results of the factor analysis, this research discovered three different factors, which were interaction & content-oriented, online teaching favored, and content-oriented. The results of this study can contribute to developing the future directions of virtual university general English classes to help learners improve their English skills and prepare lecturers for the future.

  • In this paper, we use the use the linear operator ʒxτ,σ(u, v, y)𝔣(z) and the concept of the subordination to analyse the general class of all analytic univalent functions. Our main results are implication properties between the classes of such functions and the application of these properties to special cases.

교과대체형 STEAM(융합인재교육) 프로그램 개발 및 적용 후 학생들의 인식 분석 - 6학년 에너지 관련 단원을 중심으로 - (Development and Students' Perceptions after Application of a Subject Substitute STEAM Program - Focusing on Energy Unit in 6th Grade Curriculum -)

  • In recent years, Korea encourages teachers to do STEAM education(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics), which includes Arts to STEM education to train creative science technology talent. Related to this, we developed a subject substitute STEAM program for the 6th grade students in elementary school and applied it in a field. The STEAM program which substitutes contents in curriculum related to Energy unit was developed and it was taught to twenty four sixth grade students during regular classes. During the classes, all activities of students were observed and they were written in recording notes during the observation. After all STEAM program ended, how students recognize the subject substitute STEAM program compared to general class, understand learning contents and think about the program before and after the STEAM classes were analyzed through questionnaire and interviews. The results were as follows. First, some students had difficulty in reconciling different ideas in group, creative thinking and crafts but most students liked the STEAM classes because many activities are fun and it is easy to understand. Second, learners regarded practical use of knowledge, learning different subjects together and interests as the reasons they can understand learning contents easily during STEAM program. Third, learners recognized STEAM classes are good to understand knowledge, think creative ideas and improve social skills after the STEAM classes while they showed anticipation, worry and fear before taking the classes. It is found that a subjective substitute STEAM program is helpful to increase learners' interests in learning, understand learning contents, increase creativity and have a good personality through a qualitative research.

  • The structure theorems [3, 6, 21] for the classes of perfect ideals of grade 3 have been generalized to the structure theorems for the classes of perfect ideals linked to almost complete intersections of grade 3 by a regular sequence [15]. In this paper we obtain structure theorems for two classes of Gorenstein ideals of grade 4 expressed as the sum of a perfect ideal of grade 3 (except a Gorenstein ideal of grade 3) and an almost complete intersection of grade 3 which are geometrically linked by a regular sequence.
