A Study on the Way to Improvement of Career Commitment and Life Satisfaction among Chinese Students Who Study in Korea

  • The current number of international students is gradually increasing in the world due to their passion for study or exchange students programs related to be affiliated with their universities. Many international students have great hope for their successful life of studying abroad. The factors that play a key role in successful study abroad can be seen as life satisfaction in host country and career commitment. Therefore, this study suggested the way to improve students' life satisfaction and career commitment among Chinese international students in Korea. It focused on social identification as a core factor in improving international student life satisfaction and career commitment. In addition, it also focused on social support as a factor to increase social identification. According to the results of empirical analysis, it was verified that perceived social support improves social identification among international students. In addition, social identification improves their life satisfaction and career commitment. Therefore, the mediating effect of social identification was found to be significant in the relationship between perceived social support and life satisfaction and career commitment. This study was verified that if international students perceive social support, they can experience social identification. This process can eventually lead to life satisfaction and career commitment. Based on these results, it emphasized that the role and importance of social identification. Finally, the practical implications and future research directions were discussed.

  • This study examines a systematic and effective approach to career guidance in medical education, with a particular focus on the 6-year integrated career guidance education framework implemented at the College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea. Based on the "New SLICE" educational development principles, this framework comprehensively addresses the needs of medical students in career planning and development. It is structured into three phases: understanding yourself, exploring options, and choosing a specialty. The first phase, understanding yourself, helps students to recognize their strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes, and potentials, thereby setting the direction for future career choices. This phase includes various psychological tests and Self-Development and Portfolio courses. The second phase, exploring options, enables students to engage in related activities such as research and practical training, providing direct and indirect experiences across various fields. This phase offers courses including Medical Field Experience, Career Guidance through the Learning Community & Advisory Professors, and Student Participation in Professor Research Projects. The final phase, choosing a specialty, involves students making decisions based on in-depth self-assessment and exploration of majors, with a capstone project being a significant component. Maximizing the efficiency of career decision-making requires integration between the basic medical curriculum and postgraduate education. Including the period up to residency entrance in the framework is necessary for effective career guidance education.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공과대학 학생들이 갖추어야할 진로개발능력의 구성요소가 무엇인지를 구명하는데 있다. 이 연구에서 공과대학 학생들이 갖추어야할 진로개발능력이란 공학 분야에서 학생들이 자신의 생애에 걸쳐 자기 주도적으로 진로를 선택하고 준비하며 적응할 수 있는 능력을 의미한다. 이 연구에서는 공과대학 학생들의 진로개발능력과 관련이 있다고 판단되는 진로 관련 문헌과 직업기초능력 및 공학기초능력에 관련된 국내외 문헌 연구를 수행하였고, 이를 토대로 연구진과 전문가 협의회를 통하여 검토 및 수정 작업을 거쳐 진행되었다. 특히 이 연구에서 제시한 진로개발능력은 크게 학생들의 진로개발 과정과 공학세계에서 진로를 유지하고 발전시키기 위하여 요구되는 능력이라는 두 가지 관점에서 접근되었다. 그 결과 공학인의 진로개발능력에 속하는 구성요소에는 8개의 영역과 42개의 하위요소들을 최종적으로 도출하였다.

2022 개정 교육과정에 나타난 진로 교육 분석 (Analysis of Career Education in the 2022 Revised Curriculum)

  • 교육과정 개정은 학생들의 학습 성취도와 능력 향상, 사회 요구에 부응하고 평등성과 포용성 강화, 교사의 전문성 강화, 국가의 경쟁력 강화, 세계화 시대에 대응하며 지속적인 발전과 혁신을 위해 매우 중요한 과정이다. 이를 통해 미래 세대에 더 나은 교육 기회와 환경을 제공할 수 있다. 2022 개정 교육과정은 학생들이 현대 사회에서 필요로 하는 지식과 기술을 반영하고, 산업과 사회의 변화에 대응할 수 있도록 한 교육과정이다. 이 연구의 목적은 2022 개정 교육과정에 나타난 진로 교육을 분석하여 진로 교육의 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 2022 개정 교육과정에 나타난 진로 교육 관련 내용을 진로와 직업이 직접적으로 언급된 내용만을 분석하면 다음과 같은 내용이 있다. 첫째, 미래 대응을 위한 교육과정에서 디지털 기초소양 강화에 진로교육과 관련된 내용이 나온다. 둘째, 학교 현장의 자율적인혁신 지원 과제영역에서 초 중등학교 교육과정 운영의 유연성 제고 세부 추진내용 중 자유학기제 편성 및 개선방안을 제시하고 있다. 셋째, 학습자 맞춤형 교육 강화 영역에서, 세부 내용 중 초중등 학교급 간 진로 연계 교육 강화가 진로 교육의 핵심이다. 세부 내용 자체 영역에 진로 교육이 언급된 것이다. 이처럼 2022 개정 교육과정의 핵심 내용은 진로 교육이라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 진로교육의 방향이나 내용을 2022개정 교육과정에서 충실히 반영하고 있다.

과학 관련 진로교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 진로 선택에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Career Education Programs Related to the Science on Elementary School Students' Career Choice)

  • This study investigated the influence of the application of the career education programs related to the science of the elementary school on the career choice. For this study, a total of 32 lessons (4 units) utilizing the career education programs related the science curriculum were developed. The study subjects were 128 students from Y elementary school located in Incheon. A test with regard to the science related career choice and the science related career choice factors was performed before and after the lessons. For more detailed analysis, the experimental group was divided into two groups of female and male students; students who hope and do not hope career in science-related fields. As a result of the performance of career education programs, it showed a significant improvement in the 'science related career choice'. And, it also showed all significant improvements in 'science related major/department, education lecture selection'. It was possible to know that the students who do not wish science related jobs in the future also changed their mind on to the science. In addition, all the subcategories of the 'preference for science learning' area such as 'preference for science subject', 'preference for experiment', 'recognition of science subject availability', 'recognition of the impact of teacher' showed a significant improvement. The 'perception about career related to science' showed a significant improvement on the whole. There was no significant improvement on the whole in 'participation in science related activities'.

4차 산업혁명 기반 진로탐구 독서 프로그램이 초등학생의 진로의식에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Career Exploration Reading Program Based on the 4th Industrial Revolution on Career Consciousness of Elementary School Students)

  • 본 연구는 4차 산업혁명을 기반으로 한 진로탐구 독서 프로그램을 구성하여 참가자들의 진로의식 발달에 미치는 효과를 측정하고자 초등학교 학생 대상 실험집단 12명, 통제집단 12명을 대상으로 사전-사후 검사를 실시하였다. 12회기의 진로탐구 독서 프로그램을 실험집단에 시행한 후 진로발달 검사를 실시하였을 때, 실험집단은 통제집단과 비교하여 진로발달의 아홉 가지 하위 영역에서 통계적으로 유의한 효과를 보였다. 또한 실험집단의 만족도 조사와 반응 조사 및 면담 결과, 진로탐구 활동에 대한 성취감을 증가시키고 미래 직업 개념 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 주었음을 발견하였다.

대학생의 진로 결정과 진로 선택 동기, 진로 역량의 인과적 관계 (The Causal Relationship among Career Decision-making, Motivation for Career Choices, Career Capabilities of Undergraduate Students)

  • 대학생 시기에 진로에 대한 목표를 설정하고, 진로를 결정하는 것은 인생에서 매우 중요한 과업 중 하나다. 본 연구에서는 대학생의 진로 선택 동기와 진로 역량 및 진로 결정의 구조적 관계를 조사 분석하여 대학생들의 진로 결정에 도움을 줄 수 있는 자료를 제공하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 부산 소재 4년제 D대학에 재학중인 학생을 대상으로 설문 조사를 하였다. 총 326부의 자료가 최종 분석에 사용되었으며, SPSS 25와 AMOS 25를 이용하여 경로 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구 결과는 첫째 내재적 진로 선택 동기와 외재적 진로 선택 동기는 각각 진로 역량인 진로 성찰과 진로 관리에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로 역량인 진로 성찰과 진로 관리는 진로 결정 구성 요인인 진로 결정 구체성과 진로 결정 확신성에 모두 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 내재적 진로 선택 동기와 외재적 진로 선택 동기는 진로 역량인 진로 성찰과 진로 관리를 매개하여 진로 결정 구체성과 확신성에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 종합해 보면 대학생의 진로 결정의 구체성과 확신성을 높이기 위해서는 학생들의 진로 성찰 역량과 진로 관리 역량을 증진 시킬 필요가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 불확실한 고용환경의 변화와 높은 청년 실업률과 함께 직업의 종류가 매우 다양해지고 고도로 전문화되면서 대학생이 자신에게 적합한 진로 결정에 대한 어려움이 가중되고 있다. 현 상황에서 본 연구의 결과는 대학에서의 진로 상담과 진로 지도에 활용할 수 있는 대학생의 진로 결정에 대한 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

조직지원인식이 주관적 경력성공에 미치는 영향: 경력계획의 매개효과 검증 (The Effect of Perceived Organizational Support on Subjective Career Success: The Mediating Effect of Career Planning)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify the relations among perceived organizational support, career planning, and subjective career success (career satisfaction and job satisfaction). In particular, this study focuses on the mediating effect on the career planning between perceived organization and subjective career success. The target cases are employees of a Korean branch of a global company (A), which operates formal career program to support a career development for employees. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected from December, 2014 to March, 2015. 211 out of 300 questionnaires were returned (response rate 70.3%). After the data cleaning, 209 questionnaires were used for the data analysis. These data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM). The whole process of the data analysis was accomplished using the SPSS 21.0 for windows and the AMOS 21 program. Results - The findings of the study are as follows: First, the better the organizational support is perceived, the higher career satisfaction and job satisfaction is. That is, the employees' career and job satisfaction is higher, when they feel themselves received more supporting. Second, perceived organizational support has a positive impact on employees' career planning. This result means that it is important to support employees in their career development. Third, career planning has a positive impact on career satisfaction, but not on job satisfaction. Lastly, it is verified that career planning has a mediating effect between the perceived organizational support and career satisfaction. Not only has the perception of an organizational support a direct impact on career satisfaction, but also an indirect impact through career planning. However, there is not an indirect relationship through career planning, just an direct relationship between the perception of an organizational support and job satisfaction Conclusions - Based on the findings of this study, the major conclusion of the study was as follows: The study provides theoretical values and practical implications for the fact that the differences of the subjective perception about organizational support exist among employees, and the differences have an impact on their career planning as well as subjective career success. Furthermore, some recommendations for workplace were suggested: The companies should support the career development for employees in organization level. Even though employment instability makes individual workers themselves to be responsible for their own career development, it is an important issue in organizational level that employees' career success could have positive effects on organizational development and success, as well. However, there is a limit in the study that analyzing results cannot be generalized due to the data from a single company. Some recommendations for future research are suggested: First, a comparative study should be conducted with other various companies. Second, a hierarchical analyzing model needs to be applied to substantiate how organizational context influences on subjective career success of employees.

특급호텔 조리사 직업선택동기에 따른 직무만족에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Job Satisfaction of the Five-star Hotel Chef Career Choice Motives)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the motivation of career choice for chefs in luxury hotels through IPA analysis based on the differences between importance and satisfaction, and to investigate the impact of motivations of career choice on job satisfaction. The results are as follows. First, "matched aptitude" and "interest in cook" were found as factors of importance and satisfaction. Second, sufficient reward should be provided through incentive, increasing salary, and promotion. Third, the system of internship and temporary employee should be revised, and the motivation should be provided through performance-based reward and incentive system. Fourth, fair personal evaluation, transparent promotion system, fair reward system should be required to increase job satisfaction. Fifth, internal environment is important rather than social reputation or popularity for those who consider chefs as future career.

일생에 걸친 경력관리를 통한 일-생활 균형에 관한 기초연구 (A Preliminary Study on Work-life Balance Through Career Management Over the Lifespan)

  • Recently, workers are interested in work-life balance. However, most dual- income couples do not make the effort to achieve work-life balance in their everyday life compared with many workplaces that make various family-friendly policies available to them. Therefore, this study aims to suggest the necessity and process of work-life balance through career management over one's lifespan. The needs and resources of families are not the same during every stage of the family life cycle. Thus, dual-income couples should aim to invest in career management which includes balancing their work and their family when considering their future career and life. Additionally, they should try to match the needs and resources of both their work and their family by using family resources, workplace policies, and community networks.
