  • In this study, we propose a software-defined radio-based frequency interference emulator in the space-time domain. This emulator can easily model actual interference environments because of the versatile programming capability of the universal software radio peripheral and LabVIEW. As an example of an interfering network using the contention-based multiple access scheme in the time domain, we emulate a coordinated Wi-Fi network that consists of one access point and two Wi-Fi nodes. Results show that our emulator can successfully model multiple interfering signals in the Wi-Fi network and easily adjust various space-time domain parameters.

  • In this paper, we study the first-order system least-squares (FOSLS) spectral method for parabolic partial differential equations. There were lots of least-squares approaches to solve elliptic partial differential equations using finite element approximation. Also, some approaches using spectral methods have been studied in recent. In order to solve the parabolic partial differential equations in parallel, we consider a parallel numerical method based on a hybrid method of the frequency-domain method and first-order system least-squares method. First, we transform the parabolic problem in the space-time domain to the elliptic problems in the space-frequency domain. Second, we solve each elliptic problem in parallel for some frequencies using the first-order system least-squares method. And then we take the discrete inverse Fourier transforms in order to obtain the approximate solution in the space-time domain. We will introduce such a hybrid method and then present a numerical experiment.

  • Surface impedance boundary condition(SIBC) concepts are introduced into the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. Lossy conductors are replaced by surface impedance boundary computations reducing the soluton space and producing significant computational savings. Specifically, a surface impedance boundary condition is developed to reduce a lossy dielectric half-space. Since Maxwell's eqations are solved directly, the reflected and transmitted pulse amplitude demonstrate how the reflection and transmision coefficient determine reflected wave amplitude. In this paper, two implementations of reflection coefficient are presented. One implementation is a standard FDTD technique and the other is a FDTD using surface impedence boundary condition(FDTD-SIBC) that are applicabIe over a very large frequency bandwidth. Particulary, an efficient way to transform the time domain results to frequency domain is presented. Thus, frequency domain results are presented in one dimension and are compared with exact results.

  • This paper proposes an alternate time-switched multiplexed space-frequency block coding technique for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization. The traditional multiplexed space-frequency block coding technique for single-carrier modulation uses multiple groups of two transmitters and suppresses the interference signals of other SFBC groups at the receiver. In this paper, we reconfigure transmit signals to adapt them for alternate time-switched multiplexed SFBC for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization and receiver structures and propose a structure for transmitter and receiver, show that its performance is better than the traditional algorithm by simulations.

  • Expecting fatigue life of mounted radar in aircraft is very important when designing, because the mounted radar in aircraft is exposed to long-term external random vibration. Among the methods of predicting the fatigue life, Fatigue analysis method in frequency domain has continuously been proposed in this field. In this paper, four fatigue analysis methods in frequency domain, which are widely used, have been selected and compared with the results for Specimen fatigue test. As a result, Dirlik and Benascicutti-Tovo methods have been matched better with fatigue analysis in time domain than the method in frequency method through the comparison between the fatigue analysis method in time domain and the method in frequency domain by conducting the specimen fatigue test with strain gage. Based on the results of the specimen fatigue test, We have conducted fatigue analysis of mounted radar in aircraft with Dirlik and Benasciutti-Tovo methods in the finite element model, and confirmed that the required life was satisfying.

  • In this paper, we propose a STF(Space-Time-Frequency) coded OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission scheme as an attractive solution for high bit rate data transmission in a multipath fading environment. The STF-OFDM transmission scheme that we propose in this paper is a simple transmission cheme for achieving frequency diversity gain with low complexity. Using preceding in frequency domain, we obtain frequency diversity gain and improve the SER performance of conventional ST-OFDM. The preceding scheme proposed in this paper is a very simple method that can be encoded and decoded with low complexity.

  • This paper presents an advanced computational method for the prediction of the responses in the frequency domain of general linear dissipative structural-acoustic and fluid-structure systems, in the low-and medium-frequency domains and this includes uncertainty quantification. The system under consideration is constituted of a deformable dissipative structure that is coupled with an internal dissipative acoustic fluid. This includes wall acoustic impedances and it is surrounded by an infinite acoustic fluid. The system is submitted to given internal and external acoustic sources and to the prescribed mechanical forces. An efficient reduced-order computational model is constructed by using a finite element discretization for the structure and an internal acoustic fluid. The external acoustic fluid is treated by using an appropriate boundary element method in the frequency domain. All the required modeling aspects for the analysis of the medium-frequency domain have been introduced namely, a viscoelastic behavior for the structure, an appropriate dissipative model for the internal acoustic fluid that includes wall acoustic impedance and a model of uncertainty in particular for the modeling errors. This advanced computational formulation, corresponding to new extensions and complements with respect to the state-of-the-art are well adapted for the development of a new generation of software, in particular for parallel computers.

  • This paper presents a time domain method for soil-structure interaction analysis for seismic loadings. It is based on the finite element formulation incorporating analytical frequency-dependent infinite elements for the far-field soil. The dynamic stiffness matrices of the far-field region formulated in frequency domain using the present method can be easily transformed into the corresponding matrices in time domain. Hence the response can be analytical computed in time domain. Example analysis has been carried out to verify the present method for an embedded block in a multi-layered half-space. The present methods can be easily extended to the nonlinear analysis since the response analysis is carried out in time domain.

  • In this paper, a frequency domain Expectation-Maximization (EM)-based channel estimation algorithm for Space Time Block Coded-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (STBC-OFDM) systems is investigated to support higher data rate applications in wireless communications. The computational complexity of the frequency domain EM-based channel estimation is increased when higher order constellations are used because of the ascending size of the search set space. Thus, a search set reduction algorithm is proposed to decrease the complexity without sacrificing the system performance. The performance results of the proposed algorithm is obtained in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Mean Square Error (MSE) for 16QAM and 64QAM modulation schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a STF(Space-Time-Frequency) coded OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission scheme as an attractive solution for high bit rate data transmission in a multipath fading environment. STBC(Space-Time Block Coding) has been proposed as a simple diversity scheme using two transmit antennas. Also ST-OFDM(Space-Time Block Coded OFDM) and SF-OFDM(Space-Frequency Block Coded OFDM) transmission scheme, that the STBC is applied to the OFDM, has been proposed. In this paper, we propose STF-OFDM transmission scheme that to coded in time, space and frequency domain. The STF-OFDM transmission scheme that we propose in this paper is the way to improve a performance of conventional ST-OFDM, by using frequency diversity.
