1D PBG 구조의 저지대역 특성 분석 (Analysis of Stopband Characteristics for 1D Photonic Band-Gap Structures)

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 PBG 구조의 전송특성을 ABCD 파라미터로 모델링하여 연속한 N개의 PBG 구조에 대한 전송특성의 이론적 분석을 용이하게 하였다. 또한 무한 PBG구조에 대한 분산 다이어그램을 도출하였으며, 연속된 N개의 주기적 PBG구조에서 주파수 특성과 분산 다이어그램과의 상호연관성을 고찰하기 위해 N=10일 경우의 PBG 구조를 이론, 회로 시뮬레이션, EM 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 해석하였는데 세 결과 그래프가 거의 일치하였다. 이러한 방법론을 적용할 경우 주어진 PBG 구조의 분석(Analysis)이 용이할 뿐만 아니라 특정한 저지대역의 설계(Synthesis)도 용이해진다.

  • This paper introduces a systematic top-down and bottom-up design methodology to assist the designer in the implementation of continuous-time (CT) cascade sigma-delta (${\Sigma}{\Delta}$) modulators. The salient features of this methodology are (a) flexible behavioral modeling for optimum accuracy-efficiency trade-offs at different stages of the top-down synthesis process, (b) direct synthesis in the continuous-time domain for minimum circuit complexity and sensitivity, (c) mixed knowledge-based and optimization-based architectural exploration and specification transmission for enhanced circuit performance, and (d) use of Pareto-optimal fronts of building blocks to reduce re-design iterations. The applicability of this methodology will be illustrated via the design of a 12-bit 20 MHz CT ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ modulator in a 1.2 V 130 nm CMOS technology.

Structural joint modeling and identification: numerical and experimental investigation

  • In the present work, structural joints have been modeled as a pair of translational and rotational springs and frequency equation of the overall system has been developed using sub-structure synthesis. It is shown that using first few natural frequencies of the system, one can obtain a set of over-determined system of equations involving the unknown stiffness parameters. Method of multi-linear regression is then applied to obtain the best estimate of the unknown stiffness parameters. The estimation procedure has been developed first for a two parameter joint model and then for a three parameter model, in which cross coupling terms are also included. Two cases of structural connections have been considered, first with a cantilever beam with support flexibility and then a pair of beams connected through lap joint. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical simulation and by experimentation.

  • The implementation of a robust $H_{\infty}$ Control, which is numerically efficient for uncertain nonlinear dynamics, on longitudinal and lateral autopilots is realised for a quarter scale Piper J3-Cub model accepted as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the condition of sensor noise and disturbance effects. The stability and control coefficients of the UAV are evaluated through XFLR5 software, which utilises a vortex lattice method at a predefined flight condition. After that, the longitudinal trim point is computed, and the linearization process is performed at this trim point. The "${\mu}$-Synthesis"-based robust $H_{\infty}$ control algorithm for roll, pitch and yaw displacement autopilots are developed for both longitudinal and lateral linearised nonlinear dynamics. Controller performances, closed-loop frequency responses, nominal and perturbed system responses are obtained under the conditions of disturbance and sensor noise. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control scheme achieves robust performance and guarantees stability under exogenous disturbance and measurement noise effects and model uncertainty.

  • 본 논문에서는, 구조를 간략히 한 3중 조절형의 DDFS 구동PLL 주파수 합성기를 이용하여 주파수 합성 조절법에 의한 광대역 무선통신시스템으로의 응용을 연구하였다. 제안된 DDFS 구동PLL주파수 합성기는 DDFS에서 위상누적기만을 이용하는 매우 단순화된 구조이므로, 기존 DDFS 구동PLL 주파수 합성기의 경우보다 스위칭 속도가 높으며, 전력소모를 개선시킨다. 그리고 이 제안된 3중 조절형 주파수 합성기는 3가지 주파수 조절 파라미터를 이용하여 넓은 대역의 주파수 범위의 동작이 가능하므로, 광대역 저전력 고속 특성을 갖는 응용에 적합하다. 주파수 조절 파라미터 할당 방법과 그의 결과를 제시하였으며, CSM, IMT-2000, Bluetooth 틴 PCS 시스템, 등 여러 주파수 대역에 응용하는 경우를 보였다.

MMIC 기반 Ka대역 주파수합성기 및 수신기 개발 (Development of the Ka-band Frequency Synthesizer and Receiver based on MMIC)

  • 본 논문에서는 Ka대역 소형 레이다용 주파수합성 MMIC(FS MMIC)와 수신 MMIC를 개발하고 개발된 MMIC를 기반으로 소형화 된 Ka대역 주파수합성기와 수신기를 개발하였다. FS MMIC와 기저대역 신호를 수신하는 WR(wireless-receiver) MMIC는 65 nm CMOS 공정으로 제작하였고, Ka대역 신호를 수신하는 FE(front-end) MMIC는 150 nm GaN 공정으로 제작하였다. FS MMIC를 바탕으로 개발된 주파수합성기의 출력신호를 이용하여 Ka 대역 신호에 대한 주파수선형변조 파형과 펄스 파형을 측정하고 송신 파형 생성 가능성을 확인하였다. FE MMIC 및 WR MMIC로 구성된 수신기의 성능은 이득 80 dB 이상, 잡음지수 6 dB 이하, OP1dB 10 dBm 이상으로 측정되었다. 측정결과를 통해 본 논문에서 개발된 주파수합성기, 수신기는 Ka 대역 소형 레이다에 적용 가능한 것으로 판단된다.

A Dual-Band Through-the-Wall Imaging Radar Receiver Using a Reconfigurable High-Pass Filter

  • A dual-band through-the-wall imaging radar receiver for a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar system was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency bands of the receiver are S-band (2-4 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). If the target is behind a wall, wall-reflected waves are rejected by a reconfigurable $G_m-C$ high-pass filter. The filter is designed using a high-order admittance synthesis method, and consists of transconductor circuits and capacitors. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned by changing the reference current. The receiver system is fabricated on a printed circuit board using commercial devices. Measurements show 44.3 dB gain and 3.7 dB noise figure for the S-band input, and 58 dB gain and 3.02 dB noise figure for the X-band input. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 0.7 MHz to 2.4 MHz.

Dielectric/Magnetic Nanowires Synthesized by the Electrospinning Method for Use as High Frequency Electromagnetic Wave Absorber

  • High frequency electromagnetic(EM) waves are increasingly being applied in industries because of saturationat lower frequency bands as a result of huge demand. However, electromagneticinterference (EMI) has become a serious problem, and as a result, highfrequency EM absorbers are now being extensively studied. Also, recentdevelopments in absorber technology have focused on producing absorbers thatare thin, flexible, and strong. Hence, one-dimension ferrous nano-materials area potential research field, because of their interesting electronic andmagnetic properties. Commercially, EM wave absorbing products are made ofcomposites, which blend the insulating polymer with magnetic fillers. Inparticular, the shape of the magnetic fillers, such flaky, acicular, or fibrousmagnetic metal particles, rather than spherical, is essential for synthesizingthin and lightweight EM wave absorbers with higher permeability. High aspectratio materials exhibit a higher permeability value and therefore betterabsorption of the EM wave, because of electromagnetic anisotropy. Nanowires areusually fabricated by drawing, template synthesis, phase separation, selfassembly, and electrospinning with a thermal treatment and reduction process.Producing nanowires by the electrospinning method involves a conventionalsol-gel process that is simple, unique, and cost-effective. In thispresentation, Magnetic nanowire and dielectric materials coated magneticnanowire with a high aspect ratio were successfully synthesized by theelectrospinning process with heat treatment and reduction. In addition toestimating the EM wave absorption ability of the synthesized magnetic anddielectric materials coated magnetic nanowire with a network analyzer, weinvestigated the possibility of using these nanowires as high-frequency EM waveabsorbers. Furthermore, a wide variety of topics will be discussed such as thetransparent conducting nanowire and semiconducting nanowire/tube with theelectrospinning process.

탄성적으로 지지된 광디스크 드라이버의 진동모드와 주파수 응답의 기하적 해석 (The Geometrical Analysis of Vibration Modes and Frequency Responses of an Elastically Suspended Optical Disc Drive)

  • Via screw theory, a vibration mode can be geometrically interpreted as a pure rotation about the vibration center in a plane and as a twisting motion on a screw in a three dimensional space. In thi s paper, applying the conditions that can be used to diagonalize the stiffness matrix by a parallel axis congruence transformation, the vibration modes and frequency response of an elastically suspended optical disc drive have been analyzed. It is first shown that the system has one plane of symmetry, which enables one to decouple the complicated vibration modes into two sets of modes independent of each other. Having obtained the analytical solutions for the axes of vibrations, the frequency response for a given applied input force has been demonstrated. Most importantly, it has been explained that this research result could be used in the synthesis process of a linear vibration system in order to improve the frequency response.

수동 소자를 이용한 ADSL POTS Splitter의 체계적인 설계 (A Systematical Design of ADSL POTS Splitter Using Passive Devices)

  • ADSL POTS splitter를 설계하기 위한 체계적인 합성 과정을 제안하였다. 이들은 single-ended 인덕터, 균형 인덕터, 그리고 균형 밀결합 변압기 형태의 저역-통과 여파기로 구성된다. 이 3개의 저역-통과 여파기를 시뮬레이션한 결과, 주파수 특성이 일치함을 보여준다. ADSL 시스템에 적용하기 위해, 상업용 균형 밀결합 변압기를 이용하여 POTS splitter를 설계하였다. 그것을 실험한 결과, ADSL 시스템에서 POTS splitter가 0.2 kHz에서 3.4kHz까지의 주파수 범위에서(또는 음성 대역 주파수에서) $\pm$0.5dB보다 작은 리플 데시벨과 0.6 kHz에서 3.2kHz까지의 주파수 범위에서 130 $\mu\textrm{s}$보다 작은 지연 왜곡을 가진다는 것을 알았다.
