  • In this paper, we consider a class of noncooperative fourth-order elliptic systems involving nonlocal terms and critical growth in a bounded domain. With the help of Limit Index Theory due to Li [32] combined with the concentration compactness principle, we establish the existence of infinitely many solutions for the problem under the suitable conditions on the nonlinearity. Our results significantly complement and improve some recent results on the existence of solutions for fourth-order elliptic equations and Kirchhoff type problems with critical growth.

  • In this paper we consider the Dirichlet problem for an fourth order elliptic equation on a open set in $R^N$. By using variational methods we obtain the multiplicity of nontrivial weak solutions for the fourth order elliptic equation.

  • In this paper, we consider the error estimates of the numerical solutions of a class of fourth order linear-quadratic elliptic optimal control problems by using mixed finite element methods. The state and co-state are approximated by the order $k$ Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise polynomials of order $k(k{\geq}1)$. $L^2$ and $L^{\infty}$-error estimates are derived for both the control and the state approximations. These results are seemed to be new in the literature of the mixed finite element methods for fourth order elliptic control problems.

  • We show the existence of nontrivial solutions for some fourth order elliptic boundary value problem with fully nonlinear term. We obtain this result by approaching the variational method and using a linking theorem. We also get a uniqueness result.

  • The nonlinear fourth order elliptic equations with jumping nonlinearity was modeled by McKenna. We investigate the trends for the researches of the existence of solutions of a fourth order semilinear elliptic boundary value problem with Dirichlet boundary Condition, ${\Delta}^2u{+}c{\Delta}u=b_1[(u+1)^{-}1]{+}b_2u^+$ in ${\Omega}$, where ${\Omega}$ is a bounded open set in $R^N$ with smooth boundary ${\partial}{\Omega}$.

  • We get one theorem that there exists a unique solution for the fourth order semilinear elliptic Dirichlet boundary value problem when the number 0 and the coefficient of the semilinear part belong to the same open interval made by two successive eigenvalues of the fourth order elliptic eigenvalue problem. We prove this result by the contraction mapping principle. We also get another theorem that there exist at least two solutions when there exist n eigenvalues of the fourth order elliptic eigenvalue problem between the coefficient of the semilinear part and the number 0. We prove this result by the critical point theory and the variation of linking method.

  • We obtain the multiple solutions for the fourth order elliptic problem with a variable coefficient and a jumping semilinear term. We have a result that there exist at least two solutions if the variable coefficient of the semilinear term crosses some number of the eigenvalues of the biharmonic eigenvalue problem. We obtain this multiplicity result by applying the Leray-Schauder degree theory.

  • We give a theorem for the existence of at least three solutions for the fourth order elliptic boundary value problem with the square growth variable coefficient nonlinear term. We use the variational reduction method and the critical point theory for the associated functional on the finite dimensional subspace to prove our main result. We investigate the shape of the graph of the associated functional on the finite dimensional subspace, (P.S.) condition and the behavior of the associated functional in the neighborhood of the origin on the finite dimensional reduction subspace.

  • This paper is concerned with the following fourth-order elliptic equations $${\Delta}^2u-{\Delta}u+V(x)u-{\frac{k}{2}}{\Delta}(u^2)u=f(x,u),\text{ in }{\mathbb{R}}^N$$, where $N{\leq}6$, ${\kappa}{\geq}0$. Under some appropriate assumptions on V(x) and f(x, u), we prove the existence of infinitely many negative-energy solutions for the above system via the genus properties in critical point theory. Some recent results from the literature are extended.
