Recently, the desire of the students has been changing variously as time passes and its speed is being accelerated. In this respect, this paper aims to demonstrate college students' menu choice behavior. In order to attain the object of this paper, college students in Chung-Nam Province including Daejeon city have been studied. There are many kinds of manu choice factors in food-industry. One of the methods of this study is Khan's food choice factor. The results of this analysis suggest that hypothesis 1-1, the environmental factors for college students were verified as significant effects on menu choice behavior of other people and also hypothesis $1{\sim}2$, self oriented for menu choice behavior showed significant effects. As a result, Khan's food choice behavior should be comparative to each factor focused on diversified environments. And also each factor is not strongly affected in relation to food choice factor. Therefore, students' menu choice behavior will be measured by verifying factors.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the motives for food choice using a Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ). A FCQ, an instrument that measures the reported importance of nine factors underlying food choice, was administered to a representative sample of 157 adult respondents from 21 to 27 October 2013. Statistical analyses such as Descriptive statistics, Factor analysis, Reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, independent samples t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were performed on the data using the SPSS PASW Statistics 18.0 for Windows. According to the results, five food choice motivation factors were discerned: health, sensory and mood, convenience, price, and familiarity. The most important factors reported were price, sensory and mood, convenience, health and familiarity. We found that food choice motivation is distinguished by age, frequency of eating out, and consumption of HMR. Females in this study gave higher importance scores to health, sensory and mood, and familiarity. There were higher correlations between 'health' and 'sensory appeal and mood'.
A total of 321 salaried employees were surveyed by a questionnaire to assess consumers perceptions on factors influencing their food choices when they go to a restaurant. The questionnaire consisted of 5 pages and each page contained a same 26 popular food list from various restaurants in JinJu in a column and 5 attributes (e.g. taste, price, fullness, healthiness) in a row. So the respondents were asked to rate a total 25 attributes on the points which the columns and the rows met, using a 5-point scale. The data were analyzed using the SAS program for factor analysis. Five factors which influence consumer's restaurant choice were emerged. They were named as follow: Factor 1:preference and purpose, Factor 2:taste, Factor 3:snack, Factor 4:convenience, Factor 5:concern about obesity. Most of respondents were satisfied with the taste and the healthiness of foods of restaurants in Jin-Ju. The younger and the female groups had more positive attitudes on eating out andi willing to use it frequently. Fullnes, healthiness, and price were important criteria in choice and preference of a restaurant. However, they didn't much consider the food safety. Taking account of the character of Korean food about fullness, healthiness, and resonable price, consumers might prefer Korean food to fast food or foreign food.
The aim of this study was to test the different situational characteristics of family restaurant choice. Accordingly, this study measured the important factors influencing family restaurant choice between university student's situational characteristics. In this study, the important factors were food presentation-related, facility-related, food quality & value-related and service-related factors. The findings from this study were as follows. Results of analyzing the validity and the internal consistency of important factors showed that the convergent and discriminant validitys of important factors are supported, and cronbach's alpha showed that the internal consistency of important factors is supported. It was found that groups of different situational characteristics perceived that facility factor was significantly important factor influencing their family restaurant choice. It was found that the important factor was statistically significant with regard to the difference situational characteristics. Finally, the results of the study provide seine insights into the market-oriented types of foodservice marketing strategies or tactics to enable family restaurant to effectively manage and more competitive.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the properties of restaurant customer's choice and to present the desirable service of restaurants. The experimental data were collected from the questionnaire answered by 182 restaurant customers in Seoul. One-way ANOVA and $x^2$(Chi-square) verification analysis were performed with the SPSS WINDOW 10.0 program to investigate statistical significance of the data. As the results, it was revealed that the food factor was most important when the customers choose a restaurant. And then, the importance of the choice properties was in the following order, that is, the food factor, the hygiene and cleanness factor, the employee's service factor, the visiting convenience factor, the indoor mood factor, the menu factor, the amenity factor for children. In addition, it was confirmed that some choice properties of the customers are dependent on the general characteristics such as sex, age, occupation, income etc. Therefore, it is essential that restaurants should provide various services related with the choice properties by understanding the choice properties according to the customer's characteristics.
Many factors influence food choices and many studies show personal traits that influence food choices, which can be called food neophobia and food involvement. For example, an individual's food-related tastes are thought to certainly influence personal food choices. This study aimed to determine food choice motives, the food neophobia scale (FNS) and food involvement scale (FIS) of Asians staying in or leaving Korea, and the relationship of those personal traits and food choice motives. Subjects (N=370) completed a questionnaire consisting of food choice motives (15 questions), FNS (10 questions), FIS (12 questions) and socio-demographic conditions (10 questions). Items were analyzed to determine the differences according to nationality using ANOVA. Factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted to identify the indicators of food choice motives. And correlation analysis was conducted to confirm the relationship between food choice motives and food neophobia / food involvement. The result of analysis suggests that food neophobia and food involvement affect food choice motives and that food choice motives are unique to ethnicity and culture.
A total of 321 salaried employees were surveyed by questionnaires during September and October 2001 in order to investigate the bases for their choices between 26 popular menu items in JinJu restaurants. The subjects were aged 20 to 61 years, and were classified into 3 age groups (ages 20-29, 30-39, and over 40) and 2 gender groups. The data were analyzed using the SAS program for factor analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The 26 popular menu items were classified into 6 factors by the 20-29 age group, into 5 factors by the 30-39 age group, and into 3 factors by the over 40 age group. The younger age group had the more numbers of factor which act as choice criteria of restaurant foods according to the purpose of eating out. 2) Because subjects classified steak and fast food into the same factor named 'new generation's food', we found that steak was an unfamiliar food for most of them, 3) The 20-29 age group had an aversion to Boshintang(dog soup), while the 30-39 age group and the over 40 age group liked Boshintang as a stamina food. 4) The over 40 age group, and men in all age groups, didn't choose Buffet and Shabushabu as a dinner food because they had negative attitudes toward novel or unfamiliar foods. 5) Women distinguished between a factor called 'social drink and party food' from a facor called 'dinner food', while men integrated the factor of 'dinner food' into the factor of 'social drink and party food' 6) Men preferred Samgyetang (chicken stew with ginseng) and Yangnyeumtongdak (spicy fried chicken) as a 'social drink and party food', while women preferred Dwaejibossam (boiled pork and kimchi) and Beef Bulgogi. In conclusion, most of subjects did not recognize fast food and steak as a meal, which were introduced recently in JinJu. The choice criteria and preferences of restaurant foods were different from the age and gender groups. The over 40 age group, and men in all age groups, had more negative attitudes toward novel or unfamiliar foods than the younger age and women groups.(Korean J. Nutrition 35(9) : 996~1006, 2002)
The aim of this study was to identify sushi choices underlying food-related lifestyle and to study the sushi attribute. The Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ), the most popular tool for lifestyle research, which measures the relative importance of nine factors important in food choice, and food-related lifestyle was administered to 200 Americans (over 20 years of age) residing in Korea. From an analysis of food-related lifestyle through factor analysis, four factors emerged: health, taste, economy, and convenience. The Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ) structure was verified using factor analysis, and eight factors were found: mood, natural content, health, sensory appeal, convenience, weight control, familiarity and price. These data are important in demonstrating the different motives underlying sushi choice. Moreover, the results suggest that an American's food-related lifestyle is considerably different in consumer behavior and sushi choice. Further research is needed to test our hypotheses.
A number of factors are thought to influence people's food choices, and there has recently been an increasing emphasis on understanding the consumer's motives behind choice of food types. For one thing, an individual's personal food-related tastes are thought to certainly influence personal food choice. This study aimed to discover the new motives for food, and what motives determine the food choice of foreigners living in Korea. Subjects (N=210) completed a Food Choice Questionnaire (65 questions) measuring specific motives and sociodemographic conditions (9 questions). Factor analysis and ANOVA were used to ascertain the food choice motives. Fourteen factors emerged, which were labeled health, mood, convenience, sensory appeal, natural content, price, weight control, familarity, political value, ecological protection. and religion. We also found that motives for new food choices include national image and information, ethnic food, and sanitation. Items were analysed to determine differences according to nationality, religion, occupation, and length of residence in Korea. All subjects thought sanitation is the most important motive in choice of food, and health, natural content, and ethnic food were also important.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This research analyzes the effects of the food choices of industrial workers according to their sugar intake pattern on their job satisfaction through the construction of a model on the relationship between sugar intake pattern and job satisfaction. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Surveys were collected from May to July 2015. A statistical analysis of the 775 surveys from Kyungsangnam-do was conducted using SPSS13.0 for Windows and SEM was performed using the AMOS 5.0 statistics package. RESULTS: The reliability of the data was confirmed by an exploratory factor analysis through a Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and the measurement model was proven to be appropriate by a confirmatory factor analysis in conjunction with AMOS. The results of factor analysis on food choice, sugar intake pattern and job satisfaction were categorized into five categories. The reliability of these findings was supported by a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 and higher for all factors except confection (0.516) and dairy products (0.570). The multicollinearity results did not indicate a problem between the variables since the highest correlation coefficient was 0.494 (P < 0.01). In an attempt to study the sugar intake pattern in accordance with the food choices and job satisfaction of industrial workers, a structural equation model was constructed and analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: All tests confirmed that the model satisfied the recommended levels for the goodness of fit index, and thus, the overall research model was proven to be appropriate.
