  • The stress distribution generated in the surrounding bone was calculated and compared for various geometry of the dental implants by means of the finite element methods. The models were designed to represent the screw type endosseous implants(varing the size, shape, direction of the screw thread and the angle of the body) with supporting bone and the cylinder type endosseous implants(varing the lower portion-Round type, tapered type) with supporting bone. Static mean bite forces were applied 100N vertically and 25N horizontally on the center of the implant and three dimensional finite analysis was undertaken using software ANSYS 5.1 Version. The result demonstrated that different implant shape leads to significant variations in stress distribution in the bone. In the case of variation of the screw size, direction and shape the implant model with normally directional and triangular screw implied lower stress than with upper directional or lower directional and quadrangular screw but among models a different screw size, within a variation of 0.2mm there was no meaningful difference in maximum stress. In the case of variation of angle of body the straight implied lower stress than the tapered. As a result of analysis of cylinder type, the implants with larger radius of curvature of the round form and larger diameter of the tapered form implied lower stress.

  • Let A be a locally finite total algebra of finite type such that $k^A(a_1,\cdots,a_n)\;{\neq}\;a_i$ ai for every operation $k^A$, elements $a_1,\cdots,a_n$ an and $1\;\leq\;i\;\leq\;n$. We show that the weak subalgebra lattice of A uniquely determines its (strong) subalgebra lattice. More precisely, for any algebra B of the same finite type, if the weak subalgebra lattices of A and B are isomorphic, then their subalgebra lattices are also isomorphic. Moreover, B is also total and locally finite.

  • The main aim of this article is to study quantitative structure of finite simple exceptional groups F4(2n) with n > 1. Here, we prove that the finite simple exceptional groups F4(2n), where 24n + 1 is a prime number with n > 1 a power of 2, can be uniquely determined by their orders and the set of the number of elements with the same order. In conclusion, we give a positive answer to J. G. Thompson's problem for finite simple exceptional groups F4(2n).

  • This study presents the comparisons between the analysis results based on membrane theory and finite element analysis for the inverted umbrella-type hyperbolic paraboloid shell structure. The effects of the roof angle on the roof deflections, member forces of edge beams and ribs, and shell stress are also investigated with various roof angles. Results show that the membrane theory overestimates the member forces of edge beams and ribs. On the contrary, the shell stresses are underestimated in the membrane theory when compared to the results from the finite element analysis. The deflections of roof slabs by finite element analysis show drastic increasement as the roof angle decreases.

  • Purpose: The present study was aimed to evaluate the level of cortical bone strain during the placement of an implant. The primary concern was to investigate if the extent of overloading area near the marginal bone could be affected by microthread fabricated at the cervical 1/3 of an implant. Materials and methods: Three dimensional finite element analysis was used to simulate the insertion of 3 implants. Control model was $4.1{\times}10$ mm implant (Submerged model, Dentis Co,, Daegu, Korea) equipped with a main thread only. Type I was with main thread and microthread, and Type II had similar thread pattern but was of tapered body. A PC-based finite element software (DEFORM 3D ver 5, SFTC, Columbus, OH, USA) was used to calculate a total of 3,600 steps of analysis, which simulated the whole insertion. Results: Results showed that the strain field in the marginal bone within 1 mm of the implant wall was higher than 4,000 micro-strain in the control model. The size of bone overloading was 1-1.5 mm in Type I, and greater than 2 mm in Type II implants. Conclusion: These results indicate that the marginal bone may be at the risk of resorption on receiving the implant for all 3 implant models studied. Yet, the risk was greater for Type I and Type II implants, which had microthread at the cervical 1/3.
