This study aims to investigate the essential meaning of college life based on understanding the lived experiences while participating in the extracurricular programs. This study was designed according to Giorgi's phenomenological research method to comprehend and grasp the meaning of the essential experience of each individual. Data collection for this study was conducted by a semi-structured in-depth interview with 6 participants who had engaged in the extracurricular program delivered by the department of Aviation Services. This study suggests that the experiential attributes of engaging in extracurricular classes and the meaning of involving extracurricular activities were derived into four themes each. The finding discovers that the meaning of college life including, 'improve in satisfaction of college life', 'various college life', 'memories of college life', and 'motivation for college life'. The conclusion to be drawn here is that the experience of participating in various extracurricular programs was shown to be a path of transitional process of personal growth. The significance of this study is that it revealed the extracurricular activities added a new meaning to their college life based on the interviewee's lived experience.

The major purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the extracurricular lesson expenses on the Burden of Household Expenditure. The data are collected from 537 housewives with a child aged 18(2nd grade in high school) in Seoul. The statistics used for the data analysis are frequency, percentage, crosstables, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression. The statistic softwear used for this study is SPSS. The Result on a base of empirical analyses follow: 1. Respondentg’s expenditure on extracurricular lesson fees is about 430,000 won per month, which is about 28% of the living cost. 2. There are four types of the methods preparing extracurricular lesson fees: ‘Frugal Type’, ‘Excess Type’, ‘Composit Type’, ‘Self-supportable Type’. 3. Region, the living cost, sex of children, net worth, and the mother’s education show statistically significant effect on the extracutticular lesson expenses. 4. The regression analyses incicate that Burden of Household Expenditure increased by 1.9 point according to 1% increase in expenditure on extracurridular lesson fees. The higher budget share of expenditure on extracurricular fees, the higher level of Burden of Household Expenditure.

In response to a growing trend toward downward escalation of public school curriculum, the present study surveyed so-called extracurricular activities in kindergartens and analyzed teacher's perception of these activities. Questionnaires were mailed to 1300 private kindergartens and 1116 responses were received. Major findings were that over 89% of the respondents reported doing extracurricular activities in their kindergartens, mostly using 3-4 different kinds of special activities. The 3 most highly ranked lessons in order of frequency were English, art and physical activity. Whole group time was most often used for extracurricular activities. Kindergarten teachers were concerned with the qualifications of teachers for these activities. Teachers of these extra activities usually have no specialized training or supervised experience working with 3-through 5-year-old children.

Based on the MOU between Chosun University and Daegu University, this study was conducted with the aim of exploring the operation strategy of a extracurricular education program on the theme of lifelong education for the disabled in community connection. In front-line university sites, extracurricular education programs are often recognized as forms and procedures to assist in subject learning at the major or liberal arts level, but they have a very important status and identity considering that they are classified as "learning competency reinforcement support", "career psychological counseling support", "employment and start-up support", "subject-linked extracurricular education". Accordingly, the extracurricular education programs has the nature and advantage of covering not only the level of the one-time trend program itself, but also various community -linked problem-solving learning, including students' major learning and employment linkage. As part of the above, this study aims to present a strategy for the operation of a extracurricular education programs with the main theme and content of "lifelong education for the disabled" by viewing Chosun University and Daegu University. The contents of the study were largely presented as "organizational operation strategy between two universities," "operation strategy of curriculum between two universities," and "comprehensive system for extracurricular education programs operation of lifelong education for the disabled between the two universities". First, the first research content, "Organized Operation Strategy between Two Universities," was schematized in detail the process of collaborating and communicating with Chosun University's center of extracurricular activities, Daegu University Lifelong Education Center, and other committees and departments. The second research content, "The Curriculum Operation Strategy between Two Universities", is a detailed schematic diagram of the learning contents, methods, and procedures to be organized in the extracurricular education program. The third study, "Comprehensive System of extracurricular education program Operation for Lifelong Education for the Disabled between Two Universities," presents the results of synthesizing the basis elements essential for operating the extracurricular education program at the level of a roadmap. As a result of the study, it was possible to see the project tasks that could be promoted in-depth through the operation of a extracurricular education program on lifelong education for the disabled through the MOU between the two universities.

Extracurricular activities are voluntary participations that students engage in outside of classrooms. This study aimed to determine Korean pharmacy students' degree of involvement in extracurricular activities, motivations behind participation, and influences from those engagements. The study was performed as a voluntary online survey to pharmacy students in four pharmacy schools in Korea and a total of 188 students participated. Sixty-one percent and 34% of students reported that they were involved in at least one extracurricular activities in-school, and out-of-school, respectively. Areas with most involvements were arts/music/sports (73%), followed by volunteer activities (31%). Thirty two percent responded that they have been involved in research internships, followed by 15% and 10% in pharmaceutical company and community pharmacy internships, respectively. For motivations behind involvement, students indicated that their involvement was for hobby (72%) and networking (38%). In conclusion, while Korean pharmacy students actively engage in extracurricular activities, the range of activities was limited in scope, and most students were involved in extracurricular activities as hobbies rather than for career exploration. Opportunities for student involvement in various pharmacy professional organizations and internships in the pharmacy work setting would provide valuable experiences for pharmacy students in their professional development as a pharmacist.

Objectives ： The purpose of this study was to evaluate gender differences with respect to the internalization or externalization of symptoms according to the amount of time spent engaged in extracurricular education. Methods ： The study included a community sample of 755 boys and girls (mean age, 6.6 years), collected from five elementary schools in Gunpo, South Korea. Primary caregivers completed a questionnaire which included information on demographics, the amounts of time children spent in extracurricular education and with other activities, and an adapted form of the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC-2). Gender differences regarding externalizing and internalizing behavior problems were examined according to extracurricular education. Results ： With respect to the boys, there was a difference in the frequency of those who had externalizing behavior problems according to their time spent in extracurricular education. In contrast, the girls exhibited no difference. With respect to those children who spent a lot of time engaged in extracurricular education, there was a gender-specific difference only with respect to externalizing behavior problems. Conclusion ： A gender-specific difference exists only in terms of externalizing behavior problems according to time spent engaged in extracurricular education.

Universities in Korea are presenting various extracurricular activities for survival and growth. Although the goals of extracurricular activities are diverse, one of the most important is to improve the academic achievement of college students. In this study, we looked at the relationship between the cumulative score of extracurricular activities by difficulty level and academic achievement. As a result, first, even if students' basic academic skills were controlled, extracurricular activities had a positive effect on student achievement. This suggests that universities should provide extracurricular activities that are more diverse and tailored to the needs of students. Second, the participation rate of female students in extracurricular activities is similar to that of male students, but the performance is very high. Third, Senior students show high levels of participation and performance. This means that it is necessary to actively increase the participation rate of female students and lower grade students. To this end, not only publicity and compensation, but also active interest and participation of instructors will be required.

Purpose: As introducing a case on extracurricular medical education using artists as instructors, we purposed to make significant implication on the technology-centered medical education. Methods: A case on extracurricular medical education using artists as instructors was introduced and the response of participants among medical students was presented and analyzed. Results: 25 medical students and 5 artists participated in this extracurricular medical education program. Each 5 artists' special area were an oil painting, an illustration, a documentary photo, a play, and an animation Participants' satisfaction of this program was high among medical students. They thought the time with an artist as a significant opportunity for understanding not only human-being but also himself or herself. Conclusions: The application of this learner-centered and extracurricular education program using artists as instructors needed further consideration in medical education. Medical students' meeting with artists can fill the lost art of medicine.

This thesis is a research to develop mathematical problems related to every day life, and to apply to mathematical extracurricular activity. The conclusions are as followings; (1) The materials of mathematical extracurricular activity totaling 34 hours' class time were developed and its theaching methods were thought out. (2) Through studying the mathematical problems related to everyday life, we could create a lively atmosphere in the classroom. (3) Through studying the mathematical problems related to everyday life, we could change the learning attitude of students affirmatively and make the students solve the problems for themselves. (4) We could try to build up to the management of mathematical extracurricular activity.

In order to strengthen the core competencies of architecture, not only the curriculum should be reorganized practically, but also various extracurricular activities should be developed so that they cultivate various competencies required for architecture accreditation. In this paper, by surveying competency-based curriculum-extracurricular activities convergence educational system established in D university, strategy to increase students' participation in extracurricular activities is proposed. As a result of the questionnaire survey of the students and representatives of the local architectural designers, the programs to enhance student's creativity, such as contest participation and license certification program, were found to be the most effective extracurricular activities which help to develop the learning capability in architect as well.
