Determination Method for Topology Configuration of Hybrid Cascaded H-Bridge Rectifiers

  • To reduce system complexity and implementation costs, fully-controlled H-bridge (FHB) modules and diode H-bridge PFC (DHB) modules are cascaded to form a hybrid cascaded H-bridge rectifier (HCHR). In this paper, the advantages of such a HCHR over other cascaded rectifiers are analyzed depending on the numbers of FHB modules and DHB modules. Therefore, to assign proper numbers to these two kinds of modules for the HCHR, a configuration determination method is investigated under balanced and imbalanced loads. Three principles are also presented to guide the configuration determination for the HCHR. In addition, the constraints for selecting the step-up ratio and filter inductance are derived based on a phasor diagram analysis. The proposed configuration determination method is validated by simulations under three different conditions in the PSIM environment. Finally, experiments are carried out on a scaled-down prototype where the configuration can be easily adjusted. The feasibility of the proposed theory is then verified by experimental results.

  • This article presents a numerical and experimental investigation for the single-phase forced laminar convective heat transfer through arrays of micro-channels in micro heat exchangers to be used for cooling power-intensive semiconductor packages, especially the stacked multi-chip modules. In the numerical analysis, a parametric study was carried out for the parameters affecting the efficiency of heat transfer in the flow of coolants through parallel rectangular micro-channels. In the experimental study, the cooling performance of the micro heat exchanger was tested on prototypes of stacked multi-chip modules with difference channel dimensions. The simulation results and the experiment data were acceptably accordant within a wide range of design variations, suggesting the numerical procedure as a useful method for designing the cooling mechanism in stacked multi-chip packages and similar electronic applications.

  • The excess heat that is generated from PV modules can be removed and converted into useful thermal energy. A photovoltaic-thermal(PVT) module is a combination of photovoltaic module with a solar thermal collector, forming one device that receives solar radiation and produces electricity and heat simultaneously. In general, two types of PVT can be classified: glass-covered PVT module, which produces high-temperature heat but has a slightly lower electrical yield, and uncovered PVT module, which produces relatively lower temperature heat but has a somewhat higher electrical performance. In this paper, the experimental performance of two types of the PVT combined module(water type), glazed(glass-covered) and unglazed, was analyzed. The electrical and thermal performance of the PVT combined modules were measured in outdoor conditions, and the results were compared.

  • As the operating frequency of digital modules in network system becomes fast, integrity of signals between modules is regarded as a important factor in high speed system design. To guarantee the signal integrity, many factors that deteriorate quality of signal should be considered.   • Six modules composed of individual sensors and circuit systems for oxygen, temperature, humidity, volatile organic compounds, dust, carbon dioxide, in the indoor air quality control were examined to see their individual performances. 알루미늄반사재의 배치형태에 따른 보온 효과 (Effectiveness of the Aluminum Thermal Screens Depending on the Allocation Type)

  • 온실보온을 위한 알루미늄반사단열재의 설치위치와 광택부의 설치방향에 따라 보온효과를 구명하고자 알루미늄반사재와 부직포를 조합하여 모듈을 구성하고, 모듈내 가열량을 각각 100W, 40W로 하여 2차에 걸쳐 처리 건구온도와 흑구온도, 상대습도를 재료의 조합에 따라 분석하였다. 1. 알루미늄반사재가 있는 경우가 부직포만 있는 경우보다 보온효율이 높았으며, 알루미늄을 두 층으로 하면 한 층으로 할 때보다 내부온도가 높았다. 알루미늄반사재를 한 층으로 설치할 때는 알루미늄반사재의 광택부분을 외부로 향하게 하는 것이 내부로 향하게 하는 것보다 모듈내 온도가 높았다. 알루미늄반사재를 두 층으로 할 때는 같은 방향으로 하는 것이 높게 나타났으며 이 경우 광택부를 둘 다 외향으로 배치하는 것이 보온효율이 더 높게 나타났다. 외기온도에 따라 모듈내 건구온도는 전 모듈에서 서서히 상승하며 그 변화의 크기는 외기온도의 변화보다 적었다. 2. 모듈내를 가열하지 않는 경우 모듈내 온도는 모듈간 온도차가 $0.5^{\circ}C$를 넘지 않았으며 그 차이를 인정하기 어려웠다. 3. 모듈내의 흑구온도변화는 건구온도변화와 그 경향이 비슷하였다 흑구온도는 대체적으로 건구온도보다 높았으며, 그 경향은 알루미늄반사재광택부가 내향인 경우가 외향인 경우보다 더 강하게 나타났던 바 복사열영향이 큰 것으로 판단되었다. 모듈내 상대습도는 건구온도가 증가하면 비교적 직선적으로 하강하였다.

ETFE 필름을 적용한 태양광 모듈의 전기적 출력 및 신뢰성에 관한 연구 (Electrical Output and Reliability of Photovoltaic Module Using Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene Film)

  • As the supply of photovoltaic (PV) increases worldwide, the cumulative installations in 2018 were 7.9 and 560 GW in Korea and the world, respectively. Typically, when the ground on commercial PV modules is installed, the area is limited; hence, new designs of PV modules are required to install additional PVs. Among the new design of PV modules, lightweight PV modules can be utilized in PV systems, such as buildings, farmlands, and floating PV. Concerning the investigation of lightweight PV modules, several studies on materials for replacing low-iron tempered glass, which comprises approximately 65% of the PV module weight, have been conducted. However, materials that are used as substitutes for glass should possess similar lightweight properties and reliability as glass. In this study, experimental tests were performed to evaluate the applicability of ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) film with excellent resistance to water and aging as a front material of PV modules. The transmittance and ultraviolet properties of the ETFE film were determined and compared with those of glass. A 1-cell module and laboratory-scale 24-cell module were manufactured using the ETFE film and glass, and the electrical output was measured and analyzed. Furthermore, damp heat and thermal cycle tests were conducted to evaluate the reliability of the ETFE film module. Based on the experimental results, the electrical output and reliability of the ETFE film module were similar to those of the glass module, and the ETFE film could be used as the front material of PV modules.

과학고 학생들의 창의력과 과학적 사고력 향상을 위한 생물 실험 모듈의 적용 효과 (Application Effects of Biology Modules for Improving Science High School Students' Creativity and Scientific Thinking)

  • 본 연구는 중 고등학생의 창의력 및 과학적 사고력 향상을 위해 학습자 활동 중심으로 개발된 가설-연역적 실험 모듈이 과학고 학생들에게 효과적인지 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 삼투압과 식물의 색소 분리와 관련된 5차시의 가설-연역적 실험 모듈의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 서울의 S 과학고 남 여 4개 반을 각각 46명씩 2개 학급으로 구성된 실험 집단 및 통제 집단으로 나누어서 수업을 하였다. 실험 집단은 삼투 현상 및 광합성 색소 분리와 관련된 가설-연역적 방식으로 구성된 생물 실험 모듈을 통해 학생 중심의 실험 수업을 하였고, 통제 집단은 개발된 실험 모듈과 같은 내용을 가지고 전통적인 방식의 실험 결과 확인 실험 수업을 수행하였다. 두 모듈을 적용하여 학생들의 창의력 및 과학적 사고력, 과학 탐구 능력 그리고 성취도의 향상 효과를 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 개발된 실험 모듈을 적용한 실험 수업은 기존의 전통적 실험 수업보다 학생들의 창의력, 과학적 사고력, 과학 탐구 능력에 유의미한 효과를 보였다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과는 삼투 현상과 광합성 색소 분리를 주제로 한 두 개의 생물 실험 모듈을 적용한 가설-연역적 방식의 수업이 전통적인 교과서 실험 방식인 확인식 실험 수업보다 학생들의 창의력 및 과학적 사고력을 높이는 데 효과가 있음을 의미한다.

Active Suspension System for a One-wheel Car Model Using Single Input Rule Modules Fuzzy Reasoning

  • This paper presents the construction of an active suspension system of a one-wheel car model by using fuzzy reasoning. The car model is approximately described by a nonlinear two degrees freedom system subject to excitation from a road profile, and the active control force is constructed by actuating a pneumatic actuator, and the degradation of the performance due to the delay of the pneumatic actuator is improved by inserting a compensator. The fuzzy control is obtained by single input rule modules fuzzy reasoning, and the excitation from the road profile is estimated by using a disturbance observer. The experimental result shows that the proposed active suspension system much improves the performance in the vibration suppression of the car model.

  • The authors have settled general modular design by analyzing related literatures, but general modular design are too massive to be applicable to all process devices. So, the common parts have to be selected, applied, and modified for the devices. We have chosen the dry pulverizing/mixing device for example. We have elected the target modules of this device such as flange, hinge, bolt, nut coupling. The remote assembling and disassembling possibilities of the selected modules have been analyzed from the viewpoints of visibility, interference, approach, weight and so on. We have presented final modular design proper to the target modules. The modular designs which have adopted the modular property been analyzed. The modular design points are comprised of common and unique points. Some points are common for several devices, such as bolt, flange and so on. Others are unique for each device, such as power transmission coupling. The experimental devices have been modified by these modular design points and the design drawings have been presented.
