  • This paper proposes an enhanced degree computationless modified Euclid's(E-DCME) algorithm and its architecture for Reed-Solomon decoders. The proposed E-DCME algorithm has shorter critical path delay that is $T_{mult}+T_{add}+T_{mux}$ compared with the existing modified Euclid's algorithm and the degree computationless modified Euclid's(DCME) algorithm since it uses new initial conditions. The proposed E-DCME architecture employing a systolic array requires only 2t-1 clock cycles to solve the key equation without initial latency. In addition, the E-DCME architecture consisting of 3t basic cells has regularity and scalability since it uses only one processing element. The E-DCME architecture using the $0.18{\mu}m$ Samsung standard cell library consists of 18,000 gates.

  • In this paper, we propose a Reed-Solomon decoder for the DVD Reed-Solomon(RS) product code based on new efficient euclid cell architecture suitable for Modified Euclid Algorithm. We synthesized the RS decoder using Hyundai 0.65um CMOS standard cell library and compared the performance of the decoder with one of the conventional architectures. The result shows that the proposed euclid cell use about 32% less symbol time.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient VLSI architecture of Reed-Solomon(RS) decoder. To improve the speed. we develope an architecture featuring parallel and pipelined processing. To implement the parallel and pipelined processing architecture, we analyze the RS decoding algorithm and the honor's algorithm for parallel processing and we also modified the Euclid's algorithm to apply the efficient parallel structure in RS decoder. To show the proposed architecture, the performance of the proposed RS decoder is compared to Shao's and we obtain the 10 % efficiency in area and three times faster in speed when it's compared to Shao's time domain decoder. In addition, we implemented the proposed RS decoder with Altera FPGA Flex10K-50.

  • In this work a high speed 8-error correcting Reed-Solomon decoder is designed using the modified Euclid algorithm. Decoding algorithm of Reed-Solomon codes consists of four steps, those are, compute syndromes, find error-location polynomials, decide error-locations, and determine error values. The decoding speed is increased and the latency is reduced by using the parallel architecture in the syndrome generator and a faster clock speed in the modified Euclid algorithm block. In addition. the error locator polynomial in Chien search block is separated into even and odd terms to increase the overall speed of the decoder. All the functionalities of the decoder are verified first through C++ programs. Verilog is used for hardware description, and then the decoder is synthesized with a $.25{\mu}m$ CMOS TML library. The functionalities of the chip is also verified through test vectors. The clock speed of the chip is 250MHz, and the maximum data rate is 1Gbps.

  • The error control of digital transmission system is a very important subject because of the noise effects, which is very sensitive to transmission performance of the digital communication system It employs a modified Euclid's algorithm to compute the error-location polynomial and error-magnitude polynomial of input data. The circuit size is reduced by selecting the Modified Euclid's Algorithm with one Euclid Cell of mutual operation. And the operation speed of Decoder is improved by using ROM and parallel structure. The proposed Encoder and Decoder are simulated with ModelSim and Active-HDL and synthesized with Synopsys. We can see that this chip is implemented on Xilinx Virtex2 XC2V3000. A share of slice is 28%. nut speed of this paper is 45Mhz.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the extendibility of division algorithm and Euclid algorithm for integers to algorithms for rational numbers based on word problems of fraction division. This study serviced to upgrade professional development of elementary and secondary mathematics teachers. In this paper, fractions were used as expressions of rational numbers, and they also represent rational numbers. According to discrete context and continuous context, and measurement division and partition division etc, divisibility was classified into two types; one is an abstract algebraic point of view and the other is a generalizing view which preserves division algorithms for integers. In the second view, we raised some contextual problems that can be used in school mathematics and then we discussed division algorithm, the greatest common divisor and the least common multiple, and Euclid algorithm for fractions.

  • This paper proposes a new low-power and small-area Reed-Solomon decoder. The proposed Reed-Solomon decoder using a novel simplified form of the modified Euclid's algorithm can support low-hardware complexity and low-Power consumption for Reed-Solomon decoding. The simplified modified Euclid's algorithm uses new initial conditions and polynomial computations to reduce hardware complexity, and thus, the implemented architecture consisting of 3r basic cells has the lowest hardware complexity compared with existing modified Euclid's and Berlekamp-Massey architectures. The Reed-Solomon decoder has been synthesized using the $0.18{\mu}m$ Samsung standard cell library and operates at 370MHz and its data rate supports up to 2.9Gbps. For the (255, 239, 8) RS code, the gate counts of the simplified modified Euclid's architecture and the whole decoder excluding FIFO memory are only 20,166 and 40,136, respectively. Therefore, the proposed decoder can reduce the total gate count at least 5% compared with the conventional DCME decoder.

  • In this paper, the design of decoder for R-S code using discrete finite-field Fourier transform is presented. An important ingredient of this design is a modified Euclid algorithm for computing the error-locator polynomial. The computation of inverse elements is completely avoided in this modification of Euclid algorithm. This decoder is regular and simple, and naturally suitable for VLSI implementation.

  • This paper presents a vehicle detecting algorithm using microwave system signals. The Proposed algerian decides the breakpoint of signals using the likelihood criteria. The decided signals are segmented and simplified. The proposed searching algorithm uses the Euclid distance from the weighted signal data. We tested the proposed algorithm to compare with the segmentation which is a method using smoothing and edge detection. We confirm that the proposed algorithm is very useful for detecting vehicles by field test.

  • This paper proposes a novel low-cost and high-speed Reed-Solomon (RS) decoder based on a new degree computationless modified Euclid´s (DCME) algorithm. This architecture has quite low hardware complexity compared with conventional modified Euclid´s (ME) architectures, since it can remove completely the degree computation and comparison circuits. The architecture employing a systolic away requires only the latency of 2t clock cycles to solve the key equation without initial latency. In addition, the DCME architecture using 3t+2 basic cells has regularity and scalability since it uses only one processing element. The RS decoder has been synthesized using the 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Faraday CMOS standard cell library and operates at 200MHz and its data rate suppots up to 1.6Gbps. For tile (255, 239, 8) RS code, the gate counts of the DCME architecture and the whole RS decoder excluding FIFO memory are only 21,760 and 42,213, respectively. The proposed RS decoder can reduce the total fate count at least 23% and the total latency at least 10% compared with conventional ME architectures.
